Long and Woolever firmly believe in the transformative power of group personal training. They note that such training requires trainers to give hands on assessment and corrective exercises, to truly understand the bodies and needs of their clients.

Experts Gain Valuable Fitness Business Tips At “7 Figure” Sam’s San Diego Mastermind

Fitness Business legend, 7 Figure Sam Bakhtiar CEO of the Fit Concepts boot camps in Chino Hills, California left fellow entrepreneurs with valuable lessons at his latest mastermind seminar in San Diego. More information can be found at http://www.Super-Trainer.com.
Chino Hills, CA (PRWEB) October 01, 2012
Sam taught me that you can charge more money for small group training because its still less expensive than the one-on-one training people are used to. So my hourly rate can be somewhere in the $200-$300 range, she says. He also taught me that its all about providing more value than the average local gym. By creating a tribe and making my clients feel special and supported, I can generate more referrals. Callie added that she left the mastermind with countless ideas for improving her business value. She plans to throw appreciation parties, create fun contests with prizes to drive bigger and better results, send out cards to make each individual feel valued, and get more involved on Facebook.
At Sams San Diego mastermind, he also recommended keeping groups small between 8 and 12. That way, clients are encouraged to form a bond with their fellow trainees and begin to feel like they dont want to miss out on what everyone else is doing. Also, its easier to know each client by name and scale the workouts to a persons individual fitness level.
Clients should be given an amazing experience both in and out of the gym. They should feel energized and more confident after a good workout. In addition to the regular sessions, training studio owners should throw appreciation parties, organize 5-K run teams, feature contests, and give shout-outs to people who are meeting their goals. Giving out water bottles, studio-specific Livestrong style bracelets, gym bags, and other promotional items makes members feel valued as well.
Giving away complementary services like supplements, nutrition coaching, and learning seminars will boost the value of a training studio too. Remember, if youre not giving away the full package, there is another local fitness business that is, Sam tells his group. The landscape has become more competitive over the years, so you need to do a little bit more to keep pace.
Lastly, tracking progress and results is critical. Assessing inches, body fat and weight every six weeks and taking progress photos is a great way to create testimonial narratives and make members feel more motivated to continue their success.

Fitness celebrity to motivate students

A personal trainer from MTVs reality show, I Used to Be Fat, is stepping out of the limelight and onto Western Illinois Universitys Macomb campus.
Joey Gloor will be visiting campus from Tuesday, Oct. 2 through Thursday, Oct. 4, to host a series of events ranging from lunch and dinners in residence halls to interactive lifting sessions, lectures and classes.
I Used to Be Fat is a reality series that follows the journey of overweight teens who are given a personal trainer and strive to meet their fitness goals through diet and exercise.
On I Used to Be Fat, Gloor worked with college-aged clients in order to transform their lives before starting school, said co-coordinator of the eventJessica Mueller, who is organizing the events. She also noted that Western is the first institution to have him on a college-type tour. His goal is to motivate and inform students about the different aspects of a healthy lifestyle including exercise and healthy eating.
There will be something for everyone, on every level of fitness, Mueller added.
Several departments, including Inter-Hall Council, Sodexo, Chi Omega, the University Union Board and the Council on Student Activities have been working with Gloor and his assistants for six months to put theseprograms together.
The committee wanted to coordinate a program that brought in different departments, Mueller said. We think the programs will benefit any type of student.
Gloor is very excited about his visit to Western.
Im thrilled to be at the WIU campus this month, he said. I remember coming down to Macomb to visit friends when I was in college, and we trained at the rec and had a great time.
So, its very cool to be coming back years later to encourage current students and staff to live life at their best through the transformative power of fitness.

Fitness regime helps Calgarians with spinal cord injuries

A new pilot project is helping people with spinal cord injuries regain some independence.
The free fitness program at the Canadian Paraplegic Association in Calgary is stepping in where government funded therapy ends.
"We're filling a gap because we have some of our clients who are travelling to southern California where a similar facility is. It costs a lot of money," said Toby Redfern, a program manager.
The training is aimed at reactivating muscles and nerves affected by spinal cord injuries and to improve people's breathing and keep them healthier.
Fitness coordinator Kelly Nitchie said the changes he's seen in the first eight weeks of the program are remarkable. "It's exciting to watch it."
Participant Stewart Midwinter broke his neck in a paragliding accident last August. His government funded therapy ran out in December.
"It's hard not to take it personally and feel that the system has just decided you're not going to get any better and that you're basically trapped in the body in this situation forever."
For two hours, three times a week, Midwinter works out in a specially designed gym doing aggressive repetitive exercises. Six weeks ago, Midwinter couldn't sit on a mat unsupported, but now he can.
"Having this program has been a reason to get up in the morning," he said. "My goal is just to be able to sit on the grass in the park, park my chair out of the way and not have anybody be able to see I'm different than everybody else."
