For three months, TODAY nutritionist Joy Bauer and Dr. Mehmet Oz have been encouraging us all to get healthy and fit for the official start of summer with their Drop 10 TODAY plan. Well, summer's finally here, and how did you do?

"What I love about this plan is that I'm not hungry," said Julie, from Seattle, who lost 28 pounds!
Her advice: "Keep it fresh and fun. You'll find that you can lose, eat good food and have fun at the same time. It is possible."

Now that summer is here, follow more of Joy's tips to stay on the healthy track despite whatever temptations get in your way, wherever you might be:
Share your high-calorie foods with other people. Everything is super-sized at these places! Eat before you get there, so that you're not hungry and tempted by junk food. Finally, walk around! Use a fitness tracker to motivate yourself to get your steps in.

Shonda Rhimes hated the attention she got after losing weight – Fox News
Anyone who's lost a significant amount of weight knows just how many unwarranted compliments weight loss can bring from friends and strangers, alike. And Shonda Rhimes, who has lost a fair amount of weight over the last few years, knows these comments all too well.
In the latest edition of her Shondaland newsletter, the Scandal and Grey's Anatomy showrunner talks about how she felt after a purely physical change sparked a sudden increase in attention from everyone around her.
"Women I barely knew gushed. And I mean GUSHED. Like I was holding-a-new-baby-gushed. Only there was no new baby. It was just me. In a dress. With makeup on and my hair all did, yes. But...still the same me," Rhimes shared, per EW. "And men? They spoke to me. THEY SPOKE TO ME. Like stood still and had long conversations with me about things. It was disconcerting."
But even more disconcerting, according to Rhimes, was that all these people "suddenly felt completely comfortable" talking to her about her body. They told her she looked pretty or "so hot now." They said they were proud of her and told her she looked amazing.
"After I lost weight, I discovered that people found me valuableworth of conversation," she shared. "I discovered that NOW people saw me as a PERSON. What the hell did they see me as before?...What value did they put on my presence at a party, a lunch, a discussion?" Rhimes was frustrated by the fact that she received so much more respect only after she'd lost weight. "Being thinner doesn't make you a different person," she wrote. "It just makes you thinner."
Unfortunately, Rhimes is right: Sizeism is still alive and well. Too often, anyone larger than a sample size (0-8) is seen as an object of ridicule, the punchline to a joke or a charity case to be taken care of. And Rhimes isn't the only one to draw attention to this issue lately. Actress Gabourey Sidibe recently told Refinery29 that she's tired of people congratulating her on her own weight loss. "My body actually has nothing to do with you," Sidibe said. "I don't really need your support for it. It seems ill-placed."

1. Don't just cut carbs - add fiber.
Adding fiber to your diet promotes a healthy guy bacteria which helps absorb a lot of bloating that happens in your stomach region.

Being a bridesmaid is pretty straight forward, right? Help your bestie"say yes to the dress", be there to talk venues and colour schemes, arrange a rocking hen's night, wear whatever lovely gown she's selected for her bridal party - and help her go to the bathroom, in her dress, on her big day.
Well, that's how it used to be. According to a recent article in theNew York Post,in2017 being a bridesmaid can bea whole lot more complicated - and apparently social media is to blame.
In the quest to achieve a picture-perfect, Instagram-worthy wedding, brides are routinely asking their friends, their nearest and dearest, to lose weight. Yep, just let that one sink in slowly.
Take 30-year-old Ashley Barton, who "suggested" all her bridesmaids get fit for her big day. Oh,and that they also use hair extensions. One of her bridesmaids just gave birth, too. Barton toldthe publication the new mumcould "stand to drop a few pounds".
"I need everyone on board," she said. "I want my guests to invest in their appearances, feel pretty, go buy the dress of their dreams and feel confident in themselves. I want everyone to feel and look beautiful."
Sadly, Barton'snot aBridezillaanomaly. Bride-to-beWhitney Tingle, 31, is also encouraging herbestiesto lose weight ahead of her nuptials, via special - and not at all cheap - "clean eating"diet plans.
And two years ago, a young woman'sredditpostwent viral after she shared that her friendhad issued a similar request, to ensure her bridesmaids looked "consistent".
"Yesterday, (the bride)took me aside and directly said to me that she wants me to try to drop a 'dress size or two'before the wedding because she wants all of the bridesmaids to, her words, 'have a consistent look'and I am 'noticeablyheavier' than the other bridesmaids," the distressedReddituser posted.
In addition, while bridal parties of yesteryear might have splashed out on a pre-weddingmani/pedi, a bonding session ahead of the big day, these days plastic surgeons are seeing bridal parties come in for bonding fillers and botox.
"It's the bride's day, and she wants not only the day to be perfect, the weather to be perfect, the dress to be perfect she wants her bridal party to be perfect because it's a reflection of her," said plastic surgeon Norman Rowe.
Oh dear me.
I can completely understand why women wantto look their best when they say "I do". That's a bride's prerogative. It's not breaking news that mostwomen exercise or diet or growtheir fringes outin the lead-up to their big day. But to expect yourfriends to adhere to what you, personally, consider "perfect"or "beautiful" or "ideal" is blisteringly unfair. And, to be frank, just flat-out wrong.
I mean sure, if your mates want to get on board withyour bridal boot camp and green juice cleanses for their own health, and having a goal to work towards ishelpful, then that's a completely different story. But otherwise, honestly, the mind boggles. Our friends are our friends because we love who they are - not what theylook like.
There is nothing reasonable or OK or understandable about asking your bridesmaids to lose weight foryourwedding. Do what you want for your special day. Ride in on a unicorn, dance to "Endless Love",rap your wedding vows - whatever floats your boat.
But for the love of confetti, don't ask your bridesmaids to change who they are, beyond asking them to wear taffeta and pink nail polish.
Because that's worse than being aBridezilla. It's just plain rude.
And surely it's not worthtorching a friendshipfor a few extra likes onInstagram.

This is Lottie LAmour.
Shes a plus size, body positive fashion blogger who models in everything from bikinis to jumpsuits.
As such, shes not bothered about losing weight. Shes owning her body and spends her time promoting positive self image.
And shes big on the body positive circuit so youd think that any TV researcher thinking of asking her to take part in any project would be aware of what she stands for, bearing in mind that her social media channels are literally dedicated to promoting plus size beauty.
But apparently not.
Because a TV production company recently got in touch with her to ask if shed want to take part in a new dieting show and she wasnt happy.
Twofour emailed Lottie to ask if she wanted to take part in Save Money, Good Health a new show where contestants road-test new diets.
They were looking for people who would actively like to lose weight and are open to trialing out a new diet.
Unfortunately, they managed to leave the wrong name in the email,saying Hi Gloria (because theyd contacted several other plus size bloggers including YouTuber Gloria Shuri Henry).
They clearly also hadnt bothered to do any research about Lottie to even think that shed want to be involved.
Clearly you havent read my blog, she wrote.
I dont want to go on a faddy show about diet culture. I believe that women can feel good in whatever skin they are in and that diet culture is a money making scheme that hinges on making people feel terrible about who they are
Its frankly disgusting that youve obviously gone looking for plus-size bloggers thinking you will find fat women that would want to lose weight not all fatties want to lose weight, we are not easy prey for diet culture. If you had read my blog you would know this.
And she posted a follow-up on Instagram a few days later along side a picture of her in a bikini, not giving two f*cks.
It was so obvious that this researcher had just gone looking for plus size bloggers, assuming that because we are fat, we automatically want to lose weight, she said.
Not all fat women want to lose weight just as not all fat women want to stay the weight they are. Assuming that because we are fat we must want to lose weight is piss poor.
We dont have to be a before photo all the time our bodies deserve to be visible without assumption that we are working to get thinner. Some of us arent, some of us are working to love the skin we are in because we are deserving of it. My body is beautiful, and so is yours in whatever state of weight loss or not.

Eventually Twofour did apologise to Lottie, saying that the reason theyd got in touch with her was because (she) has a voice and is not afraid of speaking (her) mind which is something (they) look for and admire in contributors, especially in this series when (they) want people to take part in some health trials.
We understand not everyone wants to lose weight but we are contacting people far and wide on the internet and vloggers are a huge influence on getting messages out to their followers.
So at least theyre honest about the fact that all they care about are numbers.

(CNN) Are you trying to lose weight, but struggling to achieve your goals? Experts say getting enough sleep is the key to successful weight loss.
The first reason may seem obvious. If youre asleep, then youre not eating a cheeseburger or ice cream! But theres more to it than that.
According to studies, a lack of sleep can increase the hormone that stimulates appetite. So that means people who havent gotten enough zzzzs might feel more hunger than those who did.
The National Sleep Foundation says most adults should get at least seven hours of sleep a night with some people needing as many as nine.

You were just about at your goal weight, but then those last five pounds just keep lingering. Dont they know theyve overstayed their welcome? How rude.
If youve been in a clean-eating zone and youre spending more time with your spin instructor than your spouse, but you just cant shake those last few pounds, you may need to do a little digging to find out what's going on. Here are six things to think about:
You were diligent when it came to losing 20 pounds (or 10 pounds), and youre just as focused now, so what gives? Those pesky last five pounds can often be the toughest and you may need to take it up a notch. Yes, even more.
No, you don't have to start counting calories or drinking only lemon water, but when it comes to dropping the last few pounds, even the piece of candy here (perhaps while getting a manicure?) to the extra bites of chocolate there (think chocolates on your pillow) can make a world (or five pounds) of a difference.
How to take note of these mindless quick treats? Food journal like its your job. Write down everything and you will likely find those places where extras are sneaking in. Already have a diet that rivals a fitness model's daily meals? Try switching up your workout to something new.
Theres a lot of science that shows your gut health can majorly affect your overall health. What does this mean for weight loss? Healthy gut equals a healthy bod, making sure that all systems are a "go" for getting rid of those last few pounds. The best way to do it? Eating as many fibrous veggies (microbes feast on the prebiotic fiber) and fermented foods as possible is key (think sauerkraut, kimchi and kefir), and consider taking a high-quality probiotic, since it can also benefit your digestive and immune systems.
Sleep is important for weight loss (and living a healthy life) as is eating from an empowered place and adding sweat sessions to your weekly routine. The research is pretty clear. If youre not getting enough zzzs (or enough quality zzzs) it could be the one factor holding you back from shedding those last few pounds.
Create a bedtime routine that you can do every night. Your mind will begin to get used to preparing for bed, helping your body feel more ready to relax and sleep. This could include having a cup of chamomile tea, lavender bath or even taking a magnesium supplement.
Excess and added sugars hide in all forms under the wrapping of most packaged foods. This one sneaky ingredient can be whats holding you back from feeling amazing after zipping up that little black dress. Do your own sugar detox. Read your labels and avoid all added sugar (yes, even your jarred pasta sauce, yogurt and ketchup are culprits of sneaking in the sweet stuff). Eat as many whole, real, unprocessed foods as possible and youll automatically be reducing your added sugar intake.
A diet laden with sodium causes your body to retain water. You know that feeling after a sushi meal? Yes, bloating and sluggishness, but the puffy feeling that lasts into the next morning is water retention. The last few pounds of weight youre trying your hardest to get rid of could be caused solely by fluid. Getting rid of it for good can make all of the difference in how good you feel when you throw on your favorite jeans in the morning.
Toss the salt shaker and hit the spice rack to your heart's content. High-sodium culprits include canned soup and cured meats like deli meat, which also contain nitrates (compounds that cause inflammation). If meat is a staple in your diet, skip the deli slices and grill your own at home with a low-sodium marinade, or use spices to make your own dry rub.
This is the easiest way to feel empowered eating until youre satisfied without piling on excess unwanted calories. Youll also reap the benefits of antioxidants from these nutrient-rich foods. Non-starchy vegetables are also water dense, meaning that youll get the extra dose of hydration, which keeps your metabolism revving at full speed, and that much closer to losing those last five pounds.
