How to buy and sell fitness equipment amid COVID-19 – Los Angeles Times

Kyle Bennetts beat-up, 10-year-old Giant Faith mountain bike sat in his garage unused for months. The industrial designer from Santa Cruz paid $450 for it a year before and had thoroughly thrashed it. So he put it up for sale on Facebook Marketplace.

In one hour, his post got 60 replies.

Perhaps even more surprising? His asking price was $600.

The bike was gone in two hours, he says. A guy drove 100 miles and handed me cash, with no bargaining. But if Id been patient, I easily could have gotten $1,000 for it. People were bidding. In the pandemic, people post bikes for outrageous prices and are getting them.

Today, with gyms mostly closed due to the pandemic, people are desperate to stay fit. But they cant get new bikes and fitness equipment. Bike shops are sold out. Buying new dumbbells and weight benches is practically impossible.

The solution: Go online and buy and sell used stuff.

There are lots of websites, from bicycle-specific sites like BikeExchange.com, BicyleBluebook.com and PinkBike.com to general sites like Facebook Marketplace, OfferUp.com, CraigsList.org and LetGo.com.

Cleaning out your garage has never been this lucrative.

You know that old beach cruiser with flat tires hanging in the rafters that you couldnt dump for 50 bucks? Now hose it off, pump the tires, shine it up with Pledge and get $250 for it!

If youve got old dumbbells and weight plates lying around, you may be sitting on a gold mine. The going price of $1 a pound jumped to $3 a pound or more when the gyms closed, according to Anthony Duke, a PE teacher and football coach from Murrieta, who has become a weight equipment expert in the last three months while buying and selling on OfferUp.com.

Done right, that old $10, 10-pound dumbbell will now get you $35, he says. Old weights I bought online for $50 Ive sold for $500. Two 25-pound bumper plates which have the rubberized coating that you can drop on the floor got me $900. The trick is making it look as good as possible.

Duke picks up discarded weights anywhere he can other online sellers, the city dump, trash cans, the dank corner of garages at estate sales. He paid 20 cents a pound for weights dumped by the Yorba Linda Fire Department. Then the refurbishing begins. He soaks them in vinegar, scrubs with a steel brush and S.O.S. pad to remove rust, spray-paints them black and uses a fat sharpie to paint the raised letters and numbers white. Hell reupholster $150 weight benches and sell them for $500.

The same strategy works for bikes. Dukes next-door neighbor Stephen Nelson, who was a noncyclist in February, turned himself into an expert rider and mechanic during the pandemic buying, rehabbing and selling a dozen mountain bikes and beach cruisers on OfferUp.com and LetGo.com.

Used bikes are the new new bikes, says the fitness coach. Ill buy beach cruisers for $50, clean them, touch up the paint, put on matching grips, shine up the rims and sell them from $350 to $400. A legacy product like a GT Performer BMX bike with mag wheels from the 1980s can go for $1,500 or more.

Mountain bikes can be particularly lucrative. Nelson bought a Lapierre full-suspension for $900, tuned it up, replaced a broken brake lever and sold it for $1,750. A crummy Trek full-suspension from the early 90s went for $800. His biggest score was a thrashed Pivot 429, which retailed for $7,700 new. He paid $1,200, cleaned it with a high-pressure hose, spent $350 on new handlebars, grips, a rear wheel and a seat, touched up the black frame and derailleur with model paint, and sold it for $4,000 four days later.

Common sense dictates the best marketplace deals, say Duke and Nelson. If youre looking to buy or sell, here are some tips from the experts:

If youre selling

Spit and polish: Clean gear sells for higher prices.

Think Instagram: Well-staged pics with a clean background fetch more. Shots in a dark corner of your garage make it clear you just want to dump it, says Nelson.

Meet the buyer in a public place. I like to meet them at a Walgreens so they can access an ATM, says Duke. This also protects your privacy.

Accept Venmo, Zelle and cash. (But maybe dont walk away with too much cash, if you know what we mean). Beware checks and credit cards.

If youre buying

Try before you buy: If possible, see the product in person before you make an offer. Avoid committing to a price without seeing the item so you can negotiate honestly if you spot flaws.

Gauge seller motivation: Buyers can score great deals by scrutinizing and lowballing quality gear that has been poorly staged.

Consider how youll pay: Some sellers will accept only Venmo or Zelle. But if they insist on cash, perhaps consider meeting in a safe and very public place.

Schmooze: To stand out from other buyers, I compliment the seller, says Nelson. Ill write, Ive been looking for one of these for sooo long. Wow, I love that color and that hydraulic seat post you put on it. That way, they feel youll provide a good home for it and tend to go easy on the price.

Ruth Astle on Zwift, staying motivated and off-season fitness – 220 Triathlon

How have you managed to stay focussed this year?

On the whole it hasnt been hard to stay focussed this year, being my first pro year and knowing how much I have to improve in all three disciplines. Its also been nice, in some ways, to have a less intense year, and really be able to focus on recovery and do some more fun things, like gravel bike adventures.

Yet its been hard at points to remain focussed on training, when races kept getting cancelled and it wasnt clear if there would be any races, but overall the bigger goals Im aiming for, like qualifying for Kona as a pro, kept me going.

Have you struggled mentally at all?

There have definitely been some really hard days. Firstly, when Ironman South Africa was cancelled a couple of weeks before the race, Id just finished my big Ironman block and was about to start tapering, and was really up for a race to see where my form was at after a good winter block. That was quite hard to deal with mentally, especially as it then coincided with lockdown so the ability to socialise and train with friends was also taken away. To cope with the bad days I try and think about the positives, like being able to race a couple of British local races supported by the PTO, or the fact that I was able to keep swimming through lockdown, or just the fact Ive longer to make improvements before racing! But I think its important to also recognise that there will be tough days, and not to feel like you have to be positive all the time.

Has your training suffered?

My swimming was definitely impacted by not being able to swim with a group. I can push myself much harder swimming with a group, and I also found it harder to concentrate on my technique in the open water. Other than that, though, I think there were actually many benefits to doing a few different things, and not having so much intensity for a long period.

Has you managed to use this year to work on any weaknesses?

Ive been trying really hard to work on my swim, which has definitely been improving through increased volume and focus on technique.

Has there been any good points from 2020?

Theres been lots of good points this year getting into gravel biking and exploring some amazing parts of the UK. Also finding a new group of training partners around Yorkshire has been great, especially the group of Masters swimmers.

How have you found the journey from age grouper to pro?

Being able to reduce my corporate job to 14 hours a week has been the biggest positive, in terms of giving me time to get decent sleep every night, and having proper recovery time between sessions. Its also allowed me to increase my training a bit, and not cut out some of the gym sessions, like I often used to.

Yet its not been the ideal year to try and become a professional triathlete with all races in the middle six months being cancelled, and therefore no way of trying to get into the PTO ranking to benefit from the financial support they offer. Its also tough going from being the best [age-grouper] in the world to being very average [as a pro], and also realising how much more my swim needs to improve to compete at a professional level. Its also been a lot harder to secure sponsorship without having pro race results to show.

How much did the Zwift Academy help you last year?

Zwift Academy played a huge part in my successful Kona race last year, from having all the best equipment to use, to having the most incredible support during Kona week. I also really enjoyed being part of a team, and having other people to follow and support throughout the year and also in Kona. As Zwift has always played quite a large part in my training, particularly as an age grouper, it was nice to see more about how they develop the platform and behind the scenes.

The Academy is 100% worth applying for whether or not you think you have a reasonable shot of getting onto the team as having some sessions to focus on and people to do them with is really motivational.

[For those who dont know the Zwift Triathlon Academy began life in 2018 as an offshoot of the Zwift Academy program, which aimed to identify under-the-radar cycling talent using the virtual training environment of Zwift. And the end goal of the Zwift Triathlon Academy? To propel triathletes to success at the pinnacle of multisport: the Ironman World Championships in Kona, Hawaii.

To be in with a chance of selection each Zwifter has to complete six bike workouts, four run workouts, and one bike and one run race to be in contention. The performance data crunched before being paired with swim data and race results.

The successful applicants will join probably the best-supported age-group triathlon team in history, complete with the greatest gear, racing support and mentors.]

How are you approaching the off season this year?

Im not sure Ill have an off-season as such, as I have Ironman Florida in November and Challenge Daytona in December, so its going to be a busy couple of months. Ill probably do a bit of bike touring post-Daytona and a couple of weeks of doing non-structured training. Having had a few weeks of doing different things this year, I dont feel like I need a huge break.

What sort of shape are you in?

At the moment Im in peak fitness for the Ironman, and will feel pretty good going into the off-season.

What advice can you offer age groupers going into the off-season?

My main advice would be to be kind to yourself and use the time to do some of the things you wouldnt usually with a jam-packed race season, whether that be different types of training, or spending more time with friends (if possible!).

Fitness Facts: The story behind Movember – GCU Today

By Jo GottNurse Practitioner, Canyon Health and Wellness Clinic

No that is not a typo!

In November 2003, two men were drinking beer at a bar in Australia. They decided to start growing moustaches to raise money for one of their moms, who had breast cancer. (A mo in Australia is short for a moustache.)

From that humble beginning, Movember is now a worldwide event to raise awareness of mens health. There even is a Movember Foundation, which encourages donations for this cause.

Movember focuses its charitable contributions on four mens health issues: prostate cancer, testicular cancer, suicide prevention and physical inactivity.

Prostate cancer is one of the most common types of cancer in middle age and older men. It usually grows slowly and is initially confined to the prostate gland, where it may not cause serious harm.

However, while some types of prostate cancer grow slowly and may need minimal or even no treatment, other types are aggressive and can spread quickly. There is a blood test called the PSA (prostate specific antigen) that can screen for prostate cancer. If a man has a relative with prostate cancer, this screening should start at age 45. Otherwise, men may begin this screening at 55.

Testicular cancer is a rare type of cancer found in young men between the ages of 15 and 35. This cancer is very treatable. Every young man should be performing monthly self-testicular exams (similar to women performing self-breast exams). Signs and symptoms of testicular cancer may include:

The suicide rate for men is 3.5 times higher in men than women. White men in middle life are the group most likely to use lethal weapons to commit suicide.

However, a study in 2019, in The Journal of Mental Health found that stronger social connections can reduce the risk of suicide. That means more men talking about stuff that really matters.

Click here to find tools that can help men talk with men about mental health issues and suicide-prevention guidelines. In this day of COVID, many of these talks occur virtually.

Finally, the most recent focus on Movember is on mens inactivity. Research abounds that having an active lifestyle can prevent many diseases in both men and women. An active lifestyle can play a part in preventing obesity, heart disease, diabetes and certain cancers. Some Movember articles talk about the Movember Movement to encourage physical activity.

Rohit Sharmas injury: How is the fitness of BCCI-contracted cricketers monitored in IPL? – The Indian Express

Written by Shamik Chakrabarty, Edited by Explained Desk | Kolkata | Updated: November 5, 2020 9:05:59 pmRohit Sharma, captain of MI, and Quinton de Kock open against SRH on November 3. (Source: Sportzpics)

Confusion continues over Rohit Sharmas availability for Indias tour of Australia starting later this month. Sharma had sustained an injury while leading Mumbai Indians in the IPL and was not picked when the Indian team was announced. But he then played an IPL game. So how is the fitness of centrally-contracted players monitored during the IPL?

On October 26, when the national selectors announced the Indian squads for the Australia series, Rohit was the notable omission. The official release only said: The BCCI Medical Team will continue to monitor the progress of Rohit Sharma and Ishant Sharma.

According to BCCI president Sourav Ganguly, Rohit suffered a hamstring tear, PTI reported. Ganguly also cautioned Rohit against hastening his comeback.

The MI captain suffered the injury during their game against Kings XI Punjab on October 18. He missed the next four matches, with Kieron Pollard leading the side. In MIs final group league fixture against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Tuesday, Rohit returned to lead the team. He also played in the first qualifier against Delhi Capitals on Thursday.

Express Explained is now on Telegram

When asked at the toss on Tuesday: Is everything fit and fine with you?, he replied: Yeah, looks like that. Rohit underwent a fitness test before the game against SRH.

Because theres no official word yet from BCCI on the issue. Indias first match in Australia is on November 27. Three ODIs will be followed by three T20 Internationals and four Tests.

While the national selection committee didnt consider Rohit fit enough to be part of the squads, he is playing matches for his franchise. A top BCCI official told The Indian Express: If Rohit is fit, he walks into the team. There must be fitness concerns because of which the selectors didnt pick him.

Read | Is IPL more important to Rohit Sharma than playing for India? Vengsarkar calls for clarity

BCCI chief selectors are traditionally authorised to communicate to the media but chief selector Sunil Joshi is tight-lipped on the issue. MI, too, havent said a word other than posting Rohits practice pictures and clips.

Ganguly told PTI: Rohit himself knows that he has got a long career ahead and its not just this IPL or next series for him. I am sure he is mature enough to do what is best for him.

Ishant Sharma was ruled out of the IPL with an abdominal muscle tear. Fellow pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar was ruled out with a thigh muscle injury.

Their franchises, Delhi Capitals and SRH respectively, put out press releases confirming the injuries. Both Sharma and Kumar are now doing their rehab at the National Cricket Academy (NCA).

According to a franchise chief executive, it is monitored by the physios of the respective franchises. If theres an injury, it is reported to the Indian team/BCCI physio. From then on, the franchise physio monitors the players fitness in coordination with the BCCI physio.

No. The chief executive explained that the franchise physio sends reports to the BCCI physio, and the latter follows it up with his advice in terms of deciding the future course of action.

According to the chief executive, every IPL team conducts its own fitness tests during the pre-season camp. If a player has an alarming fitness history, he carries the record of his previous injuries. If need be, the franchise physio communicates with the BCCI physio.

A contracted player can personally get in touch with the BCCI physio, although it requires the approval of the team management and team physio because, during the IPL, players are owned by their respective franchises.

In 2011, then Kolkata Knight Riders captain Gautam Gambhir had aggravated a shoulder injury that he sustained during the World Cup final against Sri Lanka.

After Gambhir played the IPL Eliminator against MI, then KKR trainer Andrew Leipus had written to the BCCI, elaborating on the nature of the injury. Leipus had also advised Gambhir four to six weeks rest.

India were to tour West Indies after the IPL and, in M S Dhonis absence (he had opted out), Gambhir had been named captain for the limited-overs leg of the tour. But with the injury forcing him to miss the series, Suresh Raina led India in a one-off T20I and five ODIs.

I’ve Done This Hip Mobility Exercise For 5 Months, and It’s Decreased My Hip Tightness – POPSUGAR

A year ago I had surgery on my hip, and I've religiously been going to physical therapy ever since to regain my mobility and return to sport. I do a variety of mobility exercises, but the one that has arguably made the greatest impact on my recovery is the 90/90 exercise. It's improved my hip mobility and has helped me regain full function of my hip, which is important for overall health and for those who partake in physical activity.

You don't have to have had surgery to benefit from this exercise. Trainers and fitness professionals are beginning to focus on and implement mobility work into their programming, and this is arguably one of the most popular and accessible exercises for people to do. If you have tight hips and you're unable to perform squat and hinge movements with a full range of motion, this exercise is for you. Not to mention, it can help prevent injury, lower back pain, and knee pain.

It looks easy to do, but I'm warning you now that it is challenging. To reap the benefits of this exercise, you're going to have to perform it consistently (I'm talking at least three times a week), be patient, and make sure you're moving with intent.

The best smartwatches, fitness trackers and wearables to gift – Engadget

For someone whos never owned a smartwatch, the Watch SE will be an exciting introduction to the category. Plus, with Apples new Family Setup tool, your parents or children dont even have to own an iPhone to be able to use the Watch SE -- just use your own iPhone once to set it up for them. If you have more room in your budget, the Series 6 brings blood oxygen monitoring and ECG , which the health-obsessed will appreciate.

For Android fans, there is no better smartwatch than the Galaxy Watch 3. It uses Samsungs intuitive Tizen OS, and features a slimmed-down spinning bezel, which weve found is the best way to interact with a smartwatch. The Watch 3 offers a suite of health-tracking tools like ECG, fall detection, blood oxygen sensing and sleep-tracking that uses your heart rate to figure out what sleep zone youre in. Your giftee can also use it to send and reply to messages, log their food and water intake and track their workouts.

The Watch 3 is a little chunky, though, so if your relative might prefer something smaller, consider the Galaxy Watch Active 2 instead. It offers many of the same features in a thinner, lighter frame, and at a cheaper price too. But note that the convenient rotating bezel has been replaced by a touch-sensitive bezel here, so if easy navigation is a priority, stick with the Watch 3.

The most useful thing about wearables is their ability to keep tabs on your overall well-being, and the watch with the most robust set of health-tracking tools is the Fitbit Sense. In addition to features like sleep and blood oxygen monitoring, the Sense also senses your skin temperature and electro-dermal activity. It uses this data to understand your bodys response to stress and help detect when you might have a fever.

While Fitbits OS isnt as full-featured as Apple or even Samsung, it has the upper hand when it comes to health-monitoring. If your loved one is less of a techie and more into analyzing their metrics, this wearable will serve up all the physiological data they could want. Just make sure to remind them the device isnt meant for medical purposes and they should still see their doctor when something seems amiss.

For those who prefer a more traditional aesthetic, a hybrid smartwatch is an excellent option. There are plenty of brands to choose from like Withings, Timex or Fossil, but we recommend the Garmin Vivomove HR for its comprehensive feature set and attractive design. It offers constant heart rate monitoring, stress and sleep tracking, music controls and a subtle touchscreen display on top of a traditional watch face. This panel will show your giftees steps, calories, heart rate and VO2Max, as well as message alerts and more.

Because it does so much, the Vivomove HR will last just five days in smart mode, but itll hang around for an extra two weeks with its hands just telling the time. This is one of the best-looking hybrid watches around with plenty of customization options, too, so itll be easy to find a style the fashionable techie on your list will like.

Buy Vivomove HR at Amazon - $165 Buy Vivomove HR at Walmart - $120

Fossil

Fashion houses are some of the biggest smartwatch makers, often infusing classic timepieces with Googles limited Wear OS to offer connected versions of customer favorites. If youre shopping for someone who loves labels like Michael Kors, Skagen and Kate Spade loyalist, youll easily find a smartwatch from each brand. Of all the smartwatches parent company Fossil offers in its portfolio of designers, though, the Fossil Gen 5 series offers the best set of features. It combines Googles software with some Fossil-specific tweaks for improved battery life and some extra activity and health-tracking tools.

Fossils watches also tend to be a lot prettier than the competition. Youll be able to pick from two main Gen 5 styles for your loved one and a handful of case finishes and strap options for each. For more style and size options, consider the Gen 5e series, which offer the same features in more colors and cases. While Wear OS isnt the best smartwatch system around, its a good introduction to wearable tech, especially for someone who doesnt need their watch to do much more than tell them what alert they just got on their phone.

Buy Fossil Gen 5 smartwatches starting at $179

Will Lipman Photography

When most people hear the words fitness tracker, they probably imagine a Fitbit band. Its no surprise, since the company pioneered the category and makes some of the best devices available. The Inspire 2 is this years update to the companys popular line of low-profile health-monitoring bands, and it brings a brighter display plus longer 10-day battery life. Plus, it offers a constant heart rate monitor, which allows it to understand what sleep zones your giftee is in when they wear the device to bed.

Theyll also be able to wear this in the pool to track laps and use the Fitbit app to keep an eye on their menstrual cycles. The Inspire 2 doesnt have built-in GPS, so your friend will need to bring their phone with them to map their runs. But for the price, the Inspire 2 is a solid option for someone who prefers the subtle look of a bangle or wristband.

Buy Inspire 2 at Amazon - $100 Buy Inspire 2 at Walmart - $100

Samsonite

None of us have been traveling a lot lately, but a backpack is still a sound investment, especially for students, hikers and cyclists on your list. Samsonites Konnect-i bag has touch-sensitive fibers woven into the left strap to offer Googles Jacquard technology so your loved one can control their music or get alerts without having to whip out their phone. You can customize what the gestures do -- a swipe up could skip a song or pin a location, for example.

The backpack itself offers plenty of pockets and compartments and is sturdy enough to stuff into a locker or under an airplane seat (whenever we get to ride them again) -- without having to worry about breaking your precious cargo. Plus, itll hold laptops as large as 15.6 inches and can keep your belongings dry with the help of water-repellent fabric. And you wont have to worry about whether your giftee uses iOS or Android -- the Konnect-i plays nice with both. All told, the variety of available functions here makes the smart backpack a bit more useful than earbuds.

Buy Konnect-i smart backpack at Samsonite - $200

Snap

We all know that person whos always taking videos for Instagram Stories, TikTok or Snapchat. The Snap Spectacles 3 is perfect for the influencer-wannabe on your list, since it makes taking hands-free first-person videos incredibly easy. With one tap on the frames, theyll be able to record a 10-second video clip or snap quick pictures by holding down. While theyll need to use the Snapchat app for setup and downloading their footage, your friend can share their clips to any social media outlet they prefer.

The Spectacles quirky aesthetic might not appeal to everyone, but it certainly makes for eye-catching selfies. And you dont have to worry about your gift being used to record you without your knowledge, either. The glasses have an LED ring above the lenses that light up when its recording so youll be aware if youre being filmed.

HEALTH AND FITNESS: The Halloween candy problem | Features – Charleston Post Courier

This weekend marked the end of several weeks of Halloween preparation, events, and celebrations. But even after the lights in the jack-o-lanterns have been extinguished and the costumes have been packed away, the Halloween horrors continue. Its not ghosts or witches or black cats you need to worry about, though. Its the leftover candy.

If your home is like mine, you have probably been accumulating candy for several days now. Despite our best intentions, most of it will get eaten, probably in the few days after Halloween. There are several ways in which a Halloween candy binge could be bad for our health.

First, it can add up to a lot of calories, which could contribute to weight gain. As a rough estimate, a typical fun size candy bar has about 75100 calories. Look in your kids candy bags or the bowl of leftover candy at your front door and think about how many calories that adds up to.

Second, eating lots of candy could replace healthier foods. Candy is considered empty calories, meaning that there is little nutritional value beyond caloriesno vitamins, minerals, or fiber. And if you eat less at meals because of the extra candy you are consuming you may not be getting enough essential nutrients. However, since the candy binge will probably only last a few days, this shouldnt cause long-term health problems.

Third, the high sugar intake can contribute to cavities. Bacteria in the mouth produce acid when they come in contact with sugar, and this acid erodes tooth enamel to cause cavities. Sticky candy like gummies or hard candies that are in the mouth a long time are of particular concern. Obviously, brushing after eating can reduce the risk of cavities and chewing sugarless gum may help, too.

Many parents try to reduce some of these potential health concerns by limiting how much candy their children can eat at a time. This makes sense since spreading out the candy consumption a few pieces each day means less sugar intake at any one time.

Others solve this problem by letting their kids eat as much candy as they want on Halloween, then taking the rest away or letting their kids keep just a few pieces. Many times kids dont even miss the candy when it is gone. This is probably a smart approach, but it does require some creativity to get the candy away. Replacing the candy with books, toys, or other gifts might help.

For many people, the real problems begin after Halloween when the leftover candy ends up in a bowl at home or in a dish on a desk at work. While there are some people who can resist reaching into the bowl, most of us cant. Its just too tempting to grab a piece of candy as we walk by, and we likely do it more often than we think. In fact, sometimes the candy dish is set out for the purpose of getting rid of the candy.

As the end of the Halloween candy season nears we will probably find ourselves eating more candy than we should. The good news is that as long as we get back to a routine of healthy eating and regular exercise, a Halloween candy binge shouldnt do any lasting harm our health.

Trumbull Family Fitness partners with management group – Mahoning Matters

Revenues are down because of the coronavirus pandemic.

WARREN Faced with uncertainty due to the coronavirus pandemic, Trumbull Family Fitness will partner with a Ravenna-based nonprofit management group to ensure sustainability.

Family & Community ServicesInc., headed by Executive Director Mark Frisone, is one of the largest nonprofit agencies in Northeast Ohio, providing more than 71 programs in 21 counties throughout Ohio and Michigan.

Their expertise will be pivotal in assuring the sustainability of TFF during this difficult time, when many non-profits are facing financial difficulties and possible closure, said Trumbull Family Fitness Board Chairman Richard Thompson in a news release.

In compliance withGov. Mike DeWines mandate, all necessary precautions have been implemented since July for employees and members, unless medical conditions prohibit.

However, there has still been a hesitancy for member re-engagement. Many of the local fitness organizations members have not felt comfortable returning, resulting in a significant reduction in revenue.

As the YMCA, and now as Trumbull Family Fitness, our organization has served the community for over 90 years, providing programs and activities to benefit the health and well-being of Trumbull Countys citizens, Thompson said. We have played an important role in the social, physical and moral development of our community, and we intend to continue to do so.

"We believe this partnership is an avenue to prevent our program from suffering permanent financial damage and potential closure," Thompson said."We anticipate it will also strengthen our organizations ability to achieve our mission."

The new partnership with Family & Community Services Inc. will focus on membership retention and recruitment, as well as program development.

"TFF can best be described as a multigenerational facility, as we offer something for every age group from Youth to Silver Sneakers fitness programs," Thompson said.

Various membership packages are available which include access to a comprehensive wellness center, swimming and therapy pools, an indoor track, spinning, and a wide variety of fitness programming and classes.
