Weight loss: I lost 10st after getting so fat I got wedged in a seat on the Tube to work – The Sun
FEASTING on takeaways and eating treats in secret, Shelly Ribbons was in denial.
It was only when she got wedged in a seat on the Tube on her commute to work that she realised her weight had spiralled out of control.

She was travelling to work when she tried to get up at her stop.
But when she couldn't, she realised she was stuck between the seats.
Despite several tries, Shelly couldn't get up and too embarrassed to ask for help she ended up waiting for four stops before she could dislodge herself from the seat.
So horrified was she, at what had happened, Shelly vowed to overhaul her lifestyle and diet.
"When I tried to get up, I couldn't," she said.
"Commuters were sitting either side of me, meaning my fat had squished under the arm rests and I was wedged.
"I had to go four stops until one person got up and I was able to push my fat from under the arm rest and get out of the chair.
"To this day, even though I have lost over 10st, the seats with arm rests scare me as I still think I'm going to get stuck."
"I was totally mortified," she added.

"I promised myself there and then - after I cried my eyes out - that I would never buy any size 28 clothes again."
From that day, Shelly started to review her diet and watched what she ate.
She had never considered it before, feasting on regular takeaways and eating sugary treats throughout the day, often after scoffing two breakfasts.
I promised myself there and then - after I cried my eyes out - that I would never buy any size 28 clothes again
"Having a massive greasy takeaway was kind of the norm," she said.
"I can remember hiding food too. Eating things in private because then it didn't count.
"No one saw me eat five chocolate bars so it didn't happen, right?"
After leaving school and getting a busy job in the city, Shelly's weight just spiralled reaching 22st.
As the weight started to come off, with a healthier diet and more exercise, Shelly also signed up to Slimming World.

It was the turning point, she said, changing her attitude and relationship with food for good.
Now Shelly feels equipped to make healthier choices when eating out, and now loves exercising.
"My whole mindset has changed towards food," Shelly said.
"And my attitude towards exercise has changed too.
"I enjoy working out and am now ever so slightly competitive with myself."
Shelly now goes to the gym every day before work, and is taking on the London Marathon next April to raise money for the Rainbow Trust children's charity.
"I never ever thought I would say this, but I love exercise," Shelly said.

Offering words of advice to others who want to try and lose weight, Shelly said it's best to take it slowly and not try to rush the process.
"Stick with it and take it slow," she said.
"We all want that quick weight loss but I honestly think that losing it the way I have has meant I have kept the weight off.
"Don't let the scales completely control your life.

Aaron Washer Update on My 600 Lb. Life – Heavy.com
FacebookAaron Washer's season 7 episode of "My 600 Lb. Life" airs tonight at 8 p.m. ET on TLC. Read on to see what Aaron's been up to since his episode premiered.
Aaron Washer is the subject of tonights season 7rerun episode ofMy 600 Lb. Life. The synopsis for tonights episode reads, Since the death of his mother, Aaron has lived at home to care for his aging father. But due to his food addiction, Aaron has to heavily rely on his father for help instead. Now, Aaron must learn to care for himself to avoid eating himself to death.
When we first met the Texas native, he weighed over 700 pounds and was primarily taken care of by his 76-year-old dad, Eugene. He couldnt get around without a cane and only took two long walks per day one to the kitchen and one to the bathroom. At the time, the reality star told the cameras that life is pure torture because Im in so much pain, so he decided to seek out the help of celebrity bariatric surgeon Dr. Younan Nowzaradan, commonly referred to as Dr. Now, to try to shed some weight and get his health back on track.
So whats going on with Aaron today? Since TLC is re-airing his episode tonight, fans might be wondering where he is now, and if he managed to lose anymore weight since he last appeared on the show. Heres what we know about Aarons life today:
My 600-lb Life -AaronMy 600-lb Life airs Wednesdays on TLC2019-03-20T01:23:02.000Z
Although Aaron moved back home to help care for his aging father, a disabled Vietnam veteran who struggled with his mobility, the roles ended up being reversed after Eugene was forced to help Aaron instead.
I do feel bad that I have to make my 76-year-old father do it all for me, Aaron says in the clip above. I worry that its going to be too much for my father at some point but it still doesnt stop me from having him [shop for me] because this is the only way to get the groceries I want.
Although Aaron starts his episode at 718 pounds, he manages to lose more than 300 pounds by the 11-month mark. He goes from relying on his elderly father to get him groceries and assist him around the house to losing enough weight to get his sleeve surgery. Aaron became one of the most inspiring subjects of season 7, and was understandably proud of his hard work.
Im really happy about my results and how the appointment went today, he told the cameras. And Im feeling really encouraged and confident right now about how well Im doing. I was a kid last time I was in the 300s, so to be practically there is exciting. And I cant wait to keep making more progress and to see all the things Im going to be able to do once I hit my target weight.
YoutubeAaron Washer, star of the hit reality series My 600 Lb. Life.
Even Dr. Now gushed about Aarons success, telling him how great it was that he was becoming more independent, and at one point expressing how proud he was of his accomplishments. Im proud of your progress, keep up the good work, he told Aaron during his episode.
Im very proud of Aaron, Dr. Now told the cameras during Aarons episode, explaining how resilient and determined the reality star was. His start was a little rocky but once we got him to wake up and to understand how dangerous his situation was, he got determined and started doing what he needed and hasnt looked back or slowed down at all. At this point, I have no doubt hes going to continue doing whatever he needs to do to get to his target weight soon and to make sure hes successful in the long run.
Aaron worked hard during his time with Dr. Now, and in the end, was able to lose nearly 50 percent of his initial body weight. By the end of his first episode, Aaron had lost a total of 315 pounds, for thefifth-biggest weight loss ofMy 600 Lb Life Season 7, according to Starcasm.
If you asked me a year ago if I thought Id be out doing all that I am, I would have said theres no earthly way, Aaron said of his weight-loss journey, adding that he can happily get out and walk all day and feels like he can accomplish all his goals. Its amazing to have this chance.
Although the reality star smashed all of his weight loss goals and began living a much healthier life, he sadly lost his father shortly after his episode aired earlier this year. On May 12, Aaron updated his now-defunct fan page on Facebook with the news of his fathers passing. As of 2 am this morning, Aaron wrote, my dad has been called back to the lord. Its not completely clear how his father died, but shortly before Aaron revealed that Eugene had passed away, he told fans that his father had been hospitalized due to a really bad infection in his foot.
Although Aaron is rarely active on social media, Starcasm shared another update on the reality star in August; according to the publication, Aaron reached out to fans a few months after his fathers passing to express his gratitude for the love and support he received, while also apologizing for his long absence. Aaron wrote that he was still coping with the loss of his father, but that he was dating a beautiful and wonderful woman and was still losing weight.
Hey everyone I know its been a while since Ive been on here and updated anybody its been hard since my dad passed a lot has happened i am now in a relationship with a very beautiful and wonderful woman she has brought light into my world that I thought I would never see. Im now working full time Im still losing weight really excited about that overall it been OK. Weight loss: Eating banana SKINS helps you shed pounds, beat the bloat & sleep better, expert reveals – The Sun
THE humble banana has been hailed a health superhero - due to its potassium-rich content.
And now, a top dietitian has now claimed that we should be munching on the yella fella's SKIN as well - to reap the health benefits.
1
Susie Burrell says that eating the fruit's peel can improve your sleep, enhance your skin and even boost weight loss.
She says: "Specifically, you will increase your overall fibre content by at least ten per cent as a lot of dietary fibre can be found in the skin of the banana.
"You will get almost 20 per cent more vitamin B6 and almost 20 per cent more vitamin C and you will boost both your potassium and magnesium intake."
Despite this, when it comes to eating banana skin, Susie does not recommend you just munch on the peel once you've finished its insides.
Instead, she suggests putting it in a smoothie, baked goods or a curry to boost your nutritional intake.
Writing in her blog, she adds: "Rather, cooking the skin to soften it will help to break down some of the cell walls within the skin, helping to make the nutrients easy to absorb.
"Next blending the skin into recipes or smoothies is the most practical way to use them.
"Here you will increase the volume and nutritional content of recipes with minimal change to taste and texture of the cooking."
Dishes that work well with banana skin included in them as well as smoothies are muffins, banana bread and curries.
And Susie also revealed that the particular banana skin you choose is important when thinking about the specific nutrients.
She says: "Specifically bananas with bright yellow skins have a higher proportion of antioxidants associated with anti-cancer effects while green skins (less ripe bananas) are particularly rich in the amino acid tryptophan which is associated with good sleep quality.
"Green banana skins are also rich in resistance starch, the special type of fibre known to benefit gut health.
The health benefits of a banana
Here, nutritionist Amanda Ursell tells The Sun why bananas are so beneficial when it comes to our health.
Kill a hangover:Bananascontain potassium - a mineral lost when we drink alcohol. It's important to replenish it quickly and potassium helps to maintain fluids in the body.
Beat stroke: Potassiumhelps to reduce the activity of blood platelets which cause blood to clot. Unwanted clots are responsible for a large proportion of all strokes.
Boost immune system: One medium-sizedbananaprovides around 25 per cent of our recommended daily vitamin C intake.
Fight cancer:Good and regular intakes of antioxidants alpha carotene and beta carotene have been associated with reducing the risk of lung cancer.
Lose weight:Bananasare rich in fibre - which will help to keep you fuller for longer - so they may fight obesity.
Fall asleep: The magnesium in bananas promotes better sleep and muscle relaxation, so eating one before bed could help you to nod off more quickly.
Healthy pregnancy: They also contain an impressive mix of B vitamins, including some folate. That is vital for pregnant women because it can reduce the risk of spina bifida in babies.
Boost brain: Again, this is down to the potassium, which helps to keep plenty of oxygen running through the brain.
Cut heart attacks: Bananas have been proven to help reduce the risk of a heart attack. They do this by reducing levels of "bad" cholesterol in the blood. This means your arteries don't get blocked.
Fight flu: This fab fruit also contains quercetin, a super-nutrient. The nutrient has been shown in lab studies to help kill off viruses such as the herpes simplex virus, which triggers colds and flu.
"As these skins are much tougher, they are definitely best consumed after boiling to soften the skins."
As well as their positive nutritional benefits, Susie points out that banana skins have several other practical uses in day to day life.
For example, she says cooking meat on top of them will help to boost the moisture content of any meal and they can help make a great vinegar.
It comes after it emerged eating bananas regularly can help prevent heart attacks and strokes.

The potassium in the fruit combats the hardening and narrowing of arteries, scientists discovered.

Its effect on the arteries emerged in US lab tests at the University of Alabama on mice.

Weight loss: The best snacks to eat that burn fat while you sleep revealed – Express
Losing weight for many is an ongoing battle of ups and downs, butonekey to successful weight loss or maintaining a healthy weight is incorporatinghealthysnacks into your daily regime. After all, snacks can help maintain energy levels throughout the day and could also help prevent slimmers from overeating once its mealtime. So, why not try some fat burning snacks to lose weight while you sleep?
Snacking is one of the main causes of unwanted weight gain. Previously, in research conducted by USDA, it has shown that when someone is snaking they tend to add extra calories to their diet while neglecting to add any nutrients.
Of course, often there are different diet plans which fight for and against counting calories but the main problem with snacking is that when theyre consumed, more often than not, the snacks contain high levels of carbohydrates, that arent the good kind, meaning that they can drive overeating and increase the risk of obesity.
According to Helena Griffiths, fitness and nutritionist, snacking can keep slimmers hunger levels down and reduce excess calorie intake.
She said: "Snackingcan help keep your hunger levels on an even keel, especially on days when your meals are spaced further apart.

"However, it's important to make healthy snack choices and there are some miracle snacks that can really help with weight loss. If consumed in moderation."
Eating snacks with the right ratio of nutrients and calories will help to keep a body energised as well as stimulate weight loss.
Protein plays a huge role in this as it helps to fuel the growth of lean muscle mass. This, in turn, boosts metabolic rate and increases calorie burn.
Some of these snacks bellow also contain healthy amounts offibre. This helps to improve digestion and keeps you from going crazy on the unhealthy fats and sugars.
DON'T MISS
1. An apple and almond milk
When trying to lose weight, often slimmers will go on fad or crazy diets to stimulate quick weight loss.
When trying to lose weight there is no need to cut out or reduce dairy intake, unless its full-fat dairy.
A great alternative to milk is almond milk. After a bit of getting used to it will transform a slimmers life. Not only is it vegan, but it is also low in calories, its nutritious and high in vitamin D.
Apples are a great snack due to their high levels of fibre as well their ability to satisfy and quench hunger.
So, why pair it with almond milk?
Having an apple and almond milk before bed, boosts the protein levels in a slimmers system allowing the food to stimulate and increase ones metabolism, therefore encouraging natural weight loss while slimmers slumbers.
2. Cottage cheese-filled avocado
Avocados are a super fruit that when consumed increases the rate at which fat in the body is burned. As well as having properties which reduce appetite and decreases the desire to eat.
A study also found that by introducing cottage cheese into a diet helps decrease body weight, as it is high in protein and increases the feeling of fullness.
So, why pair the pair?
Mixinganavocado with full-fat cottage cheese can provide a slimmer with a great snack fully loaded with the nutrients that a body needs to lose weight as well as increase a slimmers feeling of fullness, preventing them from overeating and gaining further weight.
3. Tuna on whole wheat cracker
In moderation, tuna is a healthy, low-calorie protein source that is rich in omega-3-fatty acids, which are essential nutrients that aid your heart, brain, and immune system.
So, why should it be paired with a whole-wheat cracker?
Tuna provides great taste while still balancing out calorie intake since its low in fat and rich in proteins and nutrients. Paired with a whole-wheat cracker, which is full of fibre, allows a slimmer a well-balanced snack that stimulates fat-burning in the body.
4. Warm pear with cinnamon and ricotta cheese
Cinnamonis said to increase insulin sensitivity and decrease blood sugar - both key components forlosing weight. Cinnamonis also thought to boost metabolism because your bodyusesmore energy to process the spice than it does for other foods.
Pearsare rich in essential antioxidants, plant compounds, and dietary fibre, they pack all of these nutrients in afat-free, cholesterol-free, 100 calorie package.
So, why pair these with ricotta cheese?

If You Want to Lose Weight and Keep It Off, This is the Magic Number of Calories to Cut Every Day – LIVESTRONG.COM
We've all heard that we should "eat less" and "move more" when trying to lose weight, but this advice is a little vague. Take eating less, for example: Exactly how many calories should you be aiming to cut each day to get the scale moving in the right direction?
How many calories you should cut to lose weight depends on where you are in your journey, but experts agree that 500 is a good place to start for most. Credit: 10'000 Hours/DigitalVision/GettyImages
To figure this out, your goal needs to be broken up into practical and digestible pieces. Sure, losing 5 pounds a week sounds great, but what it takes for most of us to do that is not enjoyable, sustainable or safe. Instead, set realistic and approachable daily and weekly goals that will help you get there. Here's how.
Did you know that keeping a food diary is one of the most effective ways to manage your weight? Download the MyPlate app to easily track calories, stay focused and achieve your goals!
For those looking to lose weight, sources like the 2015-2020 Dietary Guidelines for Americans recommend cutting 500 to 750 calories a day. How did they land on that "magic range?" Well, cutting this amount from your diet each day should equate to about a 1 to 1.5 pounds weight loss each week, which is considered safe and maintainable in the long run, according to the National Institutes of Health.
Here's the breakdown on how that works:
In September 1958, a doctor named Max Wishnofsky published a paper in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition concluding that 3,500 calories equals about 1 pound of fat. Thus, it's estimated that you need to burn about 3,500 calories to lose 1 pound. Based on this, if you cut about 500 to 750 calories a day from your diet, you should create a weekly calorie deficit between 3,500 and 5,250, which means you'll lose about 1 to 1.5 pounds in that timeframe.
While that sounds pretty straightforward, it's actually a bit more complex, as explained in a June 2014 Journal of Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics article. That's because when we lose weight, we don't just shed fat we lose a bit of water and muscle along with the fat. Additionally, as we lose weight, our metabolism typically slows for two reasons: There's less of us to feed and we're losing some muscle, which is metabolically active (aka helps us burn calories).
The takeaway? Cutting 500 to 750 calories a daily is still a safe and effective way to start your weight-loss journey. But as you begin to lose weight, you'll want to make adjustments to your calorie needs, especially if your weight loss plateaus. Additionally, incorporating resistance training as part of your exercise regimen will help you to maintain and build muscle, which boosts your metabolism.
Cutting more calories to reach your goal faster isn't a great idea. As mentioned earlier, sure, losing 5 pounds a week sounds efficient, but the calorie deprivation and extensive exercise it would take for most of us to reach that goal is exhausting, difficult to maintain and, quite frankly, unhealthy.
One way the "more is better" approach is counterproductive is by slowing your metabolism. When you drastically cut your calories, your body slows down in an attempt to conserve energy ("starvation mode"); the opposite of what you're looking for when trying to lose weight.
An August 2016 study published in Obesity looked at the long-term outcomes of The Biggest Loser contestants, known for weight-loss success as a result of significant calorie restriction and excessive exercise regimens. The study found that, immediately following the competition, the contestants' weight loss was significant but they were naturally burning about 600 calories less than when they started. And six years after the competition, their metabolisms had slowed even further.
A slowed metabolism as a result of cutting too many calories too quickly can happen in the short-term, too. An older study, published March 2006 in Environmental Health and Preventative Medicine, restricted daily intake to 1,462 and 1,114 calories in two groups of people over four days. Both groups of people lost the same amount of weight, but the lower-calorie group had a greater reduction in their basal metabolic rate (13 percent) compared to the other group (6 percent reduction).
You also run the risk of nutritional deficiencies if you're not getting enough calories and ultimately eating enough food. According to Harvard Health Publishing, women shouldn't dip below 1,200 calories per day, and men shouldn't consume less than 1,500 calories per day unless you're working with a healthcare professional.
The majority of people can use the Dietary Guidelines for Americans to determine how many calories they should be eating each day based on their sex, age and activity level. And if you're trying to lose weight initially, you can subtract 500 to 750 calories from that number to get you started, then adjust as needed as you go. But keep in mind that cutting that amount per day from your diet might not be appropriate for everyone, especially if it you puts you below the 1,200- or 1,500-calorie thresholds mentioned earlier for women and men, respectively.
To make it even easier on yourself, you can download the MyPlate tracker to determine your daily calorie needs to meet your specific goals. It also makes it easier to update your needs as your weight and exercise regimen change.

What Motivates People to Lose Weight Live Longer and Stronger – WomansDay.com
Ponder this question: What motivates you? Millions of people post their inspirations to the #mondaymotivation hashtag on Instagram and Twitter each weekoften its a gym selfie to encourage others to work out too, or a stunning sunrise that made starting a new workday just a little bit easier. We love the sentiment, so we posed that question to the ladies in this years Live Longer & Stronger Challenge, with a very specific angle: What were they using to motivate themselves to stick to our heart-healthy eating and exercise plan that week? There was one common threadthe family they were working so hard to change for. But each woman also drew motivation from other things that were near and dear to their (already healthier) hearts. A new dress they wanted to fit into, a pacemaker scar that symbolized her fight to live well, a new book she authored that taught kindness and acceptance, good friends who changed their own habits as a show of support, and more. Here are a few of our favorites.
(During the exercise challenge, you might remember that Nancy tried hiking a mountain but had to stop after experiencing chest pains. Almost two months later, and just weeks after filming this video, she made it to the top!)

How to lose weight like this guy who lost 27 kgs by clubbing these two genius weight loss hacks together – GQ India – What a man’s got to do
While losing weight is never going to be as easy as 1,2,3 or lets be honest as easy as gaining it, no ones said that to be able to lose weight you absolutely have to spend a fortune. 20-year-old Naman Agrawal tells us that at his heaviest he weighed a whopping 102 kgs and to bid adieu his bodys excess fat, he resorted to a hassle-free dieting pattern of intermittent fasting clubbed with cardio.
I was ashamed of the way I looked. And, beyond a point, I just wanted to feel healthier. Thus, I decided to commence my weight loss journey by following an intermittent fasting pattern of eating clubbed with the simplest cardio workouts ever - jogging and running, initially, to trim from 102 kgs to 73 kgs, he says.
Intermittent Fasting (IF) is an eating pattern that cycles between periods of fasting and eating. It doesnt specify which foods you can or cannot eat. It only focuses on when you should eat them.
There are many IF plans and patterns that you can follow, but the most effective one, according to studies is the 16:8 IF diet. The 16:8 IF diet entails one to observe a 16-hour fasting period, followed by an 8-hour eating window.
You can commence a 16-hour fast at 10:00 pm in the night, after you eat your last meal of the day and go to sleepthats 7-8 hours gone right there. You can break the 16-hour fast at 2:00 pm with your lunch and eat small meals till 10:00 pmthis makes up the 8-hour eating window. Alternatively, you can also begin your fast at 8 pm and break it at 12 pm, the next day, like Naman did.
My 8 hour window started from 12 pm (Lunch) and ended at 8 pm (Dinner) and in the remaining 16 hours, Id only drink water and sometimes a cup of espresso to sustain. In addition to this, all my meals and drinks comprised no sugar and processed foods except Diet Coke (just a little something to kill the sweet cravings now and then).
The best thing about intermittent fasting is that there are no such restrictions on what to eat, as the main principle is based on when to eat. But I only stuck to eating lunch and dinner, which would include 2 rotis with a vegetable preparation.
ALSO READ: Is intermittent fasting really worth It?
My weight loss exercise regime comprised only cardio exercises (for the first 3 months). Id go for a jog around my college's campus everyday for about 20 minutes with a pace of around 7min/km and on Sunday I used to go for a long-distance run (5K-10K)
Post these 3 months, I added weight training to my weight loss regime. So then, 6 out of the 7 days of the week, I trained every muscle group and on Sunday, as usual, Id go for a long run.

How Carrie Fisher’s Death Changed Billie Lourd’s Perspective On Life – Showbiz Cheat Sheet
Billie Lourd grew up in the shadow cast by a tremendous line of powerful and famous matriarchs. Her mother, Carrie Fisher, and her grandmother, Debbie Reynolds, were both famous in their own rights and for their complex mother-daughter relationship with one another.
Lourd has had to grow up with both of their legacies (and the sometimes scandalous stories) surrounding these women.
When she tragically lost both of them over the span of two days, she was left with two gaping holes and the chance to look at her life in a new way. Its been three years since Fisher and Reynolds died. What has Lourd learned about her role in life and how is she moving forward?
Fisher was very open about her life and shared insights and reflections through several memoirs. In these books, she opened up about her struggles with substance abuse as well as the reality of being such a megastar for her role as Princess Leia in the Star Wars franchise.
She told tales of dealing with sexual harassment on the job as well as reflecting on facing pressures to lose weight to play her roles.
One struggle in her life that always drew attention was her relationship with her mother. Reynolds and Fisher had a complex relationship. Fisher opened up about constantly comparing herself to her famous and beautiful mother.
As she struggled with substance abuse in her 20s, she also distanced herself from her mother. In fact, the pair barely spoke for nearly a decade.
Their reconciliation was a powerful testament to their love for one another. As Fisher found sobriety and the two were able to figure out how to work around their differences, they had a strong relationship. Some even say that Reynolds death the day after her daughters was rooted in a broken heart.
Lourd grew up with a world obsessed with her motherwell, they were at least obsessed with her mothers character, Princess Leia. Fishers daughter explained that it felt like she grew up with a third parent, the fictional Star Wars princess.
She didnt understand the obsession and tried to shut down the discussion of the character and distance herself from the films.
I just wanted my mom the one who lived on Earth, not Tatooine, Lourd explained.
Later, Lourd would be cast in some of the more contemporary iterations of the Star Wars franchise, and thats when she started to warm up to the character.
She now feels responsible for upholding the legacy of not only her mother, but also Princess Leia as a character, a character wholike Fisher herselfshowed tremendous growth and transformation over the years.
With the tragedy of losing both her mother and her grandmother at the same time behind her, Lourd is ready to find her own path in the world. She has had a leading role in the seventh and eight seasons ofAmerican Horror Story, showing that the acting genes have passed down across the generations.
As she picks up other television and film roles (including one in the hitBooksmart), Lourd is creating a unique space for herself in the Hollywood scene.
Ive always kind of lived in their shadows, and now is the first time in my life when I get to own my life and stand on my own, Lourd explained in 2016.
She knows that she will always be her mothers daughter and connected to the star in fans minds, but she also says that its time for her to find her own way:I love being my mothers daughter, and its something I always will be, but now I get to be just Billie.

Therefore, consuming a glass of skim milk (or non-dairy milk, if you are lactose intolerant) with a big bowl of papaya salad can fill you up and support the working of good bacteria in the digestive system. This is absolutely nutritious and healthy.
Lunch
For lunch, you can choose to have something like whole grains or steamed vegetables. Have it alongside a glass of papaya juice. You can also cut up papayas and make it into a smoothie, top it with some nuts and consume it as a mid-meal snack. A good alternative to mindless junking!
Dinner
For dinner, have something light yet filling. Soup is a good meal to choose from. Eating fresh papaya can act as a sweet serving for your diet. Following this diet religiously for 2 days straight will prove to be extremely helpful

The advice for weight control used to be simple: eat less and exercise more. But emerging research suggests that not all calories are created equal. That bowl of frosted cereal for breakfast has a completely different impact on your body than an equivalent serving of oatmeal with fresh berries. Here are some of the foods that seem to contribute most to widespread obesity, and those with the most promise to help us slim down.
THE OFFENDERS
The sugar trap
Naturally occurring sugars in fruit, vegetables and dairy products give us necessary energy. But the added sweet stuff in our diets not only racks up empty calories, it numbs our cells to insulin, making the heart work harder to pump it out and bring blood sugar down to a normal range. Sugar that is not consumed by the body is also more likely than other calories to be stored as fat. Worse, perhaps, is that sugar releases feel-good opioids and dopamine in the brain and that high is habit-forming. According to researchers at the University of Tennessee, the increase in adults living with obesity is linked to the long-lasting effects of the high-sugar diets among children in the 1970s and 1980s.
Convenient caloriesThat a frozen pizza contributes more to obesity than a salad is no big surprise. But according to a recent report in Cell Metabolism, the first randomized, controlled trial of its kind, the problem is not simply bottom-line caloric intake or levels of macronutrients such as fats.
Over a period of one month, 20 healthy adult volunteers were admitted to the National Health Institutes Clinical Center in Maryland. For two weeks, they were given ultra-processed meals, bagels with cream cheese and turkey bacon, for example, or frozen dinners. For the other two weeks, they were fed unprocessed foods such as oatmeal with fruit and diners such as roast chicken with rice and peas. Both diets contained the same number of calories and the same amount of fat, fibre and carbohydrates. The key difference between the two menus: ingredients predominantly found in industrial food manufacturing, such as hydrogenated oils, high-fructose corn syrup, flavoring agents, and emulsifiers.
The results were stark: Those on the ultra-processed diets ate faster, and about 500 calories more per day, than those on unprocessed diets. In fact, those on the unprocessed diets lost weight. Why processed foods led to these differences remains to be studied, but the scientists conclusion heavily processed foods cause overeating and weight gain in and of themselves.

Potato chip pile-onClearly, chips arent a health food. Theyre loaded with salt and fried in oil, and people mindlessly crunch through large portions. How bad are they? Harvard University scientists say they are thebiggest culprit behind the pound-a-year weight creep.
By analyzing data collected over 20 years from more than 120,000 men and women in the U.S. who were not obese and were free of chronic diseases, researchers identified a number of specific foods linked to weight gain. Potato chips were the biggest offender: a daily one-ounce serving about 15 chips and 160 calories led to a 1.69-pound increase over four years.
As for healthier veggie sticks and straws? Theyre like a wolf in sheeps clothing, says Anna Taylor, a registered dietitian at the Cleveland Clinic. (They) lack fibre and protein, and are practically devoid of nutrients.
Grab-and-go smoothiesUnless you make them yourself, smoothies often come with hidden sugar and calories mainly from juice. But the fact that these drinks can pack as much sugar as a few bags of candy is only part of the reason they contribute to obesity. Nutrition and behaviour scientists at theUniversity of Bristol have found thatfruit smoothies and other energy-containing drinks are also less satiating than whole foods. We can gulp down anywhere from 300 to 700 calories of a spinach-and-berry-filled drink that wont keep us feeling as full as a whole-food option such as fruit slices with nut butter.
Refined grainsMany people think of carbs as the enemy when it comes to weight loss. But its important to focus on the right target: white rice, white bread, white pasta and all-purpose flour all of which lack the fibre and key nutrients of their whole-grain counterparts and carry a high glycemic index. The glycemic index is a scale that ranks carb-loaded foods by how much they raise blood sugar. Spanish nutrition researchers reviewed abody of research on diet and obesityand found that people who regularly consume refined grains, as well as other foods with a high glycemic index, have more difficulty managing their weight.
THE HEROES
Nuts to that
Not all fats are a four-letter word. Anew study published in the online journalBMJ Nutrition, Prevention & Healthfound that eating a handful of nuts on a regular basis may help prevent excessive weight gain and lower the risk of obesity. Thats because most of the fat in nuts are good for us: monounsaturated fat, as well as omega-6 and omega-3 polyunsaturated fat, are essential to protect our organs, help us absorb nutrients and produce important hormones.
Researchers also say that the fat, protein and fibre combination in nuts takes longer to digest than foods with just carbohydrates and protein, keeping us feeling full longer. They found that a consistent intake of at least a half-ounce of nuts a day was associated with a 23 per cent lower risk of putting on 10 or more pounds over a four-year period. An added bonus, when nuts became a regular part of participants diets, their unhealthy food consumption decreased.
Beans and lentils
The biggest obstacle to lasting weight loss is also the most obvious: hunger. Eating protein at every meal can help, says Alexandra Johnstone, a specialist in obesity and metabolic health at the Rowett Institute of Nutrition and Health at the University of Aberdeen. Plant-based proteins, such as beans and lentils, can also have a positive impact on the trillions of bacteria and microorganisms that live in our digestive tract, according to astudy presented this October at the United European Gastroenterology Week in Barcelona. A healthy gut is foundational, responsible for better food absorption and overall system regulation.
Fermenting is your friend
Naturally fermented foods are also getting a lot of attention from health experts because of their role in strengthening our gut microbiome. Researchers have linked the loss of healthy bacteria and microorganisms to all sorts of health conditions, including obesity. Foods like kombucha tea, kefir, kimchi and sauerkraut are preserved using a traditional process that boosts food shelf life and nutritional value, and provide a dose of healthy probiotics, the microorganisms essential to healthy digestion.
