But how much does your body actually need? Here is a quick guide to your daily protein intake. For health your body requires 0.8g of protein per KG of body weight Easily calculated, Take your body weight in KG for example 80kg And multiply by 0.8 = 64g of protein EVERY DAY If you are doing some weight training, even if that #39;s just some squats and lunges you should increase this to 1g per KG of body weight. Which is even easier to calculate. If you are looking to increase your muscle mass or you are a full time athlete then then you can then increase this to between 1.5g and 2g per KG of body weight. And just to give you a general guideline an average portion of protein (fits in palm of hand) whether that is a chicken breast, steak or pawns etc will give you about 30g of protein.
