How to Lose Weight Around the Waistline? Healthy Ways to Prevent Lockdown Weight and Keep it Off! – LatestLY

Belly fat (Photo credits: Pixabay)

There is only one viable way to stop the rise of COVID-19 cases. It is social distancing which can only be achieved with a strict lockdown. While many of us started the quarantine or the self-isolation period with good intentions, boredom, irritability, and a general sense of gloominess have begun to hit a lot of us. But there is one other side effect of the lockdown, and it is weight gain. It is impossible to escape the memes of lockdown weight on social media. Here's all you need to know about lockdown weight and how to lose it.

All the stress, anxiety and irritability are causing a lot of us to turn to comfort eating. As the weeks go by, we tend to give in more into mindless eating and drinking. You are now only a few steps away from the kitchen, and when things do not go right at work, a 3 pm KitKat or a Cadbury seems even more necessary. Plus, when we are chilling on the couch all day, we are not walking or moving around too much, we are not even burning the calories we are eating.Did the Buttons of Your Jeans Start to Social Distance From One Another? Heres How Stress Gives You that Belly Fat During COVID-19 Lockdown.

The first step to lose or prevent lockdown weight is to change your relationship with food. Have a proper eating schedule to prevent your meals from merging into one. Designate breaks for snacks, the same way you would do for meetings and calls at the office. This will help avoid mindless snacking throughout the day. Eat protein-rich snacks and meals to keep yourself full and satiated throughout the day. Also, do not resort to your refined flour biscuits and cookies when hungry.

Drinking a lot of water can promote proper digestion and prevent you from getting bloated. But downing two glasses of water glasses before meals can make you feel fuller preventing you from overeating.Does Drinking Milk Everyday Cause Weight Gain? All That You Should Know About The Calcium Rich Fluid.

Water may not hit the same spot as a bottle of Coke, but getting rid of liquid sugar in your diet can drastically reduce your caloric intake without you really having to change anything about your food a great deal when you think about it!

Performing just a set of crunches will not give you a six-pack ab. The only way to see real changes in your body is to stick to a fitness programme and practice it regularly. So whether it is yoga or Pilates, be consistent with your practice.

Alternating between periods of high-intensity exercises like burpees and squat jumps and short recovery periods, you will be able to burn body fat more efficiently.Work Out at Home: With Gyms Shut Amid Coronavirus Outbreak, Here Are Five Easy Exercises to Keep Fit.

In the end, make sleep a priority. When you do not sleep enough, the hormones that moderate your appetite goes out of whack, making you eat way more than your body needs. Establish a consistent bedtime to keep your appetite hormones in check.

Elaine Crowley feels a million times better as she reveals reason behind weight loss – Extra.ie

Elaine Crowley has admitted she feels a million times better following her weight loss.

The host has been open about her weight in the past and her ambition to shift a few pounds.

Elaine, 42, revealed she has struggled with her weight since she was a teen and explained why it was so difficult.

Elaine had appeared on RTE Ones 2016 season of Celebrity Operation Transformation in which she and a handful of famous faces, including James Patrice and Katherine Lynch, took on expert advice to lose weight.

She had put on two stone before the show and lost weight in the eight weeks the show ran, however she put it all back on once normal life resumed.

Elaine told the RTE Guide that the reason behind her recent weight loss is down to hormones.

The TV star explained: I got my hormones fixed, that was it. Its been a couple of years. My hormones had gone a bit wonky because I went into peri-menopause quite young and I had PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome) as well.

I was piling on weight and I couldnt understand why. I was always off on these boot camps and health retreats.

So I got my hormone levels fix and I feel a million times better.

Elaine wished she had learned of the problem sooner, saying: I had no idea I had PCOS and I cant believe its taken until my 40s to get everything sorted.

If I had known it earlier in my teenage years, Id say I wouldnt have had a lot of the problems that manifested but you cant be pissed off about that.

Ill never be Twiggy; Ill always have some junk in the trunk.

Elaine, like many of her Virgin Media TV colleagues, is still entertaining the nation as she hosts her daytime show.

While her guests appear via video link she is holding down the fort at the studio.

Elaine has been keeping her followers updated about the show on her social media, which she took some time away from recently.

Anne Hegerty weight loss: How The Chase legend lost up to 3 stone – Express

Anne Hegerty is best known as The Governess on ITVs The Chase, which has a new spin-off called Beat The Chasers that started this week. But as well as being famous for her formidable knowledge, Hegerty has made plenty of headlines for her impressive weight loss over the last few years.

The 61-year-old star lost weight very publicly after she won hearts on ITVs Im a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here in 2018.

The popular show puts celebrities through their paces as theyre left to live in the Australian jungle on very basic rations, taking part in gruesome tasks to try and win more food.

Campmates have to eat a basic diet of rice and beans unless they win additional treats and dinners through the terrifying challenges.

Hegerty lost a stone during her three weeks in the jungle, though reports suggest she may have lost up to three stone in total since her trip Down Under. She has said she struggled with the restricted diet.

Talking to Phillip Schofield and Rochelle Humes on This Morning in 2018, the quiz star revealed she didnt get on with the rice at all.

About a week ago my digestive system just said to me Im sorry, I'm not having any more rice, she told them.

"I can have beans, I can have rice and beans but I am having no more rice because it is just going straight through. So since then Ive not had rice by itself. It just went straight through me.

Anne, who has Aspergers syndrome, revealed shed found being in the jungle incredibly hard and was even considering walking out, but her fellow campers helped her to keep going.

They said take it easy, lets just get through the next few hours, then let's just get through the next day, have one more night in here and see how you feel... and it gradually began to feel like something I could continue to do, Hegerty told This Morning.

The Britain's Brightest Family host has also spoken honestly about her size and health in the past.

Talking to Jeremy Vine in January 2019, she admitted: I do not have big bones. I do not have a glandular issue. I'm fat because I eat enormously. That's why. And I love cake, it's brilliant."

However, she passed the medical for Im a Celeb and says shes healthy despite being big.

But the thing is my health is fine. Before I went into the jungle I had to have a load of tests and they all came back saying, 'Your blood sugar is perfectly normal, your blood pressure is if anything lower than perhaps it might be. We've spent an hour staring at scans of your heart, you don't have any clogged-up arteries'.

The quiz champion has said shed like to be fitter, though, adding: I'm not a fit fat person and I would like to be fitter, but I am not unhealthy."

Anne also revealed in an interview with Express.co.uk that if she could change anything about her body it would actually be her eyes.

Id like bigger eyes. Why did I inherit my mums big boobs and big feet but not her big eyes? the Governess said.

The brainbox has also spoken candidly about how her bra size was a source of massive discomfort during her time in the jungle.

She told The Mirror: I'm not really designed for the outdoor life and I'm not really an outdoorsy person. Just things like trying to take my bra off and put it on - I mean I have really enormous knockers.

I don't even know what size I am because I buy the biggest bra I can to get the biggest cup size and then I take it in, my several inches, so all my bras are customised, so they have lots of knots in them.

In an interview with ITVs Loose Women, Hegerty admitted she was delighted that the reality show had helped viewers to see her as herself, rather than as her alter-ego from The Chase.

She said: "For a long time I wasnt allowed to be anything but The Governess when I went on TV, even if I went on a talk show I had to be in costume. I mean guys, I own clothes!"

Alanis Morissette: ‘Almost every woman in the music industry has been assaulted, harassed, raped’ – Yahoo Sports

Alanis Morissette says the music industry is primed for a #MeToo reckoning of its own.

In a new interview with the Sunday Times Magazine, the singer speaks out against a culture she says is steeped in abuse and misogyny though she stops short of naming names.

While industry figures like rocker Ryan Adams, R&B star R. Kelly, producer Dr. Luke and hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons have been accused, to varying degrees, of sexual misconduct, Morissette says a Hollywood-style movement hasnt even begun in the music industry.

Almost every woman in the music industry has been assaulted, harassed, raped, the mom of three said. Its ubiquitous more in music, even, than film. Its just so normalised.

Sex, drugs and rock n roll? she added. By definition its crass, sweaty and aggressive. But its only a matter of time before it has its own explosion of stories.

The 45-year-old declined to identify anyone in particular as a perpetrator responding, I dont have an answer at this moment but did share instances from her own pop star past.

Many things happened: sexual abuse, exploitation, financial undermining, she said of her music career, saying she was mistreated from age 3 onwards, frankly. That included being pressured to lose weight after skyrocketing to stardom with Jagged Little Pill, culminating in an eating disorder and depression.

Unsolicited feedback is a form of violence against women, she said.

Morissette turned to recovery groups and used her music to work through her demons. She told the Sunday Times that her record company responded by suggesting that the music video for Hands Clean feature kids singing its provocative lyrics about abuse.

I was like, Have you heard the lyrics? Did you read ? No, right? she recalled.

While she praised Kesha, who is in a lengthy legal battle with Dr. Luke over her allegation of rape, for kicking a**, Morissette also defended those who take their time to share their own experiences.

I mean, please. First of all, they didnt wait. Second, they face the threat of losing their job, reputation or not being believed. At best its swept under the rug, at worst you are admonished or fired, she said of women who expose abuse.

My goal would be to take away the normalisation, she said later. And the structures that allow it.

It’s time to have an honest conversation about the risks of excess weight – Telegraph.co.uk

No one chooses to be fat. Social scientists from The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) conducted an international poll to find out what matters most to people for their general wellbeing. Good health was revealed as the number one priority, so how can this be squared with the fact that 60% of the UKs adult population is now overweight or obese?

As pointed out in the New England Journal of Medicine: food choices are often automatic and made without full conscious awareness. Despite wishing to lose weight, were still tempted to buy the chocolate bar at the checkout till.

Yet as the country is gripped by the Coronavirus crisis, being overweight and its associated health risks are being highlighted as never before.

There is a staggering ten-fold increased risk of death from COVID-19 for those with obesity and the conditions associated with metabolic syndrome such as type 2 diabetes.

Metabolic syndrome, which is caused by excess body fat, is defined as any three of a cluster of five conditions; increased blood pressure, excess body fat around the waist, high blood sugar and abnormal cholesterol levels.

Data from America reveals only 1 in 8 adults is metabolically healthy, including less than 1 in 3 with a normal BMI of under 25.

Those with obesity and metabolic diseases already have some degree of mild ongoing chronic inflammation in the body and appear to have an impaired immune response to coronavirus that ultimately causes the cytokine storm (an overreaction of the bodies immune system) leading to respiratory failure and death in a tragic minority.

This, by the way, might also be one of the most plausible explanations so far as to why those from BAME backgrounds are more at risk of COVID-19 complications as they have a three to fourfold increased prevalence of metabolic syndrome than Caucasians. Vitamin D deficiency may also play a role.

Excess body fat produces inflammatory molecules in the body which over time slowly damage organs. Chronically raised insulin, driven by regularly eating high glycaemic index products (typical of ultra-processed foods) also appears to be the driving force behind a series of conditions; type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease and possibly even cancer and dementia.

As pointed out by Professor Robert Lustig, Paediatric endocrinologist at the University of California, San Francisco, ultra-processed food sets you up for inflammation that COVID-19 is happy to exploit. Just another way ultra-processed food kills.

The food industry has exploited peoples emotional urges by saturating the food environment to maximise sales opportunities. They have managed to make cheap junk food available to anyone, anywhere at any time. Not surprisingly more than 50% of the calories consumed in the British Diet is now classified as ultra-processed food or what obesity researcher Dr Zoe Harcombe more pertinently describes as fake food.

Nuts are also high in protein and good fats, making them an excellent all rounder for adding to breakfasts. Just make sure that if you're eating almonds they're organically produced.

We say 'Greek yogurt' because many products that are sold are yogurts are full of sugar and therefore no good for weight loss. Always choose full-fat, bio-live Greek yoghurt: it's full of protein and probiotics good for weight loss and for your gut.

SAVE NOW: Simple tips to lose weight and improve your health – Suburban Journals

(StatePoint) While a healthy lifestyle can certainly help you get the body you always wanted, the benefits extend well beyond your appearance, say experts.

Adopting a healthy lifestyle offers more than just weight loss alone; it can also promote your overall health and reduce your risk of chronic diseases, like diabetes, heart disease, stroke and even some types of cancer, says registered dietitian nutritionist (RDN) and Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics spokesperson Ximena Jimenez. Eating right and staying active is an investment in a high-quality life.

Jimenez offers a few ways you can bite into a healthy lifestyle.

Make informed food choices.A healthy lifestyle is about so much more than just choosing to eat more fruits and vegetables. While this is important, its also essential to make informed food choices based on your individual health and nutrient needs. Knowing which nutrients your body needs, the foods that contain them and how much fits into your healthy eating plan are all part of making smart choices. A registered dietitian nutritionist can educate you and guide your food choices while keeping your tastes and preferences in mind.

Choose sensible snacks. Sensible snacks are a part of any healthful eating plan. If you choose carefully and plan ahead, snacks can prevent overeating at mealtimes and throughout the day. For children and adults alike, snacks can supply foods and nutrients we might miss in meals. Focus on fruits, vegetables, whole-grains and low-fat dairy foods.
