What sets this spinach soup apart is that it is super easy to make and requires bare minimum ingredients and time to put it together. Make sure you wash spinach well beforehand.

Recipe of Spinach Soup:
1. In a pan, slightly saute garlic and onion in butter.
2. Add spinach and saute for a minute.
3. Add the spinach with one glass of stock, cream, salt and pepper and blend on high speed.
4. Blend for a minute, until you achieve the desired consistency. If it is too thick, add more veg stock in the blender and blend again.
5. Take the soup out of the blender, serve with a squeeze of lime and garnish with coriander leaves.

Green tea is one of the healthiest beverages on earth: Its full of flavonoids that can help reduce inflammation, aids in lowering bad cholesterol and can lessen your chances of heart attack or stroke, Harvard Medical School tells usall important factors to counteract the effects of the day-old cheese stick and half a sleeve of crackers you sometimes refer to as lunch. But does this mean you can drink green tea before bed and reap all its healthy benefits? The short answer: No. Well, not if you want to get a good nights sleep.
While theres three times more caffeine in one cup of coffee than there is in a mug of green tea (95 milligrams to about 30), this doesnt make green tea a bedtime drink. In fact, its something you should avoid drinking in the evening in the same way you wouldnt have a cup of caffeinated coffee an hour or two before bed.
Green tea before bed wouldnt be the best idea because it definitely does have caffeine in it,says nutritionistSarah Adler, authorof Simply Real Eating. Any amount is going to trigger your adrenals and hormones to be in a more awakened state. A cup or two earlier in the day or midday would be a better idea.
Wait, no! Green tea is perfectly fine to drink once or twice a day. You might want to consider restricting yourself to two cups if you have a history of kidney stones, however, because both green and black teas contain high levels of oxalates that could lead to the formation of more, according to the National Institutes of Health. Keep in mind, though, that this isnt super common (phew!), especially for those of us who arent susceptible to kidney stones.
Green tea is naturally loaded with polyphenols, which fight cancer, and it might even help you lose weight thanks to its fat-burning and metabolism-boosting abilities. Green tea can also help protect from Alzheimers, dementia and Parkinsons (diseases that have been directly linked to damaged neurons in the brain) via catechin, a compound that keeps the neurons in the brain from becoming damaged via accidents or head traumas and natural deterioration over time. Those catechins can also kill the bacteria in your mouth that cause bad breath and fight off common viruses like the flu (but this isnt an excuse to skip your flu shot!).
Green tea has high amounts of antioxidants too, Adler says. They help your system naturally detox, slow down the aging process and reduce inflammationwhich can heal injuries and distresses to the body.
Green tea is packed with the amino acid L-theanine, a powerful anti-anxiety and dopamine-boosting (think good mood vibes) compound, says Meg Riley, a certified sleep science coach at Amerisleep. So it can definitely help us chill outonstressful mornings (like when your kids spend 30 minutes fighting against your effort to get their coats on and you end up late for work).
The theanine in green tea reduces stress-related hormones like cortisol, Riley says. It also helps to relax neuron activity in the brain, and evidence shows that drinking green tea during the day can improve your sleep quality later that night. Riley adds, however, that the caffeine in green tea can still keep you up, so its important to stop drinking it at least two hours before you hit the hay.
Its true that green tea doesnt have enough caffeine to give you the jitters like some coffee drinkers experience, but that doesnt mean it doesnt have enough caffeine to keep you awake at night. Sipping some in the morning can give you an energy boost and even wake up your brain enough to perform better at work and carry out tasks that require more thought than tying your shoes, but all this also equates to a level of sharpness thats not conducive to shut-eye.
The caffeine in green tea can stimulate our alpha brain waves, which relates to an alert but calm feeling in the bodymuch differentfrom the shaky feeling some experience after drinking coffee, Adler says. She calls this balance between alertness and calm the best of both worlds, but says its best to luxuriate in it while combing over your morning emails and not as youre winding down before bed.
Decaffeinated green tea has only 2 milligrams of caffeine in itobviously not nearly enough to affect your sleepso its true that, on paper, this looks like a no-brainer. The problem here, however,is that in order for the tea to be stripped of its natural caffeine, it hasto go through a process that makes it becomeprocessedand, ineffect, muchless healthy.
Opting for decaf green tea may not give you as many of the health benefits as regular green tea because decaffeinating it removes some of the teas powerful antioxidants, Riley says. Darn.
Sincedecaf just doesnt live up toits all-natural sister, its best to stick to regular green tea and to steep it in the morning and early afternoon. And thats the tea.

Professor Robin Dunbar from the University of Oxford told The Guardian that at a psychological level, having friends just makes you happier. The kinds of things you do with other people are very good at triggering the endorphin system, which is part of the brains pain-management system.

The 2018 annual report on adolescents by the Australian Institute of Family Studies also found that the average resilience scores were higher for adolescents who had at least one good friend than for those who did not, says one of the reports authors, Dr Constantine Gasser.
And while human relationships may be the best form of social interaction, experts say the company of animals should also not be underestimated.
Animals are a particular kind of relationship: less stressful and demanding they just like you, says Dr Janette Young, lecturer in health promotion and policy at the University of South Australia.
Theyre a social lubricant, Dr Young says. Animals facilitate connectivity between people and help break down social barriers, especially during dog walks, when people talk to the dog but are actually engaging with the person.
As for social media, it appears that its positives (fostering connections and giving voice to the disenfranchised) may be slowly being overtaken by its negatives (such as cultivating feelings of inadequacy, encouraging addiction, exacerbating cyberbullying, providing easier access to psychologically dangerous content and a decreased attention span).
Social media use has also been linked to rising levels of anxiety and depression the more people use it.
But does it actually make us unhappy? It depends on who you ask, says Nicholas Carah, the University of Queenslands Associate Professor in the School of Communication and Arts.

Theres a lot of popular debate about this question. [Some argue] theres a connection between the rise of the smartphone and a bunch of [negative] changes in the lives of young people that perhaps in the long term mean we are less happy because we are less resilient.
Then [others] point to a much more nuanced story, where social media on its own doesnt make us more or less happy, rather it is the way [platforms] are used, what we use them for, he says.
Based on his own work (which focuses on how social media platforms are designed to colonise our attention in order to sell it to advertisers), Professor Carah is less forgiving: These platforms are not designed in the interests of users which means that they couldnt care less about what impact they have on users wellbeing.

Another thing we tend to think, often incorrectly, will make us happy is losing weight. In our image-obsessed society, the idea of weight loss has become synonymous with wellbeing, yet experts say there is little to no evidence that losing a small amount of weight such as 5kg will actually increase our happiness.
While there are no studies that directly measure happiness and weight loss, there are reviews that look at losing weight and quality of life, says Clare Collins, Professor in nutrition and dietetics at the University of Newcastle.
For example, research looking at overweight and obese adults has found that while weight loss is associated with a better physical quality of life, there was no difference in the mental quality of life.
Professor Collins says that weight loss only discernibly improves a sense of wellbeing when it is huge: For example, studies show that people whove had bariatric surgery see a much bigger improvement in their quality of life but there doesnt seem to be much evidence directly for evidence for small weight loss.
There is little to no evidence that losing a small amount of weight such as 5kg will actually increase our happiness.
What does seem to make us happier is eating better. A 2016 HILDA survey that looked at the food diaries of 12,000 Australians in 2007, 2009 and 2013 found that over that time period, increased fruit and vegetable consumption increased happiness, life satisfaction and wellbeing.
What this suggests is that losing weight may be too hard a thing to pin your happiness on, Professor Collins says. You will get more return on your investment improving your vegetable and fruit intake than just wanting to lose a bit of weight.
Humans have a peculiar propensity to wrongly predict what will make them happiest.
Despite research showing that materialists tend to be less happy and satisfied with their lives, our consumer society continually strives to reinforce that happiness is rooted in purchasing bigger, better things which requires earning more money.
We know that up to a point, earning money does make you happier before it tapers off and even recedes, says Australian social psychologist Dr Brock Bastian, author of The Other Side of Happiness. Additional income doesnt really add much to happiness.
That said, to judge how much money we need to be happy can also be subjective to each individual: It's the amount that lets you afford things you feel are necessary for your life," says Dr Bastian.
Yet population studies show that when it comes to money, a significant indicator of happiness is what you choose to spend it on, rather than how much you earn.

We know that experiences rather than things are more important for happiness, and using money to access enjoyable, valuable experiences is when having money becomes important to happiness, he says.
This is also echoed in other research, which found that despite people initially predicting experiences to be lower value for money than things, most changed their minds after the fact and realised that doing things rather than acquiring them actually made them happier.

Valentines Day- the holiday known for grand romantic gestures. Or as the internet has taught us- grand romantic failures.
Whether you bought your partner a bouquet of roses, or a box of chocolates, one thing is for certain, it was probably more of a romantic gesture than some of the gifts given by these online users.
One woman on Instagram shared a picture of the gift her partner got her, and lets just say it wasnt the most romantic gesture. @FinallyFoundMe posted a photo of the scale (Yep! Scale!) that she received from her significant other. Or as she now calls him, her insignificant other. It seems he has hinting for her to lose weight, but pretty sure we can all agree, if theres anything she needs to lose, its him.
Meanwhile, a Twitter user revealed the bouquet of daffodils she had received from her partner. Unfortunately, they were mostly dead. Which is ironically also what he ended up as after giving those flowers. At least she had some left-over flowers to leave at his funeral.
Sian Easterbrook on Twitter posted a photo of the Happy Valentines Day banner she bought at the supermarket chain Tesco in the UK. When she hung it up, she realised it actually spelled out Nappy Valentines Day. Lets just say, after the shock of seeing the sign, she regretted not wearing a nappy.
While these Valentines Day failures may seem incredibly tragic, lets just remember that its the effort that counts. Unless youre that guy who bought the scales, in which case, try harder dammit!

Mum loses the equivalent of another ‘person’ in weight and reverses her diabetes – Bristol Post
A mum-of-two who struggled with her weight since she was a teenager has lost an incredible 15 stone and reversed her diabetes.
Sally Diggle, 58, had battled with her weight from the young age of 10, when she was taken to a dietician.
But the weight kept piling on and at her heaviest Sally weighed 28 stone, leaving her facing a host of health issues and unable to even put her own socks on.
Over the years Sally had tried to lose weight at various slimming clubs and on her own.
She was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2004 and at that point weighed 25 stone.
Following the diagnosis she continued to gain weight until she reached 28 stone the following year.
Her GP then suggested she undergo a gastric bypass operation and in 2005 she had the procedure.
By 2008, Sally had got down to 16 stone.
But the weight slowly started to creep back on.
Following the operation I was not given any nutritional advice or support and advice on what food to choose," said Sally.
So I carried on eating what I wanted.
I got complacent as I was feeling better.
I like chocolate and toast and butter and chips.
Sweet stuff such as puddings was my real weakness. Sure enough the weight started to creep back on again.
Sally then had to deal with her husband Alan having a stroke in 2010. She cared for him at their Withywood home until he died in 2015.
As I was caring and focusing on him, I didnt think about myself, she said.
Alan moved into a nursing home for the last three months of his life.
Then I ate for comfort, said Sally.
After Alans death, Sally visited her GP where tests revealed she was type two diabetic and had a fatty liver.
It was then, weighing more than 22 stone, she decided to take action and join WW (Weight Watchers).
After about four or five months by blood sugar levels had come down and my diabetes had reversed, she said.
I went to hospital and had a liver biopsy which showed I had a fatty liver.
By the time I went back again I had lost seven stone and a scan showed my liver had gone back to normal and now they just keep an eye on me.
Once my health was at risk it was like the choice about losing weight had been made for me and it was a lot easier.
So far, Sally has lost nine stone and six pounds and has a further eight pounds to go to hit her target.
She currently weighs 12st 12lbs.
Its incredible to think that from my heaviest point I have now lost nearly 15 stone thats more than the equivalent of a whole person, she said.
Sally has swapped her breakfast of toast with lots of butter for fruit. Dinner is now scrambled egg rather than a toastie and a dinner of a jacket potato loaded with butter has been replaced by vegetables and gravy.
The funny thing is I still often feel the size I was before, she said.
I dont have a full length mirror in my house.
But the other day I went to my mums house and she has one in the hallway.
I walked past it and caught a glance of myself and thought, whos that?
Not being so heavy means that my stomach no longer rubs on the steering wheel, I can cross my legs and I can put on my own socks.
Sally is now in size 16/18 clothes and swims five times a week.
Losing the weight has done amazing things for me health wise and its much easier for me to move around.
Its not just my eating habits which have changed completely, my mindset has altered too.
I realised that if I didnt change things, I would die. It sounds really brutal but that is the harsh reality of my situation back then. WW saved my life
If I can do it, anyone can.
Jo Ricketts, the Bristol WW Coach, said: "When Sally came through the door, I knew I could help her.
Sally is such a lovely woman and she has really come out of her shell since she first joined.
Its great losing weight but its all about what you gain in terms of self-confidence and being able to do things again that youd given up on.

According to a new study published in the journal Obesity, those who were most successful at losing weightand keeping it offhad a more positive outlook.
Weight loss maintainers did not beat themselves up for regaining a few pounds or feel negative about themselves or the behaviors that had led to being overweight or obese.
Instead, weight loss maintainers practiced self-kindness and mindfulness, which helped them understand that days of overeating and low activity do happen, and you can get back on track the next day.
It should go without saying that no cyclist needs to lose weight, and cyclists indeed come in all shapes and sizes. But the reality is that many people get into cycling to lose weight, which is a challenging process, and those who are successful face an even harder road ahead: keeping the pounds off.
While theres no single strategy that works best for everyone, new research highlights certain tactics that many weight loss maintainers have in common, providing at least a roadmap for the maintenance journey.
Published in the journal Obesity, the study surveyed almost 5,000 members of WWformerly known as Weight Watcherswho lost an average of 50 pounds and didnt regain the weight for at least three years. Researchers looked at 54 behaviors related to weight management, encompassing strategies related to goal-setting, attitudes, food tracking, and type of food consumed.
In terms of habits around food, the most prevalent behaviors of the weight loss maintainers were keeping healthy, lower-calorie food accessible, setting daily consumption goals, recording actual food consumed, and continuing to measure or weigh foods.
Also important for those who kept the weight off for years is an emphasis on outlook. These participants focus on remaining positive and often think about past successes, said lead study author Suzanne Phelan, Ph.D., a kinesiology and public health professor at California Polytechnic State University.

Focus on building these skills first, she told Runners World. The more these skills are practiced, the more they become habitual.
And while there are often unhealthy temptations and distractions all around us, putting consistent habits in place can counteract this environment, Phelan added.

What the weight loss maintainers did not do was beat themselves up for regaining a few pounds or feel negative about themselves or the behaviors that had led to being overweight or obese.
Practicing self-kindness and mindfulness are connected to being self-aware, and to understanding that eating and activity are part of a process, Phelan said. There will be days of excess eating and low activity. How people respond to these days makes a difference.
Preventing weight regain isnt important just for a sense of emotional wellbeing.
