Jon Gosselin Shares Beach Body Transformation Amid Weight Loss Journey – E! NEWS

Well aware that she's hot in Cleveland, L.A. or wherever else she happens to be, the actress gave her refreshing take on body image with a February Instagram post.

"This is a 150lb body on a 5'4 frame," the Food Network host wrote, sharing a 2014 bikini photo. "I don't weigh myself anymore because this is considered overweight by who's [sic] standards, I don't know. It's stupid and I believed them for far too long."

Fully removed from the pressures of dieting, "I now, finally, know that I am a kind, considerate, funny, thoughtful woman," she continued. "So please remember, who you are and what your character is, should never be overshadowed by what size you are or how much you weigh. You are enough. Just the way you are."

As for anyone that might not agree, she summed up, "F--k em."

This Diet May Help You Live Longer and Save the Planet, Research Finds – AOL

"Hearst Magazines and Yahoo may earn commission or revenue on some items through these links."

[table-of-contents] stripped

The Planetary Health Diet was designed to reduce climate change progression, but it may also help you live longer and promote weight loss.

Research found that the diet may lower your risk of premature death by 30%.

Nutritionists say this is a healthy diet to follow.

Most eating plans focus on helping people improve their well-being and maybe even aid in weight loss. But a new buzzy diet goes a step further: The Planetary Health Diet aims to benefit your health and that of the planet.

The diet is the subject of a new study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition. For the study, researchers analyzed dietary data and health records from more than 206,000 people who were free of cancer, diabetes, and major cardiovascular diseases at the start of the study.

The researchers found that people who closely followed the Planetary Health Diet, which focuses on plant-based foods with a little meat and dairy, had a 30% lower risk of premature death compared to those who didnt follow the diet. They also had a lower risk of dying from cancer, heart disease, and lung disease.

People who followed the diet had a lower environmental impact, with 29% lower greenhouse gas emissions and 51% lower land use, too.

Meet the experts: Walter Willett, M.D., professor of epidemiology and nutrition at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, Jessica Cording, M.S., R.D., author of The Little Book of Game-Changers: 50 Healthy Habits For Managing Stress & Anxiety, Scott Keatley, R.D., co-owner of Keatley Medical Nutrition Therapy, and Keri Gans, R.D.N., author of The Small Change Diet

But what is the Planetary Health Diet and how does it work? Nutritionists explain.

The Planetary Health Diet was first outlined in a 2019 scientific report published in The Lancet by the EAT-Lancet Commission. That report recommended that people follow a mostly plant-based diet for health and sustainability to help feed a global population that keeps growing.

The Planetary Health Diet focuses on eating a range of minimally processed plant foods, but still allows for some meat and dairy foods, according to a press release. Adhering to a Planetary Health Diet can provide a major double win: for personal health now and a more livable planet for future generations, says study co-author Walter Willett, M.D., professor of epidemiology and nutrition at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.

The diet recommends focusing on these foods:

Fruits

Vegetables

Whole grains

Legumes

Nuts

It also makes room for meat and dairy, but at much lower amounts than the other foods. The EAT-Lancet Commission has a handy graphic on its website that breaks down what your plate should look like on the diet.

Based on the eating plan, half of your plate should be fruits and vegetables, about an eighth should be whole grains, another eighth should be plant-based proteins, and very small amountsabout 1/16th of your plateare designated for dairy and animal proteins. Dr. Willett says that the diet allows for optional modest amounts of fish, poultry, and eggs.

The Planetary Health Diet focuses more on the foods you should have vs. ones to avoid. However, the diet recommends minimizing how much red meat, sugar, and refined grains you eat.

Nutritionists say this is an overall healthy eating plan. From a dietary perspective, its a really good balance of nutrients, says Jessica Cording, M.S., R.D., author of The Little Book of Game-Changers: 50 Healthy Habits For Managing Stress & Anxiety. Thats excellent at protecting against cardiovascular disease and cancerall of the things we would expect to see with a plant-based diet.

The meal plan can be healthy, says Scott Keatley, R.D., co-owner of Keatley Medical Nutrition Therapy. It emphasizes a diverse intake of whole and minimally processed foods, which are generally nutrient-rich and beneficial for health, he says.

But, Keatley stresses that plant-based doesnt automatically make a diet healthy. Overconsumption of high-calorie plant-based products, especially those that are heavily processed, can lead to an excessive calorie intake, he says. Foods like nuts, seeds, oils, and some commercially prepared meat substitutes can be very calorie-dense and, if eaten in large quantities, might contribute to weight gain. That can then raise the risk of developing obesity, diabetes, and hypertension, among other things, he says.

Cording praises the diet for allowing for some meat and dairy. When we make a little room for meat and dairy, it makes the diet more approachable, she says.

Ultimately, the Planetary Health Diet promotes nutrient-packed plant-based foods that are associated with a host of benefits, says Keri Gans, R.D.N., author of The Small Change Diet.

Whether you lose weight on the Planetary Health Diet depends a lot on what you were eating before you went on the diet, Cording says. If you were eating a lot of calorie-dense, high saturated fat foods and not a lot of fiber before, switching to more plant-based foods and leaner sources of protein could potentially lead to weight loss, she says. However, Cording stresses that weight loss is not automatic with this eating plan.

Gans agrees. The Planetary Health Diet can help someone lose weight because many plant-based has fewer calories than animal-based ones, she says. However, adhering to portion sizes, especially with nuts and seeds, is still important.

But the focus on whole and minimally processed foods helps, Keatley says. These are generally lower in calories and higher in fiber compared to highly processed foods, he says. This can lead to a natural reduction in calorie intake while increasing satiety.

Theres a lot you can eat with the Planetary Health Diet, and Cording points out that its similar to a Mediterranean diet. If you want to get started with the eating plan, consider these options:

If youre interested in trying this diet, Gans suggests starting slowly. Give yourself plenty of time to adjust, she says. Focus first on what you should eat more of, and by default, the foods you should be limiting will gradually happen on its own.

Weight loss boom is spurring sales of protein, meal replacement products, Vitamin Shoppe CEO says – NBC San Diego

L.L. Bean has just added a third shift at its factory in Brunswick, Maine, in an attempt to keep up with demand for its iconic boot.

Orders have quadrupled in the past few years as the boots have become more popular among a younger, more urban crowd.

The company says it saw the trend coming and tried to prepare, but orders outpaced projections. They expect to sell 450,000 pairs of boots in 2014.

People hoping to have the boots in time for Christmas are likely going to be disappointed. The bootsare back ordered through February and even March.

"I've been told it's a good problem to have but I"m disappointed that customers not getting what they want as quickly as they want," said Senior Manufacturing Manager Royce Haines.

Customers like, Mary Clifford, tried to order boots on line, but they were back ordered until January.

"I was very surprised this is what they are known for and at Christmas time you can't get them when you need them," said Clifford.

People who do have boots are trying to capitalize on the shortage and are selling them on Ebay at a much higher cost.

L.L. Bean says it has hired dozens of new boot makers, but it takes up to six months to train someone to make a boot.

The company has also spent a million dollars on new equipment to try and keep pace with demand.

Some customers are having luck at the retail stores. They have a separate inventory, and while sizes are limited, those stores have boots on the shelves.

The Best 8 Cereals for Weight Loss, Dietitian-Approved – EatingWell

When it comes to convenience, its hard to beat a bowl of cereal. The only problem is that many breakfast cereals are known to be high in sugar and refined carbohydrates. And this might not be the best way to start your day. On the other hand, a well-balanced breakfast is not only good for your overall health but may also support your weight loss efforts. Cereal lovers take heart. There are many good cereal options on the market for weight loss; you just have to know what youre looking for. Here are our top picks for a healthier breakfast cereal for weight loss.

Depending on your personal health goals, there are different factors you should consider when choosing a breakfast cereal. If youre looking to lose weight, heres what we recommend considering before buying:

Although bran cereals arent as exciting as Lucky Charms, they have much to offer nutrition-wise. Fiber One Original Bran is great because it [a cup serving] contains 18 grams of fiberthat is over 50% of your daily recommended amount of fiber intake. Fiber helps to keep you full and aid in digestion. Therefore, this is ideal for someone looking to lose weight. Additionally, there is no added sugar, keeping the calorie count low, says Caitlin Ogletree, M.S., RD, a dietitian based in San Antonio, TX. Score a few extra grams of fiber by adding fruit. My favorite way to eat Fiber One cereal is mixed in with a cup of yogurt and topped with fresh berries.

Although these protein oats have a little more sugar than other options on this list, they make up for it with extra protein and fiber. This cereal has a short and sweet ingredient list of whole foods like oats, almonds and chia seeds. Just one half-cup serving provides 7 grams of fiber, 11 grams of protein and 260 calories. Some research suggests that including whole grains, like oats, in your meals may help you lose weight and prevent long-term weight gain. This high-protein cereal makes a delicious and crunchy topping for cottage cheese or Greek yogurt parfait.

Catalina Crunch is a cereal line created to appeal to those craving nostalgic classics. I love this not only for its nutritional benefits but because it reminds me of a childhood favoriteCinnamon Toast Crunch, says Ogletree. The Catalina Crunch cinnamon toast cereal is a much healthier option that packs 11 grams of protein, 9 grams of fiber and no added sugar [per a half-cupall of which make this an ideal cereal for weight loss. Protein and fiber are the ultimate duo when it comes to keeping you fullyou won't be running to the pantry for a snack an hour after eating this cereal!

Honey-sweetened Kashi Go Original cereal is a great option for those who like the flavor of Honey Nut Cheerios but are looking for a much higher protein and fiber cereal. Kashi Go Original may also appeal to those who want some textural variety since it includes whole-grain puffs, cereal sticks and crispy squares. One serving (1 cup) of Kashi Go provides 11 grams of protein and a whopping 12 grams of hunger-fighting fiber.

For those who love crispy and flakey cereals, try Natures Path Optimum Power Blueberry Cinnamon Flax Cereal. This whole grain cereal offers 8 grams of fiber per 1 cup serving, which will keep you satisfied much longer than many other flakey cereals. This breakfast cereal contains 9 grams of protein, and higher protein choices also help with satiety as well as muscle mass maintenance while trying to lose fat, says Jaime Bachtell-Shelbert, RDN, LDN, founder of Wholly Nourished.

Many healthier cereal options are pretty bland because they dont have tons of added sugar, but this one is packed with flavor from freeze-dried blueberries and cinnamon. Whats more, blueberries have been linked with a variety of health benefits, including improved weight maintenance.

Chickpeas are an unlikely ingredient for a breakfast cereal, but Three Wishes found a way to incorporate them into their lower-sugar, higher-protein cereals. If you are a chocolate lover, the Three Wishes cocoa-flavored grain-free cereal may be your ideal breakfast. One cup of these crunchy os provides 8 grams of plant-based protein from chickpeas and pea protein. They are subtly sweet, with just 3 grams of total sugar per serving.

Its hard to top a classic, which is why Post Grape-Nuts Original cereal remains a staple for those trying to opt for a healthier breakfast cereal. Just cup of this cereal provides 7 grams of fiber, 6 grams of protein and only 5 grams of total sugar. Some people might think that this cereal could use more flavor. If thats you, make your bowl more interesting by pairing this cereal with fresh fruit or serving it as a topping for your morning smoothie bowl or yogurt.

If oatmeal is one of your go-to breakfast options, but you are looking for a little more protein, try Bobs Red Mill Protein Oats. Research has shown that oats can help you manage your weight. Surprisingly, this product only has one ingredientoats. Yet, it contains a conventionally bred variety of oats that are higher in protein. One -cup serving of these protein oats provides 10 grams of protein versus 6 grams per serving for regular rolled oats. Make these oats with milk and top with nuts or nut butter to add even more protein and fiber or try one of these savory oatmeal recipes with added protein from cheese or eggs.

If you are trying to lose weight and have written off breakfast cereals as a healthy option, were here to tell you that you can definitely enjoy a bowl of cereal and still reach your weight loss goals. However, we recommend double-checking the nutrition label and choosing cereals high in fiber and protein with little added sugar. Start your day with any of the eight cereal picks, and youll be well on your way to meeting your daily fiber and protein needs (while also fending off the mid-morning munchies).

Weight loss pill by Structure Therapeutics sees strong trial results – Quartz

One study found that about 67% of patients taking Structure Therapeuticss pill lost over 6% of their weight and about 33% lost over 10% of their weight. Image: Trevor Williams ( Getty Images )

Structure Therapeutics stock jumped 65% to $56 per share on Monday after the biopharmaceutical company released promising clinical trial results for its experimental weight loss pills. Its the latest development in the race among several pharmaceutical companies to introduce new weight loss drug alternatives to the current market leaders Wegovy, Zepbound, and Ozempic.

Google leak shows it might be lying about its Search algorithm

A small clinical study found that patients taking a daily dose of Structures experimental weight loss pill GSBR-1290 lost a 6.2% placebo-adjusted average of their weight after 12 weeks. About 67% of patients taking the pill lost over 6% of their weight and about 33% lost over 10% of their weight.

A separate study testing a different formulation of GSBR-1290 showed that patients on this version of the pill lost a 6.9% placebo-adjusted average of their weight after 12 weeks.

These topline results demonstrate the substantial weight loss effect of GSBR-1290 and its potential to become a best-in-class oral small molecule GLP-1RA as well as an ideal backbone for future combination therapeutics for the treatment of obesity and related diseases, said Structure founder and CEO Raymond Steven in a press release.

The news comes as several companies including market leaders Novo Nordisk and Eli Lilly are developing weight loss pills to help with the skyrocketing demand of GLP-1 weight loss drugs like Ozempic.

Even if we take the combined supply of our [medications] and the competition, its not sufficient to meet the needs of 110 million Americans, diabetes and obesity division president Patrik Jonsson told Quartz in an interview. It will likely take a GLP-1 pill to meet needs of the over 40% of American adults living with obesity, he added.

A small ongoing trial of the Novo Nordisks experimental weight loss pill amycretin demonstrated that it helped users lose an average of 13% of their body weight after 12 weeks.

And early trials of Eli Lillys pill, orforglipron, found that it helped users lose an average of nearly 15% of their weight after 36 weeks.

By 2030, the global prevalence of obesity is expected to reach 1 billion, said Ania Jastreboff, the director of the Yale Obesity Research Center in a statement. There is a need for oral treatments, including small molecules, which are easier to make at scale, more stable thus easier to transport and store, and more cost-effective.

Structure Therapeutics oral GLP-1 drug led to weight loss in two studies – STAT

Structure Therapeutics reported Monday that its oral GLP-1 drug led to weight loss in two small studies, leading shares to surge in pre-market trading.

In a 12-week Phase 2a study, the daily pill in a capsule formulation led to 6.2% placebo-adjusted weight loss. In a separate 12-week pharmacokinetics study, the company tested a new tablet formulation of the drug, called GSBR-1290, and it led to placebo-adjusted weight loss of up to 6.9%.

Though its difficult to compare across different studies, the results appear to approach the levels of weight loss seen at 12 weeks in a separate Phase 2 study of Eli Lillys GLP-1 pill called orforglipron. That entire study lasted 36 weeks, but at 12 weeks, participants had about 6%-7% placebo-adjusted weight loss.

Study: Intermittent Fasting, High-Intensity Exercise Combined Produce Best Weight Management Results – Health.com

Combining time-restricted eating and high-intensity functional training may boost metabolic health and weight loss more than each method alone, new research suggests.

A study published May 1 in the journal PLOS One found that inactive women with obesity who practiced not just one but both strategies had more significant reductions in body composition and lipid and glucose levels.

Time-restricted eating (TRE), a type of intermittent fasting, refers to narrowing food intake to specific windows of the day, while high-intensity functional trainingor HIFTinvolves aerobic and resistance exercises that mimic everyday movements, such as pulling or lifting, performed at a rapid pace. Both strategies have become popular in recent years.

We can highlight in this study that TRE is a good solution to combat obesity, easy to implement since it does not require people to limit their overall food intake or count the total number of daily calories, study author Rami Maaloul, PhD, of the University of Sfax, Tunisia, said in an interview published by PLOS One. For optimal benefits, you should incorporate both TRE and HIFT into your strategy.

The Good Brigade / Getty Images

According to the authors, previous research has suggested that practicing TRE or HIFT alone in the short term may help people lose weight and improve markers of cardiometabolic health, such as blood pressure and glucose levels.

Researchers wanted to investigate whether combining TRE and HIFT would yield even more significant health benefits.

The team recruited 64 women with obesity; the average age was 32. Researchers assigned the participants to practice either time-restricted eating only, high-intensity functional training only, or a combination of the two.

The women who followed the time-restricted eating regimen ate only between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Those in the other groups exercised three days a week with an instructor.

After 12 weeks, participants in all three groups showed significant weight loss, waist and hip circumference reductions, and positive changes in lipid and glucose levels. The people who exercised also had lower blood pressure.

Those practicing both TRE and HIFT, however, saw more pronounced benefits in general than those in the other groups.

This study highlights another exciting positive effect of intermittent fasting, which is to augment the positive effects of exercise on metabolic health, Julie Pendergast, PhD, an associate professor of biology at the University of Kentucky who researches metabolism, told Health.

The authors acknowledged several limitations, including the small sample size, the specificity of the functional exercises, and the fact that eating habits were self-reported and not measured objectively.

Additionally, people who practiced TRE also reported consuming fewer calories, so it's unclear whether the health benefits resulted from a shift in eating times or reduced caloric intake. Some previous research has suggested that any benefits seen during TRE may in fact be due to fewer calories consumed in light of the shorter eating window.

The study didnt explore that question or why people who did both HIFT and TRE had the best outcomes. However, experts said a couple of factors may be at play.

According to Pendergast, both interventions result in a metabolic shift to promote fat burning by the body.

Exercise also builds lean muscle, she added.

I think the key message from this study is incorporating physical activity and training in the setting of active weight loss can be beneficial towards the maintenance of lean tissue, which is invariably lost to a degree when someones losing weight, Sean Heffron, MD, a cardiologist at the Center for the Prevention of Cardiovascular Disease at NYU Langone Heart, told Health.

If you want to begin a new exercise or diet regimen, its best to consult with a healthcare provider first.

Maaloul said people interested in starting a HIFT routine may want to begin slowly and work their way up to a higher intensity. Doing too much too soon may cause injury.

While Pendergast said that when practiced carefully, studies have shown [that TRE] is safe and effective, the eating plan may not be ideal for some people, including those with diabetes or a history of eating disorders, or people who are pregnant or suspect they are pregnant.

Experts say its also important to focus on whatnot just whenyoure eating. Restricting eating to certain hours wouldnt negate the health effects of adopting a poor diet.

And to lose weight and remain healthy long-term, Heffron said to consider creating habits you can maintain. That means that if you dont enjoy intermittent fasting or high-intensity functional exerciseor find them too challenging to stick tothey may not be the best approaches for you.

Check It OutIs the Popular Red Mountain Weight Loss Program Right for You? – AOL

More and more people are turning to medical interventions and working with doctors on their weight loss journey. If you live in Arizona, Florida, Oklahoma or Texas, you may be at least somewhat familiar withRed Mountain Weight Loss Centers.

Founded byDr. Suzanne Bentz, D.O., Red Mountain is one of the biggest weight loss health center chains in the United States. What are Red Mountain weight loss methods and how do they work? Here's what you need to know.

Related:What Is 'Ozempic Face?' Here's Everything You Need to Know About This Common Phenomenon

Red Mountain has two main weight loss programs.

The first is RM3, a three-step program that includes guidelines with a diet plan, medications, supplements, recipe ideas and workout videos. This program is designed to help patients lose up to 20 pounds or more per month and maintain that weight.

The second is RM Lifestyle, which is designed to help patients lose six to 10 pounds per month, and is considered a more gradual weight loss approach. Doctors in the program suggest certain medications and supplements to align with a macronutrient diet.

A third program is called RM Flex, designed to help patients lose 15 pounds per month with semaglutide medication and lifestyle changes.

The price of the programs ranges from $199 to $599, depending on what options you choose and how long you use them.

Related: Everything You Need to Know About Ree Drummond's Empowering, Actually Sustainable 43-Pound Weight Loss Journey

The amount of weight that a patient will lose on the Red Mountain program will depend on their starting weight, says DJ Mazzoni, RD, MS, CDN, CSCS,a registered dietitian/nutritionist and medical reviewer at Illuminate Health. Individuals starting at a higher weight will lose more weight adhering to a diet program on average because their daily energy requirements are higher than someone at a lower weight.

Red Mountain's website suggests that patients may lose up to 20 pounds per month, but that sounds like a high estimate: Healthy, sustainable weight loss usually doesn't exceed two pounds per week, according to Mazzoni, which equates to about eight pounds per month.

Related:How Do You Get a Prescription for Ozempic?

Depending on the program you choose, Red Mountain costs between $199 and $599, with a new patient consultation costing $55.

Related:Here's What Actually Happens When You Stop Taking Ozempic

The Red Mountain weight loss program includes food in various categories, like lean protein, fruits and vegetables. It allows for healthy starches, too.

This is a diet similar to the Mediterranean Diet, and I believe it's a much healthier diet model than what most Americans consume, says Mazzoni.

Related: What Is the Mediterranean Diet and What Can You Eat On It?

Overall, the program is a healthy approach, but there is little evidence to suggest the effectiveness of weight loss supplements for lasting weight loss.

That being said, the Red Mountain diet model seems like a healthy and sustainable option for overweight and obese patients seeking to lose weight, Mazzoni explains. I wouldn't recommend their weight loss supplements, as there is very little research suggesting that weight loss supplements are effective for sustained weight loss," Mazzoni says. "Increasing dietary fiber intake is a cheaper alternative to weight loss supplements which is proven in medical research to be effective, and is the approach I would recommend over Red Mountain's weight loss supplements.

Here are a few pros and cons of Red Mountain, according to Holly Klamer, MS, RDN:

Klamer lists the following points as pros of participating in the Red Mountain weight loss program:

A bariatric physician supervises weight loss and takes bloodwork into account.

There's a focus on an individualized weight loss plan.

The focus is on long-term success and breaking the cycle of yo-yo dieting.

It can be helpful for weight loss for those who feel like they have tried everything without success.

The program includes weekly check-ins.

If determined necessary by your provider, you may be able to get a prescription for semaglutide medication, the same active ingredient in Wegovy. And if you're needle averse (we see you!), you may be able to get it prescribed as a tablet instead of an injection.

Related:The #1 Mistake People Make While on Weight Loss Drugs Like Ozempic, According to an Obesity Doctor

Here are some of the potentials cons of Red Mountain, according to Klamer:

This center uses Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG) as part of the medically supervised weight loss program, which may cause some hesitation, as the FDA suggests HCG is not effective for weight loss, and most studies have not shown HCG to be significant for weight loss. That said, plans are customized for each client, so this may not even be part of your journey.

The weight loss boosters claim to decrease hunger and boost metabolism, but the complete list of ingredients is not listed, so it is not clear what is in these products that would help boost weight loss and if they are research-backed.

Like most weight loss programs, Red Mountain comes with benefits and drawbacksso ultimately, you will need to decide what works best for you and your lifestyle. And as always, never be afraid to chat with a doctor or nutritionist about the best weight loss approach for you!

5 "Bad" Foods That Actually Help With Weight Loss, According to Dietitians – EatingWell

Certain foods have an unwarranted negative reputation. When people talk about these foods, they use words like bad and weight gain. But that couldnt be further from the truth. No single food can cause weight gain or loss. Weight fluctuations occur as a result of your daily diet over time.

As a matter of fact, these five bad foods may actually help with weight loss. Although the foods on this list can have an unhealthy stigma, they are full of protein and fiber, two nutrients that help facilitate weight loss. This article will look at six foods that are often looked down upon and prove why they can be part of a healthy diet.

Believe it or not, many foods you may believe are off-limits can be part of a healthy eating pattern. Here are five bad foods that may help you reach your weight loss goals.

Youve probably seen recommendations to include low-fat dairy in your daily eating pattern, but what about full-fat dairy, like whole milk, cheese or butter? These foods have more calories and fat than their lower-fat counterparts, but research suggests that including full-fat dairy may not affect weight.

A 2020 review in Advances in Nutrition observed whether or not consuming whole-fat dairy products was linked to weight gain or body fat in children. The study authors did not find a link between consuming full-fat dairy and weight gain. Another 2020 review in Advanced in Nutrition summarized that eating full-fat dairy foods is not associated with an increased risk of obesity in children or adults. And although calorie concerns are higher among whole-milk drinkers, most Americans dont consume the recommended 3 servings of dairy foods per day in the first place.

Another concern about full-fat dairy is that it has more saturated fat than lower-fat versions. For reference, an 8-ounce serving of milk has 4.5 grams of saturated fat as compared to 1.4 grams in 8-ounces of 1% milk. Yet, research concludes full-fat dairy consumption does not negatively affect cardiometabolic risk factors or heart disease. In addition, fermented dairy foods, such as full-fat yogurt and cheese, may actually protect against cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes.

Carbohydrate-forward grains, like pasta, bread and rice, are often thought of as bad foods that people should restrict. Although these grains are rich in carbohydrates, they can still be part of a healthy weight-loss diet. A 2022 review found no difference in weight loss results when people who were overweight followed a low-carbohydrate diet instead of a balanced-carbohydrate diet. Rather, the authors claim that the total calorie intake matters more for weight changes.

In addition, whole grain carbs, like brown rice and quinoa, are rich in fiber, a nutrient that helps regulate appetite and contributes to a healthy weight.

Eggs are constantly under the spotlight because they are a cholesterol-containing food. But eating eggs does not directly impact cholesterol levels or heart disease risk, and eggs can be a healthy part of a weight loss plan. One large egg has just 70 calories, 5 grams of fat and 6 grams of protein, making it a balanced addition to the diet.

A 2023 review examined 32 controlled clinical trials and revealed that eating eggs did not significantly affect body weight. In addition, studies with calorie restriction and healthy subjects found that whole egg intake actually decreased body mass index (BMI). The study authors attribute these findings to the protein in the egg, which helps increase satiety and fullness.

This starchy root veggie receives a lot of shade due to its high carb content. But, believe it or not, the type of starch in potatoes can help contribute to weight loss. Potatoes contain resistant starch, a type of carbohydrate that resists digestion and controls appetite. A 2020 study found that eating potatoes suppressed appetite and reduced short-term food consumption. In addition, pairing potatoes with a protein-rich food increased satiety and reduced hunger. So go ahead and fill your potato with plenty of protein-rich foods, like beans, eggs, dairy or chicken, for a weight loss-friendly meal.

Some people may think of popcorn as a bad snack food, but its a healthy fiber-rich, low-calorie whole grain. One cup of air-popped popcorn has just 30 calories and 1 gram of fiber, making it a crunchy and satisfying low-calorie snack. Although there isnt much research on the benefits of popcorn for weight loss, one study compared the short-term satiety from low-fat popcorn with potato chips and found that people who ate popcorn expressed less hunger, more satisfaction and said they ate less food overall.

But, when enjoying popcorn, be mindful of the other added ingredients. Additional flavors, like butter, caramel or chocolate, can add up to a lot of calories and fat that may not align as well with weight loss goals.

Although you may think a certin food is bad for weight loss, perception doesnt always match reality. Foods like potatoes, popcorn, eggs and rice can be part of a healthy weight-loss diet. Its also important to remember that one food cannot make or break your weight loss goals or healthy eating regimen. Think of the diet as a whole and include a variety of whole foods with fiber and protein to keep you full and satisfied.

90 Day Fianc: Vanessa Guerra’s Face Is Changing After Extraordinary Weight Loss Milestone – Screen Rant

Summary

Vanessa Guerra from the 90 Day Fianc franchise has transformed her physique by losing excess weight. The Las Vegas resident debuted on the show a few years ago when she befriended Colt Johnson. She liked him a lot and got serious with him without realizing that he was already dating another woman named Jess Caroline. Ultimately, Colt ended his previous relationship with Vanessa. In 2021, Colt and Vanessa tied the knot. The couple had their wedding ceremony in Reno, Nevada, away from the 90 Day Fianc franchise cameras.

Vanessa initially enjoyed a healthy marriage with Colt. She somehow inspired him to get away from his mother, Debbie Johnson, pushing him to be a man of his own. Unfortunately, things just didn't go well. A few years ago, Vanessa went through a miscarriage, which severely affected her. It led to various relationship issues that inspired her to seek therapy. In 2022, Vanessa and Colt started filming for 90 Day: The Last Resort. However, it didn't work out when Colt fell from a trampoline and injured himself. The couple confirmed they won't return to reality TV again after that.

Reality TV is more popular than ever. With so many to choose from, here are some of the best reality TV shows to stream or watch right now.

Vanessa always had a fitness-oriented lifestyle and looked toned when she first met Colt. She wore fashionable outfits in pastel tones. The 90 Day Fianc franchise star sported a medium-length hairstyle and seemed happy with her life. In 90 Day: The Single Life, Vanessa returned to the screen to assist Colt's mother in finding a new man. At the time, she had gained some weight, which may or may not have been due to her pregnancy. Colt also shared a photo of Vanessa's previous pregnancy test and shared that she suffered a miscarriage a few months into her pregnancy.

Recently, Vanessa shared more details about why she gained weight. She posted an Instagram Story, saying, "I was severely stressed/depressed while doing the show, which caused me to gain a lot of weight." While various factors caused Vanessa to gain weight, she believes filming the 90 Day Fianc spin-off was probably the biggest reason for her weight gain.

A reality TV episode can be very hectic to film and often affects cast members' mental health. While some stars overcome it, others find it hard to live a normal life because of it.

Vanessa surprised fans by talking about her weight loss in May 2024. She posted a few Instagram Stories detailing how she lost weight. She wrote, "I've spent the last year working on my mindset/discipline and this was the program to help me get out of that mess." She posted a photo of a diet program and thanked the guy who made it. Vanessa also responded to her critics. She posted an inspirational paragraph from the program and wrote, "do the work! F**k all of you saying I'm on Ozempic."

Vanessa's fitness program included strict rules, such as following a healthy diet and drinking a gallon of water daily. It also forced her not to have cheat meals or drink alcohol. The 90 Day Fianc franchise alum recently revealed how she followed such a tough diet for months. She said, "I used a lot of @breannefreeman cookbooks to help me." Vanessa admitted that she didn't know much about cooking healthily before that. She could only make chicken and rice before. However, the cookbooks helped her control her diet and master her macros.

Colt Johnson left 90 Day Fianc after finding love in Vanessa Guerra. However, the couple have had a tough 2023 due to an unforeseen incident.

Vanessa has been showing off her transformation lately. However, she first flaunted her new slim face in March 2024, posting a photo from the Bad Bunny concert. Vanessa looked phenomenal in the selfie. She seemed much happier and younger than before. While Vanessa didn't title her post, she got dozens of comments complimenting her newfound glow. An Instagram user wrote, "Vanessa you look great," boosting her confidence. Another social media user commented, "happiness looks on you Vanessa," letting her know that she looked healthier from the inside out.

Vanessa has toned her face since losing weight. Recently, she posted a mirror selfie showing her lean physique and chiseled face.

She wrote, "still alive, somewhere in Vegas," joking about her lack of activity on social media. In her photo, Vanessa wore a fashionable purple top that showcased her long neck and collar bones. She paired it with denim shorts, highlighting her lean legs and curved waist. The 90 Day Fianc cast member embraced her natural curly hair and wore minimal makeup. The natural look allowed Vanessa's new sharp facial features and jawline to stand out.

Vanessa was quiet about her relationship with Colt for months. However, she recently confirmed her split with him by answering a fan who asked her, "are you still married to Colt?"Vanessa wrote, "I filed, but he's not signing." She posted shrugging emojis to show her lack of enthusiasm about the situation. It seems like Vanessa is over Colt. However, he's still a big baby by not letting her live her life. Thankfully, Vanessa doesn't care about the divorce. She has moved on and has big plans for her future.

Displaying her independence and determination, Vanessa has once again declined an offer to return to the 90 Day Fianc franchise. In response to a fan's question about her future on TV, she confidently stated, "had the opportunity to go on the second season of Last Resort, Declined." It's clear that Vanessa is ready to move on from the reality TV drama, choosing not to film her life struggle and publicly share her personal affairs. With Vanessa's absence, it's likely that Colt will also not be seen on the show, leaving 90 Day Fianc viewers to wonder about their future.
