A lot of different cleanse diets offer to lose weight fast and rid bodies of toxins, but doctors caution there are a few things to consider before trying any of the programs.

A lot of celebrities talk about losing lots of weight on cleanses. The problem with a lot of those cleanses is that they're really just low-calorie diets, so you're really depriving your body of essential nutrients to stay healthy, said Dr. Will Cole of the Health Institute of Pittsburgh in Greensburg.

Cole told Channel 4 Action News anchor Michelle Wright he offers his clients a selection of detox diets and continues to monitor them.

His program also incorporates healthy foods.

Abby Painter said she tried a cleanse diet called Herbalogica after having her first baby and dropped 11 pounds in three weeks.

Before I did the cleanse, I had this fogginess in my brain. I guess you could say my body just didn't feel good. And afterwards, I felt rejuvenated and alive and my cells were excited, she said.

Dennis Mike, who suffers from diabetes, told Wright he used to always be tired and decided to try a ClearVite cleanse program.

Mike said he dropped 11 pounds and feels less fatigued, but the real perk has been the diets effect on his diabetes.

His A1c level went from 8.8 while he was on insulin to 6.3 without it.
