"A Johns Hopkins-led study of 6,200 men and women over eight years found that those who adopted four smart behaviours reduced the chance of death from all causes within that time frame by an astounding 80 percent," said the univeristy.
"The healthiest people in the study maintained a body mass index [BMI] a ratio of height to weight that measures body mass of less than 25.
"The study found that the healthiest people followed a Mediterranean-style diet.
"That means a diet rich in fresh fruits and vegetables, tree nuts with healthy oils, fish [and less red meats], whole-grain carbs and olive oil for cooking."
Meanwhile, you could also lower your risk of early death by regularly eating ginger, it's been revealed.
Ginger has been claimed to reduce inflammation in the colon, which has been linked with bowel cancer.
Dried spices provide the highest concentration of antioxidants, whereas freezing them preserves the antioxidants in fresh spices.
Everyone should liberally add a variety of spices to their meals, nutritionists have urged.

Top 10 Healthiest Cereals To Add To Your Diet – Medical Daily
Cereals have become breakfast favorites because they are easy to prepare, usually by setting a bowl-full before pouring milk (or a nondairy alternative) in it. The problem, however, is that many of these are loaded with sugar, making them less like healthy and nourishing meals and more like desserts -- not a good thing if you are following certain diets.
That does not mean that you can ditch cereals altogether, though. In fact, the right ones can be nutritious enough to be a good meal. Nutritious cereals are good sources of protein, fiber and some vitamins and minerals (especially among fortified ones) that will help boost your health daily.
As far as your diet is concerned, not all cereals are loaded with unhealthy added sugars. The following healthy options shared by Men's Health prove it:
Alpen No Added Sugar Muesli
A muesli is a Swiss-style cereal that contains oats, dried fruit and nuts. This muesli from Alpen, in particular, contains no added sugar, allowing the nutrients present to shine. For more protein, you can even add this to a bowl of Greek yogurt.
Barbara's Peanut Butter Puffins
These crunchy and not-too-sweet whole-grain oat and corn pillows from Barbara's all have a delicious peanut butter taste. And by peanut butter, the manufacturer meant organic peanut butter. For a more nutritious meal, you can top your bowl with chopped nuts or seeds and a handful of berries.
OH-mazing Original Recipe Granola
This flavorful granola's ingredients list is all organic: rolled oats, butter, organic cane sugar, organic pumpkin seeds, organic agave sugar, organic flaxseeds, vanilla and cinnamon.
Kashi Go Lean Cinnamon Crisp Cereal
Ample amounts of warming cinnamon give flavor to these crunchy flakes from Kashi, which are made of fiber-rich whole grains and protein-loaded soy.
Kind Dark Chocolate Whole Grain Clusters
These dark-chocolate-flavored, protein-fortified whole grain chunks will make people think that you are eating desserts first thing in the morning. These have enough protein to keep your appetite in check. Furthermore, research has shown that eating buckwheat, millet and other cereal grains that you will find in each bag keeps your waistline in line.
Love Grown Power O's
These crunchy O's are made not of grains, but by a trio of legumes: navy beans, lentils and chickpeas, all of which are nutritional heavyweights. The original flavor in particular contains no sugar and does not turn soggy when swimming in milk.
These cereals are also good as protein bar alternatives as part of your post-workout ritual. Researchers at the University of Texas found that a carb- and protein-rich bowl of cereal and low-fat milk can kick-start post-training muscle recovery.
Seven Sunday's Banana Berry Chia Grain-Free Muesli
This paleo-friendly, added-sugar-free muesli is loaded with nutritional superstars including almonds, dried cherries and sunflower and chia seeds. One study found that consuming more protein from nutrient-dense nuts and seeds slashes heart disease risk by up to 40 percent. It can be soaked in almond or cashew milk for a quick morning meal.
Kashi Organic Autumn Wheat
This cereal is made using only three organic ingredients: shredded wheat, 7 grams of protein and 7 grams of fiber.
Thrive Market Organic Coconut Flakes
These flakes are made with coconut meat, which is high in fiber (5 grams per serving) and good fats. You can try them with chopped bananas and mangoes on top.
Food For Life Ezekiel 4:9 Sprouted Whole Grain Cereal
Food for Life offers pretty good crunchy cereals. Its almond-flavored version is high both in protein (8 grams per serving) and fiber (6 grams per serving).

High Protein Diet: This Overloaded Spanish Omelette Is Indulgence Overload – NDTV Food
This recipe is cheesy, wholesome and all things indulgent.
Highlights
There's something about an omelette that makes us all feel like seasoned chefs. It is one of the first dishes that we learned in our kitchens; a dish where we dared to experiment and really felt proud of the outcome. And by now, we all know that you can never really go wrong with an omelette, right? So how about experimenting a little more?
This Spanish omelette recipe by Mumbai-based vlogger Alpa Modi is ideal for breakfast or lazy brunch. A hearty spin on the traditional Spanish omelette, this recipe is cheesy, wholesome and all things indulgent. One cannot ignore the high protein quotient of the breakfast either. Eggs are the best bio-available sources of protein, which helps build muscle and also aid weight loss. In addition to eggs, the omelette also packs the goodness of potatoes, onions, mushrooms, coriander and green chillies. The chef has also added some slices of chicken salami in the omelette; however, it is completely optional. You can make your omelette without it too. For that matter, you can tweak most of the ingredients as per your taste, liking and availability. Substitute with ingredients of your choice, but make sure it is loaded with all things flavourful.

Arthritis: Three of the best fruits to incorporate into your diet to reduce symptoms – Express
Arthritis is the most common form of peripheral joint arthritis and cause of disability in the UK. It affects mostly the knee, hip, hand, and feet joints. It is a chronic musculoskeletal disorder characterised by involvement of all joint structures including the synovial membrane, cartilage and bone. Those suffering with the condition experience joint pain, reduced participation in daily activities and poor quality of life. Fortunately, including more of these delicious fruits could help.
Tart cherries get their rich red colour and many of their powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant benefits from the flavonoid anthocyanin, said the Arthritis Foundation.
The health site added: These properties make tart cherries a popular research subject, and some investigators compare the effects to nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.
One study found that drinking tart cherry juice two times per day for three weeks resulted in considerable reductions in vital inflammation markers, especially for participants who had the highest inflammation levels at the start of the study.

Watermelons are high in the carotenoid beta-cryptoxanthin, which helps to reduce the risk of rheumatoid arthritis, according to studies which followed peoples dietary habits over time, said Arthritis Foundation.
Nutritionist Victoria Jarzabkowski added: The lycopene in watermelon makes it an anti-inflammatory fruit.
Lycopene is also known to help protect certain cancers and lower heart attack risk.

Unlike most fruits, avocados are a good source of vitamin E, a micronutrient with anti-inflammatory effects said Arthritis Foundation.
The site added: Diets high in these compounds are linked to decreased risk of the joint damage seen in early osteoarthritis.
Studies also show eating avocados daily increases good HDL cholesterol and lowers bad LDL cholesterol.
When it comes to foods to avoid, processed foods are up there.
Foods including baked goods, pre-packaged meals and snacks.
These items contain trans-fat to help preserve them, and trans fats trigger systemic inflammation.
Its imperative to carefully read food labels as many contain hydrogenated oils which should be avoided.
There is no cure for arthritis, but there are many treatments that can help slow it down, said the NHS.
It added: Osteoarthritis treatments include lifestyle changes, medicines and surgery.
Treatment for rheumatoid arthritis aims to slow the conditions progress and minimise joint inflammation. This helps prevent joint damage.
Treatments include medication, physiotherapy and surgery.

Monsoon Diet: Celeb Nutritionist On Foods You Should And Should Not Be Eating During The Rainy Season – Doctor NDTV
Monsoon diet: Avoid leafy green veggies, but eat pulses and vegetables like jimikand, sweet potato, bitter gourd and bottle gourd. Read here to know more about foods to eat and avoid during the rainy season.
Monsoon diet tips: Nachni or ragi is a healthy millet for the rainy season
Monsoons have arrived and this is an important time to work on your immunity and improve your body's defences. With every change of season, it is important to introduce changes in your diet. Nutritionists and health experts recommend eating according to the season as it is also an effective way to include diversity in your diet. Rujuta Diwekar, in a recent Insta post, shared a number of foods that you should be eating during the rainy season for good health and strong immunity.
In a post shared on Instagram, Diwekar talks about foods that you should and should not be eating this time of the year.
Monsoon is not the time to eat green leafy vegetables. Bitter gourd, bottle gourd, pumpkin, sweet potato, jimikand, etc are vegetables that can be eaten during the rainy season. Include a variety of vegetables in your diet for good gut health and strong immunity, mentions Diwekar in her post.

A great source of vegetarian protein, pulses are a staple part of diet in numerous Indian households. They also provide you with vitamins, minerals, healthy carbs and fibre. Kulith (horsegram) and alsaane (goa beans) are two dals that you must eat during monsoon, mentions Diwekar. They can give you healthy skin and hair, she says. Besides these, you should eat the dals that are traditionally cooked this time around.

Nachni or ragi is the millet that you should be eating during the rainy season. It can be consumed in the form of roti, porridge or papad. "Say no to multi-grain bread, attas and biscuits though," writes Diwekar in her post.Rajgeera, samo, kuttu, mandua are other millets that are monsoon-friendly. Have them in combination with dahi and butter to ensure optimum assimilation of nutrients, she asserts. Grains that can be eaten throughout the year rice, jowar, corn and wheat.

Well, do pakodas or bhajiyas taste better in any other season barring monsoon? As Diwekar always recommends, enjoy monsoons with deep fried, and not air fried pakods. Use oils like coconut oil, mustard oil or groundnut oil for deep frying. Avoid reusing the oil for cooking. It is important to consume healthy fats that come from these oils, especially for assimilation of Vitamin D.

Bryson DeChambeau reveals details of his new diet that led to muscle gain – CBS Sports
Watch Now: Bryson DeChambeau Hits It HOW FAR!? | Cart Path Only (sponsored by Travelers) (3:02)
Golfer Bryson DeChambeau prepared for the 2019-20 PGA Tour season by gaining 30 pounds to hopefully hit golf balls harder. It worked. In order to do that, DeChambeau added a great deal of protein in his diet.
On Tuesday, DeChambeau detailed what his diet now consists of, and it's quite something. One of the most mind-boggling aspects of the diet is that DeChambeau consumes at least six protein shakes every day.
DeChambeau consumes two shakes each of his three daily meals, but sometimes three in the midday.
"If you were to add all that up it would be around 3,000 to 3,500 I think, something like that," told reporters at the press conference ahead of the 2020 Rocket Mortgage Classic.
Back in December, DeChambeau was up to 225 pounds because he wanted to improve his game and prevent future injuries. In an interview with Golf.com, DeChambeau revealed that he'd been dealing with back injuries and was considering getting surgery.
"I was literally thinking I'd need surgery but I talked to Greg (Roskopf), he was like no, no, no, don't do any of that, we're going to teach your body to tolerate the force," DeChambeau said. "Usually when ligaments get torn or bones get broken or whatever it's because the muscles aren't functioning properly, so thats what I've been doing. I'm going to become like a gymnast. I watch online, on Instagram, these gymnast influencers, and that's where I want to get."

Mark Wahlberg Was Only Supposed to Be Plant-Based for 12 Days. Now Its His Lifestyle. – menshealth.com
Some of us may be slacking on our usual fitness routines in quarantine, but not Mark Wahlberg. The actor took Mens Health into his home to show off his fridge and how hes managing to stay healthy these days.
Although the Patriots Day actor has been known in the past for his extremely early-morning workouts (he recently gave up his infamous 4 a.m. gym sessions while in quarantine), his exercise program is inherently tied to whatever movie he has to prepare for. I train for whatever my next role is or whatever I gotta do for work, he says in a new Gym and Fridge video.
Different roles have very different demands on his body. If I gotta get out of shape, then Im eating fried food and drinking beer for the first couple of weeks," he says. "If I gotta get as thin as possible, like in The Gambler, Im on a liquid diet and jump rope 200 rounds a day.
Five days a week (he likes to take off Wednesdays and Saturdays), Wahlberg can be found training in his home gym, starting at around 10 a.m., when he begins the first of two circuits. His preferred method for an intense workout? Forty seconds on, twenty seconds off, giving him the chance to burn more calories and really get his heart rate up. And though hes not the biggest cardio fan, hes been doing a lot more while stuck at home.

But how does Wahlberg stay so motivated to train constantly? Well, its a combination of morning prayers with knowing just how lucky he is to be an actor. I take [my job] seriously, so whatever I gotta do to get ready, Im doing, he says. I got a responsibility to show up prepared and the way they want me to be, so thats what I do. And ultimately, I know it just makes me feel better.
Throughout quarantine, the Lone Survivor star has had a supportive training partner: his wife, Rhea Durham. My wife usually likes to pick the playlist, he jokes, but shes been doing amazing. Shes been with us now five days a week and hasnt missed a day shes doing the work and doing things she didnt think she could do.

And for those looking to start their fitness journey, Wahlberg has a simple, but effective piece of advice for you: Learn the fundamentals first, and then from there, you can start getting jacked. The actor also has a specific place to go to: F45 Training, where hes not only an investor, but also found his best workouts.
Wahlbergs diet that has changed the most in recent months. Instead of eating seven to eight meals a day of mostly protein, he is now on a plant-based diet, something that only was meant to be for a short amount of time.

I wasnt getting enough rest, doing two-a-days, six to seven days a week, eating seven to eight meals of mostly protein, and just not feeling good, he says. I did a bone broth fast, and then went plant-based for what was supposed to be twelve days. That was four months ago.
With his chef Lawrence Duran quarantining with him and his family, Wahlberg has been able to keep up with meals that suit his new outlook. Besides for his plant-based proteins for shakes, Impossible meat for burgers and some seafood to have on the weekends, Wahlberg also has the makings for any type of wrap he feels like eating. And since going plant-based, hes found himself a new favorite food that he loves to indulge on late at night.
Ive discovered hummus, he says. I never had hummus before and Im loving it!
