Pottsgrove Beat The Calendar on Fitness Promise – The Sanatoga Post

With financial grant support from the Pottstown Area Health & Wellness Foundation, the district Tuesday (Dec. 17, 2019) said its continuing to provide a diverse and wide range of healthy programs. So far theyve included an August wellness fair for teachers and staff, a student-oriented Wellness Week during October that featured outdoor fitness and plant-based food choices (above at right), and November Farmers Markets in its elementary schools.

Most recently the markets presented by Pottsgroves food service provider, Chartwells (above and below), gave kindergarten through fifth graders opportunities to sample, taste, and take home a variety of featured fruits and vegetables to try with their families, the district said. Those programs were jointly sponsored by Tower Health and Giant Foods.

During its Wellness Week, the district added, staff members in each school building emphasized good health with age-appropriate activities:

More than 40 local vendors turned out for presentations at the August wellness fair to educate Pottsgrove employees (above) on new trends in fitness and wellness. Staffers also could choose to attend more than a dozen professional development sessions that encouraged incorporating healthy lifestyles into classrooms and their own homes.
