The 7 Fastest Ways to a Flat Belly After 50 – Eat This, Not That

Aging brings on plenty of changes to your body, one of which may be an increase in belly fat. This is also referred to as "android obesity," says Amy Goodson, MS, RD, CSSD, LD, a board-certified specialist in sports dietetics, the author of The Sports Nutrition Playbook, and a member of our Medical Expert Board. Excess abdominal fat is so dangerous because that's where your organs are located. Belly fat can typically increase insulin resistance, putting you at a greater risk of suffering from diabetes. In order to stay in good health and great shape, following just the right exercise routine and diet is crucial. Goodson shares some of the fastest ways to a flat belly after 50 so you can deflate the flab.

Keep reading to learn more, and gear up to reclaim your midsection. And next, be sure to check out 6 Tips for Women To Lose Belly Fat & Keep It Off.

Interval cardio, also known as high-intensity interval training (HIIT), can help speed up the calorie burn without spending a ton of time at the gym. A HIIT workout is typically set up with quick bursts of intense physical activity, like jumping, cycling, or sprinting, with little breaks to rest in between. "The best part is that it can be completed in as little as 20 minutes, which makes it easier to fit into even the busiest of schedules," Goodson says.

Real talk: Fiber is a key part of any healthy diet. Plus, it can support your flat belly goals by making you feel fuller for longer. Research even shows that the more soluble fiber you eat, the greater reduction in visceral fat you'll see.

"Sources of soluble fiber include whole grains such as oats or barley, legumes, and fruits where you can eat the skin. No extra time is requiredsimply swap your grain for a whole grain, and include fruit [in your] snacks," Goodson says.

Just like fiber, protein keeps you full long after the meal is done and helps decrease your appetite. "Protein has also been shown to elevate metabolism because it takes more effort for the body to digest. Plus, protein is important for maintaining muscle mass during periods of weight loss," Goodson adds.

You can easily add protein to snacks and meals throughout your day. Examples include fish, meat, poultry, dairy, eggs, and beans. Whipping up a tasty protein shake with whey protein is a seamless way to amp up your intake if you find it difficult to add protein to other meals.

Goodson encourages you to "swap your sip" if you want to get a flat belly after 50. Beverages like sweet tea, sodas, fruit juice, energy drinks, and alcoholic drinks with mixers are jam-packed with unnecessary calories and added sugars. Plus, these sips offer little nutrients (if they have any at all).

"Try swapping fruit juices for whole fruits to reap the benefits of added fiber and swap sodas for low-calorie flavored carbonated waters," Goodson suggests.

Creating a calorie deficit is a critical part of losing weight and burning belly fat. This essentially means taking in fewer calories than you torch. "Sometimes, people may underestimate how many calories they consume in a day, especially with snacks and beverages," Goodson explains. "It can be beneficial to track your intake for a short period of time, such as one to two weeks, to monitor your calorie intake, increase your awareness, and identify any sources of excess calories to cut back on."

Getting enough solid rest can aid in your weight loss efforts and help you achieve the flat belly you desire. How so? As Goodson puts it, "Chronic lack of sleep can be detrimental [to your] overall health. Research suggests that sleep deprivation may even make you feel hungrier by impacting hormones that increase your appetite and contribute to weight gain. Studies have shown that improving your sleep health may be associated with improved weight and fat loss."

According to the Sleep Foundation, adults 18 and up should aim for seven or more hours of solid sleep each night. Habits that can help boost your sleep hygiene include going to sleep at the same time every night, turning your blue light devices off, avoiding caffeinated beverages before you hit the sheets, and finding just the right supportive mattress.6254a4d1642c605c54bf1cab17d50f1e

Don't underestimate the power of drinking enough H2O. "Being dehydrated can contribute to constipation, which may lead to bloating and make the stomach appear larger than it is," Goodson tells us. "Drinking water can help minimize bloating and water retention. Water also might also help with weight loss by helping you feel fuller at meals and eat [fewer] calories."

Squats can give you strong core, legs and glutes. When it is performed under the right guidance, you can proceed to jump squats and single leg squats.

How to do squats

To do squats, place your feet shoulder width apart while keeping your chest and back straight. Hinge forward, driving your hips back. Bend your knees in a way that your hips come in line with your knees. Your thighs need to be parallel to the ground. Rise up while maintaining equal pressure on your feet. As you do it, squeeze your buttock in.

Push ups is definitely a hard exercise to perform as the bodys entire weight is loaded on the shoulders, says the expert. But it is one way to work on building your upper body strength.

How to do push ups

Start your push ups with your hands wider than shoulder width apart either on the floor or the wall. Go slow and begin to lower your body. Treat it as a single unit from your head to ankle or knee. Once you reach your maximum range, exhale. Then push back up as a single unit again. Think of making a triangle using your hands that are on the ground and your nose. So, drop your chest in between your palms and not your nose, which is a few inches ahead. Ensure that your elbows are not pushing out.

Doing the glute bridge on a regular basis can help to reduce hip pain.

How to do glute bridge exercise

Lie on the ground on your back while keeping your knees bent and feet parallel to each other, hip distance apart. Just keep your hands by your side. As you engage your core, squeeze your glutes. Then lift your hips up. There should be a natural arch in your lower back while doing so. Squeeze at the top and release down slowly. Exhale as you squeeze up, inhale at the top and exhale as you lower.

It helps strengthen the core and is good for those with arthritis.

Begin with lying on your back. Your legs should be upto table top position.Hands should be straight up facing the ceiling. While maintaining a normal arch in your back, extend your opposite hand and leg towards the floor. Come back to the starting posting and then change your limbs.

You can try doing mountain climbers as it is a complete body workout.

How to do mountain climbers

Begin in an elbow plank on a chair, with legs on the floor. Go slow and tuck one knee in towards your chest. Take it back out and alternate your legs. You need to focus on pushing away from the ground. Keep maximum space between your ears and shoulders, but dont shrug. Squeeze your lower belly when you bring your leg closer towards your chest. Squeeze your glutes as you take your leg out.

Exercising is good, but always remember to listen to your body, and not push beyond even the slightest bit of discomfort.

Weight Loss Vs Fat Loss: What Is The Difference? Which One Is … – NDTV Food

Obesity and over-weight are two major health concerns across the globe. It is also established that losing just five to 10 percent of your excess weight can pull you back from the health issues that furthersnowballs intochronic metabolic syndrome affecting your life, family and the community overall. With the busy urban lifestyles, we can see a huge change in our eating pattern. The habit of exercising regularly has also decreased. As a result, we started putting on weight, which as a result is driving a thriving business community - all trying to provide quick and easy solution to lose extra kilos. This brings the question - is just losing weight enough or do we need to lose fat as well? Does losing fat translate into weight loss? What is different and why can we not do both together? To understand it all, we need to first know the science behind it.

Weight is the sum total of all within the human body. It is measured in kg or pounds. WHO and other scientific communities have, based on population studies, recommended weight for height.

As the scientific evidence pointed to the fact that overweight and obesity were a major contributor to various diseases, they developed a Body Mass Index (BMI), which is a ratio of weight to height squared. BMI helps classify various stages from over weight to obesity to morbid obesity. This is at the best a guideline to the weight range healthy for your height.

Normal BMI: 18.0-22.9 kg/m2, Overweight: 23.0-24.9 kg/m2, Obesity: >25 kg/m2

Further scientific evidence pointed to an increased risk to health depending on your body shape. So, waist / hip ratio was defined as a marker for intervention.

Less than 1.0 in men and less than 0.85 in women indicates abnormal fat accumulation

It was also found that overall body fat was an important marker for increased incidence of chronic health issues like diabetes, insulin resistance and heart diseases. So, Body Composition Analysis (BCA) was found to be of critical importance in planning the health journey.

To put it simply, our body is made of fat, protein, minerals and water. BMI takes all into consideration, while BCA calculates each individually.

Age wise: 20-39-year age group should be 8-19% for men and 21-32% for women

40-59-year age group should be 11-21% for men and 23-33% for women

60-79-year age group should be 13-24%, and for women should be 24-35%

Losing weight, that is total weight, has been the focus of most individuals. The basic premise is that when you control the food intake to a level where in a negative calorie balance is achieved, weight will come down. The formula used here is that a daily negative balance of 500 Kcal translates to 3500 Kcal/ week, which is the amount needed to lose 0.5 kg/ week a healthy weight loss. This negative balance can be created by reducing 200-300 Kcal from your food and another 200-300 through exercise.

This is a gentle weight loss, which is sustainable and it focuses on a balanced diet from all food groups, eliminating empty calories. It focuses on overall healthy life style and has many benefits.

In addition to overall weight loss, there may be healthy muscle loss too, if the macro nutrients are not well planned. Negative energy balance diets do not focus on fat loss.

Fat is an essential part of body composition. It is present as essential fat, which is present in bones, liver, kidneys, intestines and muscle and is critical for the functioning of the body. The other type of fat is storage fat, which is found in the adipose tissue. It surrounds the organs and provides cushion to them. It also insulates the body, maintaining temperature. Excess food intake results in the body converting it to stored fat. Diet that focuses on fat loss focuses on overall calories with emphasis on the correct amount of Macros, especially proteins, moderate healthy carbs and fats, and timing of each of these.

It is well established in terms of improved insulin resistance, lower risks of cardiovascular diseases, diabetes and improved overall health.

It needs constant monitoring and focus. Losing fat can be tedious and the regaining of weight and fat is a reality on deviation.

Weight is a health issue, but losing fat is definitely more advantageous for health. However, overall weight loss is also good. So first get all your body composition numbers, consult a qualified nutritionist, plan and set your goals and follow them judiciously.

Viral 40-pound cat adopted by owner committed to his weight loss – Insider

Patches the cat weighs over 40 pounds. Richmond Animal Care and Control/Facebook

A 40.3-pound cat that went viral because of its enormous size has been adopted by an owner committed to helping him lose weight.

Richmond Animal Care and Control in Virginia shared a photo of Patches the cat on Wednesday, looking to find a home for him.

"Did you wake up today and say, "Let's adopt the largest cat anyone has ever seen"? If so, we have the cat for you," the shelter wrote on Facebook.

The shelter said that the cat is "very sweet" and on a special diet and an exercise plan and that they were looking for an owner who would help him get to a healthy weight.

"Until then, we will marvel at his gloriously gluttonous body!" the shelter wrote.

Workers at the shelter told Today.com that the cat weighed 42 pounds when he first came in and was initially timid before coming out of his shell.

"We were all shocked by his size. He's definitely the largest cat any of our staff has ever seen," the shelter's outreach coordinator Robin Young told the outlet.

On Friday, the post was updated to confirm that Patches, aged six, has now been adopted, along with a photo of the large feline with his new owner, local woman Kay Ford.

The shelter told Good Morning America that it received hundreds of inquiries from around the country after the Facebook post went viral, but they ultimately decided Ford was the best fit.

Ford told GMA that she had her heart set on the animal as soon as she saw the photo of him.

"My daughter sent me the post yesterday morning, and she said, 'This is your moment.' And I clicked on the picture, and I went, 'Oh my gosh, I have to have Patches. I just have to have Patches,'" Ford said.

She described thinking that he was the size of "half of a whiskey barrel" when she saw him in person for the first time.

Ford said she is committed to helping the cat reach a healthy weight. She has set up a Facebook page Patches' Journey to track the hefty cat's progress to a more normal, healthy weight.

"It's going to be a very long process, since he can't lose more than a pound a month and more like between a half a pound and a pound a month. So if he needs to lose 20, 25 pounds, it's going to be a long journey," Ford said.

The grandmother of two told GMA that she was thrilled to take Patches home.

"He's very easy to fall in love with," she said. "I truly feel incredibly blessed that I was the chosen one."

In previous editions of the Guinness World Records book, he heaviest cat of all, was Himmy, from Australia, who weighed 46lb 15 oz when it died on 12th March 1986 at the age of 10 years 4 months.

Want to lose weight without hitting the gym? These tips are all you need for your workout plan at home – mid-day.com

If you have been wondering about how to lose weight at home, you have arrived at the right destination. We have experts sharing tips that will surely help you lose weight

Image for representational purpose only. Photo Courtesy: istock

Home workouts have become a go-to for many who are reluctant to spend a large sum of money on gym memberships. Hitting the gym is no longer quintessential to losing weight. While it is totally possible to lose weight by working out at home, many individuals seldom know the right way to go about it. If you are looking to embark on a weight-loss journey through home workouts, you have arrived at the right destination.

Mid-day online brings to you tips from experts that will help you in your weight loss journey from within the comfort of your home.

Dr Meenal Kulkarni, a physiotherapist with more than 20 years of experience in the healthcare industry speaks largely about the right ways to workout at home and Dr Rohini Patil, MBBS and certified nutritionist with over eight years of experience in the field of diet and nutrition sheds light on the role diet plays in the process of losing weight.

Basics of exercising at home When starting out, you should perform exercises which are less intense and gradually upgrade the workout sessions as per one*s endurance level, says Kulkarni. You must start by incorporating cardio exercises like jumping jacks and T jumps in order to improve your endurance capacity and later start with intermediate workouts followed by a core strengthening programme.

When working out at home, it is very important to perform the exercises correctly since home workouts rob you of the personal attention of a professional gym trainer or fitness coach. The lack of professional guidance can result in performing exercises incorrectly. Wrong movements during exercise can end up causing injuries. A lot of people start with heavy exercises like crunches with 5 to 6 sets right from the beginning. This can cause severe harm to your back as well as your abdominal muscles. The most common mistake people make when working out at home is neglecting post-workout stretching exercises to relax the muscles.

Lunges, planks, jumping jacks, crunches, and hip movements are some exercises you can start with, Kulkarni suggests. Initially, you won*t need any exercise equipment, but once you undertake advanced-level exercises, you can invest in equipment like resistance bands, and weights.

According to Kulkarni, the best time to work out is in the early morning for over 30 to 60 minutes depending on the person*s endurance level.

Treating post-workout muscle pain We all experience gnawing pain after we start exercising, even if it is at home. Kulkarni suggests warm-up and cool-down exercises pre and post-workout sessions.

This helps the body in dealing well with the rapid movements of the exercises. You can also make use of ice packs to soothe sore muscles after the workout. An ice bath is the best to reduce soreness. Along with that, an adequate amount of rest and relaxed sitting and sleeping positions are also a key.

Common misconceptions about home workouts Though staying fit should be the main goal when trying to reduce weight, there are still some individuals who stress their bodies beyond capacity to build a certain body type as they believe that is the right way to go about it. People have these common misconceptions regarding weight loss. Some of them include: Exercising rigorously speeds up the weight loss process, starving yourself guarantees weight loss and slimming pills are a game changer in the weight loss journey.

Kulkarni says, "It is wrong to expect quick results when losing weight. You should be consistent with your workout to gain the desired results. I believe one should have a strong metabolism as it greatly helps one lose weight. Following a fad diet has the chance of causing poor metabolism in individuals.

Making the necessary lifestyle changes also helps Kulkarni suggests getting a minimum of 7 to 8 hours of daily sleep, drinking plenty of water, eating high protein breakfast, exposing yourself to morning sunlight and consuming four meals a day. Incorporating these habits into your daily lifestyle aids weight loss.

Alternatives to working out If you are someone who does not like working out but wishes to lose weight, you can also do the following: Brisk walking Swimming Cycling Breathing exercises

Your weight loss efforts are worthless if your workout is not complemented with the right diet. Nutritionist Patil says, "When you are working out at home, the most important thing about having food is to make sure the quality of it is supporting your workout regime. For example, you might need more calories and protein if the intensity of your workout is high."

Consuming the right kind of food in the right way When on a weight loss journey without professional help, you must focus on whole foods, minimise consuming processed foods, and limit the intake of simple sugars. Further, many people complain of energy loss or exhaustion when they start working out. To regain strength, you can have a combination of high-quality protein with healthy fats. You can also hydrate yourself with electrolytes like lemon water with a pinch of pink salt. The nutritionist suggests gulping down a beverage like nimbu pani (lime water) 30 minutes before working out to help gain a quick energy boost.

Patil lists down foods you should eat and avoid:

Foods to eat Lean protein Ghee Lentils Nuts and oil seeds Cooked vegetables Leafy greens Whole eggs Flaxseeds Sprouts

Foods to avoid Packed foods with sugars Deep-fried items Refined vegetable oil Soda

It is natural to feel hungry during the day. Instead of munching on unhealthy snack, the nutritionist suggests healthy alternatives like soaked nuts, pumpkin seeds, flaxseeds and makhanas.

A false belief among many about diet and exercise Patil says, "While regular exercise can be beneficial for weight management and overall health, it*s not necessarily true that you can eat anything and everything if you work out daily. Calories consumed and burned are two different things. Exercise can help you burn calories and increase your metabolism, but consuming more calories than you burn can still lead to weight gain."

Further, the quality of the food you eat also matters. Eating a diet high in processed foods and saturated fats, even if you work out regularly, can still negatively impact your health and increase the risk of chronic diseases. It*s also important to listen to your body and eat when you are hungry while stopping when you feel satisfied.

To achieve optimal health and weight management, it*s important to maintain a balanced and nutritious diet, along with regular exercise.

An Extreme Risk of Taking Ozempic: Malnutrition – The New York Times

Almost immediately after starting Ozempic, a diabetes medication known for inducing weight loss, Renata Lavach-Savy, 37, a medical writer in North Bergen, N.J., was left without any semblance of appetite. She started setting alarms to remind herself to eat. She was so exhausted that even after 10 hours of sleep, she would collapse onto her couch after work, unable to move.

She left purses and clothes strewn across her bedroom floor, because she was so queasy all the time and worried that bending down to pick them up would make her vomit. Four months later, Ms. Lavach-Savys dietitian told her thatshe might be malnourished.

Ms. Lavach-Savy was shocked. How can I be malnourished? Im over 200 pounds, she recalled thinking. She stopped taking Ozempic last fall.

Her doctor originally recommended Ozempic because Ms. Lavach-Savy had polycystic ovary syndrome, a hormonal condition that often occurs alongside insulin resistance. The weekly injections led to constant, low-level nausea, a squiggle of sickness in her stomach. She lost all desire to eat.

Severe cases like Ms. Lavach-Savys are rare, experts say. But some people taking Ozempic can experience such intense lack of appetite that they do become malnourished, said Dr. Andrew Kraftson, a clinical associate professor in the division of metabolism, endocrinology and diabetes at Michigan Medicine. Doctors say it is important that people are given clear guidance on proper diet and nutrition while on the medication. People who experience extreme outcomes from the medication may need to stop taking it altogether.

You cant eat what you feel like or what you want, Ms. Lavach-Savy said in describing what it was like to be on the medication. You have to eat what your body will accept.

Ozempic works, in part, by blocking the brains hunger signals, suppressing appetite; it also causes the stomach to empty more slowly, leading people to feel full for longer.

When people are on a drug like Ozempic, doctors need to monitor them closely with regular check-ins, Dr. Kraftson said. He recommends a daily caloric intake typically between 1,000 and 1,500 calories, individualized based on a persons starting weight and estimated metabolism for his patients and counsels them on their diets to ensure theyre getting enough nutrients.

Were not trying to make you vanish into nothingness, he said. If people are unable to eat enough while on the drug, he decreases the dose or tells them to stop taking the medication altogether.

No standard nutritional guidelines have yet been established for patients taking Ozempic or other medications that work similarly, like Wegovy and Mounjaro. Doctors usually give similar dietary recommendations to people taking drugs like Ozempic and other patients who are trying to lose weight or who have diabetes, said Dr. Robert Gabbay, the chief scientific and medical officer of the American Diabetes Association. That means following a diet that is high in fruits, vegetables and fiber, like the Mediterranean diet, said Dr. Janice Jin Hwang, the division chief of endocrinology and metabolism at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine.

Avoiding high-fat foods is also critical, because they can make people taking Ozempic feel uncomfortably, even painfully full, Dr. Gabbay said. He urges people to eat slowly and pause halfway through a meal, assessing how full they actually are. You could power through a cheeseburger and fries in five minutes, he said. But wow, are you going to feel like you way overate.

People taking Ozempic tend to lose weight because they consume fewer calories, not because the drug itself magically burns fat, Dr. Gabbay said. Ifpatients dontregularly meet withtheir doctors to ensure they are getting adequate nutrition, these medications could lead to, or exacerbate, disordered eating, Dr. Kraftson said.

While scientists are still trying to understand how Ozempic affects the brain, a known side effect is that peoples cravings can change. Ozempic contains semaglutide, which mimics a hormone called glucagon-like peptide-1; when people take the drug, higher levels of that hormone flood the receptors in our brain that regulate our eating behaviors, Dr. Hwang said, changing how our neurons transmit signals to the rest of our body. Just as some people lose interest in once-beloved foods after bariatric surgery, those taking Ozempic often find that they no longer crave foods that are high in fat and sugar both because their appetite decreases overall and potentially because of those neural changes, Dr. Hwang said.

When youre given a choice of a salad versus fried chicken, it just becomes a little easier to make those healthy choices, she said.

However, people taking these medications need to be aware of the complications that can arise from having little to no appetite. Its never healthy to not eat, Dr. Hwang said.

Luke Combs Credits Fatherhood With Motivating Him to Lose Weight – – Everything Nash

Luke Combs has a lot of reasons for wanting to lose weight, including his son, Tex, and his upcoming baby boy, due this fall. The Grand Ole Opry member has been vocal about wanting to get healthy, saying now that a lot of his motivation is for his family.

I want to be running around the yard with my children, Combs said on the Joe Rogan Experience (via Music Mayhem). I want to take my son on an elk hunt when hes 16 years old and hike up a mountain when Im in my late 40s. [I] wanna do that with him. And I know right now I cant do that with him, and that bugs the sh out of me.

By his own admission, Combs has struggled with his weight his entire life, never able to maintain a healthy weight, even though it is something he has wanted for years.

I think my physical fitness, and my appearance, and my size has always been something that I struggled with, from the time I was a child, Combs acknowledged. And its this mountain that Ive always been standing at the bottom of, trying to run up but then inherently slipping down every time.

And its this thing that I feel like if I dont overcome it in my lifetime, it will be my biggest regret, without a doubt, he adds.

Combs has accomplished more than any other artist in country music history, with 15 consecutive chart-topping singles. He is currently on his World Tour, and is the reigning CMA Entertainer of the Year. But for all that he has done, the 33-year-old says losing weight is the one thing he wishes he could do, but has yet to be able to accomplish.

It is a burden that weighs so heavily on me, Combs conceded. And not because I care what other people think about me, about the way I look, about my size or any of that. Its because what I feel like it means about me as a man. Theres this thing that I want to accomplish that is solely up to me, nobody else can do it for me, nobody did this to me. I want so badly to conquer that, and I will.

This isnt the first time that Combs has opened up about his desire to lose weight. Last summer, the North Carolina native revealed his struggle to shed excess pounds,

It was always something thats bugged me, Combs admited to Zane Lowe onApple Music.Because especially when youre younger, youre like, Man, I just got a horrible genetic dice roll on this thing. You start to realize that almost even more when youre older and its like, not that I dont pig out because I do pig out. Im not trying to say its not my fault, because it is in a lot of ways. But also, I got to this point where Im like, Id really love to trim down. And its so hard for me to do that. Not from the execution standpoint. I know what to do and how to do it.

Combs recently made headlines for announcing he was opening a new bar and music venue, in the place where the Wildhorse Saloon now stands. The new place is expected to be opened by the summer of 2024.

Bryce Dallas Howard explained in her Goop.com essay that she had put on 80 pounds during her pregnancy. She wrote, "Before Theo was born, I had been in good humor about my 80-pound weight gain, but I was now mortified by it. I felt I was failing at breast-feeding. My house was a mess. I believed I was a terrible dog owner. I was certain I was an awful actress; I dreaded a film I was scheduled to shoot only a few weeks after the birth because I could barely focus enough to read the script."

The actress continued, "And worst of all, I definitely felt I was a rotten mothernot a bad one, a rotten one. Because the truth was, every time I looked at my son, I wanted to disappear."

Anyone who has had postpartum depression can sadly understand exactly what Howard was writing about. Every time someone shares their postpartum story, it helps other moms a lot. It's easy to think that many people were helped by Bryce Dallas Howard's words on Goop.com.

In October 2022, she spoke more about her depression in an Instagram post. It was World Mental Health Day and she wanted her fans to know that she had suffered but been able to feel better.

Howard said "Battling depression has been the biggest challenge to my identity. Im energetic, enthusiastic, passionate and I have this big ole belly laugh!"

Howard explained that she was "hyper-focused on blocking negative thoughts" and that it's necessary to feel every feeling. She said that these are "integral to the human experience." Those who have also had depression can unfortunately relate to having trouble facing those kinds of feelings. But Howard is definitely right that the only way to get through it is to be honest.

Depression can sometimes lead to weight changes, and according to Healthline.com, it can be tough to eat and that can mean losing weight. While it seems that Bryce Dallas Howard's weight was affected by her postpartum depression, she was asked to lose some pounds for a different reason.

Bryce Dallas Howard said that movie executives wanted her to lose weight for Jurassic World Dominion. According to an interview that the actress did with Metro.co.uk, she said, "What being in this third film allowed, how do I say this, how do I say this, how do I say this[Ive] been asked to not use my natural body in cinema."

Howard said that she didn't lose weight for the role and explained, "I got to do so many stunts that wouldnt have been possible if I had been dieting."

Bryce Dallas Howard has experienced some changes in her weight. One reason for this? She put on 35 pounds for a part in a TV series. According to Men's Journal, she put on this weight to play Lacie in the season 3 episode of Black Mirror called "Nosedive."

The episode takes the concept of social media likes to a dark place. In the world that is depicted here, people rate one another. Lacie starts to care too much about what people are rating her. At first, it seems like this will work in her favor, as she wants to get a better rating so she can find a nice apartment. But things fall apart when her best friend Naomi (played by Alice Eve) is getting married and thinks that Lacie, who has a lower rating, will ruin her wedding and shouldn't be there.

Howard told Men's Journal, "I ate around the clock. First thing in the morning, last thing before I closed my eyes. Id have food by my bed. Id get up in the middle of the night and have a chocolate bar."

The actress explained that she got back to the weight that she was before filming Black Mirror with some tough exercise. She told Men's Journal, "I trained a lot, used the rower, did CrossFitthe workouts definitely got really intense. But it was fun. Im like a dogyou have to walk me. I have to go out for my run or Ill chew up the furniture."

Bryce Dallas Howard definitely has a healthy approach to food and weight these days. In December 2022, she explained in an interview with Us Weekly that "dieting is a dirty word" and that she and her husband Seth Gabel want their kids to focus on practices and activities that are "supportive of our health."
