Juice Bar New Hub of Fitness Culture – The Arkanas Traveller

Clean cut wood-finished panels, bright hanging lights and succulents stand out when first entering Nutrition Hog, a local fitness-promoting nutritional shake bar. But its the quality of its health drinks that seems to make it stand out among the growing fitness culture of the town.

Nutrition Hog provides a series of drinks as well as free wellness tests at their new location. It also is coming in something different then most fitness clubs of Fayetteville: a tea bar with meal replacement protein shakes, plus tea and aloe, all of which are pharmaceutical grade products.

I wanted something that was easier, cheaper and good for me, owner Dean Martinez said, as he describes his inspiration behind opening the business. I got into optimum nutrition for the best price.

The teas and protein shakes vary in the types of flavors, such as birthday cake and cookie dough, that are offered but the products they offer are set apart from others, Dean Martinez said.

We use a green tea leaf extract rather than the coffee bean, Martinez said. Its different from the bean since the tea leaf gives more of a steady increase of energy along the way unlike the high spike and then crash that the bean gives.

These teas actually burn calories when being consumed. They are shown to have quick results with weight loss as well, Martinez said. In as little as three days, there has been a few inches of weight lost around the waist, he said.

The different teas as well as the aloe shots and various different shakes are really drawing the crowd in, he said.

Wife and co-owner Cherry Martinez said there was a big boom with the business when it opened at the Grove Drive location March 6.

Right now, were cooling off, Cherry Martinez said. It all started with one post and then we exploded.

The new Nutrition Hog location was inspired by the owner of the original location on Township, Rick Hall, Cherry Martinez said.

One of the main mottos of Nutrition Hog is said to be affirming people where they are and growing them from there, Cherry Martinez said.

We love to empower people, Cherry Martinez said.

The clubs also works with sororities and other organizations for percentage nights and other activities, she said.

The percentage nights are cool because they not only give back to the charities of the organizations, but it in turn helps us attract business, Cherry Martinez said.

This business attracts students on normal nights too, he said.

This is my second time coming here and I really like coming here because I feel healthy without having to work out, senior Peyton Cashion said.

Not only do people like the health benefits they also like the tastes of the shakes and teas, Dean Martinez said.

The shakes taste like ice cream, senior Anna Travis said. The teas are sweeter but they are still good.

The success of Nutrition Hog in Fayetteville inspired the Martinezes to open a location in Romania, and they are hoping to donate proceeds to help stop sex-trafficking of girls there, Dean Martinez said.

We really want to help give the opportunity to people who dont necessarily have it, Dean Martinez said.

Not only is Nutrition Hog trying to attract business with their selection of drinks, but they hope to encourage health and overall fitness too, she said.

Nutrition Hog is located off of Wedington Drive on Grove Drive near Planet Fitness. Its hours are from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.
