Intermittent fasting not only removes or maintains your weight; It also helps eliminate cellular debris in your body, as well as promoting healthy aging, and thus increasing its useful life. Full-day fasting, alternate-day fasting, and restricted-time fasting are among the most popular types of intermittent fasting. Of the latter forms, the 16: 8 format is the most famous. No matter what those models with flat tummy ads claim, we all know losing weight (and keeping it off) is not exactly an easy task. The worst part of being overweight is not only do you feel exhausted all the time, but your self-confidence levels also take a beating. To top it all, being the centre of all the fat jokes and comments is something nobody should ever go through. When 29-year-old Prit Sundaram Kandar realised that his obesity had taken a toll on his workplace performance, he started his weight loss journey. From that day, there has been no looking back for this dedicated guy. Here is his journey.Name: Prit Sundaram KandarOccupation: Account Receivables Specialist.Age: 29 years
Height: 5 feet 4 inches
Highest weight recorded: 128 kgs
Weight lost: 50 kgs
Duration it took me to lose weight: 5 months
The turning point: While being overweight had definitely impacted my self-esteem and overall mental being, I realised that it was also hampering my work life. Even though I had grown accustomed to taunts and jokes being made at my expense, I could not take it when my productivity and quality of work started going down the hill because of my weight. I knew I had to do something before things completely went out of my control. Hence, I embarked on my weight loss journey and the result is here for all to see.
My breakfast: 6 soaked almonds, 2 egg whites and 1 tablespoon peanut butter.
My lunch: 2 cups boiled vegetables, 1 bowl of dal, 300 grams fish or chicken stew and a portion of fresh salad.
My dinner: 1 cup boiled vegetables, 150-gram fish or chicken stew and 1 bowl cottage cheese.Pre-workout meal: 1 cup of lukewarm lemon water mixed with cinnamon powder. Alternatively, I also take a cup of black coffee.
Post-workout meal: 1 cup of green tea.
I indulge in: I absolutely love Hakka noodles.
My workout: For the first two months I just focussed on doing cardio and core exercises. After I lost a significant amount of weight, I started weight and resistance training. I used to make it a point to go for a walk daily.
Low-calorie recipes I swear by: Fish or chicken stew.
Fitness secrets I unveiled: On my journey to weight loss, I have realised that cardio gives you the best results when it comes to shedding those stubborn kilos. You need to minimize the amount of oil you are using in your food. You can certainly use a variety of spices to prevent the meals from getting boring. I also realised the importance of cheat days and how they help in boosting your metabolism. How do I stay motivated? My personal coach Sovan Sarkar and nutritionist Shiny Surendran kept me motivated during this journey. I also used to search for weight loss videos of fitness influencers and see them regularly.
How do you ensure you dont lose focus? There is no denying that everyone loses their focus every once in a while but the trick is to make a stronger comeback. When you begin seeing results, you get more motivated to stay focussed.Whats the most difficult part of being overweight? When you are overweight, you are not only the butt of all the jokes and taunts, but people also stare at you rudely. My growing weight had also taken a toll on my health as I felt lazy and lethargic all the time
What shape do you see yourself 10 years down the line? I want to attain a ripped body and immense stamina in the coming years.

The Vertical Diet: a nutritionist explains all you need to know – cosmopolitan.com
Claudia TotirGetty Images
If you're into the gym in a big way, specifically bodybuilding, you may already be familiar with a new eating plan that's gaining traction, known as 'The Vertical Diet'. We asked registered nutritionist and dietician, Susie Bond, from Health First, to explain whether or not the diet is safe, who typically does it and what foods are included.
The Vertical Diet was designed as a muscle-building, performance-based diet for bodybuilders. However, it's recently been marketed as a weight-loss diet for casual gym-goers. "For background, the diet was developed by pro powerlifter/body builder Stan Efferding to help build muscle and fuel athletic performance," says Susie. "To do this, the diet consists of nutrient-dense foods that meet the body's need for vitamins and minerals and easily digested carbohydrates for energy."
The Vertical Diet is named as such because it's pictured graphically as an upside-down T. "Imagine that the base of the T is represented by foods rich in vitamins and minerals, and the vertical portion of the T is made up of red meat and white rice," notes Susie. Essentially, the basis of the diet is that it allows people to consume larger amounts of food without getting full, resulting in higher calorie consumption and more energy. It's also very heavily focussed on meat, so isn't suitable for vegetarians or vegans.
"To follow the diet as written, a person would consume small amounts of a limited selection of foods daily, with the primary source of calories coming from red meat and white rice," explains Susie.
Foods you can eat on the Vertical Diet:
Foods to avoid on the Vertical Diet:
Fans of the eating plan say one major benefit is that it allows athletes to consume high amounts of calories and nutrients to increase energy, muscle growth and strength, without causing digestion issues. "However, the diet is extremely restrictive and doesn't allow room for all the necessary nutrients your body needs," adds Susie. "Many of which are essential for digestive health."
The cons include:
"The Vertical Diet is more of a short-term, performance-focused diet, not necessarily a lifestyle change," says Susie. "It's important to note that the main reason people follow it is to support muscle growth and digestion in bodybuilders." Bodybuilders, weightlifters, and athletes see the diet as a way to increase calorie consumption, but maintain gut health, on a temporary basis.
"Generally speaking, the Vertical Diet is highly restrictive and doesn't allow for enough of the nutrients your body needs to stay healthy," says Susie. "The diet places a focus on red meat as the primary source of your protein, but high red meat consumption is linked to heart disease, some cancers, kidney problems and digestive issues." Overall, a more balanced and nutrient-rich diet is a healthier option for the average gym-goer.
"Depending on the individual's nutritional needs, the Vertical Diet can be helpful for bodybuilders, competitive weightlifters and athletes that need to support muscle growth," notes Susie. "It could be useful to people looking to lose weight but there are healthier diets that can help someone lose weight that don't cut out so many beneficial nutrients."

The Carnivore Helped This Fitness Coach Lose Weight, but Gave Him Diarrhea for Weeks – Pulse Nigeria
As the name implies, the carnivore diet consists of meat and animal products, and Syatt ate plenty of fish, beef, and eggs. He weighed in at 154.8 pounds on the first day. After five days the scale dropped to 151 pounds.
Within 24 hours, he was struck with diarrhea, Syatt tells Men's Health. "It burned. It was awful," he says. "You try to hold it and don't want to go through the painful process of cleanup."
The severity of his diarrhea became better after 10 days, he says.
When it came working out, Syatt says he had little motivation to hit the gym.
"My workouts were awful. I didn't have much energy at all," he says.
Additionally, Syatt's blood pressure increased within a few days of starting the diet. However, it returned to normal after about a week.
Admittedly, Syatt isn't a fan of the all-meat planor any other restrictive diet. But he does say that eating meat stopped him from mindless snacking.
"I did not go to the fridge and open it up and say, 'What can I have?,'" Syatt says. "If I'm not hungry enough to eat meat, then I'm just not hungry."
After 14 days, Syatt broke his diet with watermelon.
"Damn, carbs are life," he says

Her cholesterol levels were down, there was no constipation or nausea, and happily enough, she was steadily losing the weight that she had gained during pregnancy.
I would average around 75 kg before my pregnancy. When I gave up dairy, my weight gradually dropped to 60 kg, and that is my normal now. But thats not it.
