What is the Sirtfood diet? Adele’s rumored diet, explained – Today.com
After Adele revealed a transformation on Instagram, fans began buzzing about the singer's weight loss.
For years, it's been rumored that the star follows a meal plan based on the book "The Sirtfood Diet." The regimen includes multiple phases and focuses on "cellular wellness at a genetic level," according to Aidan Goggins, one of the creators of the diet. The Duchess of Cambridge's sister Pippa Middleton and boxer Connor McGregor have also been said to use the diet.
According to Goggins, the Sirtfood diet was created as "the antidote to conventional dieting." He and his partner, Glen Matten, were both "diet skeptics" because of their history as nutritional medical scientists. Instead of focusing on weight loss, the Sirtfood diet is based on activating sirtuin genes. Sirtuins are proteins that are members of a family of enzymes. They activate and are typically utilized in response to stress and metabolism, explained Kristin Kirkpatrick, a registered dietitian.
"The weight loss is not the primary goal, but as a consequence of rejuvenating our cellular wellness at a genetic level, which essentially resets our metabolism," said Goggins. "Secondly, in contrast to other popularized diets where the focus is on cutting out foods, with Sirtfoods we can only reap the benefits through eating, and this means indulging in your favorite foods, not restriction."
Kirkpatrick, who works with the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio, said that she's had patients come to her asking about the Sirtfood diet multiple times, and while there is some science to support the effects of the diet, she said many of the studies and research are very new.
"I think the diet is harmless, but we don't have data showing that it's got long-term sustainability," she said. "The whole theory behind the diet is that certain foods are going to activate these sirtuins, which are related to proteins in the body."
Kirkpatrick noted that the Sirtfood diet operates similarly to intermittent fasting diets, which have also been shown to help with weight loss.
Goggins said that when he and Matten worked in a high-end private health club in London, they became "increasingly concerned" about "increasingly extreme diet trends" and the foods that people "villainized."
"You'd be afraid to eat," he said. "And it all became about reducing calorie intake."

When creating the diet, they wanted to make sure that people felt free to eat some of their favorite foods while still getting important nutrients.
"It is important that we not only get plenty of these foods in our diet but also ensure our meals contain a diverse array of them as it is the synergy of their combination in meals and juices where the real benefits come from," Googins said.
The real goal of the Sirtfood diet is to pack one's meals with as many "sirtuin-activating nutrients" as possible. In lab settings, sirtuin genes have been activated, but Kirkpatrick noted that despite a pilot study by Goggins and Matten that analyzed 40 people on the diet, there haven't been any other studies in humans.
"Sirtfoods are all readily available and accessible plant foods," Goggins said. "Some of the top Sirtfoods include leafy greens like arugula, kale and parsley, strawberries, walnuts, extra virgin olive oil, dark chocolate, curry spices, green tea, red wine and coffee."
On the website for the diet, Goggins and Matten recommend trying to "Sirtify" meals where possible and adding Sirtfoods to favorite meals or substituting regular ingredients with a Sirtfood alternative.
Kirkpatrick praised the food choices the diet recommends, but said that there's nothing showing that the foods in the diet will trigger the genes as advertised.
"We don't know if these very specific foods, if you eat just these foods and nothing else, that these things will be triggered," said Kirkpatrick.
The diet has two phases. For the first three days on the diet, one should consume "three Sirtfood green juices and one full meal rich in Sirtfoods" daily, for a total of just 1,000 calories per day.
On days four through seven, people should increase their intake to 1,500 calories a day by consuming "two green juices and two meals." According to Goggins, people lose 7 pounds in seven days during this phase, though Kirkpatrick noted that anyone eating just 1,000 calories per day would see weight-loss effects no matter what they were consuming.
The second phase lasts for two weeks and is called a "maintenance period." Intended to help people lose weight steadily, dieters can eat "three balanced Sirtfood-rich meals every day, plus one green juice." The two phases can be repeated "whenever you'd like for a fat-loss boost."
Kirkpatrick said that the phases of the diet made her unsure of its sustainability.
"The actual foods are good," said Kirkpatrick. "The first phase is very much dependent on green juices and 'No more than 1,000 calories' ... Anything with 1,000 calories and pretty severe caloric restriction is going to lead to weight loss, but the body will bounce back. The body's searching for alternative fuels. Once you get into those later phases and you start relaxing the motivation you had in weeks one and two, you're more likely to gain weight."
However, Goggins said that once the phases have ended, the diet focuses more on what you're eating instead of how much.
"While the initial one-week phase has a calorie restriction, there is no counting for the maintenance," he said. "We now eat as we always were intended, and did throughout history."
Kirkpatrick advised combining the positive parts of the diet, like its focus on green foods, and mix it with other things known to be tied to weight loss, like stress management, sleep and exercise, and things like eating in moderation and trying to adhere to a healthier eating plan overall.

Adele: Three Secrets Behind Her Incredible Weight-Loss – Longevity LIVE
Adele is a global superstar, with her amazing voice earning her an Oscar, 15 Grammys as well as multiple world records. Its clear that shes a successful woman, and we all know it. However, the soulful singer has been making headlines lately, not because of her unmatchable talent, but because of her visible weight loss.
Her weight loss was first noticed last year at musicians Drakes birthday bash on October 25 but its her most recent social media post that has got fans talking. Making her first Instagram post of 2020 where she thanked essential workers during the coronavirus pandemic as well as gave thanks for her birthday well wishes, fans were surprised at her weight loss. In the past, Adele once revealed to People Magazine that shed refuse to work with anybody who had an issue with her weight, stating: Even when I was signing a contract, most of the industry knew if anyone ever dared say: Lose weight to me, they wouldnt be working with me.
Adele has yet to publicly discuss her weight loss, and she really has no reason to. The fact of the matter is, Adele is a beautiful and talented woman, regardless of how she looks and what she weighs. Her weight loss pales in comparison to the other incredible things that shes achieved in her young life, and it really shouldnt be framed as the most incredible thing shes done in recent memory. That said, for those on a weight loss journey, they are curious as to how the star did it.
In addition to her incredible figure, fans also noticed that the singers face also looked a little different.
As a result of her weight loss, Adele has lost volume and fat in her face. As a result, her features have become more prominent with her jaw and bone structure appearing sharper and more chiseled. Additionally, its clear that she changed up her diet as she appears to have a much healthier glow. The fact is, your skin is what you eat and when you consume a nutrient-dense diet rich anti-oxidants, your skin will definitely thank you for it.
The seventh most Googled diet in 2019, its clear thats theres some buzz surrounding The Sirtfood diet, and with Adeles weight loss, the buzz is certain to grow.
The Sirtfood diet was created in the United Kingdom by nutritionists Aidan Goggins and Glen Matten, after they published a guide and a recipe book in 2016. The diet focuses on sirtuins, a group of seven proteins found in your body that help to regulate a variety of functions, which include preventing cell death, regulating metabolism, inflammation, as well as the aging process. The diet requires one to consume foods rich in sirtuins, known as sirtfoods, in an effort to activate the sirtuins that will boost fat burn and speed up metabolism.
As mentioned, the Sirtfood Diet encourages the consumption of foods that contain Sirtuins. These Sirtfoods are nutrient-dense and healthy to eat regularly. They include:

The diet is broken down into two phases, and if you should do it whenever you feel that you need a bit of a weight-loss boost.
This phase lasts for seven days and its also split up. For the first three days, youre limited to a total of 1000 calories a day. Your diet consists of three Sirtfood green juices (containing kale, arugula, parsley, celery, green apple, lemon juice, and green tea) and one Sirtfood-rich meal. A mean can include miso-glazed tofu, the Sirtfood omelet, or a shrimp stir-fry with buckwheat noodles.
On days four through seven, youll then allowed two green juices and two daily meals for a total of 1,500 calories a day.
Phase one is aimed at jump-starting your weight loss (apparently, youre expected to lose 7 pounds during phase one). The diet does recommend that you stop exercising, or at least cut back on your usual fitness routine during this period as you wont be taking in many calories.
The second phase lasts for two weeks and it is known as the maintenance phase. Its purpose is to encourage weight loss in a steady, sustainable, and manageable way.
There is no calorie limit but you are encouraged to eat three balanced meals that are rich in Sirtfoods, as well as drink one green juice, during this phase. The meal recipes include soy yogurt with berries and stir-fried prawns with kale and buckwheat noodles.
Once youre done with the phases, you can continue with the Sirtfood diet, all you have to do is tweak your meals a bit, and include as many Sirtfoods as possible. Additionally, once youve adopted the Sirtfood lifestyle, youre encouraged to stay active.
Considering the fact that youre consuming way fewer calories than usual, yes, youll probably lose weight adopting this diet. However, whether this particular method is healthy is debatable. This is because super-restrictive eating is rarely healthy or sustainable.
If you consider the fact that 1,000 calories per day is only appropriate for a child between the ages of 2 and 4, I wouldnt exactly call this diet plan healthy. Yes, the diet may enable weight-loss, but living on this kind of calorie restriction for too long would be questionable.
Yes, theres no denying that the foods in the Sirtfood diet are good for you. Plenty of research has shown that green tea, turmeric and even dark chocolate can provide the body with a number of health benefits that include reduced risks of heart disease, diabetes and other inflammation-related diseases. However, actual research into the long-term benefits of increased sirtuin levels in humans is still in its early stages. Additionally, calorie restriction is not how you want to be living your life.
Yes, Adele looks amazing but if she is following the Sirtfood diet, shes more than likely tweaked it in a manner that is sustainable and safer for her health. That said, its advisable that you reach out to a certified dietitian and get their thoughts. Our bodies are each different, and adopting this particular diet does not mean that youll get Adele-results.
According to the Daily Mail, the singer has taken up Reformer Pilates after being introduced to it by close friend Ayda Field, X Factor judge and wife of singer Robbie Williams.
We already know that Pilates is a great exercise for the body, and the same can be said for Reformer Pilates. Reformer Pilates is a more technical version of regular Pilates, requiring practitioners to do Pilates moves on special machines, using ropes, springs, and a carriage. The exercises provide a high intensity yet low-impact full-body workout. Reformer Pilates helps to improve posture, strength, and flexibility as well as build a stronger core and tone your muscles.
Adele has never shied away from being herself and being confident in her skin. While the star is known for her heart-wrenching ballads, its clear that self-love is a huge priority of hers. Last year, Adele celebrated her 31st birthday, and she shared an Instagram post that hinted at prioritizing self-love.
For the first time in a decade, Im ready to feel the world around me and look up for once. Be kind to yourself, people, were only human, go slow, put your phone down and laugh out loud at every opportunity, she shared. Learning to REALLY truly love yourself is it, and Ive only just realized that that is more than enough.
It may hard to do, especially during these times, but self-love can do wonders for your health. Aside from making you happier, research published in the Health Psychology journal found that self-love can help you make better decisions about your health.
Whats more, a separate study published in the Psychological Science journal found that recently divorced individuals who were kinder to themselves were better at bouncing back in the months following the separation than those who regularly self-criticized. Considering the fact that the award-winning singer is currently going through a divorce, its safe to say that shes definitely practicing a lot of self-love.

Pesticides, Nonstick Pans and Celiac Disease: How They Are Linked – Healthline
New York University (NYU) Langone researchers find that elevated levels of toxic chemicals from pesticides, nonstick cookware, and fire retardants are associated with an increased risk of developing celiac disease.
Celiac disease is an autoimmune disease where the ingestion of gluten leads to damage in the small intestines, Dr. Patrick Fratellone, RH FIM, an integrative physician and adjunct professor at the University of Bridgeport College of Naturopathic Medicine, told Healthline.
For this study published May 11 in the journal Environmental Research, researchers examined levels of toxic chemicals in the blood of 30 children and young adults, from 3 to 21 years old, and recently diagnosed with celiac disease at NYU Langone Hassenfeld Childrens Hospital.
Chemical levels were compared to those of 60 other participants of similar age, gender, and race without celiac disease.
The NYU team discovered that children and young adults who have high levels of pesticides and other chemicals called dichlorodiphenyldichloroethylenes (DDEs) had double the chance of being diagnosed with celiac disease than those who didnt.
The study also found that gender plays a role in how chemicals influence celiac risk.
For females, higher-than-normal pesticide exposure meant they were at least eight times more likely to become gluten intolerant.
But elevated levels of nonstick chemicals (perfluoroalkyls, or PFAs), including products like Teflon, were up to nine times more likely to have celiac disease.
On the other hand, young males with elevated blood levels of fire-retardant chemicals called polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs) were only twice as likely to be diagnosed with the condition.
The endocrine system, also called the hormone system, is made up of glands located throughout the body.
Theres emerging science that certain chemicals disrupt immune function, and not just hormonal function, said study co-investigator and health epidemiologist Dr. Leonardo Trasande, MPP, professor of pediatrics at NYU Langone.
He added theres already some suggestive evidence that endocrine-disrupting chemicals contribute to celiac disease and are associated with other diseases, like Crohns disease.
Trasande emphasized theres a lot of cross-talk between the endocrine system and the immune system, in the context of celiac disease and other autoimmune conditions.
According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), persistent organic pollutants (POPs) include thousands of synthetic chemicals widely used during the industrial production boom after the Second World War.
Although many POPs have been phased out of use, these chemicals remain in the environment, as they are resistant to degradation and tend to accumulate in animal and human tissue, the study authors wrote.
Some well-known POPs include polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), the pesticide DDT, and dioxins which come from chlorine bleaching of paper pulp, the manufacturing of some herbicides and pesticides, and other industrial processes.
DDE is a metabolite of the long-standing pesticide DDT, which of course has been banned, except for some use in malaria prevention in parts of Africa, said Trasande. But theres legacy contamination, such that we werent surprised to detect many of the metabolites [in study participants].
He emphasized that there are steps we can take to reduce our exposure to these chemicals.
People can do things like simply clearing the air by opening windows every day, and using a wet mop to sop up persistent pollutants that can accumulate in dust.
Trasande asserted that this study adds to others raising concerns about nonstick chemicals.
One simple way to cut down on exposure to these chemicals is to switch out Teflon pans for cast-iron pans, which if properly seasoned can result in a nonstick like surface without these chemicals.
This isnt the first study to find a link between commonly used chemicals and celiac disease.
A 2013 study published in the journal Interdisciplinary Toxicology concluded that glyphosate, the active ingredient in herbicides like Roundup, is the most important causal factor in celiac disease.
But Trasandes study is the first to measure an association between chemical exposure and the condition.
Our study establishes the first measurable tie-in between environmental exposure to toxic chemicals and celiac disease, said senior study investigator and pediatric gastroenterologist Dr. Jeremiah Levine in a statement. These results also raise the question of whether there are potential links between these chemicals and other autoimmune bowel diseases, which all warrant close monitoring and further study.
The National Institutes of Health (NIH) list symptoms of celiac disease that include:
However, some people with the disease may not have symptoms at all. According to the NIH, celiac disease can also prevent children from absorbing nutrients, which may lead to issues like slowed growth, weight loss, damaged tooth enamel, and delayed puberty.
It affects 1 in 100 individuals, said Fratellone. These individuals are genetically predisposed, and it is estimated that there are over 2 million Americans who are undiagnosed and at risk for long-term complications,
Fratellone explained that gluten is an umbrella name for proteins known as prolamins, which are primarily made up of glutenin and gliadin. This substance is found in grains that include wheat, rye, and barley.
The best way to treat a celiac patient is to educate him or her on avoiding wheat gluten. There are also blood tests to determine if you have a gluten allergy or have celiac disease, he said.
The Mayo Clinic cautions that before starting a gluten-free diet, you should be tested for celiac disease first because eliminating gluten could make the tests appear normal.
There are two blood tests available to diagnose it: serology testing, which looks for certain antibodies in your blood, and genetic testing. Some gastroenterologists believe you must have a biopsy. I do recommend food allergy testing, said Fratellone.
If youre gluten intolerant, the Mayo Clinic advises you to avoid all foods and drinks containing wheat, rye, barley, triticale (a cross between wheat and rye), and in some cases, oats, if there is a chance they were contaminated during production with gluten-containing grains.
For the first time, a study has measured the association between exposure to toxic chemicals, like pesticides and industrial chemicals, and celiac disease risk.
Researchers say that the findings raise the question of whether there are potential links between these chemicals and other autoimmune bowel diseases.
Celiac disease can lead to serious health issues in children, but experts say its important to get tested before starting a gluten-free diet.

Another amazing workout with the awesome @theetiffmarie this morning! See you all tomorrow at 9am THE time! I changed my lifestyle in January of last year. I started gardening. Growing my own vegetables made me more aware of how I was treating my body and I also needed to prepare for a new action movie, so I started working out 5 days a week. The incredible changes I started seeing in myself became so obvious to me a few weeks into my new program. And not just to me, but to people around me! First my family commented on how much more pleasant I was in the morning. Then people would compliment my skin, saying I was glowing. I hadnt had those remarks since I was pregnant, so I knew that what I was doing was working. Most importantly, as someone who is battled depression for most of my life, I noticed how much energy I had and how great my moods were. I stopped getting overwhelmed as easily. I felt like I could tackle anything the day had in store and I looked forward to new challenges. After a year of these positive benefits, I wanted to share my experience with you all, because I truly believe that to live life to your fullest, you need to be active. Even the side effects are short are intense: symptoms that can last from days to weeks can include hunger, fatigue, moodiness, irritability, constipation, headaches, and adormilamiento. For Jovovich, a diet based primarily on vegetables it is the trick.
I changed my lifestyle over a year ago to prepare for the new action film Im shooting (which will come out in 2020). To be honest with you, I assure you of that 80% of my diet during the week is vegetable-based and that all others are smaller portions, it helps my skin, my energy levels and my health in general, he says.
It can be very difficult to sustain in the long term. To follow it you should be an expert in nutrition
The star also has time to train, all the days and thereby increase their levels of strength and endurance. Mentally, I feel much better. I used to agobiarme too much and I was depressed. Now I feel much more agile, he concludes. If youre considering making a diet that is keto, speak with your doctor first to make sure that is best for your health and well-being.

Eat Like a Bird and Weight Loss Will Be a Dead Sirt – American Council on Science and Health
Adeles significant slim down has been credited to a combination of exercise and eating sirtfoods. So what is the sirt diet and could it work for you?
COVID-19 may still be daily overwhelming the internet, but for a few hours last week all the talk on social mediturned to just how singer Adele could havelost so much weight.
And the answer? Apparently (allegedly) shes been following the sirtfood diet, detailed in a book of the same name written by Aidan Goggins and Glen Matten.
The sirt in sirtfood stands for sirtuins a group of genes and the proteins they encode that play a key role in cellular homeostasis. Sirtuins have been implicated in the stress response, DNA repair and energy metabolism, but the area where they've whipped up more scientific interest (and hype) than any other isin relation to extending lifespan.
The finding that sirtuins were linked to longevity in yeast led to an explosion of research that has yielded ambiguous results. There have been some signs of life extension and improved long-term health, including an anti-diabetic potential in laboratory animals, but nothing thats been reliably shown to extend life in mammals.
The central tenet of the sirtfood diet is that eating certain polyphenol-rich foods red wine and dark chocolate are frequently citedas examples to make the diet seem sexier can stimulate sirtuins (coined your skinny genes by the authors) and create weight loss.
Activating sirtuins through diet is an intriguing theory, but theres little evidence to support it, and even less evidence that doing so would lead to significant weight loss in practice.
The diet promises a weight loss of 7 pounds in 7 days and that longer-term you will improve your resistance to disease while gaining incredible energy and glowing health.
If you dont gnaw off your arm in hunger before you get slim that is.
Phase one of the diet is three miserable days of consuming just 1000 calories including three green juices, followed by four more days when youre permitted 1500 calories but still have to gag on drink green juice.
Phase two lasts for two weeks and isn't a whole lot more appealing, while longer-term you have to continue consuming the same list of foods repeatedly.
Polyphenol-rich food such as apples and citrus, green leafy vegetables, berries and olive oil are all perfectly healthy but having to focus on them at every meal is faddish and restrictive.
And thats the real reason the sirt diet works for those that do stick to it despite sounding seductively sciencey the restraints mean its just another not-particularly-well-disguised route to cutting calories.
If it works for you and it worked for Adele, then great. But lets not pretend sirt diet success stories are down to anything other than eating less.

Find an exercise time that works best for you – Rincn Latino
Exercise is a very individual thing. For many people, early morning is the only time of day available to exercise. For others, it is late evening. But if you have a choice, which is best?
Although we all know that exercise is important, we have lives with jobs, families, friends, household duties, errands and even the need for some rest and sleep.
Both morning and evening exercise have health benefits and potential pitfalls, but for most people, the right time to exercise is not about how many calories you burn or how much weight you lift. It is more about how you feel when exercising and how exercise fits into your daily schedule.
Of course, the best time to work out is whenever you can. But the best-best time of day to exercise is the time you can stick with for days, weeks and months. The fact of the matter is that people who exercise consistently see better weight loss and fitness results in the long-term.
Given that, morning workouts and night workouts both have their advantages and disadvantages as evidenced by decades of scientific research.
However, according to multiple research studies, morning workouts truly do have an edge.
People who exercise in the morning are often more consistent simply because morning workouts leave less room for excuses.
Waking up early might be difficult at first, but research suggests that a morning exercise habit can shift your circadian rhythm so that your body is naturally more alert in the morning and more tired in the evening. So, you fall asleep earlier and can exercise in the morning again.
Morning exercise also seems to boost deep sleep more than evening exercise. Plus, sleep helps muscle growth, so you might even see more strength gains if your circadian rhythm and sleep cycle improve.
Exercising on an empty stomach is proven to burn more fat than exercising after a meal. This happens because your body must utilize fat stores that already exist to fuel exercise, rather than use the calories you just ate. Other research also shows that the afterburn of calories by increased metabolism lasts longer when you exercise in the morning.
Exercising in the morning has a beneficial effect on energy levels, alertness, focus and decision-making, which can translate to a more productive workday.
Morning workouts can cause release of endorphins that your body produces in response to exercise can keep your mood improved long past your exercise.
Early morning workouts have their drawbacks, too.
If you did not eat enough the evening before, you might find yourself battling serious hunger mid-workout.
Depending on your sleep cycle, an early-morning alarm might interrupt deep sleep. This can result in sleep inertia (feeling groggy for a while after you wake up), as well as chronic fatigue if it happens often.
Most people do not roll out of bed feeling great. You might experience stiffness in your joints and temporary inflexibility. You should loosen up as you warm up, but studies show that certain strength markers, including peak power, are higher in the evening.
Your core body temperature is also lower in the morning. So, jumping into a workout, rather than slowly easing in, can result in injury. This is true all the time, but especially when your body is cooler.
Between noon and 4 p.m., many people feel more flexible, more mobile, and more physically energetic, which makes afternoon and evening the best time to exercise if possible.
Research shows that most people function better, physically speaking, later in the day. Muscle strength, flexibility, power output and endurance are all better in the evening than they are in the morning. Plus, people who exercise in the evening take up to 20% longer to reach the point of exhaustion.
Testosterone is important for building muscle in men and women, and your body might produce more of it during afternoon workouts than morning workouts, resulting in greater strength and muscle gains.
Exercise is a good way to relieve stress, but working out at night can really help you blow off some steam. The surge of endorphins you get during and after exercise can really help.
If you have some evening or nighttime habits you want to replace, like snacking, drinking, smoking, or watching too much TV, exercise can take the place of those habits.
Unfortunately, there are also some potential downsides to later exercise.
Although exercising at night is not always detrimental to sleep, scientists have found that some people might experience jitters if they work out too close to bedtime. This generally only applies to intense exercise, whereas yoga, stretching and other gentle exercises can improve your sleep when performed before bed.
If you are like many people, exercising at night may not work for you simply because you are too tired after a long day. Afternoon and evening workouts might interfere with daily responsibilities, especially if things tend to pile up during the day. If that seems familiar, you might try shifting your daily routine to fit in a morning workout instead.
No matter what time of day works best for you, get some exercise when you can.

Adele’s daily diet as she shares new snap of incredible 7st weightloss – Mirror Online
Adele used to love sweet treats, filling up on her beloved Jammie Dodgers, Tesco Chocolate Indulgence cake and cup after cup of PG Tips with two sugars.
But over the past year the singing superstar has completely changed her lifestyle and diet, and the transformation is incredible.
She shared another photo of her new look on social media to celebrate her 32nd birthday, and fans were blown away.
It shows her wearing a little black mini- dress with a sexy bardot neckline and billowing sleeves, standing inside a floral flower arrangements for her lockdown celebrations.
It's believed that Adele has lost a staggering seven stone since her divorce from Simon Konecki, turning her back on junk food and reportedly embracing the Sirtfood Diet.
The plan sees slimmers pack their plates with plant-based foods like strawberries, blueberries, apples, citrus fruits, walnuts, parsley, kale, capers, soy, turmeric and dark chocolate.
The foods are known as sirtuin activators, and are said to turn on the fat-burning gene and regulate the appetite in the process.
Green tea and cocoa powder are also on the menu, along with red wine and cheese.
The diet is notoriously gruelling to start, with followers limited to 1,000 calories a day consisting of three green smoothies and one small meal.
Between days four to seven the calorie limit rises to 1,500 calories made up from two green smoothies and two small meals.
And the 14-day maintenance phase allows three Sirtfood-based meals with one green smoothie.
Dishing on Adele's regime, her former personal trainer Camila Goodis - told the Daily Mail: "She's working out but I think 90 per cent of it is diet.
"It's a good diet to shed the weight. The first week is intense, green juices and only 1,000 calories," she said.
And defending Adele's new slimline look, the trainer to the stars added: "She doesn't look too thin - she looks amazing."
Now in the maintenance stage, Adele's breakfast options include choc chip granola with pecans and jumbo oats or apple pancakes with blackcurrant compote.
Lunches features turmeric, chicken and kale salad, or baked potato and chickpea stew while the dinners include chargrilled beef with red wine jus and onion rings, garlic kale and herb roasted potatoes.
However, nutritionist have warned that the extreme programme could actually lead to more weight gain in the long term.
Dietitian Emer Delaney told the BBC: "At first glance, this is not a diet I would advise for my clients.
"Having a glass of red wine or a small amount of chocolate occasionally wont do us any harm - I wouldnt recommend them on a daily basis. We should also be eating a mixture of different fruits and vegetables and not just those on the list.
"In terms of weight loss and boosting metabolism, people may have experienced a seven pound weight loss on the scales, but in my experience this will be fluid. As soon as people return to their regular eating habits, they will regain the weight."

Taking time to stretch is worth it – Shawnee News Star
Achieving fitness success is more complex than just the extreme muscle burns, gut wrenching lifts, blood, sweat, and tear workouts. There is an important low-impact and very relaxing piece of the exercise puzzle that must not be forgotten each time that you train!
Achieving fitness success is more complex than just the extreme muscle burns, gut wrenching lifts, blood, sweat, and tear workouts. There is an important low-impact and very relaxing piece of the exercise puzzle that must not be forgotten each time that you train! And that is improving your flexibility, mobility and stretching! Please take time every workout to stretch so that you maintain and help promote your muscle recovery, flexibility and joint mobility! It improves quality of life through increased range of motion and takes only five to seven minutes of your time following your pre-workout warm up, and only 10 to 15 minutes at the conclusion of your training session.
Too many times after physical activity, we fail to slow down and stretch before rushing out of the gym on our way to complete the rest of our busy day. I offer a better alternative for you to try. Take time to promote flexibility and mobility by stretching following your workouts, and use that time to reflect on short and/or long-term accomplishments for yourself.
Just relax, acknowledge, and enjoy the fact that you have successfully completed a very important part of your day that will absolutely help keep you healthy, vibrant, functioning well, and strong. I hope everyone sees the benefit, and agrees that taking steps to remain in the best shape of your life physically is absolutely one of the most important accomplishments of each and every day! I encourage you to celebrate and be proud of your efforts, stretch, and reflect after every workout!
Not only is stretching very relaxing, but it has additional benefit. It promotes better posture and may help avoid chronic injuries due to poor postural alignment and musculature imbalances. Flexibility training may help realign skeletal structure that has adapted to habits of incorrect posture and poor exercise technique. After including consistent flexibility training over a period of time, you will often find it easier to maintain posture throughout the day, and improved muscular balance will make the efforts of daily activities less strenuous.
Increased range of motion at the joints may also be achieved. Flexibility training can provide for a greater joint efficiency and result in a safer movement. A mobile joint moves more easily through a range of motion and requires less energy to execute.
Also, the development of your functional strength is enhanced. Stretches performed for your entire body will prepare you for movements routinely executed throughout the course of your normal day. (Lifting, turning, kneeling, walking, etc) Stretches typically mimic these everyday movements, challenges the muscles and joints involved, and prepare you to perform them with ease.
Most agree that stretching and increased range of motion may also help with injury prevention.
A person may decrease chances of injury because the maximum range available before soft tissue damage occurs will not likely be exceeded.
And fitness enthusiasts of all levels certainly dont want to miss out on the benefit of reduced muscle soreness that comes with stretching following strenuous physical activity. Effective muscle recovery is another important benefit of regular stretching you want to include in your comprehensive fitness program. Maximum muscle recovery promotes short-term maximum muscle performance for your next workout, and long term overall program compliance and success!
Finally stretching absolutely promotes personal enjoyment, relaxation and reduced stress! There is nothing like a good, long stretch after a challenging physical workout. It will relax, rejuvenate and prepare you for the rest of the day.
After your workout, I encourage you to just lay back and get completely lost in your stretches for the entire body. Take your time and lengthen your muscles back to normal. This will allow for proper recovery, prevent cramping, decrease soreness, and reduce the risk of injury often related to tight muscles while performing post workout physical tasks at home or work.
Until next week please enjoy more stretches, increase muscle flexibility and joint mobility, reflect and acknowledge your accomplishments after workouts, and strive for maximum recovery to propel your quality of life and fitness results to the next level! Until next week please make it a healthy and nutritious day!
