Lets Not Be Amazed that Multimillionaire Adele Can Lose Weight – CCN.com
OMG! Adele has lost weight! Wow! I mean, Adele is a multimillionaire with lots of leisure time on her hands. So its almost unbelievable that someone in her unfortunate position could shed some pounds. She deserves a medal, or perhaps some more platinum certificates and Grammy awards.
Seriously, its ridiculous that millions of people are excited by a mega-rich celebrity losing weight. They see one photo on Instagram of a member of the global elite with a svelte figure, and they quickly fall in line with excessive praise.
Yeah, I know: Adele went through a painful divorce. Big whoop: pretty much every person on the planet has been through a trauma of one kind or another. But Adele is rich beyond 99.9% of the global populations wildest dreams, so wed be stupid to think that her dramatic makeover proves we can all do the same.
In case you missed it, Adele posted a photo on Instagram today. Intended to mark her 32nd birthday, it revealed that shes lost some weight. Not only that, but it also revealed a dramatic change in style.
So far, so ordinary. But much of the internet responded to this modest post by going mental. Seriously, people lost their marbles. It was as if no one had ever lost weight in the history of human civilization before, least of all multimillionaire celebrities.
A large number of very easily impressed people also commented on how Adele has remodelled her image. Again, its absolutely (not) unbelievable that the second richest musician in the U.K. worth 150 million (c. $185.5 million) can find the time and money to buy some new clothes and makeup.
Really, is it that the coronavirus pandemic has left us with nothing genuinely worth getting excited about?
Or is it simply that social media encourages people to jump on the bandwagon of lowest-common-denominator trends, so as to increase their likes and follower counts?
Regardless, there is nothing interesting or remarkable about someone like Adele losing weight or changing their image. Nothing.
Sure, some people might reply, But Adeles weight loss-makeover serves as inspirational proof of how we can all lose weight and look great.
People who think such a thing are gravely mistaken. Yes, Adele lost weight and changed her look. But this has very little relevance to most people on Earth.
Most people on Earth do not sit on a fortune of $185 million. When looking at developed countries, obesity is more common among the poor. In the U.S., studies have found that poorer people are less able to lose weight.
In other words, getting excited about Adele because shes an example to us all is deluded. Shes an example to some, but many others will lack the resources of time, money and education to ever lose weight or make themselves over. To think otherwise is to hide from reality.
Indeed, the adulation weve bestowed on Adele today serves to blind us from reality. Our hoisting of Adele onto an everywoman pedestal hides inequality. It obscures the fact that Adele and others like her benefit from great wealth, while many of us suffer from the lack of it.
Yes, Adele was in a toxic relationship. But shes much more capable of bouncing back from it than the rest of us. For many women, divorce isnt even an option.
So again, excuse me if I dont get excited about a celebrity. We should all be more interested in reality.

Rumors about KJU’s health still circulating in the border region – Daily NK – DailyNK
Rumors about North Korean leader Kim Jong Un are still circulating in the Sino-North Korean border region despite his return to the public stage after a 20-day absence, Daily NK has learned.
After Kim Jong Un resurfaced, people started saying that the defectors in South Korea were the ones that first started to spread rumors of his death, a North Hamgyong Province-based source told Daily NK on Friday.
People tend to think that those who betrayed their country and ran away [defectors] made up the story, but theyre also not surprised because they think the society [South Korea] allows groundless rumors to spread quite easily, he added.
ALL SORTS OF RUMORS
Prior to Kim Jong Uns reemergence into the public eye, a video announcing Kim Jong Uns death had been circulating among North Koreans in the Sino-North Korean border region.
The North Korean leader extinguished rumors of his death when he made an appearance on May 1 at the Sunchon Phosphatic Fertilizer Factory ribbon cutting ceremony. Speculation about his ill health has persisted, however, based on the unnatural way he was seen walking or the fact that he used a golf cart to get around.
One rumor circulating in North Korea reportedly focuses on some kind of issue with Kims legs.
People are speculating that Kim Jong Un cant walk properly right now because he might have gotten leg surgery due to his weight, the source said.
Other rumors say that he rode around in a car during the opening ceremony because he couldnt walk properly, while some say that he was exercising to lose weight but strained himself and had to take a long break to rest. There are all sorts of rumors, he added.
CRACKDOWNS ON INTERNATIONAL CALLS
The source further reported that lecturers and other meetings held by the authorities for ordinary people have not mentioned anything about these rumors.
The general approach seems to be to ignore [the rumors], but they do keep threatening severe penalties for anyone who makes [international] phone calls in the Sino-North Korean border, he explained.
Recently, there was someone who was caught making an [international] call in the mountains, the source said, adding, His entire family is completely terrified that the man will be made an example of.
The man in question was a reportedly cash broker who tried making an international call late last month while travelling to Sechon Laborers District in Hoeryong. A North Korean signal detection team discovered him making the call and arrested him.
Usually people will quickly get rid of the phone battery and swallow the SIM card to escape punishment, but the man didnt have the time to do that. The arresting officials didnt accept a bribe, either, the source said.
The man may have just been unlucky given that rumors are saying that the Ministry of State Security is putting all its efforts into catching people its had its eye on for some time, he added.

Meghan McCain admits that her "worst fear, quot; right now is the reaction of the media not to lose the baby’s weight fast enough. Up News Info -…

In the last episode of The View, Meghan McCain spoke about her greatest fear and it's quite surprising! According to the conservative expert, what she fears the most is receiving a violent reaction for not losing the baby's weight quickly enough after giving birth!
%MINIFYHTML6ac359a554045912e3066548523806e117%
As you know, Meghan is pregnant with her first baby and it happened that the topic of discussion on The View earlier today was celebrity weight loss.
Whoopi Goldberg started the conversation focused on Adele's incredible transformation as the singer has dropped no less than 100 pounds.
The star just shared a photo from her birthday celebration in which she was showing off her new fit frame while wearing a little black dress that showed off her legs and small waist.
Whoopi argued that there is something in the reaction to Adele's weight that validates the fact that you must be thin to be valued in this world. And it confirms all the fears women like me have that if I only lost 30 pounds, maybe the media would love me more.
Meghan then shared her point of view on this, saying that: 'I was talking to my sister-in-law and I was telling her that one of the strange parts of being pregnant during this pandemic is that the world cannot see my body change because you the boys only see me from the waist up. And one of my biggest fears when we look forward to returning to the show is that the media reaction will be the weight you gain while pregnant and then if I don't lose it fast enough. "

She then emphasized once again that her worst fear at the moment is not related to elections or politics in general, but rather how the media will react to the transformation of her body after having her baby.

Weight loss tricks: They invent a simple workout to lose weight and gain muscle in just 5 exercises – Explica
Quick, concise and with almost immediate results. These are five exercises, 25 minutes, designed to gain muscle throughout the body. It is a guideline designed by MensHealth designed to be done three times a week. With a day of rest between sessions. The workout has six easy steps to gain muscle, lose weight, and get in tune.
In the plank position, on a bench with the left forearm supported and a leg separation as wide as the men,you must hold a dumbbell in your right hand and do a one-hand dorsal paddle. 4 sets are enough: two with each arm.
You have to change your posture and lie on your upper back, with your legs bent and your feet flat on the floor, squeezing your abs, glutes and lifting your butt. And, with a weight in each hand, you have to do a chest press. It is also about four series.
We stand up. And, with a weight in his right hand. We stride with the left leg while raising the hand with a shoulder press. There are also 4 series. Two with each arm.
Lying down, en this time, face up, you have to hold two dumbbells with your arms stretched and raise and jerk your legs without touching the ground with our feet.Another 4 series and youre done.
With a dumbbell in our hands, we end the exercise with a jump squat if we still have strength. With those 4 series the training ends
In addition to these guidelines, outdoor exercise is also recommended. Many citizens bet on losing the kilos gained in quarantine by going out for a run. And, due to inexperience, shoelaces and overloads arrive. For this reason, specialized publications such as Mens Healt become the latest simple training in fashion to lose weight and also avoid injuries. It is very easy to carry out and suitable for beginners. The method, which is called Caco, is simply based on alternating walks with running. Do not run at once, then.
On the other hand, to recover, a well-known fruit can also be a good option: pineapple. Studies have shown that its carbohydrates help to recover quickly after an effort, so it is recommended to consume it just after exercise. The key is the glycogen that is recovered, which has previously been expended on physical exertion. On the other hand, pineapple contains bromelain, which is an oak that helps repair damaged muscle fibers and causes stiffness. The stiffness, as a quick explanation, are micro-breaks that appear in the body due to the accumulation of lactic acid and go away in about 48 hours.

Don Lee: Into the blue yonder in a battery-powered airplane – The Tribune – Ironton Tribune
In the last column, we reviewed the 1986 Voyager non-stop trip around the world in nine days with Dick Rutan and Jeana Yeager. This week, we explore more recent news.
The continuing development of electric-powered airplanes made the news recently. I think it didnt make the mass media, since everyone wants the latest news on the infamous virus known at COVID-19.
NASA has become interested in the electric-powered airplane it has named the X-57 Maxwell electric plane.
It is the first government-sponsored experimental airplane in 20 years.
It is not exotic as previous X-designated planes. A comment I read mentioned that the test pilots will be wearing polo shirts and shorts rather than special pressure suits. That says this experimental aircraft is about as laid back as it can get.
The electric plane has to overcome several obstacles before it is a practical way to travel.
First of all, the current development of a battery is not very efficient, even though the lithium battery is a great improvement over the lead acid battery that starts our internal combustion powered vehicles.
The lead acid battery was invented in 1859 by a French scientist, Gaston Plante. It has a very low energy to weight ratio even though it powered electric cars in the 1918-era.
My dad, Robert E. Lee, not the Civil War general (I am not that old), told me that the doctor that came to deliver my oldest brother in November 1918 arrived in an electric car.
Also, in the late 1930s, I remember seeing these old ladies driving an electric car in Terre Haute, Indiana. It had a vase on the windshield near the drivers side with a flower in it. It was rather slow moving.
OK, back to the latest, the X-57 Maxwell is powered by 14 electric motors and two 400-pound lithium-ion batteries.
It will use all the motors to take off, but when it is in cruise mode, only the two large motors mounted in the wing tips will be used.
When the smaller motors are shut down, the propellers fold back to reduce the drag.
As with government projects, it will be several months before they will actually fly it. The ground testing will occupy them during this time.
The electric plane has a few problems over the jet and internal combustion powered engines. The jet-powered planes take off with more fuel than they can safely land with. When they reach their destination, they are considerably lighter in weight.
The electric plane doesnt lose weight and this takes more power. Also, the batteries need a long time to charge, although the plane could be designed to change out the batteries quickly.
The name Maxwell was inspired by remembering the 19th century physicist, James Clerk Maxwell, who was a pioneer in studying electromagnetism.
Albert Einstein was an admirer and said he accomplished his theories by standing on the shoulders of Maxwell.
Don Lee, a pilot flying out of Lawrence County Airport since 1970, has been in charge of equipment and grounds maintenance for the last several years. He can be reached at eelnod22@gmail.com

Dear Dietitian What’s the real story with apple cider vinegar? – Kiowa County Press
Dear Dietitian,
Can you settle a bet between my sister and me? She says apple cider vinegar has many health benefits and that it even can help with weight loss. I say that's bologna. What do you say?
Jenny
Dear Jenny,
If you check out apple cider vinegar (ACV) on the internet, you will find uses for it from weight loss to blood sugar management to cancer treatment. How is one to know what to believe?
Apple cider vinegar, or just cider vinegar, is made from apples and water that have fermented over time, producing alcohol. Then a bacterium known as Acetobacter converts the alcohol to acetic acid, and the concoction becomes vinegar. Some claim that ACV is rich in micronutrients and antioxidants. The truth is it contains mostly water, about 4% acetic acid, and small amounts of potassium and carbohydrate.
Cider vinegar has a long and rich history. It is said that Hippocrates, the Father of Medicine, prescribed it along with honey to alleviate a cough. It was also used as a disinfectant to clean wounds. The acetic acid would eliminate bacteria, which would help prevent infections.
Vinegar was also used to make posca, a drink common in ancient Greece and Rome. Posca was made from wine vinegar, diluted with water, and flavored with herbs. It was consumed by soldiers, the lower economic classes, and slaves. The acid in the vinegar destroyed germs in otherwise unclean water.
Vinegar is still used today as an inexpensive cleaning agent. It cleans windows and floors and can even help remove the unpleasant odor of pet urine in carpet by neutralizing uric acid. Of course, ACV is used in salad dressings and other recipes.
As far as ACV health studies, there are few and they are small. A randomized, controlled trial of 39 participants studied its effect on weight loss. All the volunteers were put on a calorie-restricted diet for twelve weeks. One group was given 30 mL/day of ACV, while the other group was given placebo. The ACV group lost more weight and had reduced levels of triglycerides and total cholesterol compared to the control group (1). This study is greatly limited by its small size. It is too small to draw any real scientific conclusion. If the study contained 100 people in the control group and 100 in the ACV group, it might attract attention.
In another small study of 29 people, ACV was found to improve post-meal blood sugar levels in those who were insulin resistant or had type 2 diabetes. It was proposed that vinegar prevented the breakdown and absorption of some starches, thereby decreasing blood sugar (2). The same limitation of small study size applies here.
A misconception exists that the acid in vinegar can treat or prevent cancer. Although a study found that tumor cells died when treated with cider vinegar, these tests were done in a laboratory and have no indication of its use in the human body. The same goes for the theory that cancer grows more quickly in an acidic environment. These tests were performed on cancer cells in a lab. The human body has a built-in mechanism that constantly regulates pH balance, and it is not affected by what we eat or drink.
As with just about anything, ACV has potential harmful effects. Full-strength ACV can cause erosion of tooth enamel, which may lead to decay. It can also cause mouth sores and trigger gastric reflux. Proponents recommend diluting ACV with water before drinking it.
In summary, apple cider vinegar has versatile uses as a cleaning agent and food ingredient. However, there is no significant clinical evidence to support any health claims of ACV, and its use is not recommended in medical guidelines of any major public health organization (3).
That should settle the bet.
Until next time, be healthy!

Heres What Chris Evans Does To Look Like Captain America – TheThings
Chris Evans told Huff Post that getting in Captain Americashape really wasnt easy: Working out sucked, eating sucked more. You get to a point where you just cant even look at another piece of chicken. Youre just so bloated, but you just have to keep consuming protein, so that was tricky.
Just likeDwayne Johnson, Evans needed to bulk up, which meant that he needed to up his meal intake. He ate endless protein, in the form of chicken breasts and protein shakes.
The tricky part was not spilling over and gaining fat, and well discuss everything Evans did in order to avoid that outcome. From his workouts to his eating habits, well look at everything that went into turning Evans into Captain America.
Enjoy the article and, like always, be sure to share it with a friend. Lets get started!
Hollywood celebs who are building for shirtless roles usually need to lose weight via rigorous diets. Chris Evans talked about workouts to Huff Postand explained that things were a little different for him. He actually needed to gain weight instead of losing it. He explained that the process was a challenging one, both nutrition-wise and training-wise;
It was just relentless. Ive got a fast metabolism and I lose weight very quickly, so for me to get big, it was just eat a lot.
As Chris Evans explained to Extra. the nutrition part was a grind every single day, especially given all the chicken breast he was forced to eat. By the end of it, he couldnt even look at a chicken breast the same way.
Evans was also careful with carb choices and usually ate his chicken with some plain brown rice. There really wasnt an easy way out when it came to food!
According to Evans trainer, a lot of his lifts included classic compound movements, such as the deadlift, squat and incline bench press. The bench was meant to bring out his upper pec, especially given that he was rocking the Captain America suit.
Along with the compounds, Evans also hit bodyweight exercises such as pullups and other movements that were meant to get his heart rate going.

The name of the game with celebs tends to be lighter weights and more reps, as this workout regimen fills out muscle during a cutting phase.
However, Evans and his trainer took a different approach, attempting to tax the central nervous system with big weights and a lessened volume range. The workouts were grueling, and Evans admitted that he resented going to the gym for a little while.
It wasnt one of those programs that featured abs, chest, and arms every single day. The goal was to make Evans well-rounded, especially on-screen, while he was rocking the prestigious Captain America suit.
That meant back and leg exercises on their own days. Leg day was never easy. It was quite a grind for Evans.
When it came to his carb intake, Evans trainer was very cautious about what kind of carbs were going into Chris' body.
Among the acceptable carbs were specific fruits, such as berries, which are low in calories compared to other fruits. Apples were also allowed - apples are an easy fruit to consume, especially for a busy and active guy like Chris, who is always on the go.
RELATED -Scarlett Johansson And Chris Evans: What We Know About Their Friendship
His workout schedule, according to Super Hero Jacked, featured five days in a row, which were followed by two rest days on the weekend.
He wasnt hitting multiple body parts at once - instead, the goal was single body parts on each day. So, day one featured legs, while day two was back, and day three was the chest. He ended the week with biceps and triceps, followed by a delt day.
He had at least six meals a day - for someone like Dwayne Johnson, that is considered breakfastfor the rest of us, though, thats a lot of meals per day. A couple of meals consisted of pre and post-workout snacks, to fuel and build or to repair.
Supplementation is required to supplement a need you arent meeting through your daily diet. For Chris, that was protein, as eating massive amounts of chicken breasts wasnt always possible...although he did eat plenty of chicken, Evans turned to shakes throughout the day to up his protein levels.
He also fueled his workouts with a BCAA drink that gave him extra energy.
RELATED -What Chris Evans is Up to Post-Captain America
The protein intake was sky-high - he was basically upping his protein total with every meal he ate. Chicken breasts were the key source, given how protein-dense they are, matched with a low-fat total ranging around 1.5 grams of fat per serving. Evans also used protein shakes and lean fish, to change things up from time to time.
Carbohydrates werent as prevalent as Evans would have liked. It was a tricky project for his trainer, as they wanted Evans to look full and jacked, but not bloated.
In order to do this properly, they needed to be aware of his carb sources, which were limited to brown rice post-workout, along with healthy berries.

Mum who was ‘ashamed’ of her weight sheds eight stone – ExaminerLive
A care manager who was so ashamed by her weight that she only went to the supermarket after dark told how she shed nearly 8st.
Leanne Wrathall weighed 18st 6lb before her transformation which saw her shrink from a size 24 to a10.
The 36-year-old mum-of-four of Harlow, Essex, said her life was ruined by her weight, leaving her humiliated during nights out and so paranoid about attracting negative attention that she always made her husband fill up their car at the petrol station.
Just 5ft 1in tall, at her 18st 6lb heaviest, she was so big that her body mass index (BMI) used by medics to gauge a healthy weight was 46.8, compared to the NHS recommended range of between 18.5 to 24.9, meaning she was obese.
But Leanne, who has four children, Teagan-Faye, 12, Hayden-Leigh, 10, Teddy, eight, and Xander, three, with her care worker husband, Darren, 38, said her turning point came when she could not fasten an airline seatbelt over her belly prompting her to join the 1:1 Cambridge Weight Plan shedding 7st 10lb and making her a 10st 10lb size 10 to 12.
Recalling how she felt haunted by her massive belly, she said: Id wake up, put my hands on my stomach and think, Its still there.
I couldnt look at myself in the mirror. My husband would have to get out of the car to get petrol at the garage, because I was too worried that people were looking at me. They probably werent but in my head they were.
Leanne explained: I would shop in the supermarket at night when there were less people there to see me, because I was so paranoid.
And if I put something in my shopping trolley, even if it was for my children, I worried that people were thinking, She shouldnt be eating that.
Describing herself as a comfort eater, Leanne who had always been on the bigger side fell into bad habits, grabbing food whenever she could, because of the unsociable hours she worked as a care manager.
Every time she tried to lose weight, managing to shed six stone for her wedding 11 years ago, she could not keep it off.
If I was having a good day, I would celebrate by eating and if I had a bad day or was stressed, I would treat food as my comfort blanket, she said.
I realised I rarely ever ate because I was hungry.
If I was out with friends or my kids, if they did not finish their meal, I would finish it for them, she recalled.
Carbs were my downfall. I would eat a lot of pasta and convenience food, especially because of my work. I work long, unsociable hours and I would not have time to prepare dinner, so it would be pizza or a takeaway, then Id go to sleep.
Sometimes I wouldnt eat all day, then I would think, Well, I can treat myself.
Leanne continued: I felt awful about it. It left me depressed. My weight would be the thing I thought about last thing at night and first thing when I woke up in the morning.
Nights out also filled Leanne with dread weeks in advance, as she stressed about what to wear.
Id have friends come to stay from abroad and I couldnt bring myself to go on nights out with them, because of how I looked, she recalled.
If I did go out, I would sit in the corner, not even getting up to go to the toilet for the whole night. I would hold it in because I didnt want to walk across the room in front of people, she added.
I would stress for weeks if I had something coming up especially if anyone asked me what I was going to wear. I could not talk about it and on the night itself, I would sit in my bedroom crying.
I could not walk up the stairs without getting out of breath and I couldnt play with the kids.
She said: If my three-year-old was having fun in a soft play area, I wouldnt join him, because I was worried about what I looked like.
The final humiliation came for Leanne when she had to ask for a seatbelt extender before take-off on a flight to Romania.
I travel to Romania quite a lot, as I volunteer with charities, so the turning point for me was at the beginning of 2018, she said.
I had to ask for a seat belt extender. Id been stretching the seatbelt as far as I could and trying to hold in my stomach, but I simply couldnt fasten it. It was so embarrassing, she recalled.
That was the moment when I finally knew I had to lose weight.
Finding slimming groups intimidating, Leanne opted to follow the 1:1 Diet by Cambridge Weight Plan, where she met with her consultant Nikki one-on-one, rather than in a group.
Asked not to be told her starting weight, she only found out that she had reached 18st 6lb after she had lost three stone.
Swapping her usual junk food for shakes, porridge, snack bars and healthier meals like spaghetti Bolognese and cottage pie, the weight started to drop off.
I began to see results really quickly and every time I lost a stone, I would get a fridge magnet. Those fridge magnets felt like getting the Olympic gold medal, she laughed.
I lost eight pounds in the first week and a stone and a half in the first month. Then it was an average of a stone a month, she said.
If I went on holiday, Id have a little break from the plan, but I found I would naturally pick the healthier options.
I love the food. I know its full of goodness and nutrients, and especially at the moment, Im doing my best to keep healthy.
I also drink three litres of water a day, Leanne added.
Leanne even started to exercise doing a couple of cardio classes at the gym each week and taking part in charity runs slimming down to 10st 10lb by October 2019.
Now I just feel content. Im not saying I look in the mirror and say, Wow, I look good, but I feel much more confident, she said.
Im the first to suggest to my friends that we go to a concert, or meet up if theres a DJ on in town, she said.
We went on holiday to Ibiza in June and it was the best holiday weve ever had. I just enjoyed it and because I was enjoying it, the kids had a great time too. I was in the swimming pool playing with them.
I bought a different bikini to wear every day for the whole two weeks. In fact, I bought 16, so a couple of times I had to change, because I was determined to wear every one of them and Id never worn a bikini before.
She said: I stopped worrying what people were thinking and felt comfortable walking around the supermarket in daylight.
It takes a while for your brain to catch up with your body, so in my head I was not a size 10 and Id still go and pick up a size 14.
Someone would say, That looks big on you, so Id pick up a 10 and think, Oh my God it fits! As a size 16 I was still wearing a size 22!
Four people who have really benefited from Leannes weight loss are her children.
My kids love it, she said. They used to play a game where they would measure my waist by hugging me. Now they can touch their hands around me, whereas when I was big, they couldnt do that.
My consultant, Nikki, is fantastic. Its not a quick fix, its a lifestyle change and she has been there for me every step of the way.
Now I want other obese people to stop being miserable by following in my footsteps and losing weight. If I can do it then anyone can.
