48-year-old women credits veganism for her youthful looks – Yahoo News

A 48-year-oldvegansays she looks better now than she did in her 20s, and credits her vegan diet for her youthful looks.

Victoria Featherstone Pearce from east London is regularly mistaken for being in her late 20s. She believes its due to plant-based eating, no alcohol and cruelty-free skincare routine.

She turned vegan 15 years ago, at 33, after learning about the dark side of the dairy industry.

The model and charity owner has never had botox and believes her lifestyle choices have impacted her appearance.

I am not ashamed to say I feel and look good I want to continue rocking it and being sexy until I am 90! She admits.

In the modelling industry, I have had experiences where we have spoke over the phone and I will be dismissed due to my age. People hear I am 48 and a distorted image appears in their mind just because I am older it doesn't mean I look it.

I believe mature models have a lot more to offer and I dont want to be just a number.

Shes not the first model to appear to defy ageing at 48. Earlier this year,Claudia Schiffer posed nakedfor a magazine cover at the same age.

The modelling industry has traditionally favoured younger models, a bias that Victoria has encountered in her professional career.

Recently, I lied about my age for a German commercial casting the age bracket cut off at 38 so I tried my luck and got the job!

I told the truth when they employed me, and they couldnt believe I was a decade older.

The industry needs to change as its also contributes to women of all ages feeling bad about themselves when really modelling should give women confidence, not take it.

Shes an advocate formental healthas well as veganism after suffering fromdepressionsince she was 21-years-old.

I have been depressed for a long time due to finding out my dad wasnt my real dad at 21 years of age. Depression doesnt have a face; most people are shocked when they hear I am.

Victoria has continued her work as a successful model, and she wouldnt be the only one to believe a vegan lifestyle is the key to feeling and looking healthier.

Story continues

Veganism has quadrupledin the last four years, with the likes ofSimon Cowelladopting the lifestyle change and dramatically losing 1.4 stone of weight in the process.

Recently, 33-year-old Megan Fox revealed her children go to a sustainable, vegan school.

We send them to an organic, sustainable, vegan school where theyre seed-to-table, they plant their own food. They grow it, they harvest it and they take it to local restaurants to sell it, so they understand how all of that works. She explained inan interview.

Cut the cookie: digital advertising’s overdue diet – The Drum

Lets face it: third-party cookies have always been a stop-gap solution, largely unfit for the task of long-term user tracking and targeting. Increased emphasis on consumer privacy, led by GDPR and the impending California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), has only accelerated wider acknowledgment and acceptance of this well-kept secret that most of the people in ad tech knew all along.

Already, the main browsers have either stopped cookie use altogether or at least restricted it significantly, while the fall of the cookie was a key talking point at this years Dmexco.

So as we approach the next decade, the collapse of the third-party cookie seems inevitable and imminent, begging the question: what should digital doomsday preppers be doing to future proof their advertising investments and media businesses?

Third-party cookie-based tracking has trained marketers to become accustomed to attributing performance to users and audiences, rather than media and outcomes. But knowing which user clicked is not as important as knowing which message or environment got them to click, or what actions they took on a webpage after the click occurred. By resetting marketer expectations to focus on metrics like brand engagement, landing page conversions, and on-domain actions, marketers can start to gain visibility into the performance of direct media investment, using first-party cookies and on-domain user behaviour tracking without the need for third-party cookies.

Multi-touch attribution has earned a premium spot in the advanced marketing toolkit, but what meaningful actions can be taken with this data? How can we adjust strategies with a fractional attribution model? By eschewing measurement tactics that rely on third-party cookies, marketers have the opportunity to re-evaluate how they invest their media and assess performance. Real-world business outcomes, like sales, store visits, test drives and completed applications can all be achieved - and measured - without using third-party cookies. And isnt knowing business lift driven by media investment more meaningful than exposure-to-conversion reporting anyways?

Publishers understand their audiences and can group these site visitors into valuable segments for media buyers. Similarly, advertisers understand who their customers are and why they engage with their brand. The current programmatic trading paradigm, which relies on third-party cookies as its currency, is designed to push publishers and advertisers apart, while ad tech handles the important task of cookie matching and audience segment creation.

But if ad tech isnt enabling unique publisher audiences to be activated on good first-party advertiser data, then it isnt doing its job. Activation of audiences can be done in a more persistent and privacy-friendly way when agencies can go direct-to-publisher and not rely on a half dozen third-party syncs in between. By facilitating principals - the owners of the data, relationships, and budgets - and media owners to connect directly with each other, ad tech can re-empower the largest value creators in the ecosystem while carving out a meaningful position for itself in the supply chain.

The above scenarios require the workings and measurement of digital advertising to be fundamentally rethought. It is the job of the technology providers who power the tools and platforms that enable these buying, targeting, and measurement tactics to also start the difficult work of finding technology-led solutions to unravel the industrys over-reliance on cookies.

For starters, the programmatic advertising process yields details of where ads appear such as page content, device, operating system and browser. Free of personally identifiable information (PII), these can be used to create audience segments and monitor campaign effectiveness in a way that is as useful as third-party cookies.

Contextual targeting, currently undervalued and under-explored, is poised to re-discover a premium place among brand advertisers keen to have their campaign appear in the right place to reach their target audience. Recently, weve seen major investments from private equity firms, agency holding groups, and major tech players in contextual targeting offerings.

With historical industry efforts focused on optimising cookie-dependent machine-learning models, there is now a major opportunity for ad tech providers to leverage machine-based approaches to build cookie-less models that predict audience interests and behaviours, exposure frequency and conversion potential by context category. Google recently announced movements in this direction, using machine-learning models to create a privacy-safe approach to managing ad frequency.

Astute readers may notice that ID consortiums (open identity frameworks that can be used to target audiences) are not included in this analysis. While these are good initiatives, most are built around consolidating third-party cookies, which feeds our collective sweet tooth and doesnt solve the longer-term industry challenge.

The digital advertising industrys enforced reduction of cookie consumption wont be comfortable. However, I would anticipate that the companies currently focused on innovating for a future that doesnt rely on the third-party cookie will be healthier businesses for it, while also delivering on the promise of performance for advertisers, yield for publishers, and privacy for consumers.

Gal Gadot Looks Stronger Than Ever in the First Trailer for Wonder Woman 1984 – Prevention.com

Mike MarslandGetty Images

In the new trailer for Wonder Woman 1984, you can watch Gal Gadot swing massive distances from Wonder Womans lasso of truth, repel bullets with her forearms, and send a fully-loaded Humvee somersaulting into the air. It might be easy to assume the action-packed clip was pulled off by stunt masters and special effects, but Gadot trained like a real-life superhero to make it all happen.

After the release of the first movie, the actress discussed her training in multiple interviews, and will likely do the same when 1984 premieres in June 2020. We can safely assume that if her second round of training differed at all from the first, it wouldve grown even more intenseif thats humanly possible.

According to her interview on Live with Kelly and Ryan, training for the first film was a lot more intensive than her time in the Israeli army, which is kind of a big deal. She told the co-hosts that she trained six hours a day for six months prior to shooting. I did two hours [of] gym work, two hours [of] fight choreography and one and a half hourstwo hours horseback riding, which is super hard! she said. When people used to tell me, Yeah, I do sport, I ride horses, I was like, Thats not sport, the horse does everything. But no! Youll be surprised, its so painful.

When shes not training specifically for her superhero side, she works out regularly to stay in shape. I cant say too much about my training regime but we do work out a lotwe do a lot of different martial arts, she told Harpers Bazaar. In my ordinary life when I dont work, I like to paddle board and do TRX. On her Instagram, she can also be spotted boxing and rock climbing.

And its not always easy, because Gadot is a self-proclaimed foodie. So during crunch time, one of her trainers, Hayley Bradley, has a basic rule that applies to every meal. Balance each meal with equal amounts of protein and greens, and to be wary of seemingly healthy choices like green juice, which can be highly caloric thanks to the large amounts of natural sugars in some fruits and veggies, she told InStyle.

Gadot told Bazaar that her regular diet is all about moderation. I love to experience food, but at the same time I look at food as fuel and I want to give the best to my body, she said. So of course I have my bad things that I eat like burgers or ice cream with chocolate. I dont restrict myself, I can eat everything Its all a matter of measurements and quantity of the food.

To face the Soviet Union and her arch nemesis Cheetah in WW 1984, she may have made a few tweaks, but sometimes, thats what it takes to save the world from evil.

How a keto diet helped this food writer lose 25 pounds in 2 months even over Thanksgiving – msnNOW

nadianb/Shutterstock How a Keto Diet Helped Me Lose 25 Pounds in 2 Months Even Over ThanksgivingWriting about food for a living, as Ive been doing for the better part of the past 10 years, makes each day at the office a gauntlet of temptation. On any given day, doughnuts might arrive from Krispy Kreme for breakfast, some fried chicken from Popeyes could show up around lunchtime and any assortment of goodies could make their way to our desks throughout the day, especially around the holidays.

Thats why I knew that starting, and maintaining, the keto diet would be a serious challenge. Cutting out carbs and sweets meant saying no to a lot of those tasty treats that circulate through the office as well as adopting a whole new way of eating. But two months, 25 pounds and one Thanksgiving later, I think its safe to say that if I can do it, anyone can.

Dan Myers

If youre unfamiliar with the keto diet, heres a quick primer: By strictly limiting carbohydrate intake (usually to no more than 20 or 30 carbs per day) and increasing fat intake, you put your body into whats called ketosis. During ketosis, your body no longer burns glucose (which is what carbs are broken down into) for energy, but instead burns fat. Obviously the details of ketosis are a lot more complicated than this, but thats the gist of it.

Starting the keto diet comes with a big learning curve. So much of the standard American diet revolves around carbs that many of us dont even realize how carb-laden certain things are, and holiday foods, in particular, are especially carby (hello, mashed potatoes, stuffing and mac and cheese all sharing a plate). Sure, bread, pasta, potatoes, rice, beans and sweets are loaded with carbs, but it was a bit of a shock to learn that a can of Campbells tomato soup contains 45 carbs, for example, or that a slice of apple pie contains 51 carbs and that Trader Joes cauliflower pizza crust which sounds like it should be low-carb contains 17 carbs per slice (of which there are six). Cocktails and beer are also out of the equation, sadly.

On the other hand, its been refreshing to learn how many foods contain few or no carbs. Meat is essentially carb-free, as are eggs, many cheeses and lots of vegetables. Some vegetables are higher in carbs than others (including carrots, corn, peas, butternut squash and sweet potatoes), but the vast majority are keto-friendly. There are also plenty of keto-friendly snacks, including Whisps and Moon Cheese (which are made out of cheese thats baked until it gets hard and crunchy), nuts (in moderation), seaweed snacks, meat sticks, plain yogurt, Mini Babybels and pork rinds. New products like Crepinis Egg Thins, which are essentially carb-free crepes, and Unbuns, buns that are made with almond flour and contain only 5 net carbs, are also changing the low-carb landscape.

After deciding to take the plunge, my wife and I got into ketosis within a week (some experience a general malaise called keto flu as the body adapts, but that didnt happen to us) and quickly got into a rhythm. Planning meals in advance has really helped: During the weekend, well prep for the week ahead by making egg muffins (eggs and a variety of add-ins baked in muffin tins) and chia pudding (chia seeds and unsweetened almond milk, sweetened with stevia) mixed with yogurt for breakfast, and by shopping for lots of meats, seafood, veggies and salad greens for lunch and dinner. I also whip up a big batch of mustard vinaigrette with avocado or olive oil, which goes great on everything from salad to pork tenderloin, and weve begun experimenting with spice blends, like berbere, tandoor masala and herbes de Provence to keep things interesting.

Video: Surprising Reasons to Eat an Avocado

UP NEXT

The Holidays are bound to be difficult for dieters, and Thanksgiving was no exception. The impending carb-heavy traditional meal hung over our heads as we started the diet, but with some advance planning, the holiday proved to not be nearly as challenging as it could have been. We got in touch with the host a couple weeks in advance and let them know the situation (just as anyone with any dietary restrictions should do), and so in lieu of mashed potatoes and stuffing, we loaded our plates with turkey, roasted Brussels sprouts with bacon, prosciutto-wrapped asparagus, roasted curry-spiced cauliflower and a tricolor salad with toasted pecans and goat cheese. Instead of gravy, we topped the turkey with some reserved pan juices from the roasting. Doesnt sound so bad, does it?

Since starting the diet, weve definitely noticed some changes. Not only have we both lost a significant amount of weight and inches, were both sleeping deeper and are generally more alert. And because our bodies are fueled by fat instead of carbs, were no longer experiencing the dreaded carb crash at work.

Obviously, the keto diet isnt for everybody, and Im not claiming to be an expert on all of its ins and outs. Its more of a lifestyle than a diet, which means that if we go back to eating as many carbs as we used to, well begin metabolizing glucose for energy instead of fat again and well most likely gain all the weight back. And we know that once we get to our ideal weight, maintaining it will be another challenge unto itself. But were taking it one day at a time, learning as we go, and knowing that if we can make it through the Holidays, we can make it through anything.

Weight loss: The 4 keto diet mistakes that could be making you fatter and how to avoid them – The Sun

FROM Kim Kardashian to Tyson Fury - droves of celebrities have credited the keto diet for keeping them in shape.

They claim that ditching carbs has helped them to target stubborn areas of fat without having to cut out lots of calories.

1

However, dietitian Robbie Clark has revealed that going keto could actually make you gain weight - if you're not following the right steps.

And he says that many dieters make some big mistakes which mean their body doesn't get into a state of "ketosis" and "burn fat for energy instead of glucose".

Here, Robbie explains common mistakes people make on a keto diet that could be making you fatter...and how to avoid them.

Robbie says one of the most common mistakes he finds in terms of clinical practice is that people are reducing their carbohydrate intake cold turkey.

Theyve gone from a diet that is probably consumed moderate or high amounts of carbs to an extremely low amount, and this is a drastic change for the body," he told news.com.au.

"This is when theyre at risk of the keto flu.

Going from a diet that is probably consumed moderate or high amounts of carbs to an extremely low amount is a drastic change for the body

"The keto flu is the body adapting to the whole process in a large depletion in glucose.

"And the symptoms can include nausea, headaches, fatigue, insomnia, constipation and reduced exercise tolerance."

Robbie recommendstapering down carb intake instead of reducing the level at an extreme rate.

An important thing to do on a keto diet is to keep drinking enough water.

The drastic decrease in carbs can cause shifts in fluids and electrolyte balance.

The body is washed-out of a lot of fluid especially when losing fat mass as well," Robbie says.

"The body flushes out the ketones in the urine which also depletes not just water but sodium, an important electrolyte, from the body."

According to Robbie, this is something that needs to be replaced.

Vegetables have carbohydrates and for a lot of people, this means watching how much is actually consumed.

If youre not careful of the types of carbs on the keto diet, the affect is that people wont stay in that ketosis state.

Robbie says: "On the other hand, the ketogenic diet is a low carbohydrate diet and not a no carbohydrate diet.

What is the keto diet?

The keto diet involves eating lots of "good" fat, to curb hunger pangs, while cutting out carbs and eating moderate amounts of protein.

It's said to boost energy levels and help speed up weight loss.

The diet relies on a normal metabolic process called ketosis - that helps the body keep working.

It's where the body, starved of carbs for energy, starts to burn fat reserves instead.

For healthy people, who don't have diabetes and aren't pregnant, ketosis usually kicks in after three or four days of following the plan and eating less than 50g of carbs a day.

That's about three slices of bread, two small bananas or a low-fat fruit yog.

So if you're cutting out all those carbs, what can you eat?

Fat is the answer! It should make up about 60 to 80 per cent of total daily calories, while protein makes up 10 to 15 per cent and carbs are less than 10 per cent.

And it's not just a calorie free-for-all. Keto enthusiasts should cap their daily intake at 1,800 calories a day.

If it sounds like Atkins, it's not far off - the main difference being limiting protein on a daily basis.

"In order to meet all of our individual nutrient requirements, particularly with vitamins, minerals and fibre, the vegetable play a pivotal role in meeting these requirements.

"The goal is to educate yourself or get an education from a health professional, like myself, who can guide you for the best types of lower carbohydrate based vegetables so youre not at risk of malnutrition."

Its important to check with a local doctor or a dietitian when thinking about undergoing the keto diet for the first time.

Theres a protocol that determines whether a person is suitable for the keto diet, particularly for healthy people to follow.

Robbie says that there are population groups who should avoid the keto diet.

Getting Help, and Giving Back – The New York Times

He wasnt getting fed the quality of food he really needed for his day-to-day survival, Ms. Lee said. Then one night were sitting on the porch and I hear preaching. Dacian and I walked seven blocks until we stumbled into a huge community dinner.

Pushing her sons stroller, Ms. Lee had happened upon the Freedom Gathering, a church-affiliated dinner that serves as many as 200 people every Thursday in a small vacant lot. Clothing and free to-go lunches are offered there as well.

Seven blocks is a long way to hear someone preaching, Ms. Lee said. And I never really heard it again. It led us to that dinner, which saved us in so many ways.

From the Freedom Gathering, Ms. Lee was referred to a pair of nearby food pantries: Hungers End, which provides groceries, clothing and hygiene products to more than 500 families a month, and Our Daily Bread, which serves meals to about 250 people a day, seven days a week. They are among the 200 food banks affiliated with Feeding America, a beneficiary agency of The New York Times Neediest Cases Fund.

Our Daily Breads self-serve pantry has provided Ms. Lee with essentials like diapers as well as coffee, canned soup and peanut butter. When fresh produce or organic macaroni and cheese comes through, Ms. Lee said, volunteers often set it aside for her. In 2018, Feeding Tampa Bay, part of Feeding Americas national network, began delivering organic food to Hungers End and other pantries in the Bradenton area. Twice a month, an outdoor pantry is assembled and opened to anyone in need. Ms. Lee returned from her most recent visit to the Hungers End fresh market with organic butter, coconut milk, mangoes, brussels sprouts and raspberries.

Because she cares for Dacian full time, money is tight. The $146 she receives in food stamps each month covers just one weeks groceries; she pays for another week out of her $700 monthly Social Security check. Utilities run about $300, leaving little for Ms. Lee to save or spend on herself.

Ms. Lee knew it was imperative to remove processed foods and refined sugars from her sons diet. Once his diet improved, Dacians symptoms subsided significantly and he started sleeping through the night for the first time in his life.

The 1 Thing Beyonce Tells Herself to Combat the Haters – Showbiz Cheat Sheet

The queen has spoken. And no we arent talking about Queen Elizabeth II. We mean the queen of all things, Beyonce. Throughout the years, Bey has become so private, only allowing her fans to know what she wants them to about her life. So anytime she gives an interview, people are waiting with baited breath and hanging on every word.

Well, Beyonce finally let a little bit of her wall down in her newest interview with Elle. Heres what we learned:

In Beyonces Netflix documentary, Homecoming, we learned about the stars very strict dieting habbits, but when answering a question about the last time that she went to a grocrey store, she revealed that she snacks just like the rest of us.

The last time I went to a supermarket, it was more like a bodega before a Madonna concert, she said. Jayand I snuck into one in Crenshaw and bought some Cuervo and Funyuns chips. Andyall know you see me at Target and I see yall trying to sneak pics.

Beyonces body has been through a lot of changes throughout her time in the spotlight. From having kids to dieting and training for huge shows, her weight is often going up and down.

If someone told me 15 years ago that my body would go through so many changes and fluctuations, and that I would feel more womanly and secure withmy curves, I would not have believed them, she told the outlet. But children and maturity have taught me to value myself beyond my physical appearance and really understand that I am more than enough no matter what stage Im at in life. Giving zero fs is the most liberating place to be.

Though the star makes it look easy, Beyonce still struggles to balance her career with being available to her kids.

I think the most stressful thing for me is balancing work and life, she said. Making sure I am present for my kidsdropping Blue off at school, taking Rumi and Sir to their activities, making time fordate nights with my husband, and being home in time to have dinner with my family. Juggling all of those roles can be stressful, but I think thats life for any working mom.

Before Beyonce became a mom, she was focused on being the best. Now, her priorities have shifted.

Success looks different to me now, she said. Havingmiscarriagestaught me that I had to mother myself before I could be a mother to someone else. Then I had Blue, and the quest for my purpose became so much deeper. I died and was reborn inmy relationship, and the quest for self became even stronger.

Being number one was no longer my priority. My true win is creating art and a legacy that will live far beyond me. Thats fulfilling.

When youre famous, you constantly have to deal with other peoples opinions about every move that you make. The negative comments do get to the music mogul every now and then, but she has a way to combat all that.

I try to remind myself that Im strong and Im built for this, she said. Thank God most of the noise bounces off of me after all of these years.

This Guy Trained Like The Rock for 60 Days and Got Shredded – menshealth.com

Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson has one of the most muscular physiques of all of Hollywood. The actor reportedly measures 6'5'' in height and weighs roughly 260 pounds. To stay in peak action star shape, he trains hard, combining intense weight room sessions with cardio and core workouts.

YouTuber Isaiah Photo, known for pulling stunts like hugging 1,000 trees to plant 20,000,000 more and storming Area 51, decided to try out the Rock's workout routine for 30 days. Isaiah, to be clear, isn't a fitness YouTuber, and describes himself as having a classic "dad bod" before the challenge begins. Don't try this yourselfand if you do, make sure to work with a coach or trainer to start to make sure you're using proper form for each exercise.

The YouTuber doesn't explain exactly where he got The Rock's workout split, which changes according to the role the actor is prepping for and other factors. Isiah could've followed this leg day routine from Johnson's strength coach, Dave Rienzi or this recent arm day workout posted to Instagram, for examplebut overall, the video follows a relatively normal plan. Mondays and Thursdays are back and bicep days, where he does deadlifts, pull ups, seated cable rows, face pulls, hammer curls, and dumbbell curls.

Tuesday and Fridays focused on the chest, triceps, and shoulders with bench presses, overhead presses, incline dumbbell presses, tricep pushdowns, overhead tricep extensions, and lateral raises.

Wednesday is his leg day, where he kills his quads, hamstrings and glutes with squats, Romanian deadlifts, leg presses, leg curls, and calf raises.

In addition to working out like The Rock, Isaiah also attempted to eat like him, which meant cutting out carbs, fats, and sugars, increasing protein intake, and eating 3,500 calories daily. Directly after every workout, he drank a protein shake, with another protein bar later in the day.

Initially, Isaiah planned to only work out like The Rock for a month, but after seeing so much improvement in his physique, the YouTuber decided to continue the challenge for another month, totaling 60 days.

Isaiah noted that the first 30 days he may have killed in in the gym, but was a little sloppy with his diet, drinking on the weekends and cheating with ice cream periodically, but for days 30 to 60 he promised to be perfect with his diet.

On day 39 Isaiah said, "Not having sugar in literally anything is so hard. It's in literally everything we eat." He continued, "I'm getting so sick of tuna and hardboiled eggs, and just want to throw up at the thought of it."

Still, Isaiah got through it, and by day 48, he noticed that his workout routine and diet had became the norm, making his drastic lifestyle changes significantly easier towards the end of the challenge.
