Weight loss tips: How to lose weight and get fit like this guy who lost 42 kg with the help of this one thing – GQ India

There are no quick tricks to lose weight or even magical weight loss hacks that can render the same effect as that of cleaning your diet. Weight loss begins in the kitchen by eating right. It is one of the foremost things you need to change to embark on a fitter future. 26-year-old Mohit D Anand, who recently worked alongside Sanjay Dutt in Panipat credits Dr. Siddhant Bhargava, Chief Nutritionist & Co-Founder of Food Darzeea Mumbai-based company that offers tailor made nutrition by serving customised diet mealsfor helping him stay on track during his weight loss journey.

Anand shares that at his heaviest, 4 years ago, he weighed 122 kg with 39 per cent body fat. And today, after following the below weight loss plan, he weighs 80 kg with 18 per cent body fat. Growing up, I never shied away from food. I ate a lot of food but also hit the gym. However, I started noticing a change in the weighing scale after realising that I had no idea about my body type. I was constantly binging on the wrong foods, he says. So I commenced on the below weight loss plan to help me get back on track.

I started running 10 km a day as well as monitoring my calorie intake, apart from still going to the gym. I reduced my total calorie consumption to 1500 calories and also learnt about how my body reacts to different foods.

QUICK READ: How many calories should you eat every day to lose weight?

My body type is that of an endomorph, which means I get bulky as soon as I start lifting and then overweight as well very soon. So, I worked very hard everyday to build muscles like that of my fitness idols Akshay Kumar and John Abraham and followed the below basic diet plan.

I started eating a lot of home-made food as well as avoiding sugar and oil after 7 pm. Now, Ive also turned vegetarian after watching Game Changers on Netflix.

Weight loss is difficult and asks for a lot. But if you are willing to go the extra mile then nothing can stop you. Not even excuses. Dwayne Johnson is one of the busiest celebrities in the world, yet he still has time to go to the gym daily - whats stopping you?

Lose weight by cutting calories but eat MORE to blast fat faster, expert reveals – The Sun

YOU don't have to be an expert to know that eating and drinking more calories than you burn leads to piling on the pounds.

So, it would make sense that cutting down on what you consume - and increasing exercise - can help you lose weight.

1

Dieters who start counting calories are likely to see great results when it comes to weight loss.

But seriously restricting food might not be the best option for those that want to burn fat too, according to one expert.

Terry Fairclough, a personal trainer and nutritional therapist, says that eating more could actually be more beneficial.

He told Healthista: "While a calorie deficit may lead to weight loss, it wont necessarily lead to fat loss, which is what most people want to achieve.

"These days the Western diet is far larger than it needs to be. Many people do need to have a slight deficit in calories but thats only because they were probably overeating in the first place.

A calorie deficit may lead to weight loss, it wont necessarily lead to fat loss, which is what most people want to achieve

"However, in my experience when it comes to people trying to lose weight, they think under eating is the only way to do that, and this simply isnt the case."

Terry explained that when we eat, our body breaks down carbohydrates and converts them to a type of sugar called glucose, which is the main source of fuel for our cells.

So when you start cutting calories, what you lose is stored carbohydrate and glucose - not fat.

He added: "Although many of us seek to lose fat, a long term calorie deficit will panic the body into holding onto fat and to breaking down protein instead."

Here, Terry reveals why you shouldn't cut calories if you want to burn fat...

Cutting calories and restricting macronutrients and micronutrients can make us susceptible to nutrient deficiencies, Terry says.

This can have a knock-on effect on every system in the body, especially the immune, liver and digestive systems which can easily cascade into health problems and slow down your metabolism.

"Health issues caused by under eating include fatigue, malnutrition, osteoporosis, anaemia, polycystic ovaries, depression, amenorrhoea and other hormone related conditions and fertility issues," he said.

Terry said that many dieters will shun fats if they're trying to lose weight, but actually it's one of the most important food groups.

He said: "Fat is the bodys most important and long-lasting fuel source providing more than twice as much potential energy as carbohydrates or protein.

"It contains nine calories per gram of fat versus four calories each per gram of protein or carbohydrate.

"Fat is also stored within our muscle fibres, where it can be more easily accessed during exercise.

"Unlike your glycogen stores, which are limited, body fat is pretty much an unlimited source of energy.

"During exercise, stored fat in the body is broken down into fatty acids.

"These fatty acids are transported through the blood to our muscles for fuel.

"So basically, we need fat in order to exercise and get into shape.

"So quitting fat cold turkey will mean you simply wont have enough energy to burn the fat you dont want."

Most of us don't need any extra stress than we already have - but extreme calorie deficits can do this to your body.

It causes our bodies to release the stress hormone cortisol, which breaks down fuel for energy.

Terry says: "In the short term, this increase in cortisol can cause weight loss its why you may see a person going through a hard time lose a lot of weight.

"But long term stress with chronic increased cortisol causes the body to panic, breaking down all those important energy stores.

"Much of this breakdown is protein as the body will try to hold onto fat for as long as possible."

He explains that as a result, this can cause the metabolism to slow.

But chronic high cortisol release also panics the body into up regulating fat receptors around fat cells - especially around the belly so you might get increased fat around the middle.

Under eating can also cause us to stop digesting and absorbing essential nutrients needed for basic functioning and good health.

This can have a knock-on effect on our sleep.

Terry says: "When blood sugar levels drop, another stress hormone, adrenaline, is released to help bring levels back to normal, waking you up in the process.

"Poor sleep can have a massive knock on effect on liver detoxification, immunity, exercise and work productivity as well as leading to weight gain."

He added: "If we keep cutting calories, there comes a point that we cant cut anymore and the body starts breaking down and basic functions start to fail.

"This can impact your metabolism to such a degree that losing weight can feel like its impossible because anytime you eat anything over your prescribed calorie limit, your body which constant calorie cutting has led into famine mode will store it as fat for use in well, a famine.

Terry says the bottom line is that you shouldn't restrict yourself.

Instead, it's important to eat thecorrect number of calories, carbs, fat and protein for your specific body type, goal, activity level, height, weight and age.

He said: "I founded the Your Body Programme (YBP) to help people figure out their calorie needs based on their specific body types.

"You can click on this YBP calculator to figure out what your body type is which can then help you fiigure out what your body needs.

"You only have one body, help it to become optimal by being healthy and nourished, while keeping your metabolism firing.

The collagen diet could help you lose weight and leave you with glowing skin – The Sun

Want to lose weight and get glowing skin? Join the club.

Increasing your collagen intake might be the answer, says best-selling author Dr Josh Axe in his new book The Collagen Diet.

1

Through various research studies and food plans, Dr Axe has pinpointed collagen to have invaluable benefits including weight control and clearer skin.

Having gone through his own personal journey with collagen after he found its benefits to improve his gut health and irritable bowel problems, he has since identified collagen to be the "missing link to modern health".

Collagen is a strong fibrous protein woven into your bodys thread of tissues, all inter-connected like one big fusion of wires.

"Collagen is the glue that holds you together", says Dr Axe.

Naturally found in our bodies, from skin to nails to bones, muscles, blood vessels and in lining of our gut, collagen is hidden everywhere throughout our bodies.

For a small substance it ranks highly for anti-ageing benefits which is why its found in so many beauty products promoting healthy and radiant skin.

Research has shown collagen can:

Besides these glorious benefits, it can also support weight loss and help you to achieve glowing skin.

Collagen being the strong fibrous protein that it is, helps to maintain your skins elasticity and springiness by working alongside the proteinelastinwhich is found mainly in the dermis layer of your skin thats the toughest layer of your skin that helps keep tissue strong and flexible.

But as we age, these features unfortunately start to lose their benefits as your bodys natural collagen reserves start to decline from the start of your mid-twenties at a rate of one percent per year.

Collagen is the glue that holds you together

Before you know it by the time youre in your early fifties and above, research has shown that there is a significant decrease in the rate of collagen production by 75 per cent compared to those younger than thirty.

Lifestyle factors can play a key role in reducing your natural collagen levels, such as increased sun exposure, smoking, stress and poor gut health.

Although hard to resist, high sugar consumption is one of the main culprits in destroying your bodys natural collagen production.

Often weight loss can lead to more sagging skin.

But adding collagen to your diet can protect your muscle tissue as you shed pounds and help you keep the weight off for good, asserts Dr Axe.

Research published in theAmerican Journal of Physiology- Regulatory, Integrative, and Comparative Physiologyfound that rats given a diet high in glycine (an anti-ageing building block found in collagen) were protected from accumulating fat in the abdominal area.

The study also showed the rats were able to break down fat at a higher rate, implying the role of collagen may affect your weight in a positive way by also heavily reducing your risk of developing serious diseases associated with extreme weight gain such as diabetes and heart disease.

A low-carb, low-sugar diet rich in collagen is the best way to reduce the deep fat that surrounds the organs in your belly known asvisceral fat this is the kind of fat most often found around the middle of the body.

This kind of fat can put pressure on your collagen-rich tissues such as those found in knee and spine cartilage, causing collagen production to diminish at a quicker rate than normal.

High levels of this abdominal fat can also cause a spike in inflammatory cytokines, which are proteins that promote inflammation, leading to a greater chance of developing inflammatory diseases such as type 2 diabetes and high blood pressure. These proteins can also damage your natural production of collagen too.

The foods to avoid which increase inflammation, destroy your collagen production and also reduce the quantity of collagen in your body are:

To achieve a diet high in collagen and anti-inflammatory whole foods pack your meals with the following:

Looking at the Biggest Gainers, Biggest Losers and Other Weight Changes Across Ohio State’s Football Roster | – Eleven Warriors

The Buckeyes are a bit bigger this season.

With spring practice nearly upon us, Ohio State released its official spring football roster, featuring the most up-to-date information on each player, including weight. And after comparing this season's numbers to last season's numbers, it looks like this team is a little more massive than the 2019 squad.

Ohio State enters spring practice with its average player about 3.8 pounds heavier than at the start of the 2019 season, with the team adding a collective 406 pounds spread across the entire roster.

We also decided to take a closer look at the weight changes to each player, highlighting the biggest gainers, the biggest losers and the changes at each position group.

For returning players, we used weights listed on the 2019 media guide, which was published right before the start of the 2019 season. For early enrollees, we use the weights listed on their 247Sports recruiting profiles, which were updated at the start of their senior seasons.

Here is how the weight of each scholarship player changed from last fall to this spring.

Offensive lineman Enokk Vimahi was by far Ohio State's biggest weight gainer from the beginning of last season to this spring, just as Ryan Day said he would.

He's a guy that we think can put on a lot of weight and get stronger," Day said of Vimahi following the season."He's super athletic. His father is one of his coaches, and he from a young age has trained him to be an offensive lineman, but has done a lot of things with flexibility, with bodyweight stuff. And so he's very, very athletic, very agile, and with his lower half, we think he's got the ability to put on a lot of weight.

So far, Vimahi has proven Day correct, putting on 42 pounds since the start of last fall.

RELATED Ryan Days Trip to Hawaii Helped Ohio State Land Enokk Vimahi After Just One Month of Recruiting Him

Craig Young is the next biggest weight-gainer among scholarship players. As hecontinues histransition from a high school athlete to college linebacker, Young has put on 28 pounds from the start of last fall.

After Stover, four Buckeyes put on close to 20 pounds. Bryson Shaw and Cade Stover each gained 20 pounds since last fall while Noah Potter and Jameson Williams each put on 19.

Far fewer players shed weight than gained weight, but there were a few who had weight losses between the start of last season and now.

Though he's still an early enrollee and hasn't even suited up for an Ohio Statepractice yet, incoming freshman offensive lineman Trey Leroux has shed by far the most weight of any Buckeye since last football season.

Leroux is down to 335 pounds from the 355 pounds at which he was listed during his senior season in high school, dropping 20 pounds. Behind him, Baron Browning, Jaelen Gill, Ellijah Gardiner and Justin Hilliard have each shed weight as well, though none have lost even half as much as Leroux.

All four Buckeye scholarship quarterbacksgained weight from their 2019 seasons to Ohio State's official 2020 spring practice roster.

C.J. Stroud was the biggest weight-gainer, putting on 11 pounds from his listed weight on 247Sports during his final season of high school.

Of the returning players, Gunnar Hoak put on the most weight between the beginning of fall to the start of spring practice, gaining nine pounds.

Starting quarterback Justin Fields already the biggest quarterback on the roster put on five pounds this year, up to 228 pounds from the 223 he weighed at the start of fall.

Ohio State's running backs saw a slight weight gain overall over the past few months with the two biggest backs getting even bigger.

Master Teague and Steele Chambers were already the two heaviest scholarship running backs on the roster, and they are each added five more pounds to their large frames with Teague entering the spring at 225 pounds and Chambers at 220.

Neither Demario McCall or Marcus Crowley saw any weight changes from fall to the start of spring with McCall staying at 195 the only running back under 200 pounds and Crowley maintaining his 205-pound weight.

The wide receivers as a unit made a slight weight gain overall, but Jameson Williams made by far the largest body transformation of anyone in the unit.

Entering the fall, Williams was one of the smaller players on the entire roster, but after a few months, he's put on 19 pounds and is at 188 pounds entering the spring.

Though he's gained 19 pounds, Williams is still tied for the lightest weight among the receivers, but certainly is not in a class by himself asChris Olave, Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Jaelen Gill also weigh188.

Next to Williams, fellow second-year Garrett Wilson saw the next biggest weight gain of the receivers, gaining five pounds since the start of his true freshman season.

Only two receivers lost weight since last fall with Ellijah Gardiner shedding five pounds from 205 to 200, and Gill losing seven pounds to move from 195 pounds to 188.

All four of Ohio State's scholarship tight ends put on some weight the past few months with the unit averaging a gain of seven pounds and no player weighing less than 253.

Jake Hausmann gained the most weight of the group, putting on 10 pounds since last fall, and Luke Farrell is not far behind with a gain of eight pounds.

Cormontae Hamilton already the biggest of the group added two more pounds to his frame while Jeremy Ruckert added three.

Ohio State's biggest unit in terms of both size and numbers was also the one with the largestgains per player.

The slobs gained an average of nearly nine pounds per player since last fall with now every scholarship player in the unit exceeding 300 pounds.

Enokk Vimahi was the biggest gainer both in the unit and on the entire roster, bulking up a whopping 42 pounds since last fall. Vimahi now weighs in at 305 pounds.

Four other linemen Paris Johnson Jr., Luke Wypler, Harry Miller and Nicholas Petit-Frere have put on more than 10 pounds of the past few months.

Only three linemen have lost weight since last fall with early enrollee Trey Leroux leading the way with 20 pounds shed since the start of his senior season. Dawand Jones lost one pound since the fall and Wyatt Davis has shed two.

The cornerbacks maintained a relatively consistent weight over the past few months with Sevyn Banks, Tyreke Johnson, Shaun Wade and Marcus Williamson all entering spring atthe exact same weight they began in the fall.

Early-enrollee Lejond Cavazos was the only scholarship player to lose weight, shedding one pound from the start of his senior season of high school.

Only Ryan Watts and Cameron Brown are listed with noticeablechanges to their weight, with Watts gaining eight pounds since the start of his senior season of high school to make him 195 pounds entering the spring. Meanwhile, Brown addedon four pounds to his frame, bringing his weight from 188 pounds to 192.

The safeties collectively saw a slight weight gain from last fall to this spring, but Bryson Shaw had one of the biggest size transitions of anyone on the roster.

Between the start of his firstseason and 2020 spring practice, Shaw has put on 20 pounds, bringing his weight from 175 to 195.

Two other safeties saw weight gains as well with Ronnie Hickman gaining five pounds since the start of his first season and Kourt Williams putting on five pounds since the beginning of his senior season of high school.

Josh Proctor is the only safetyto lose weight, shedding three pounds since the start of last season.

Linebacker weight changes varied more than any other position with fourplayers gaining weight, twoplayers losing weight, and four players maintaining weight.

Craig Young had one of the biggest weight transformations on the roster, gaining 28 pounds as he continues his transformation from high school quarterback to Ohio State linebacker.

Cade Stover also had significant gains, putting on 20 pounds since last fall. Tommy Eichenberg and Tuf Borland were the other two weight-gainers, putting on three and two pounds respectively.

Justin Hilliard and Baron Browningwere the twolinebackers to lose weight.Browning who was the heaviest linebacker on the roster shed eight pounds while Hilliard lost four.

Ohio State's defensive ends collectively put on a bit of weight since last fall with Noah Potter leading the way, gaining 19 pounds since the start of his true freshman season.

Early enrollee Jacolbe Cowan has also bulked up a bit since the fall,adding13 pounds since the start of his senior season of high school.

Zach Harrison is the next biggest gainer among returning defensive ends as he's gained 10 pounds since his debut season.

Javontae Jean-Baptiste and Tyler Friday each gained five pounds since the start of their second seasons on campus while Jonathon Cooper and Tyreke Smith both held steady.

Ohio State's defensive tackles have added some mass since the beginning of last season with fourdifferent players gaining weight.

Jaden McKenzie leads the way as the biggest gainer among defensive ends, putting on 10 pounds since the start of his true freshman season.

Jerron Cage and Haskell Garrett each put on four pounds since last fall while Taron Vincent has added two.

Only Darrion Henry-Young and Antwuan Jackson lost weight since the start of last season, shedding four pounds each.

Baker Mayfield Looking to Lose Weight Before Next Season – Heavy.com

GettyBrowns quarterback Baker Mayfield.

Expect there to be less Baker Mayfield on the field next season for the Cleveland Browns at least in terms of the quarterbacks weight.

Mayfield is aiming to be slimmer and faster this year according to NFL.com insider Ian Rapoport, who reported on Wednesday that the former Heisman winner will be focused more on fitness and body makeup during the 2020 season. Rapoport reported that Mayfield bulked up last year, losing some of the quickness that had become a patented part of his game.

After garnering someMVP hype in the preseason, Mayfield finished the year with 3,827 yards, 22 touchdowns and 21 interceptions, ranking next-to-last in both passer rating (78.8) and completion percentage (59.4%) despite having both Odell Beckham and Jarvis Landry at his disposal.

It was a different year for me,Mayfield told reportersat the end of the season. Definitely didnt have it all figured out. A lot of learning lessons, life lessons for me. Im going to come back a different animal come spring time. I love this game. I play it because its hard to play, its hard to have success. Its the process you have to enjoy. The ups and downs. There was a lot of that this year.

Mayfield rushed 28 times last season for 141 yards and three touchdowns. During his college career, Mayfield used his legs quite a bit, racking up 1083 yards and 21 touchdowns.

Its not the first time Mayfields weight and fitness have come up this offseason. After a photo emerged of a shirtless Mayfield posing next to fellow NFLers Aaron Colvin, Alec Ogletree, Sterling Shepard and Saquon Barkley, the internet put Mayfield on blast, shaming the No. 1 overall pick in the 2018 draft for his dad bod.

Barkley, one of Mayfields good friends, came to his defense via TMZ.

Hes a quarterback, hes not supposed to be shredded, Barkley told the site. We in off-season, hes gonna have time to get his body right. He can throw the ball 80 yards. Thats the only thing that matters.

Mayfield sarcastically addressed the photo himself on the Pardon My Take Podcast.

You know what shape Im in right there? Vacation shape,Mayfield saidwith a laugh. Its bloating from travel. That was the first day Ill say that. I look like [expletive].

Theres no quarterback controversy right now in Cleveland, but the Browns are in the market for a veteran to backup Mayfield who can bring some knowledge into the quarterback room.

Rumored targets for the Browns have included Chase Daniel and Case Keenum, according to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports. Daniel has started three games the last two season for the Bears backing up Mitch Trubisky. He was 1-2 when forced into a starting role, tossing six touchdowns and four interceptions.

Keenum has a connection to new Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski from their time in Minnesota together in 2017. Keenum collected 3,547 yards, 22 touchdowns and seven interceptions that season and has played for the Broncos and Redskins since.

Adele impersonators reveal their fight to match the singers slim new look after her dramatic 7st weight l – The Sun

THEY dedicate their lives to mastering each detail of pop superstar Adele, from her voice to her moves and quips on stage to her sense of style off it.

Now the pressure is on for a host of tribute acts to follow the singers dramatic 7st weight loss.

19

19

These performers dont have a small army of trainers, nutritionists and chefs at their beck and call.

But they DO have all the motivation they need to shape up like their idol full name Adele Adkins and work towards her new Caribbean beach bod.

Mum-of-one Adeles abrupt slimming is said to be down to hours of intense reformer Pilates, a 1,000-calorie daily diet half the recommended for a woman and a fitness plan put together by celebrity trainer Joe Wicks.

The North London singer, 31, hasnt been shy about showing off her new figure.

19

19

Since losing the weight in the wake of her separation last year from her husband Simon Konecki, 45, she has dispensed with her trademark long dresses in favour of sporty, figure-hugging gear that shows off her hard work.

With her first album in five years set for release in September, the race is on for these five tribute Adeles to shape up.

Here, each reveals what Adele means to them...and how they plan to follow her lead once more.

Someone Like You

THEREs only one Adele Adkins but luckily theres plenty of Adele-a-likes to go round.

While the Tottenham warbler has gone to ground to write her new album (out in September) a small army of tribute acts have been entertaining thousands of fans and mopping up on the bookings.

From gigs in far flung Mumbai to tours of Canada these first class performers jet around the world singing Adeles chart topping tracks.

In 2015 a selection of the finest tribute acts, including Katie Markham in The Suns shoot, were lucky enough to meet an undercover Adele as part of BBC special Adele at the BBC fronted by Graham Norton.

Adele dressed as a tribute act called Jenny, complete with prosthetics, and surprised the other performers during a spoof audition later revealing herself as the real global superstar.

KATIE MARKHAM, 37, from Scunthorpe, Lincs, says she ended up impersonating Adele almost by accident in 2012.

She later shot to fame by appearing alongside the singer herself in a 2015 telly special, presented by Graham Norton, called Adele At The BBC. Katie says:

19

"The way Adele put it is that she wants to be healthy for herself and her family.

"She also said that her music is for ears, not for eyes. I couldnt agree more.

"Im loving her new 1950s style too.

"It looks like I am going to have to change up my wardrobe.

19

"Her losing the weight has given me a kick up the bum to move and do something for myself as well.

"I have relied on being an Adele tribute act for a long time but now she has lost the weight, it is giving me more of an incentive to do it too.

"I need to do it for myself and for my own career.

"Outside of Adele I perform as myself as well. I need to keep up my own image.

19

"It sounds like Adele has been exercising hard.

"Before, I had never heard of reformer Pilates, which Adele credits with transforming her figure.

"But now I would give it a go."

MARIA HERRIOTT, 42, a mum of four from Walthamstow, North East London, had never considered performing until her family suggested she impersonate the superstar. She says:

19

"Adele is where I want to be.

"I had a gastric band 12 years ago but due to complications I had it removed last April. Since then Ive gained 2st.

"Im ready to have a gastric bypass any moment now so I can lose it again. Adele is the goal for us big girls.

"To know shes been where we are, she knows how we feel and shes got where we want to be is the ultimate thin-spiration.

19

"Maintaining the weight loss has always been my problem. With the surgery it should be easier. Adele looks like shes winning at life.

"Shes never had the smile she has at the moment. I think she will carry on with this healthy lifestyle.

"Shes always been a bit older than her years with what she wears.

"But now shes lost all this weight, she is going to be really trendy.

19

"What I am slightly worried about is that there might be dance routines.

"Adele is collaborating with all these stars, so I think shes going to surprise a lot of us.

"Give me six to eight months and Ill be doing those dance routines with her and I cant wait."

JODIE EVANS, 38, from Corsham, Wilts, performed as Adele in India last year and juggles her act with a full-time job. She says:

19

"I love Adeles new look, absolutely love it.

"Regardless of what size she is, shes a massive inspiration to many people out there.

"I love the edgy look shes got at the minute and Im really interested to see where she goes with it.

"Her style is changing and shes getting a bit braver, rather than covering up in long, flowing dresses.

19

"She inspires me to think, If she can wear that, I can wear that.

"Her transformation is letting women know they can wear whatever they want and why not?

"Adele and I have got a few things in common.

"Her birthday is May 5 while mine is May 6. Im married to a guy called Mark Evans. Her dad is called Marc Evans. Its just little things.

19

"I completely understood why she took her break after her son Angelo was born in 2012. You need to have that one-on-one time with your children.

"When my last child came along, I took a break too.

"It can take a lot of planning to juggle performing with motherhood, but your children are your first priority."

CARDIFF-born Christina Rogers, 28, has been a tribute to Adele for four years. She says:

19

"I love that Adele isnt defined by the way she looks or the way she acts.

"She doesnt filter herself. She gives you what she is and thats what everyone has loved her for.

"Its the same with her weight loss. When I saw the photographs of her transformation, I probably had the same reaction as everyone else Woah!

"But anybody who is looking after themselves and their body, good for them.

19

"Obviously I thought about what that means for me.

"Im not going to put any pressure on myself because in this industry there are so many pressures. But its the motivation I need to get to the gym.

"Ive already noticed more booking enquiries coming in as shes in the media more and more.

"Im excited to hear the new album and where that takes me.

19

"Im also intrigued to see where her style goes because she always had that classic A-line, to-the-floor, sequinned dress, whereas now she might become a style icon in a different way.

"Maybe more high fashion than before.

"Most celebrities go through phases and I cant wait for the next chapter."

HELEN WARD JACKSON, 40, from Eastbourne in East Sussex, quit her job as a care worker to tour the world as Adele. She says:

19

"Adele looks absolutely incredible. It frustrates me people think shes too thin.

"Ive lost weight in the past my weight fluctuates, so I can relate to her and I respect what shes doing.

"Shes having a different way of life, shes gone through a divorce and wanted to come out stronger.

"Adele has inspired me to lose weight too.

19

"When I saw her losing weight previously in the past couple of years, Ive lost weight then put it back on. Life happens.

"But as a tribute act, I have to think, 'What look do people see when they think of Adele? Is it from her debut album 19?

"'Or later albums 21 or 25? Should I lose lots of weight then have a fat suit?'

"Im going on a diet and Im calling it the Adkins diet! Ive done the (low-carb) keto diet and its like the Atkins.

Clocking 10 000 steps daily alone will not prevent weight gain – Health24

If you own a fitness tracker, you might find yourself desperately marching around to help you reach your 10000 step-count for the day.

Somehow, in a decade of technology and wearable health trackers, we became obsessed with the so-called golden standard of 10000 steps a day to improve our health.

But if you are desperately trying to tally those steps without doing anything else, 10000 steps will not prevent weight gain, according to a new study from Brigham Young University.

According to a news release, researchers from the universitys Exercise Science Department, along with colleagues from the Nutrition, Dietetics and Food Science Department, studied 120 first-year students during their first six months of college as part of a step-counting experiment.

Exercise not enough

These students walked either 10000, 12500 or 15000 steps a day for six days a week for 24 weeks, while their caloric intake and weight was tracked by the researchers.

Researchers wanted to determine whether the exact number of daily steps made any difference when it came to regulating weight, especially in a college setting where weight gain is commonly observed during the first academic year.

Besides the increase in daily steps, participants in the study still gained weight around an average of 1.5kg over six weeks.

This lead the research to a conclusion: "Exercise alone is not always the most effective way to lose weight. If you track steps, it might have a benefit in increasing physical activity, but our study showed it won't translate into maintaining weight or preventing weight gain, said lead author Bruce Bailey, professor of exercise science at BYU.

Even minimal exercise has benefits

Even though weight wasnt affected by the steps, there are other emotional and health benefits, according to the study authors. They found, for example, that the students who clocked 12500 and 15000 steps every day were less sedentary than their peers.

"The biggest benefit of step recommendations is getting people out of a sedentary lifestyle," Bailey stated in the press release. "Even though it won't prevent weight gain on its own, more steps are always better for you."

5 reasons you are exercising and still not losing weight – Pulse Live Kenya

Weight loss is a journey and albeit not an easy one, we have seen great transformations in people. So there is still hope that you can fit into your favourite outfits and rock that crop top you have been dreaming about. But, you have to do it the right way and ensure you come up with a sustainable routine so that you dont lose the extra pounds and regain them soon after.

What if you have been exercising and still not seeing results? Then there must be something that you are not doing right. Some of the reasons as to why you could be working out and still not shedding some pounds include:

1. You reward your efforts with food

After doing a commendable job at the gym, you might feel tempted to reward yourself with some tasty food. If you have been giving in to these temptations, then thats where you are going wrong. You cant burn all those calories only to refuel your body with more of the same. It cancels all the effort.

2. Your sleeping schedule is off

If you are battling insomnia, you should look for a solution because it affects several functions of your body. When experts recommend sleeping between 7-9 hours every day, its because they know that your body needs it to function properly. Studies have found a close relationship between sleep deprivation and obesity.

3. You are not addressing your diet

Exercising is a great way to burn calories. However, no substantial weight is lost if you only exercise without observing your calorie intake. Keep track of what you are consuming so that you dont consume more calories than you are burning while exercising.

All you need to know about the keto diet and weight loss

4. You love your beer

Generally, alcohol is high in calories and it enhances weight gain. But if you really must drink, then you need to drink moderately and avoid consuming too much beer. Beer and wines are high in calories and you might thus want to stick to spirits instead.

5. You have been doing the same old tricks

If you started with 30 squats, you need to upgrade. Once the exercises become too easy for your body, you will hit the plateau and will see no change any more. The trick is to keep on doing more. If it feels so easy, try something harder.

Speed Keto diet boosts weight loss but experts warn there could be side effects – The Sun

ANYONE who has attempted the keto diet will tell you it's highly restrictive - which makes it tough to stick to.

But fans of the high-fat, low-carb regime will probably also say that that it's helped them to achieve great weight loss results.

1

Now there is a new, and even tougher version called Speed Keto - a combination of keto and intermittent fasting.

There's evidence to suggest that both of these diets work, however, experts have warned that the diet is unsustainable and potentially dangerous.

And they say that if you're totally new to dieting it's likely the sudden extreme shift will bring some unpleasant side effects.

The Speed Keto diet was devised by self-proclaimed lifestyle coach Harlan Kilstein in 2018.

Dr Kilstein, who has a doctorate in education - not nutrition or any other field of medicine, claims it solves some of the "pain points" of the original keto diet.

He came up with it after becoming personally interested in keto for his own weight loss.

According to his website, people get frustrated constantly counting calories and macronutrients - carbs, fats and protein.

They will also see early results in the first couple of weeks but may find their progress stalls after that as the body reaches ketosis.

So Speed Keto is supposed to simplify the dieting process and help people get through any weight loss plateaus or struggles that come with the original keto plan.

The diet is a combination of traditional keto and intermittent fasting.

Keto requires cutting out carbs so that they make up just 5-10 per cent of your intake.

Instead you increase the amount of fat you eat to between 60-70 per cent, leaving around 15-30 per cent for protein.

The idea is that by eating fewer carbs your body goes into a state of 'ketosis' -when the body burns its fat stores for fuel rather than carbohydrates, leading to weight loss.

Meanwhile, intermittent fasting (IF) involves alternating between various periods of fasting and eating.

One of the most popular methods is the 16:8, in which you fast for 16 hours and eat during the 8-hour period.

So for Speed Keto, the aim is to eat just one meal a day that fits into the high-fat low-carb requirement.

Dietitians aren't exactly quick to recommend 'fad' diets, such as keto or intermittent fasting.

So, with this new version on the scene it's hardly surprising that many are warning against it.

Tony Castillo, nutrition consultant for RSP Nutrition, told Health:I dont see any pros for this diet.

"First of all, a diet program focusing on high fat, moderate protein, and low carbs is typically unsustainable and can be challenging to follow long term.

He also said restricted eating in this way can be dangerous for those with a history of eating disorders.

But some say that while it's not a sustainable way of eating, it's likely it will produce positive weight loss results.

Hillary Cecere, registered dietitian at Eat Clean Bro, told Women's Health: "I think keto and 'Speed Keto' diets will result in weight loss.

"Any time food is restricted and a calorie deficit occurs, so will weight loss, and when your eating window is smaller, you are more likely to consume less calories."

However, she added: "This diet is unsustainable. Once it's no longer being utilised, weight gain will happen."

She said that in order to maintain weight loss, it's important to follow something that is sustainable in the long-term.

Registered dietitian, Lauren Harris-Pincus, told Health: This diet was developed by someone who is not an MD or dietitian to sell you something.

Combining keto with intermittent fasting is not a magical solution.

"It simply reduces your eating window so people tend to consume fewer calories in a day since you cannot snack continuously.

She added that the only way to lose weight is to create a calorie deficit, i.e. reduce your calorie intake and increase your exercise.
