We Tried to Eat Hafthor Bjornssons Normal 8,000 Calorie Training Diet – BarBend

Hafthor Bjornsson is one of the strongest (and largest) men on the planet. The six foot nine inches tall, four hundred plus pound Bjornsson has nine Worlds Strongest Man podium appearances, including a win in 2018, and a third place finish after suffering a torn plantar fasciain 2019. Hes a five-time Europes Strongest Man and a two-time Arnold Strongman Classic champion. The man casually deadlifts eight hundred pounds plusfor repsand was cast as The Mountain on HBOsGame of Thrones.

All this is to say, Bjornsson needs the proper fuel to achieve those accolades. Weve covered Bjornssons dietextensively (plusdiets hes considered trying), and are not strangers to eating challenges. So it makes sense that we, two very normal sized dudes who are not strongmen, would eat calorie for calorie what Bjornsson eats on a normal training day:

Before going into the specifics of why Bjornsson eats what he eats in the way he does, lets take a look at each meal for the food and macro breakdown:

Let us preface that this is A LOTof food. If you combined David and Is bodyweight at the time of this challenge, we still would not weigh as much as Bjornsson.

But we came ready and confident to gluttonously tackle multiple days worth of calories within eight hours.

David and I had just completed several of Primal Swoledier Eric Leijas Kettlebell Flows right beforehand so we were definitely hungry for a big breakfast. We discovered that David is an extremely fast eater while I am the polar opposite.

We chatted through what we were most weary about going into the challenge. For David, it was how much orange juice and coconut water we were going to have to consume because sugary drinks are usually difficult for him. For me, it was the sheer volume of food because I was already feeling my belly getting heavy after the large bowl of loaded oatmeal.

Despite those lingering concerns,we crushed meal 1!

About an hour and a half after breakfast, it was time for some rice and rib-eye. In case it was a mystery, neither of us were hungry after the 1,715 calorie breakfast.

Knowing we would each have to eat seven cups of rice over the course of the day, we were pretty excited about all the butter that was used to cook it. More butter (read fat) equals more flavor; something Bjornssons diet isnt lacking as he eatsnearly one full stick of butter every day.

It was my first ever experience with dextrose but to my surprise it actually made the food taste very good. Turns out, adding a scoop of sugar does improve the flavor of a meal, even if it is meant more for its digestive benefits than its flavor profile. If you want to know more specifics about dextrose, we discuss it later in this article.

An hour or so after meal 2, we dove right into meal 3. We were not even remotely hungry.

This meal added in a bunch of potatoes and a whole banana, but otherwise was the same as meal 2.

I mentioned that, at this point, I was definitely slowing down physically. My breathing was also getting a bit more labored as David mentioned:

I can hear you breathing. I can feel you breathing.

As this meal progressed, David felt like he was going to pop and I started laughing uncontrollably for no reason. We were both feeling very uncomfortable.

Lets just wrap this one up.

A few hours later, we tackled meal 4. Its fitting Bjornsson is also known as The Mountain, because this challenge felt like climbing one.

By this point we had already consumed 3,729 calories. I adopted the strategy of leaning fully back in my chair to take any pressure off my stomach, which was definitely bulging at this point. On a positive note, my belly now made for a great table to rest my food on whilst I chewed.

David noted that the food in this diet was all fairly nutritious, albeit this particular meal included both an entire potato and a full tomato, the latter of which was to be eaten raw.

I never want to see food again.

After taking into consideration the physical state we were each battling halfway through this meal knowing there were three more still to go, two of which involved twice the amount of rice, we tapped out.

Meals 5 and 6 were attempted, but we surrendered a few bites in.

We were not going to let the challenge end without taking down the item that shocked us most when we first learned of Bjornssons diet.

He consumes a liter of full fat milk with 64g of casein protein which has the tendency to thicken pretty quickly. Oh, and also another full banana.

I was pretty ecstatic that this meal would not involve chewing. Drinking the dense 945 calorie shake was immensely difficult but we both successfully got it down.

Theres always room for dessert, right?

Although unsuccessful in the challenge, we did each manage to consume somewhere between 5,500 to 6,000 calories.

We proceeded to lay on the floor and not move.

You may have noticed this cheeky ingredient sneaking its way into most of the meals that Bjornsson eats. So what exactly is dextrose?

As David said during the educational interlude in the video, dextrose is a carbohydrate that Bjornsson adds to his meals because it may help stimulate the production of amylase, an enzyme that helps break down carbohydrates in the digestive system.

If you were to simply look at the macros on a dextrose nutrition label, you would find that it is entirely sugar. Essentially, dextrose is a carb that helps break down carbs during digestion.

No, it doesnt require that you eat standing up.

It was developed by bodybuilder, strength athlete, and Bjornssons nutrition coach, Stan Efferding, who says, The Vertical Diet is about eating nutrient-dense foods that are easily digestible in order to help you lose or gain weight, maximize workouts, and achieve better nutrient absorption over all.

Its a relatively low-fat, high carb diet. Weve covered the vertical dietextensively and why certain foods are best for it. We also discuss the foods that are forbidden by it.

If you want to try the vertical diet, it is always best tospeak with a healthcare practitioner before undertaking any new diet or weight loss program.

We may have come up short in the challenge but we feel like were part of the Strongman community now. It was certainly difficult but it only furthered our understanding of how unique the athletes who compete in Strongman truly are.

If youre interested in watching Bjornsson and other strongmen in action, the 2020 USA Arnold Strongman took place earlier this month, as did Britains Strongest Man. Also, Worlds Strongest Man hasconfirmed a date and locationfor 2020.

So there is plenty of strongman action to fill our plates this year. Oof, maybe that wasnt the best choice of words.

Hafthor Bjornsson is an Icelandic strongman and actor. He won the 2018 Worlds Strongest Man competition and is a two-time Arnold Strongman Classic champion.

He played The Mountain on HBOsGame of Thrones.

Hafthor Bjornsson eats the vertical diet created by his nutrition coach, Stan Efferding, that only incorporates easily digestible foods.

On a normal training day, Bjornsson eats approximately 8,000 calories.

Following the Carnivore Diet Gave Joe Rogan Severe Diarrhoea – Men’s health UK

For the past month, podcaster and comedian Joe Rogan has been following the carnivore diet, eating nothing but meat and eggs for the month of January. After five days on the diet, Rogan said he had noticed himself becoming leaner, while his energy levels had also received a boost. Since then, though, Rogan's diet experiment has gone south. Literally.

Writing on Instagram, Rogan revealed that after following the carnivore diet for a few weeks, he was now suffering from severe diarrhoea. "Im not sure diarrhoea is an accurate word for it, like I dont think a shark is technically a fish," wrote Rogan.

"Its a different thing, and with regular diarrhoea I would compare it to a fire you see coming a block or two away and you have the time to make an escape, whereas this carnivore diet is like out of nowhere the fire is coming through the cracks, your doorknob is red hot, and all hope is lost."

Thankfully, Rogan hasn't shit his pants yet. But, he says, if he were to continue with the diet, then it'd be a matter of time before he fills his underpants "like a rainforest mudslide overtaking a mountain road".

On the upside, Rogan says that since starting the diet he is now around 7lbs (3kgs) lighter and his energy levels have increased. However, Rogan said "I trust my butthole about as much as I trust a shifty neighbour with a heavy Russian accent that asks a lot of personal questions."

So if you want to lose a little weight and gain a little energy, go ahead and follow Rogan's example. You'll want to proceed with caution, though, because you may experience diarrhoea that's comparable with a "rainforest mudslide". You have been warned.

What is the South Beach Diet – how does it work and is it keto friendly? – The Media Hq

The South Beach Diet has two decades of history that lead dieters towards their weight loss goals. This program was developed at a time when the wellness industry was obsessed with a low-carb diet. It aims to enable weight loss with a slightly less restrictive use of carbohydrates.

founder Dr. Arthur Agatston lives and practices medicine in Miami, which inspired the name of this modified low-carb diet. In the mid-1990s, before publishing his first book on nutrition, he helped patients lose weight in his cardiology practice with a number of specific nutritional guidelines. In an effort to evolve with changing ideas about healthy eating, Agatston has recently published a new book that details the details of what he calls a keto-friendly South Beach diet.

The South Beach Diet is known as a modified low-carb diet because there is no diet to count carbohydrates. Instead, this is a program that promotes fewer carbohydrates and if you eat carbohydrates, they should be good carbohydrates. According to the plan, foods with a high glycemic index should be avoided, while carbohydrates with a lower glycemic index are allowed in moderate portions.

In addition, dietitians are instructed to focus on eating healthier fats. This differentiates the South Beach diet from other low-carb diets that allow more saturated fats. Instead, dieters can eat lots of good fats like olive oil, fatty fish, and avocados while avoiding the saturated fatty acids found in dairy and animal products.

The main goal of this diet is weight loss and this is a diet that offers quick results. During the first phase of the diet, which lasts two weeks, the average weight loss is 8 to 13 pounds. Another known benefit of this diet is that it is a heart-healthy diet. It was created by a cardiologist who wanted to give his patients the success of losing weight on other low-carb diets without encouraging them to eat saturated fats that would be detrimental to their hearts long-term health.

Related: Rob Lowe on the tricks he uses to stay low-carb and why ice cream is his kryptonite

Because this diet promotes eating habits that have long been associated with a reduced risk of heart disease and stroke, adherence to the South Beach program is not unsafe. While other low carbohydrate diets might allow or promote foods high in saturated fats, this diet does not. This would allow everyone, including people at risk of heart disease, to eat long-term diets this way and rely on the health of their hearts to be protected by the foods they eat

A known side effect of the South Beach Diet is ketosis. A low-carbohydrate diet can put the body in a ketosis that accelerates weight loss, but can also be associated with a few uncomfortable symptoms commonly known as keto flu: irritability, nausea, fatigue, and body aches. This side effect can be avoided if you are careful.

The South Beach Diet can be customized for different people and preferences. Recently, the diet makers have published a new book that explains how the South Beach diet can be customized to be keto-friendly. This would mean fewer carbohydrates to promote ketosis while eating more healthy fats. With ketosis, your body has made the switch to burning fat for energy. This is why people who follow the keto diet often lose weight quickly.

The goal of the keto-friendly South Beach Diet is to reduce your daily net carb intake to less than 50 grams of net carbs a day, said Courtney McCormick, RD, South Beach Diet nutritionist.

Although there are some rules on what you can and cannot eat on the South Beach Diet, there is still a wide variety of foods that are recommended for those who follow this diet. For starters, non-starchy vegetables are a food that you can eat as much as you want on the South Beach Diet. This includes greens, certain low-glycemic pumpkins such as zucchini, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, and cauliflower, to name a few.

Since the South Beach diet is a phased diet, there are some foods that are not allowed in phase 1, but can be consumed in small quantities later. Fruit is one of these foods and is not allowed at all for the first two weeks. In phases 2 and 3, you can eat small amounts of starchy fruits and larger parts of fruits with a lower glycemic index, such as berries. You can also import starchy vegetables.

Lean protein is an important part of the South Beach diet. So you should make sure that your fridge and freezer are filled with fish, chicken breast, ground chicken, and ground turkey. Even with this diet, small amounts of legumes are allowed.

Depending on which phase of the South Beach diet you are in, you have to avoid different foods. Avoid high-glycemic fruits and vegetables during each phase of the diet:

Refined grains such as white rice, bread and white pasta should also be avoided.

During the first two weeks of the diet, the list of foods to avoid is a little longer. This is because all fruits are avoided in this phase.

Youll want to make sure that your meals have a good balance of lean protein, healthy fats, and non-starchy vegetables, says McCormick. For lunch, a large salad with grilled fish or chicken with an olive oil vinaigrette, and for dinner, a beef pan dish with lots of vegetables fried in coconut oil over cauliflower rice is a delicious, keto-friendly option.

Fatty fish is an important part of this diet because it aims at a heart-healthy diet. If you want to start with South Beach, you should have several recipes on hand so you can look forward to a variety of flavors while eating the same fish week after week. Start with a great, simple, oven-steamed salmon. When youre ready to branch, this baked salmon with rocket salsa verde is unbeatable.

Related: Life is never the same after trying these 25 creative cauliflower rice recipes

Snacks are usually required two to three times a day on the South Beach Diet. Some of the best snacks are nuts, fresh vegetables and dip, and fruit. Avoid the fruit in phase 1, but add it in small portions once youve exceeded the first two weeks. Homemade guacamole is a great snack that will keep you fed until you eat. You can exchange tortilla chips for sliced peppers to keep to the plan. If guacamole is not your thing or you are looking for a replacement for your favorite dip, this Creamy Herb Dip is the perfect accompaniment for your favorite vegetables.

During each phase of the South Beach diet, you will be asked to eat dessert as one of your snacks. This can help with sneaky sugar cravings that threaten to throw you off the track with night skating. One of the most popular desserts on the South Beach Diet is a lemon ricotta cream. Once youve reached phase 2, you can satisfy your craving for chocolate with these flour-free black bean brownies.

For breakfast, scrambled eggs like this smoked sausage breakfast scrambled eggs are a great way to make sure you eat plenty of vegetables to start your day. Once you have entered phase 2 of the diet, thin portions of wholemeal bread are allowed, so a great breakfast sandwich recipe can come in handy and this zucchini tomato frittata sandwich is filled with vegetables. The only adjustment that needs to be made to the recipe where the Italian bread is exchanged for something South Beach-friendly.

Diet Demand Touts Benefits of Heart Healthy Diets for Longevity and Weight Loss – Yahoo Finance

Baton Rouge, LA, Jan. 20, 2020 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- If youre looking to start 2020 with a leap towards a healthier lifestyle, a heart-healthy diet is one of the best places to start. Heart healthy diets can go a long way toward protecting and preserving your bodys most important muscle. They also tend to have an obviously, positive impact on the rest of the body and mind. A focus on heart healthy eating is one way to promote longevity, youthfulness and weight control in your own life. Currently, a few popular heart healthy options stand out the most according to telemedicine weight loss leader, Diet Demand.

TheDASHDiet. According to Dr. Burns - Diet Demands Medical Director, DASH was created as a way to lower blood pressure based on the theory of sodium causing hypertension. It stands for Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension and works for a percentage of the population who are hypertensive. For these sodium sensitive individuals (maybe only 25% of the population), this method can provide some benefit. It also helps to restore some mineral imbalances that contribute to high blood pressure. However, Dr. Burns believes that there is more to improving heart health, Avoiding processed foods are sound, however the guidelines on specific macronutrient intake are missing. Also, weight management should be a key aspect of heart healthy dieting. Being that DASH was created for hypertension, the primary purpose of this diet is not weight management. As far as weight loss is concerned, only lower calorie versions of DASH would trigger weight loss, but that would apply to them doing any lower calorie diet. Additionally, for people who are following lower carb diets for weight loss, the sodium requirement actually goes up, along with the other electrolytes of potassium and magnesium due to the effect of the kidneys wasting electrolytes more rapidly while the body goes into ketosis. Believe it or not, the daily sodium requirement is actually higher on a lower carb diet than a high carb diet.

The Mediterranean diet is also touted for its heart-healthy benefits. Unlike the DASH diet whose primary purpose is the reduction of salt, Mediterranean style eating is more heavily focused on the incorporation of heart-healthy omega3s and fats such as olive oil, fatty fish and avocados. Since whole foods are implemented, sodium reduction is somewhat a part of this diet since processed foods are minimized. Diet Demand, a nationally recognized virtual weight loss program incorporates heart-healthy strategies in its customized diet and weight loss coaching methods. Its Jumpstart Diet, focuses is on balanced nutrition and initial calorie reductions between 800-1200 calories to help patients at risk for heart disease with quick weight loss.

Plant-based lifestyle: A ‘diet that fits all sizes’ – Northern Virginia Daily

WINCHESTER Those looking to get healthy this year might be tempted to consider a fad diet. But health professionals say its healthier and more practical to choose a healthy lifestyle instead.

Plant-based diets are becoming all the rage as more and more options for vegans make their way to area restaurants and grocery stores.

These are signs of a culture shift, said Donna Michel, a retired nephrologist in Winchester who also has a certificate in plant-based nutrition and is board certified in lifestyle medicine.

When we talk about plant-based diets for health, she said, the things that were mainly talking about are avoiding animal products, avoiding eating added oils and eating primarily whole plant foods.

The beauty of a low-fat, high fiber food plan, she said, is that participants dont have to count calories or portion out food. They can eat as much as they need to because its healthy and is packed with fiber.

You feel full, you feel satisfied, youre not looking for the next thing to eat, she said. You lose weight, and once you lose it, you maintain it. And I think thats what makes this sort of a diet successful, because its not technically a diet. What it is is a lifestyle change.

Why plant-based?

Vegans avoid animal products for various reasons, from ethical concerns to health concerns to personal preference, but advocates say that animal products also are not worth the cost.

Protein is readily available from plants, Dr. Neal Barnard recently told health professionals at a program at Winchester Medical Center.

Meat and dairy contain hormones and fat, he said, egg yolks raise blood cholesterol, and egg whites are simply a glob of animal protein.

Choosing plant-based foods over others comes down to avoiding missed opportunities to eat something healthier, Dr. Michael Greger writes at his website nutritionfacts.org, a nonprofit public service providing free updates on the latest in nutrition research.

[T]heres an additional opportunity cost to eating unhealthy foods beyond just how bad they themselves may be for our health, he writes.

In terms of weight loss, he said it matters how people get their calories (the energy content of food.)

A calorie is not necessarily a calorie, Greger says in a trailer for his new book How Not to Diet, posted at his site.

A hundred calories of chickpeas has a different impact than 100 calories of chicken or Chiclets based on their different ... factors such as absorption, appetite or our microbiome, he said. [E]ven the exact same foods eaten differently can have different effects. The context in which we eat matters too.

The terms vegan and plant-based are interchangeable, Michel said, but plant-based carries with it a connotation of being healthier than a vegan diet that simply eliminates meat, dairy and eggs.

A vegan diet can still be high in fat, sugar and other refined carbohydrates while being low in fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, beans and legumes.

Barnard and Michel also stressed that those who dont eat meat should take a Vitamin B-12 supplement.

Plant-based diets are successful for weight loss because people can eat a greater volume of food so they dont feel deprived, Michel said.

Youre replacing high-calorie density foods with large quantities of low-calorie density foods, she said. You can eat till youre full, and thats the whole thing.

She referenced the 2017 BROAD study, a randomized, controlled trial that used a whole food plant-based diet to address obesity, ischaemic (coronary) heart disease and diabetes. It was published in the journal Nutrition & Diabetes and is indexed online at ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/28319109.

The study concluded that it led to significant improvements in BMI, cholesterol and other risk factors. To the best of our knowledge, this research has achieved greater weight loss at 6 and 12 months than any other trial that does not limit energy intake or mandate regular exercise.

Michel said trial participants lost an average of 19 pounds during the three-month study, but even after six-month and 12-month check-ins had maintained their weight loss.

Making the switch

Those starting a plant-based diet should know that non-meat and non-dairy options can be highly processed, greatly reducing their fiber and nutritional density while increasing sodium.

Unlike some other diets, though, the plant-based diet embraces nutrient-rich carbohydrates.

Carbs arent what people should be worried about, she said. Refined carbohydrates and refined starches are the problem.

Avoiding processed foods and oils isnt always easy, though, and Michel said she aims to keep those types of foods to 20 percent of her diet.

In general, she tries to avoid highly processed foods such as chips, flaked cereals and fake meat, instead choosing minimally processed foods like steel-cut oats and fresh tofu, or moderately processed foods like applesauce and rolled oats.

It does take a little bit of planning, she said. It doesnt have to be done expensively.

Beans and rice are inexpensive, she pointed out, and although certain fruits and vegetables (berries, celery and anything with a thin skin) are healthier if organic, she said its more important not to avoid eating produce.

I think part of the reason why plant-based diets are so foreign for people is its not the way we grew up, she said. Its not the way we learned how to eat. Its not what our food culture is in this country.

However, she said its a lifestyle anyone can do if they make the effort to learn about and prepare healthy foods.

Its the best diet for weight loss. Its the best diet for almost any condition, she said.

You have one diet that fits all sizes. I think thats the real beauty of it.

The Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine has an app for starting a plant-based diet, called the 21-Day Vegan Kickstart, for Apple and Android devices. For more information, visit kickstart.pcrm.org/en.

Scandal-hit Japan lawmakers sorry but otherwise tight-lipped as Diet opens – The Japan Times

Former Cabinet ministers and lawmakers involved in gift and money scandals apologized again Monday as they returned to the Diet for its ordinary session, but offered no new details despite mounting calls for them to explain themselves.

I feel deeply sorry for harming public trust in politics, former Justice Minister Katsuyuki Kawai told reporters as the regular Diet session started. I should refrain from comment as investigations are underway.

Kawai and his wife, Upper House lawmaker Anri Kawai, both from the ruling Liberal Democratic Party, have faced allegations that they were involved in daily allowance payments by her office to campaign staffers for the July Upper House election that exceeded their legal limit.

Prosecutors have already searched their offices, alleging that the countrys public elections law may have been breached.

Anri Kawai told reporters, I will explain when investigations are done.

Katsuyuki Kawais resignation as justice minister in October came only days after Isshu Sugawara gave up his post as trade minister over separate money and gift-giving allegations.

Sugawara made his first public appearance in about three months Monday after suffering from what he described as sleeping disorders.

Surrounded by about 50 reporters, Sugawara declined to give details, noting that a criminal complaint against him had been filed with Tokyo prosecutors.

I apologize for my resignation causing a stir and trouble to many people, Sugawara said.

If requested by the authorities, I will cooperate sincerely. Id like to explain the whole story at an appropriate time, a sweating Sugawara said.

The former trade minister quit after a weekly magazine reported that his secretary had offered 20,000 ($182) in condolence money to the bereaved family of a supporter in his Tokyo constituency in mid-October.

The magazine also alleged that Sugawara had handed expensive melons and crabs to local supporters.

The public offices election law bans politicians from making donations to voters in their home constituencies. Politicians are allowed to offer money personally at ceremonies such as weddings and funerals.

Prime Minister Shinzo Abe acknowledged his responsibility for appointing Kawai and Sugawara in a Cabinet reshuffle in September.

As the 150-day Diet session began, opposition parties were preparing to grill Abe over a controversial state-funded cherry blossom-viewing party and a bribery scandal related to the introduction of casinos in Japan.

The administrations casino push suffered a setback after Tsukasa Akimoto, a former LDP lawmaker who led the effort, was arrested on suspicion of receiving money from a Chinese gambling company that had sought to launch a casino business in Japan.

LDP lawmaker Toshimitsu Funahashi, one of the five lawmakers to whom the Chinese firm reportedly paid money, bowed in apparent apology to the prime minister.

Funahashi, who has denied receiving money from the Chinese company, said to reporters on Monday, I dont have anything to say.

Another lawmaker Mikio Shimoji was expelled from Nippon Ishin no Kai after admitting to receiving 1 million from the Chinese company. He only said he is not going to talk.

The average adult will try this shocking number of diets in their lifetime – Ladders

As of 2018, the weightloss market is worth an estimated $70 billion. This staggering figure is staffed by the 45 million people that take up at least one new diet per year.

When everything is taken into account the average adult will try about 126 different diets in their lifetime.

This data comes courtesy of a new survey conducted by One Poll and commissioned by Love Fresh Berries.

The three most popular reasons the respondents picked up an emergency diet are as follows: wanting to be more satisfied when looking in the mirror(24%), preparing for holidays or a vacation where a lot of food will be served (21%) and getting ready for a big event (18%.)

A lack of consensus regarding long-term application kept the vast majority of the 2,000 participating respondents from seeing a diet through to their goal weight. Fifty-two percent of the study pool said that they didnt really know what made one regimen more sustainable over another.

An additional 20% admitted that they have no idea where to find reliable nutrition guidelines. In fact, the respondents were so perplexed by diet science 33% thought that it was actually healthier to eat fewer fruits.

In their defense, nutrition standards are infamously inconsistent, especially as it pertains to fad diets. Sadly this is by design. As previouslyreported by Ladders, theJournal of Public Policy and Marketingidentified four commercial tactics used by name brand companies to capitalize on emergency trend diets i.e underscoring things like low fat to belie the impression that a product is healthy even though there are a myriad of products that are low in fat and high in other things that do not contribute to optimal health.

There are plenty of trendy diets that offer substantive benefits but only if you adopt them with the long-view in mind.

Just about 50% of the participants looked to Google when in the market for a new crash diet,27% would consult a medical professional,15% rely on a combination of social media and self-help books and the remaining kept an eye out for whatever their favorite celebrity was doing it.These routes led to the Keto diet the most often, followed by intermittent fasting.

Irrespective of the method of discovery most dropped their diet plan afterjust six days.

Despite this average 16% said that they were so desperate to lose weight quickly they would drink12glasses of lemon juice every day if it meant they would. Some said instead of lemon juice they would use baby food and one in 20 said that they would eat a tapeworm to slim down.

The reasons for dropping diets were varied. For some, the side effects associated with the early stages of emergency diets, namely fatigue (21%), weakness (29%), and headaches (26%), were just too much to bear.

Others enjoyed food too much.Chocolate, bread, andpastawere the top three most difficult foods to cut.

January tends to be the month when people embark on fad diets as a quick fix. However, we know that it isnt a sustainable or even healthy approach, explained Love Fresh Berries chairman Nick Marston in a statement. Instead, nutritionists advise that we follow evidence-based nutritional advice and look for a well-balanced diet that does not cut out any food groups. Incorporating lots of fruit and vegetables is important, including berries as they have many important nutritional benefits.

Sticking to a diet plan doesnt exclusively come down to self-control. Research has shown that those who establish goals that go beyond cosmetics not only commit to their diets longer theyre also more forgiving of themselves when they breach them. This mindset is also helpful when finding transitioning to a regimen more aligned with your specific objectives.

Make a plan, consider a contingency and accept that lapses are inevitable.

Eat whole foods

Adopt a simple diet high in whole foods such as fresh fruits and vegetables while cutting back on processed, junk foods. Fruits and veggies are low in calories but tend to be high in fibre and other essential nutrients that can be beneficial for your weight and overall health. Include more of low-carb veggies and lean protein in your diet for better weight loss results.

Limit intake of carbs

Research has shown that a low-carb diet can help you lose weight fast and improve health. Decreasing the intake of carb, even for a few days, can help reduce bloating and water weight. For optimal benefits, try to eliminate or drastically limit the intake of sugars and starchy carbs for the week. You can replace these foods with healthier alternatives such as lean meats, eggs, fish, etc.

Try intermittent fasting

Following intermittent fasting (IF) is a simple, yet, effective plan when trying to lose fat fast. There are different types of intermittent fasting that can aid your weight loss by reducing your calorie intake. These plans, ranging from 16:8, 5:2, 20:4, time-restricted fasting or longer fasts, can be incorporated into your daily lifestyle.

Practice portion control

This will not only help you lose weight but also prevent excessive energy intake, which is not required. Research has linked larger portions to an increased risk of obesity. So, divide the portions in half and opt for the smaller ones. A simple trick to managing weight would be to choose larger portions with low-energy-dense foods.

Avoid water retention

Here, were talking about 'water weight' and not chronic water retention, which may indicate a serious health problem such as malfunctioning of kidneys or hormones. The fact is that bloating or water weight can be a result of a poor lifestyle that can be remedied without a trip to the doctor. There are many ways that can help you reduce water weight and get leaner naturally - one such is coffee, which may help you burn more fat and get rid of excess water due to the presence of caffeine.

Increase your activity level

Increase your daily physical activity to help you burn more calories and shed the pounds. Making simple lifestyle changes such as taking stairs instead of the elevators, biking, going for a brisk walk on a regular basis will enable youto move more and yield results without going to the gym.

Make sure that you optimise your diet and fitness regime to help you lose weight effectively.
