Interview With YouTube Fitness Star Cassey Ho – TeenVogue.com

Cassey Ho, the brains behind Blogilates, has the kind of career every self-proclaimed fitness fiend dreams of. She started her YouTube channel in 2009 with the simple goal of helping people realize how easy and attainable it can be to stay or get fit and live a healthy lifestyle. But what began as a fun way to educate and inspire her subscribers, ultimately turned into so, so much more. Fast forward almost 8 years and 30-year-old Cassey is now running the show at her very own full-fledged fitness brand. As the founder of POP Pilates and PIIT28 and the designer of POPFLEX Active not to mention still running her personal channel it's no wonder she's been called one of the top health and fitness influencers in the world.

Despite her powerhouse reputation and perennially busy schedule, though, Casey somehow still manages to remain regularly connected with her fans via her various social platforms. And with over a million followers on Instagram and Facebook, it's quite obvious she's not only a fitness guru, but a social media maven, too. Though we happen to think her 'gram is where you can get to know Cassey the most. Her uplifting feed is flooded with everything from inspirational quotes to quickie workout tutorials and even the occasional shameless selfie. What's arguably so appealing about Cassey's overall brand is her ability to stay true to herself and to find ways that make fitness fun for everyone not just the twice-a-day gym-goer but those of us who might put working out pretty low on our priority list.

What's more? Cassey never, ever makes you feel like you should work out simply to "look better" or drop the lbs. As an eating disorder survivor, Cassey maintains a fitness-should-feel-good attitude and says the goal should be about boosting your mood and overall confidence rather than about what you see on the scale a message we obv stand behind 100%.

...Which is why we were beyond-pumped to have the opportunity to catch up with Cassey to chat about what else? but all things fitness and healthy living. From how she handles negative comments and body-shamers to her go-to post-workout snack, read on for the deep dive on our fitness guru favorite.

Teen Vogue: How do you handle cyberbullies and body-shamers?

Cassey Ho: I don't allow them to get to me. I focus on the positivity that I am sharing with the world and the amazing community that surrounds it. If the bullies can't contribute to that, they have no place in my heart or mind.

TV: Whats one reason you would give someone to work out that has nothing to do with what you look like?

Cassey Ho: Working out should make you FEEL happy, energized and motivated to take on the rest of your day. Feeling good will translate into looking good, too.

TV: How do you start your morning?

Cassey Ho: I set up my morning for success! I wake up early, make my bed, brush my teeth andpop in my Alcon DAILIES TOTAL1 contact lenses. I thendo a PIIT28 workoutand make a healthy breakfast before I head off to work at the Blogilates HQ. The momentum of my morning pushes my motivation for my day at work!

TV: Do you have a favorite snack to eat after a workout and why?

Cassey Ho: It's super important to fuel up with a balance of healthy carbs, protein and fats to refuel your body from all the hard work you just accomplished. An easy way to do this is with a smoothie! I love doing a Peanut Butter and Banana almond milk smoothie with spinach!

TV: What's one thing everyone should do for their wellness routine this spring?

Cassey Ho: De-clutter and focus on making positive changes that improve your overall wellness! I love organizing and refreshing my house because I find that eliminating unnecessary physical things frees up space in my mind as well.An example of a seemingly small but impactful change Ive made to improve my overall wellness is switching to Alcon DAILIES TOTAL1 contact lenses. Vision is an often overlooked part of fitness and staying in shape. Like the right apparel, footwear and diet, it is important to have the right contact lenses because they arecrucial to your performance.

TV: Any must-have equipment for turning your dorm /dorm room into a gym?

Cassey Ho: Get a yoga mat! Since you have limited space, all you need is a mat to get a killer workout in. I just released some beautiful new styles in thepopflexactive.comshop. So much color! Color makes me happy 🙂

TV: How do you stay motivated when youre feeling lousy?

Cassey Ho: Let yourself take a moment to recharge and recollect your thoughts. Being negative and feeling down won't get you anywhere. Getting outside or talking with a friend is the best way to boost your mood and get yourself motivated!
