Living overseas for many years I hear often the stereotype that Americans are redneck hillbillies that are ruining the planet, ruining their own health and ignorant as to new information and technology available for health and environment etc. Of course electing Bush to his second term didn #39;t help the image much but my experience has been the opposite. From the amazing "Whole Foods" stores that hold an incredible array of organic and RAW food to the massive solar project shown in this video and from my association with hundreds of Americans as I come to visit every year across several states, I can firmly say that many are keen to save their lives from the SAD "Standard American diet", to move away from a lifestyle of pharmaceuticals, to free themselves of commercialized/processed and chemical laden food and practice responsibility with resources and new more efficient technologies. The largest challenge I can see facing America is an addiction to things and a limited world view based on faith based information that detaches people from reality. There is confusion for example as to why there is a diabetic crisis and a massive obesity problem, not just in America but around the world. One must first ask "could it be what we are eating?" What exactly is corn syrup and fructose and why is it in everything? "Am I helpless to the food I eat or can I make a change?.
