Hot Fitness Model Denies Partying with Tiger Woods Before His Arrest – Extra (blog)

Instagram model Laci Kay Somers is shutting down rumors she was partying with Tiger Woods before his DUI arrest in Jupiter Island, Florida, on Monday.
Reports claimed the hot blonde was in Florida Sunday night, but she tells TMZ she was actually with her mom in L.A. In fact, she says has never met the golfer, nor had any communication with him whatsoever.
Tiger, who was involved in a cheating scandal in 2009, is dating blonde beauty Kristin Smith. The personal stylist was reportedly shopping at Neiman Marcus in Dallas when she heard about Woods arrest. A source told TMZ she said I knew it, I knew it, when she got the call, and began to cry.
According to a police report obtained by Extra, an officer found Woods asleep at the wheel of his 2015 Mercedes just after 2 a.m. The motor was running and the right blinker was flashing. Tiger had to be woken up, and told police he had been golfing in L.A. before admitting "he did not know where he was."
The officer noted the athletes speech was slow and very slurred.
Damage to the vehicle included two flat tires on the drivers side, scrapes and scuffs on the rear bumper, and the right rear tail light was out.
Tiger failed the field sobriety test, including the one-leg stand and nose touch. When asked if he understood the Romberg alphabet test (reciting the alphabet without singing or rhyming), Tiger responded, Yes, recite entire national anthem backwards. After the officer explained the instructions several times, he was able to complete the task.
Woods was taken into custody, where he took a breathalyzer test and blew zeroes.
The report notes that Woods was "cooperative, but described him as sluggish, sleepy, unable to walk alone.
Tiger released a statement, saying, I want the public to know that alcohol was not involved. What happened was an unexpected reaction to prescribed medications. I didnt realize the mix of medications had affected me so strongly.
Jupiter Police Department
According to TMZ, medications listed on the report include Solarex, Vicodin, Torix and Vioxx with a note that he had not taken Vioxx this year.
Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office
Tiger is due in court in July.

The Future of Fitness Is On-the-Go Workouts – Brit + Co

You and your girlfriends have traded in happy hours for SoulCycle and high-intensitybarre sessions. Plus, ClassPass has gotten youtotally addicted to along list of other trendy workouts in local studios that make you feel like a million bucks. The boutique fitness industry is responsible for getting many of us off our butts and motivated to get in shape. But are these classes here to stay? We spoke with Daniel Sobhani CEO of fitness app Freeletics to get his take on what the boutique workout world will look like in the future.
There are classes and products out there that are indeed providing the desired results of their audiences, Sobhani says. Ultimately, the results and how people feel are what it comes down to. The studios and trends that fail to provide a big payoffwont make it in the fitness world of fierce competition. Its a good thing for consumers that the most effectiveworkouts are rising to the top, as these uber-specific studios propel theboutique fitness trend. Sobhani also believes a unique sense of community has also played a significant role in the trends success.
Sobhani tells us that the amazing community each studio builds also gets people to keep going back to a specific studio or class. These studios are niche, some offering specific benefits promised only through their classes. Most importantly, the successful studios motivate their students to return, whether the motivation stems from paying a hefty fee or loving the music played in each class.
All of this sounds great, right? If our beloved boutique studios are offering us great workouts, awesome tunes, and a #fitfamthat can motivate us to get out of bed each morning and feel the burn, then what could possibly be missing and where could the industry go wrong?
According to Sobhani, one thing that many boutique studios are seriously lacking is an on-the-go component. As millennials continue to travel more for work and play, it may increasingly become a challenge for spinning studios, barre classes, and the like to accommodate their mobile needs.
We know from our own [Freeletics] users that [an on-the-go option] is a key aspect to sticking to a workout routine the ability to train anytime, anywhere, and to instantly find training partners, if need be, Sobhani says. People expect constant access to their favorite products or experiences, and these studios that may only exist in one neighborhood cant provide that. We expect fitness products and gyms to provide options for maintaining workout schedules in spite of travel or relocation to another city.
Sobhani also expects that the successful fitness businesses of the future will take a more holistic approach to health. Already, many studios and apps (including Freeletics) are beginning to offer integrated services related to fitness, nutrition, mindfulness, and more. This means a larger focus on wellbeing which includes the mind by either explicitly adding meditation to a schedule, or subtly prioritizing mindfulness as an ultimate goal in the fitness regime, Sobhanisays.
If only the strongest among the boutique fitness industry are likely to survive these ongoing transitions in the business, how are we supposed to know when its time to jump ship and leave our precious classes behind? Sobhani advises that everyone stick to whatever workout regimen keeps them motivated and feeling their best. If the community aspect and catchy tunes at your faveboutique studio encourage you to stick with the program, then go for it! Thanks to technology, though, therell only be more opportunities in the future to reap these benefits in other ways.
There are plenty of options outside of boutique fitness studios that are less expensive or even free, Sobhani says. If youre on a budget, but are still looking for some sort of community wrapped around shared fitness goals, technology has provided us ways to find these groups without cost through Facebook, Meetup, or Freeletics.

"I didn't know how to have a healthy lifestyle other than by training for competitions that I was no longer able to do. My body became weaker, and I also had poor nutrition habits," Velazquez told NBC News.
Her path back to health and fitness made her aware of the struggles of non-athletes and regular moms to get and stay fit. She became a certified fitness instructor so she could help them shape up. Now, her
Her workout schedule
Velazquez works out between four and six times per week and her fitness routines are between 20 and 60 minutes long.
"I prioritize strength training, functional movement patterns and complete three to four strength training sessions per week. I always do full-body routines that are metabolically challenging. I keep it challenging by using moderate to heavier weights and resting less in between exercises."
Her tips to help you make exercise a part of your lifestyle
Velazquez recommends focusing on using fitness as a stress reliever, an energy booster and more importantly, a way to feel stronger in everyday life. When you know that exercising is a great tool to living a healthier and more productive life and not merely as a way to burn the extra calories you ate or to fit into your skinny jeans you'll be more likely to stick with it and enjoy all the benefits.
"Keep your workouts simple and basic and focus on what you can do each day to connect with your body. Make it a goal to become a stronger and each week aim to do a little more. Whether you do 10 or 60 minutes a day, aim to do your best!"

Wonder Woman Gal Gadot gets real about extreme fitness, pageants and heels – USA TODAY

We used the lasso of truth on Gal Gadot, star of the new superhero epicWonder Woman(in theaters this weekend), who answered seven burning questions.
Q: After completing Wonder Woman, did you walk into Justice Leaguewith extra swagger?
A: Literally, the day (after) I wrapped Wonder Woman,I started to shoot Justice League(in theaters Nov. 17). It feels really good to know your character to a degree where you are very opinionated about what she should do and what she shouldnt do.
Q: Which villains do youwantWonder Woman to take on in future films?
A: I love Jesse Eisenberg. Ireally enjoyed what he did with Lex Luthor (in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice). And it just feels like unfinished business there.
Diana Prince (Gal Gadot) takes to the World War I front in 'Wonder Woman.'(Photo: Clay Enos, Warner Bros.)
Q:You gave birth to your second daughter, Maya, two months ago. Are you still in Wonder Woman training?
A: I was training four weeks after I had the baby. But its a different regimen. Its not as intense. And my body needed the time off.
Q: Wonder Womantakes place in World War I. If you can land Diana Prince in another era, which would you pick?
A: I love the '90s just because of the music. All of the sudden, you see her go on roller blades it could be funny! So the '80s or the '90s.
Q:Has the magnitude ofWonder Womansunk in yet?
A: Everything that happens to me, I have a delay in really understanding whats going on. For instance, when I won the Miss Israel pageant and Miss Israel is a big deal in Israel, or at least it used to be I never planned on winning, I just went for the experience. All the sudden, I won. Like, what?! And only after I finished my (reign), I was like, 'Oh, my God, I was Miss Israel! How weird!' It hits me only later.

Q:Is it true that when you competed for Miss Universe in 2004, you didn't pack enough dresses for all the events?
A: Oh,no.I brought everything, but I was rebelling. They wanted us to wear evening gowns for breakfast and cocktail gowns for lunch. It was so ridiculous. I just wore jeansbecauseI was like, 'No way.' But I had many dresses in my suitcase.
Q:You got major praise recently for wearing flats to theWonder Womanpremiere.
A: Thats something Ive been saying for years, that I want to create this trend of doing red carpets in flats. I love wearing high heels its beautiful, its sexy, whatever. But at the same time, especially stilettos, it puts us out of balance. We can fall any minute. Its not good for our backs. Why do we do it? I can wear high heels (despite having a sprained back). But I was like, 'Lets wear flats!' Ive been waiting for this moment.

Fitness Trackers Are Terrible At Counting Calories – Lifehacker – Lifehacker

A fitness wearable promises to aid you in your quest for a healthier life by providing data on how your body responds to physical activity. Theyre good at providing some bits of information and not so good at others. In particular, a new small-scaled study from Stanford University suggests, fitness trackers are not great at measuring calories burned.
A team of researchers tested the accuracy of seven wrist devicesApple Watch, Fitbit Surge, Basis Peak, Microsoft Band, PulseOn, Samsung Gear S2 and MIP Alpha 2on a pool of 60 volunteers (29 men and 31 women), who were told to walk, run and cycle on treadmills and stationary cycles in the lab. Their goal was to see how accurate heart rate and energy expenditure (aka calories burned) measurements were for each device.
The heart rate measurements performed far better than we expected, said Euan Ashley, an associate professor at Stanford University Medical Center and co-author of the study, but the energy expenditure measures were way off the mark. The magnitude of just how bad they were surprised me.
The researchers gathered heart rate data from the wearables and compared it to results from an electrocardiograph. The analysis found that six of the seven devices were relatively on point, boasting an error rate under 5 percent. Only the Samsung Gear S2 had a higher error rate of 6.8 percent, while the most accurate device was the Apple Watch.
Whether youre trying to keep to a strict calorie count, or just get a handle on what kind of
But when it came to calories lostwhich means tracking energy used during a workoutthe results were quite different. The researchers compared data from the tracker to that from an instrument that measures oxygen and carbon dioxide in breath to estimate metabolic rate. Of the five devices that offered this additional feature, the range of error was anywhere from 20 percent to 93 percent.
According to the scientists, the devices should ideally have an error rate lower than 10 percent in non-medical settings. None of the tested devices came close. Even the most accurate device, the Apple Watch, was off by an average of 27 percent. The biggest offender was the PulseOn.
The study found specific groups of people to receive a higher rate of error than others, reports NPR. For instance, darker skinned toned people, those with higher BMIs and men had higher error rates than Caucasian women with a healthy weight. The research team doesnt know why this pattern was seen, but for consumers, this means non-Caucasian individuals, men, and those with larger BMIs should be skeptical of their readings.
Additionally, data for cycling was the most accurate and data for walking was the least accurate.
The study, published in the Journal of Personalized Medicine, has an important takeaway for users of fitness trackersand its not to eliminate them entirely.
According to Ashley, the findings spotlight the importance of understanding that fitness trackers give rough estimates when it comes to calories burned. Part of the problem is that body types and metabolism are so different from person to persona two-mile jog for two people can result in completely different energy expenditure based on factors like gender, age, metabolic rate, height and weight.
The findings are particularly valuable information if you actively use your fitness tracker to monitor caloric intake and base your days diet off of the data. So just because your fitness tracker says you burned 900 calories doesnt mean you can afford to eat an entire pizza. And if youre debating between one of the aforementioned seven devices, the Apple Watch appears to be the way to go.
Get up from your desk! This wont take long. Welcome to Lunch Break Workout, where well share a

Stolen car at Planet Fitness hits State Police SUV in Rochester – 13WHAM-TV

A stolen car investigation in Greece wraps up on 490 near Culver Road Wednesday morning. (13WHAM photo)
Rochester, N.Y. - A 24-year-old woman from Buffalo has been arrested for crashing a car that was taken from from a Greece gym early this morning.
Rochester Police arrested Brittany Jamison on assault 2nd on a police officer, criminal mischief in the 2nd, unlawful fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle, along with various vehicle and traffic charges.
The car was taken from the Planet Fitness parking lot in Greece. It was recovered four hours later in Rochester.
Sandra Matteson realized something was wrong when she couldn't find her keys after working out.
"We go early, when we go early in the morning it's 5a.m. so there are not a lot of people and we know a lot of the people at that time," said Matteson, "so I just throw my keys in a bag in the locker and i never really think to lock it."
Greece police said the keys to Matteson's vehicle were taken from that unlocked locker in the womens locker room at the gym on Dewey Avenue between 5 a.m. and 6 a.m.
An RPD patrol car stopped the car several hours later on N. Clinton Avenue with Jamison behind the wheel. During the traffic stop the officer ran the plates and realized the car was stolen.
Police say Jamison put the car in reverse, nearly hitting the officer. Police say she then hit the officer's patrol car, ran over a street sign and drove away.
The pursuit came to end on Rt. 490 West near the Culver Road exit when the car crashed into the back of a New York State Trooper's SUV. The car was towed away, and a Jamison was taken into custody.
The woman who had her car stolen is the mother-in-law of 13WHAM photojournalist Jake Honan.
Honan heard about the incident in the morning, then listened to the chase on the police scanners while in the newsroom.
"Normally, we don't know the car, the people or anything, so it was kind of extra adrenaline to find the car that I've ridden in plenty of times before," said Honan, who was assigned to cover the chase.
More charges could be pending.

Motorcycling: Rossi passes Italian MotoGP fitness test – Reuters

ROME Yamaha's MotoGP great Valentino Rossi has been passed fit to compete at his home Italian Grand Prix this weekend after injuring his abdomen and chest in a motocross accident.
The team said in a statement that the nine-times world champion had undergone a medical at the Mugello circuit on Thursday afternoon.
"Fans from all over the world can breathe a sigh of relief," it added, saying that medical heads representing the circuit, federation and series had all declared the 38-year-old to be "in a suitable condition" to race.
Rossi, third in the championship after five races, will be on track in free practice on Friday.
MotoGP organizers said he had been excused attendance at a scheduled news conference on Thursday in order to "minimize his commitments during the weekend" after the crash during training in eastern Italy.
The Italian, who spent a night in hospital last week, had said on Wednesday that "the pain in the abdomen and in the chest is still severe" but his condition was improving day by day.
"It will not be easy but I still have a few days to continue the treatment," he added. "If all is well, I will ride my YZR-M1 on Friday to really understand my condition. I will do my best to be on track Sunday."
Rossi is 23 points behind his Spanish team mate and overall leader Maverick Vinales in the championship.
