No Diet and No Exercise: Follow THESE ways and lose weight smartly – PINKVILLA
Want to lose weight but don't want to work out and follow fad diets? Then you are at the right place as we have some weight loss hacks for you.
Coronavirus led lockdown has increased our hunger pangs and made us lazier. We hardly move around or exercise and eat more thanks to mindless munching throughout the day. The byproduct of this new routine is more fats. For the unversed, we eat food for energy and when we eat more and do not burn the excess then the same gets stored as fats and of course, we are not proud of those flabby arms and love handles. If you are reading this, I am assuming you want to lose extra fats.
Do you want to lose weight but too bored to follow diet and exercise? This seems unlikely but what if I tell you that there are some smart ways that may help you to shed those extra pounds. I can see that you are already smiling and can't wait to know the tricks. Also, I would like to tell that you can burn extra fat as you sleep. Isn't that a win-win situation, no diet fads to follow, no exercise regime and burn fats while you sleep. Sure, this may sound like a dream, but you have to incorporate some things to make it a reality. Read on find out.
Note: If you want to achieve weight loss goal faster then you have to include some physical activity or HIIT/resistance training and eat healthily and in moderation.
1. Smartly boost metabolism with the thyroid glandThere are some blessed souls who can eat anything and get away with it as they have a great metabolism. But you should not worry as you can also boost metabolism in smart way. The thyroid gland handles our metabolism in an indirect way. Include certain foods for this fat-burning machine. Foods rich in iodine, zinc, selenium will help to function this gland properly.
2. Burn calories with cold water and temperatureA 10 to 30% of metabolic boost comes from water, especially cold water. Coldwater forces our body to burn more calories since it has to heat up the water to get in the belly. So, increase your resting metabolism with 6-8 cups of water a day. Cold showers also help to burn some fats by speeding metabolism. If the water is below 21-degree Celcius then 90% metabolism can bolster up. Lower the temperature of shower water, better will be the metabolism. Lower room temperature will also do the same trick. Your body will burn more calories to stay warm.
3. SleepDid you know sleeping for 8 hours can help you to get rid of 300 calories? But if you don't get enough sleep your body needs more energy and then you will look for it in food. And this will create a hormonal imbalance and more hunger hormones will be created.
4. Plain black coffeeInstead of coffee with whipped cream and full-fat milk, you should ideally go for black coffee. As the same bolster our metabolism and keeps burning fat as we rest. As per the National Institute of Health, coffee increases 29% of fat burning in slimmer people and 10% in overweight people.
5. Switch to coconut oilIt is very difficult to give up on tasty foods and that's why there is a hack for all the weight watchers. You can switch your cooking oil to coconut oil for better health and weight loss. As per research, if you include 2 tbsp of coconut oil in your breakfast then you will eat lesser during lunch as it is a natural appetite suppressant. The oil also gets absorbed faster and improves metabolism.
6. Include chillies in your dietInclude spicy food in your diet as the capsaicin present in chillies and jalapenos helps to give more kick to metabolism if it's slow. It will also keep you full for longer.
7. Apple cider vinegarPeople who ate ACV every day had 200 calories lesser every day as they feel less hungry. So, make sure to add them to your diet.
8. Eat more proteins and fiberOur body burns more calories to process proteins. For example, if you eat 200 grams of chicken breast (330 calories) you will burn 99 calories just by digesting it. On the other hand, fiber prevents the body from absorbing excess fats and you feel fuller for a long time after having fibrous foods.

4 Surprising Benefits of Losing Weight After 50 – LIVESTRONG.COM
Although losing weight at any age has considerable health benefits, it turns out that dropping a few pounds after age 50 might be especially good for you.
Losing weight after 50 is doable, and it comes with some big health perks.

Hormonal and metabolic changes that commonly take place after 50 make it easier to pack on weight, Kristine Gedroic, MD, medical director of the Gedroic Medical Institute, tells LIVESTRONG.com. But while weight gain after 50 might be common, it can also be dangerous: Putting on pounds at this age, Dr. Gedroic says, increases the risk of diseases like stroke and diabetes.
But while weight gain might be risky, weight loss is possible and worth it if your weight has crept into the unhealthy range. Here are a few of the most notable benefits.
Did you know that keeping a food diary is one of the most effective ways to manage your weight? Download the MyPlate app to easily track calories, stay focused and achieve your goals!
Obesity at 50 was associated with an increased risk of dementia in a study published February 2018 in the journal Alzheimer's & Dementia (although, curiously, obesity at 60 or 70 was not).
While researchers aren't clear exactly why this is, Dr. Gedroic says the gut microbiome, which can become imbalanced as we age, might be a potential link.
"Research has shown that we have a natural tendency toward an imbalanced gut, including more bad bacteria in our gut, as we grow older," she says. "An imbalance in the gut microbiome can affect brain health and has even been tied to neurodegenerative disease."
Indeed, one January 2019 study published in Scientific Reports analyzed the fecal samples of participants in a memory care clinic and found that the samples that came from patients with dementia had a higher prevalence of bad bacteria.
Eating more fruits, vegetables and high-fiber foods can contribute to weight loss, balance the gut, and lead to a healthier brain in the process, Dr. Gedroic says.
Hot flashes, which occur as a side effect of menopause and are most common in women over 50, are notoriously uncomfortable and carrying extra weight can make them even more so.
"Hormones like estrogen are stored in fat tissue, so it makes sense that the more fat a woman has, the more estrogen in her body and the more pronounced her menopausal symptoms can become," Dr. Gedroic says.
In fact, one study from the December 2017 issue of BMC Women's Health found that women with obesity were "significantly" more likely to have moderate to severe menopausal symptoms as well as have them more often, including hot flashes.
Dropping to a healthy weight can help ease joint pain.

Osteoarthritis, or OA, is one of the most common side effects of aging, according to the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.
With OA, the cartilage that cushions and protects the bones wears down over time, causing the bones to rub together and joints to become swollen, stiff and painful. Carrying extra weight exacerbates osteoarthritis, causing more pressure on the joint and, often, more pain.
Arthritis and damaged cartilage aren't conditions that can be reversed. But, according to the Cleveland Clinic, losing weight can put less pressure on the joints and reduce symptoms, making it easier and less painful to walk around.
Cancers that are hormone-dependent can show up in women over 50 due to weight gain since hormones like estrogen are stored in fat, Dr. Gedroic says.
"The more fat you're carrying, the higher your hormone levels," she says. "This is why obesity in women has been linked to a higher risk of hormone-receptor-positive breast cancer, and why women who lose weight particularly after the age of 50 dramatically reduce their risk of the disease."
Not surprisingly, a study published December 2019 in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute found that women who lost weight in their 50s had a lower risk of breast cancer than women whose weight stayed the same even if the women who lost weight ended up gaining some of it back.
What's also important to note, Dr. Gedroic says, is that obesity is also associated with a poorly functioning liver. The liver is critical to filtering out harmful chemicals like environmental pollutants and cancer-causing toxins. With cancer rates already higher due to age, having a poorly functioning liver due to obesity "increases the risk of many diseases, including cancer," she says.

Becoming a father inspired this Richmond man to undertake a 100-pound weight-loss journey – Houston Chronicle
Becoming a father was all it took for Erik Fuentes to make a change.
Before that, weight gain had not affected his self-esteem. It just kind of escalated, Fuentes said. I was sedentary. I wasnt active anymore.
Fuentes worked a lot, traveled for his job and frequently ate out. At his peak, he weighed 315 pounds. He wore size 46 pants and a triple-extra-large shirt.
But I was never body conscious or had self-confidence issues, he said. I never thought I needed to lose weight to look better. My catalyst was finding out we were pregnant.
Growing up, Fuentes enjoyed long walks in the woods with his father, going backpacking on outdoor adventures.
Now we were going to have a child, and I wanted to be able to do the same things with my kid, he said. But I knew I couldnt do it at that size. At the time, I was getting out of breath just tying my shoes.
Fuentes did not want his weight to be a limiting factor in what he could do as a father. At the same time, he wanted to do something with his own life that could inspire his child.
I wanted him to think that he can touch the top of the world, Fuentes said. I want to be there to help him along the way. I want to inspire my kids and show them I can do anything.
Because if he can do it, so can his children.
He decided to start running, a hobby his wife, Stephanie, already enjoyed Fuentes proposed to her in Cinderellas Castle, when she was competing in the Walt Disney World half-marathon.
She helped me start running, but she was much faster than me, Fuentes said. Im a competitive person; I didnt like that at all.
He pushed himself to build up his speed and make healthier choices. At the same time, he began modifying his portion sizes.
Diets dont really work for me, he said. I decided to just make better choices.
Fuentes would still go out for pizza but would limit himself to a couple of slices. He could still have a burger but would eat only half. He eliminated soda, opting for water instead.
He switched breakfast tacos for yogurt or oatmeal and added vegetables to his dinners. It was a lot of trial and error and a lot of research, he said.
Then he met some neighbors who invited him to join them for bike rides. I vividly remember my first 10-mile ride, he said. I was so exhausted that I just collapsed in my living room.
That competitive mindset, however, kicked in. Fuentes was determined to try it again. That 10-mile ride became a 12-mile ride and then a 15, he said. I was running and cycling. I started to see my weight fall.
Before long, a friend asked Fuentes to join him for a triathlon. I was like, Sure Whats a triathlon? Fuentes recalled with a laugh. He told me, You just have to learn to swim.
Fuentes went online to learn techniques, then jumped into his neighborhood pool and started swimming laps. In 2015, he competed in his first sprint triathlon, a short-distance competition that usually consists of a 5k run, 20k bike ride and 750-meter swim.
At the time, Fuentes weighed about 290 pounds. It was the hardest thing I had ever done in my life, he said. But crossing that finish line was epic.
Fuentes was hooked. He joined the Hot Mess Triathlon Club, and signed up for another sprint triathlon and then doubled the distance for an Olympic triathlon a 1.5k swim, a 24.8-mile bike ride and a 6.2-mile run.
In 2016, he competed in the Half Ironman in Galveston; the following year, he completed the full Ironman in Kentucky.
In just two years, he had lost almost 120 pounds, weighing in at 197 pounds. I literally trained my butt off, Fuentes said. It was all a lifestyle change and healthy eating.
Fuentes has now competed in four Half Ironman Triathlons. He was supposed to compete this year in the Galveston Half Ironman, but it was postponed until next November because of the coronavirus. Next year, he plans to compete in the full Ironman in The Woodlands.
Fuentes continues to set and achieve goals. He placed third in a race and stood on the podium with his award. He also returned to and halved his time from his first race, and competed in the Houston half-marathon in 1 hour and 47 minutes.
Competition gives me drive and keeps me going, he said.
In addition, Fuentes hosts an extreme mission trip at his church, where he takes a team into the Himalayas. We put on a pack and hike for seven days to just build relationships, work with the teams out there and share the Gospel, he said. Im able to do that because I lost weight.
He also became a run-club coach for Life Time Sugar Land, after becoming friends with the health clubs run coordinator, Megan Stevens, who also serves as an endurance coach at Mind Right Endurance. The two connected on a bike ride.
We just clicked right away, Stevens said.
She found his commitment to cycling commendable. He just kept showing up, Stevens said. He had this passion and drive Id never seen before.
They trained together for the full Ironman in Kentucky, and later Stevens brought him onto her team at Life Time. I wanted to hire him because he has a big heart, she said.
Fuentes saw it as his opportunity to continue to help others with fitness. I make run plans for them and use all the stuff I learned from my own journey, he said. Its an opportunity for me to help inspire more people. I want to help them reach their goals.
Stevens said that Fuentes has a unique know-how. People look at him, knowing nothing about his story, and think its impossible to push those speeds, she said. Hes like, This is where I was, and this is how I got here. Its unbelievable, and everyone just loves him.
Fuentes said he enjoys sharing with others his techniques for getting in shape. I know what its like to try to run at 300 pounds, he said. I know what its like to roll out of bed with zero energy and zero motivation. I know what its like and what it takes to overcome that.
He tells those interested in weight loss that taking it slow is key. Instead of worrying about pace on a route, he recommends simply putting one foot in front of the other.
Its all about consistency, he said. The more consistent you are, the more your body will learn. Then, you are able to start achieving your goals.
Fuentes also suggests finding motivation outside oneself. For me, it was my kids, he said. Its just a matter of finding something bigger than yourself to motivate you.
Fuentes is now the father of two 5-year-old son Reid and 2-year-old daughter Reilyn. He can outpace his wife and continues to train seven days a week.
He loves to see his children being active. All that sacrifice I went through, all of that pain, Im seeing it pay off in my kids, he said. They want to run and to play. Theyre so energetic. Theres no way I would have been able to keep up with them before. I have a hard time even now and Im an endurance athlete.

Quarantine weight gain and why you shouldn’t worry about it – TODAY
With quarantine baking and comfort eating on the rise, and with gyms and fitness studios still mostly closed due to the coronavirus crisis, its no wonder that worries about the so-called "quarantine 15" (think: "freshman 15") are surfacing.
Weight concerns are deeply rooted in our culture, but the truth is, you have a lot to worry about right now, from staying healthy and homeschooling your kids to finances and shopping for groceries. Worrying about gaining a few pounds during a pandemic only adds to your stress. Heres why you should stress less about quarantine weight gain.
Even if you have a solid grocery game plan in place, pictures of empty shelves and reports of hard-to-come-by delivery spots tell a story: You might not be able to get all the fresh, frozen and canned produce or other ingredients you usually buy to create well-balanced meals. This is an unprecedented time and it calls for a lot of compassion and grace. Be proud of yourself that youre doing the best you can.
Trending stories, celebrity news and all the best of TODAY.
Dont sweat it if youre not doing hard core HIIT workouts in your living room. The reality is that exercise isnt that helpful when it comes to losing weight. Studies suggest that when you participate in a sweat session, you unknowingly compensate for the extra work by either eating a little more (because youre hungrier) or moving a little less (because your body worked hard enough) throughout the day. Plus, even if you go out for a 30-minute run, the average woman burns about 260 calories not that much more than the typical protein bar that you might snack on afterward. Exercise has far-reaching health benefits, but dont expect exercise alone to nudge the scale much.
If you listen, your body will tell you when its hungry, when its thirsty, when your mind needs some entertainment, when your nerves need calming and when you need sleep. The trouble is that we often ignore these signals. If you open up the lines of communication, you might discover that as your activity levels slow down, so does your appetite, or you might find that an emotional need is driving your hunger, in which case, you might be better served by turning to a non-food alternative.
In one study, monitoring food intake was linked with an increase in stress levels and cutting calories was linked with an increase in the stress hormone, cortisol. While this may not be true for everyone, its good evidence that worrying about your weight can make you more miserable during an already difficult time.
News of the coronavirus reminds us daily that those who are most vulnerable include people with chronic conditions, like diabetes and heart disease, that are related to diet and lifestyle factors. So while you shouldnt worry about your weight, its still a good idea to live as healthfully as possible. Here are some ways you can do that.

Body
Ive been trucking along, or trying, with this massive spine problem Im having. I want to take a minute to thank everyone that sent me emails after last weeks column and my appointment with a neurosurgeon in Oklahoma City.
What I can tell you is I have whats called degenerative spine disease. I will be having steroid injections directly into my spine and surgery will follow that.
Things have been very quiet here at the newspaper, just like many businesses in Ponca City. This pandemic has almost crippled the newspaper industry. The Ponca City News is no exception.
But back to eating healthy. I havent lost over 100 pounds by eating all of those tasty carb foods. I lost my weight by keeping things extremely simple and eating fresh meats, salads and vegetables ... and drinking tons of water. When people email me thats the first thing I tell them. If you want to lose weight the low-carb route you have to change your way of thinking. You basically eat fat to lose fat. Where fat was once the enemy in a low-fat diet, it is your friend when lowcarbing. Fat is what makes you stay full and certainly what makes you lose weight.
Something you need to keep in mind, you did not gain weight overnight, and you certainly are not going to lose it overnight. It took me almost 18 months to lose my 100 pounds.
I love spaghetti squash. I love using it to make spaghetti and definitely prefer it over zoodles (zucchini noodles). This recipe incorporates three different sauces so you can have spaghetti all week long.
Heres how to cook spaghetti squash:
1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F. Cut spaghetti squash in half lengthwise. Use a spoon to remove the seeds. Drizzle with olive oil and season with salt and pepper.
2. Place cut side down in a roasting pan. Bake for 35-40 minutes. Let cool for 5-10 minutes.
3. Using a fork, scrape around the edges of the squash to shred your cnoodles.

Piling on the pounds in lockdown? I’ve lost 21 lbs in five weeks – here’s how I did it – Telegraph.co.uk
When lockdown came into place I realised I had two choices: either I could use this as a fresh start away from my boozy social life, or I could sit around and gain weight even faster than I was before.
On my wedding day I was 10 and a half stone. But since my second pregnancy it steadily crept up until I was 14 stone and 8 lbs. That extra four stone had taken my BMI from the middle of the healthy category and into obese, and I was out of puff running around after my two sons.
The weight had come on through my hectic social life. Every Friday and Saturday Id drink with friends, as well as a couple of days during the week. The next day I would feel a bit worse for wear and would eat whatever I felt like.
With my diary wiped clear by lockdown, I thought that this would be the perfect time to lose weight. I was also motivated by reports of how the people most affected by coronavirus are overweight, particularly as my husband has type one diabetes so is more vulnerable to the disease.
I embarked on the 1:1 Diet to shift the pounds, a meal replacement programme made by the Cambridge Weight Plan. The company delivers your food to you: a nutritionally complete range of powders, bars and dried meals. Im a very all-or-nothing person, so find it easier for living on a rigid plan of 800 calories a day than spending all day thinking about what I can or cant have.

Wondering How Long It’ll Take to See Results From Working Out? We Asked 3 Experts – Yahoo News UK
Working out is great for our physical health - strength training and cardio, for example, can help improve your metabolic rate - as well as our mental health. HIIT is effective for burning fat, and if you're focused on booty gains, sprints and inclines on the treadmill are your best friends. But how soon after you start working out will you start to see results?
We want to preface this by saying that everyone's fitness or weight-loss journey is different, and everyone's body is different. So no two people's results will be the same. That being said, we spoke to three experts on what to expect results-wise from exercise depending on your goals - because everyone's goals are inevitably different, too - and we broke it down for you right here.
NASM-certified personal trainer Guychard Codio, cofounder of New York City Personal Training, told POPSUGAR that first, you can't work out and eat in a caloric surplus and expect to lose weight; you have to burn more calories than you take in (learn more about eating in a caloric deficit here). Healthy eating habits, he said, have to be an integral part of your workout routine. In terms of losing weight through exercise, he said people can start seeing results in two to three weeks. But, he said, if you want to kept the weight off, you'll need a routine that progresses slowly and steadily instead of one where you're going all out.
For example, trying to lose 20 pounds in a month isn't a realistic goal, he said, which is what he sees some people do before weddings and some professional athletes like boxers or bodybuilders do before competitions. If you have more intense parts of your workout and diet plan where you cut calories from 2,500 to 1,200 for two months but want to maintain your weight-loss process, you should gradually bring those calories back up and increase your exercise routine as you do that, he explained. Slow and steady wins the race. (Just check out some of our POPSUGAR weight-loss success stories and you'll see proof.)
Ashley Kelly, NASM-certified personal trainer for Bach, told POPSUGAR she puts her clients through a six-week program if their goal is to lose weight through exercise, with three weeks of introductory training to get them used to an elevated heart rate, one lighter week, and two higher-intensity strength-training weeks. She'll usually do a body fat test before and after the program to see their progress.

How Much Do I Have to Work Out to Lose Weight?
Ashleigh Kast, NASM-certified trainer at Performix House and Ladder coach, gave POPSUGAR a scenario in which people focus on exercise alone to lose weight (and by losing weight, she means losing fat). "If you're trying to lose fat by working out, you're going to need to establish a caloric deficit through working out alone," she explained, but she stressed that "the amount of working out you need to do in a week without addressing food to maintain that caloric deficit can be very stressful."
Eating in a caloric deficit and exercising is what's recommended for weight loss because you'd have to burn 500 calories per day in your workouts for seven days just to lose a pound a week, which isn't a superrealistic goal. Plus, it's not recommended that you work out every day. And "in some cases, where calories are still very high, it's simply not enough to create the necessary deficit," Kast said.
All the trainers we spoke to said they ultimately couldn't give a definitive answer for weight-loss results since it depends on a person's individual goals, body type, weight, age, and other factors. In general, though, they all agreed that, for healthy weight loss, it will take at least a few weeks to really see results and that an aggressive approach in a short amount of time isn't something you can sustain. You can healthily lose half a pound to two pounds a week, Jim White, owner of Jim White Fitness and Nutrition Studios and ACSM-certified personal trainer, told POPSUGAR in a previous interview. So after five weeks, you may see a loss of up to 10 pounds.
Kast said that, when completing a bodybuilding or strength-training cycle of 10 to 12 weeks with at least three lifting days per week, it's not uncommon to see a muscle gain of five to seven pounds. Codio said it's going to be easier for someone who already has some muscle to add to that muscle. For this person, it normally takes about two weeks for them to see results. For someone who hasn't worked out before, it may take up to two months - and this also, he noted, varies depending on how much muscle you're trying to put on.
Story continues
Similarly to what she said about seeing weight-loss results in six weeks - which she named as a general timeline for her clients - Kelly said, in her opinion, you can start to see muscle changes in six weeks. This is a bit easier to do than lose weight since most people can just focus on heavy lifting, she explained. Eating in a caloric deficit isn't important; you actually need to be eating enough carbs and protein to help repair muscles. Kast further noted that people who weight train and don't address nutrition will have a harder time achieving and sustaining results. (If you're interested in the proper macros you may need to gain muscle, check out our guide on that.)

Beachbody Weight-Loss Transformations
The more muscle you have, the easier it is for your body to lose fat and burn calories throughout the day, Codio said. In terms of losing fat, muscle will help with that, so if your goal is to lose weight by working out, gaining muscle to some capacity is part of the process. Kelly tells her clients to focus on the way their bodies look - definition in their arms and legs, for example - and feel progress-wise as opposed to the number on the scale. "If you try to go on the scale while you're developing muscle mass, you might see either no change in the weight, or you might see that your pounds go up. So, see how you feel in your clothes and see how you feel in the mirror," she advised.
Whether your goal is to lose weight or gain muscle through exercise, Kast said it's most realistic for people to work out three to four times per week (don't forget about rest days!) with strength training and high-intensity cardio and an emphasis on nutrition, especially monitoring and managing calories to find out what works for you. You also have to manage stress and get plenty of sleep. As with making a change in any aspect of your life, Kelly noted, "if you're consistently doing something and wait at least 21 to 42 days, then you will see changes." What were you weight loss goals at the beginning of the year? Have you met your weight loss goals? Are you moving in the right direction? Is it hard to stay on track?
Losing "stubborn" fat is hard and as you get older - it just gets harder and harder. You might go to the gym five days a week, sweat on the treadmill for an hour, and see maybe a pound or two drop in a month. Is that really worth your time? Or... imagine going to a medical facility, laying down, spending 25 minutes relaxing, then getting up and finding out you've lost two inches around your waist. Which do you prefer? What if you could keep doing that and losing more and more fat until you looked like you did years ago? If you have any interest in this and how it works when it comes to inch loss, you should stop what you're doing and call the office for an appointment immediately. This new treatment technology - now available in Tucson - uses a special light therapy to trick your mitochondria (in your fat cells) to release their fat content. ULTRASLIM is now cleared for prescription use in the United States as the only noninvasive treatment for immediate fat removal without dieting, exercise, or pills. This treatment is safe and painless! If you eat better, drink plenty of water, stay away from sugars, and carbohydrates, this can lead to permanent fat loss without surgery. Here's a heads up. If you have tried liposuction in the past - you know that when you"regain the weight" it goes to different places-making your body look distorted and then unfortunately, you're back to where you started, only worse. With this technology we don't destroy your fat cells. What we do is we simply drain the contents of the fat cells so you lose the inches and look good again.
