Positivity helps woman lose 190 pounds

MILTON - Susan Cain faced numerous challenges to lose more than 190 pounds.

Working in the fast-food industry meant she had to skip the high-calorie, readily available menu items.

She lived on a tight budget and still managed to buy healthy foods. She didn't have a vehicle, so she carried groceries from a bus stop to her home.

Cain said it was all worth it and her current goal is to keep her weight under control as she continues to reap the health benefits.

"At my heaviest, I weighed 365 pounds," said Cain, who now weighs 174 and is 5 feet 8 inches tall.

She used to live in sweatpants and sweatshirts - she wore a size 6X sweatshirt.

"I couldn't find a dress to fit me. Now I wear a size 10 dress," she said.

Her weight fluctuates a couple of pounds above or below her goal of 176, but she does not let it get out of control.

Her blood pressure is no longer a problem, and she can climb stairs without stopping to catch her breath.

"My health has improved almost 100 percent; I can do more," said Cain, who added she also feels better mentally.
