Chris Hemsworth has been one of the most visible celebrities in the fitness space over the last few years. Along with lending his muscles to blockbusters like The Avengers and streaming hits like Extraction, the actor frequently shares his workout sessions on social media for his fans to follow. Most notably, Hemsworth released a comprehensive health and wellness app, Centr, to give his fans access to the same top-level instruction he has from his team of trainers and health coaches.
In light of gym closures and other challenging circumstances in which many people have found themselves during the current pandemic, Hemsworth's fitness team have developed a new bodyweight-only workout program for the Centr app.
Dubbed Centr Unleashed, the new series is a six-week, equipment-free blast from Luke Zocchi, Hemsworth's personal trainer, and Ashley Joi, a core and strength fitness expert. Users can select from Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced intensities, and the trainers present modifications for anyone in need of alternate exercises during the five workout sessions per week.
The Centr team gave Men's Health early access to a sample workout from the program, ahead of its May 18 launch. To access the full program, you'll have to have a Centr subscription. Looking for other bodyweight challenges you can take on at home? Try some of these workouts to prep for the Unleashed release next week.
Perform each exercise for 35 seconds, then rest for 25 seconds. Not challenged enough? Run through the whole series a second time.

Cardiac Rehab Registered Nurse George Butcher, III, will be retiring from Mon Health Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital.
Butcher joined the SJMH Family in January 2005 and was honored as an Employee of the Month in 2018. George received his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of North Carolina. Butcher explained that he chose a college in North Carolina because his family vacationed in the area and he loved the beach.
Although Butcher knew where he wanted to attend college, he didnt choose his career path until his sophomore year at UNC. I was in my sophomore year at college trying to decide what to do. I happened to see the offices for the School of Nursing and decided to go ask some questions. The director I spoke to kept me for an hour and said that I was the perfect person to go into nursing. This was in 1975 and there were no men in nursing, Butcher said.
My mother was a nurse at Fairmont General and was surprised by my choice, but it is a choice I am so happy that I made, Butcher added.
Nurse Manager Kristi Gannon, noted, As a nurse manager, I can say that George is the type of employee you want in your department. He is kind, caring, compassionate and always goes above and beyond. He makes our patients and staff feel special. He is a friend and a great storyteller. He found his calling in this world, he was meant to be a nurse.
George explained that he has worked in several departments, but cardiac rehab is his favorite because he loves the patient care experience. I love working with people and telling stories, explained George. Cardiovascular care has always interested me and so it was natural to work with cardiac patients in an outpatient setting.
George has also expressed his loyalty to Stonewall Jackson Memorial over the past 15 years. He noted that in 2005, when he was taking care of his mother, he needed to find employment to be able to help her at night. He was interviewed at several area hospitals. However, Stonewall was the only facility offering Butcher a day shift.
I stayed with Stonewall because they gave me a job when I needed it. I am loyal to this hospital because they gave me an opportunity. I will never forget that, he concluded.
There will be a retirement reception held for Butcher on his birthday, Thursday, May 21, outside of the Cardiac Rehabilitation/Adult Fitness Department.
He is a Fairmont native and the son of the late Kathleen and George Butcher, Jr. He lives in Fairmont with his wife, Connie, a deputy clerk at the Marion County Courthouse. The couple has three children Joey Vessecchia, David Vessecchia and Sarah Vessecchia. They have two grandchildren Anthony, 10 and Haiden, 14.

Travel on the New York State Thruway is about to change.
Once the 27 plazas are rebuilt or renovated, Thruway travelers will be able to place food orders on the road and then pick them up at drive-thrus. Truck drivers can wash clothes and shower. There will even be fitness areas and climate-controlled areas for pets.
These improvements are part of a $450 million contract approved today by the New York Thruway Authoritys board. The details about what restaurants will be at what rest stops is not yet available. Nor do we know yet what rest areas will be renovated first. (This new contract does not include changes to fuel stations.)
But the Thruway did release some details about whats coming with the new contract with Empire State Thruway Partners:
Food and eating
Tourism
Children
Pets
Commercial trucking
Business
Building improvements
Neither the Thruway nor the drivers that pay tolls are paying for the renovations. Rather, the contract winner, Empire State Thruway Partners, is making the total investment. That includes $300 million in construction costs and another $103 million for maintenance over time, according to the Thruway.
The contract guarantees the Thruway at least $51 million over its 33-year lifetime. Construction is expected to being at 16 of the service areas in 2021.

Weight rooms, fitness gyms, to open with restrictions – Norfolk Daily News

LINCOLN Besides youth baseball and softball, Gov. Pete Ricketts on Monday gave high school athletes in Nebraska something to anticipate in June.
Ricketts said schools, with social distancing, can reopen weight rooms starting June 1. As with fitness gyms, the limit of 10 people in a room with 6 feet of separation must be observed.
School officials say they will seek to get more answers this week on what else could be allowable under the governors guidelines, such as conditioning work and individual-skills camps.
Youth teams in baseball and softball, given two pages of reopening guidelines on Monday, can practice beginning June 1 and play games starting June 18.
NSAA Executive Director Jay Bellar said he will talk Tuesday with State Education Commissioner Matt Blomstedt. Bellar was part of a panel for school superintendents Monday afternoon, after the governors briefing, that included Blomstedt and Ricketts.
Bellar said that last week, Blomstedt brought him on to the commissioners weekly superintendents advisory council.
The way it looks to me, Bellar said, not much has changed for (the NSAA) other than there seems to be some stipulation that weight rooms could be open if the kids can come back to school, which I think the commissioner is going to, but I guess I havent talked to him about that yet.
Because of the coronavirus pandemic, school facilities have been closed to students since late March, with no extracurricular activities permitted under a directed health measure issued by the governor. The order expires May 31.
With a 10-person limit, larger schools will have more difficulties in weight rooms than smaller schools. One possible solution could be moving equipment into multiple rooms and assigning a coach to each one. Day care facilities operate in such a manner.
Nolan Beyer, the athletic director for Millards three high schools, said safety will be the top consideration.
We will spend the next few days determining if we can provide a safe environment for our athletes, he said. If we determine we can, we would like to provide them an opportunity to train.
Ricketts said baseball and softball are well suited to be first as the state begins the reopening of sports.
Theyre the sports that are more socially distant anyway, he said. And we want to take this a step at a time, roll this out, and see how we can make this work.
Blomstedt said officials will be watching how players, fans and coaches interact to see what they can learn in restoring sports in the fall. He said the baseball/softball guidelines were developed with an eye toward whats safe and what works for teams, games and practices.
He said schools were getting a lot of questions about the use of their facilities for sports.
Blomstedt heads up an effort called Launch Nebraska, which deals with how to reopen schools and all activities.

Curtis Christopherson, president of Innovative Fitness, at the company's location in Surrey, B.C., on April 21, 2020.
DARRYL DYCK
Innovative Fitness was working on a way to make its boutique personal training and wellness services available online by the end of this year. Then COVID-19 hit.
Since the business largely involves human interaction, it voluntarily closed its 12 brick-and-mortar locations (11 in B.C., one in Toronto) as of Mar. 16, before non-essential businesses were ordered shut in B.C. and Ontario.
But instead of waiting out the shutdown, Innovative Fitness went into brainstorming mode.
Story continues below advertisement
We had to pivot quickly and adapt to the situation, says Curtis Christopherson, chief executive officer of the Vancouver-based company, which offers services such as one-on-one training, rehabilitation and nutritional coaching.
Development was already underway at the company to build a unique platform for online services that werent available from off-the-shelf software. Innovative Fitness needed its own platform to provide high quality video-conferencing that would work for personalized training, coaching and small group work. It also needed the service to provide activity tracking for clients as well as organize operations, scheduling and administration such as billing for more than 250 employees.
And it needed it very quickly.
Working closely with Coquitlam, B.C.-based software developer SaaSberry Innovation Laboratories Ltd., the online version of Innovative Fitness was up and running by the end of March.
In a very short period of time, weve launched our virtual coaching and we have 35-to-40 per cent of our existing client base and revenue online when we could have had zero. And were now seeing people we could never have offered service before, Mr. Christopherson says. Were serving people completely outside our geographical regions, including places like Boston, New York, and Los Angeles.
Mr. Christopherson's Vancouver-based fitness company offers services such as one-on-one training, rehabilitation and nutritional coaching.

Before COVID-19 forced many businesses to close their doors, online business in Canada was increasing by 15 per cent every year and businesses with an e-commerce presence saw higher revenue growth than those without, says Pierre Clroux, vice-president of research and chief economist at the Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC).
Yet, according to BDC research, only about half of small- and mid-sized enterprises in Canada have a website.
Story continues below advertisement
In a recent survey of 1,500 clients, BDC asked small- and mid-sized businesses what they have learned from the COVID-19 crisis.
The No. 1 answer when we ask them what are you going to do differently? is to be more present online, Mr. Clroux says. I think many companies are doing it right now.
Its much easier than it used to be technically and not as costly, he says.
I think a lot of companies are taking this opportunity, or theyre kind of forced to, because if youre not online in many businesses youre basically closed. Its forcing many businesses to do it now or to improve what they have been doing in the past.
From late February to the end of March, as the spread of COVID-19 led to business closures, online sales for food and from restaurants have increased 194 per cent, while online sales of furniture, 84 per cent, according to BDC.
Even after public health restrictions are lifted, Mr. Clroux believes e-commerce will continue to accelerate.
Weve seen in other countries that consumers remain cautious even after restrictions are lifted, he says. They are not rushing to stores; they are not rushing to shopping malls because they are cautious about their health. I think the online business is going to stay strong after this crisis.
Business has also taken off at SaaSberry, according to its CEO Chris Cade.
Mr. Cade says online technology has advanced and the cost to install and deploy it has come down in recent years, making it more attractive to more businesses. Still, based on his own experience, he says about nine out of 10 small- and mid-sized companies were reluctant to invest even a few months ago.
Now everybody wants in.
The pandemic fast-tracked it, Mr. Cade says. This has been happening to business for years and years. Now, it has happened overnight.
SaaSberry has added many clients to its roster in the past five weeks amid the pandemic closures, from mom-and-pop bakeries to retail outlets.
Story continues below advertisement
There are ways you can fight this, rather than just close your shop. There are ways to make money. We just have to think differently, Mr. Cade says.
The software that SaaSberry built for Innovative Fitness, which uses a secure browser link for video-conferencing rather than an app users have to download, would have cost millions of dollars just a few years ago, Mr. Cade says. Today, businesses can adopt e-commerce solutions at a much lower cost.
Every single business can leverage technology today. I dont care what size they are; they can be doing something, Mr. Cade says.
Mr. Christopherson believes the online fitness platform will be a new revenue stream for his company, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. And, with SaaSberry, Innovative Fitness hopes to licence the software to others.
Were continually developing. This isnt the full solution but we have a live product being used right now that we can continue to build and develop, Mr. Christopherson says.
This pandemic just demonstrated the importance that technology can play and the opportunity that technology offers. For us, it was do or die. Either you do it or you risk not opening up again.

Looking up at the bull's horns while the bear swipes us down should be every business's focus in the wake of Covid-19.Volatile stocks, record unemployment rates, and predictions of ourworst recession yetare naturally spurring companies of all sizes into cost-cutting defense, which is naturalmost people's natural behavior in times of crises is tolook inside for solutions or protection.
Recessions, while always difficult to navigate, have fostered some of the most impressive companies in history. The Great Depression brought us GE, Disney, and HP, who all benefited from marketing while their rivals cut back. The Great Recession brought us companies that ushered us into the digital age and opened up the gig economyAirbnb, Credit Karma, Uber, Slack, Venmo and Square.
These companies were successful because they lookedoutsidefor opportunities as times changed, and came up with products and services the world needed. There were many signals that illustrated their eventual rise but their success was fueled by a world looking for alternative work during hard times.
During the recession, just before Airbnb was founded in 2008, searches for the keyword "mortgage"were beginning to drop, and the number of real estate, rental and leasing contractors was increasing by almosthalf a million. The share of theU.S workforcein the gig economy as a whole rose from 10.1% to 15.8% in 2015. People were looking for ways to reduce their costs, and earn more anyway they could.
Airbnb, and many other examples that fueled desire for alternative income in 2008 and 2009, were born from loss we lost533,000 jobsin 2008, the biggest drop since 1974.
The desire for alternative work arrangements stuck. As we came out of the great recession, the number of people doing alternative work rose byover 3%.
Back to 2020. After the coronavirus fades from the public mindset, what might be the next "gig economy" born from this recession, what is going to be the next AirBnb, or Uber?
Looking at a variety of data sources shows these as the categories will be ripe for startup innovation.
The combination of empty grocery store aisles and springtime has driven many people to garden and raise livestock, increasingself-sustainability.
Businesses selling the materials to support them are thriving. Home Depot'sshares are up 4.21%, and keyword searches for 'how to snake a toilet' and 'home garden' are both on the rise.
The entire home and garden category has seen a 140% increase in page views in the last month. Consumers are specifically interested in gardening and plumbing, which has seen an 245% increase.
Plumbing is an entirely new topic we've seen emerge in the last month. As toilet paper shortages forced some to use alternatives, plumbers have been busy snaking toiletsbut many consumers are simply learning how to do soon their own.
Perhaps a new marketplace of local service providers, a "Seamless" of plumbers will be born, and consumers will be a "click away" from getting someone to come and fix their plumbing. Marketplaces like TaskRabbit, Handy and Thumbtack will thrive, and new players will emerge.
Lockdown has been an opportunity for animal shelters, who haveurged people to adoptwhile homeand it's working. New Yorkers have adopted10x more petsthan usual and Los Angeles has seen a 70% increase in adoptions from shelters. In fact, shares of Chewy, a popular pet marketplace, are up 7%.
Over the past month, we've seen a 50% increase in pageviews related to pets.
We'll start to see a whole new host of pet-related businessesfrom the basics of food, toys and grooming, to mainstream TV channels for dogs likedogtv.com, more dedicated Netflix original shows for pets to keep them entertained, a proliferation of homemade meal services for cats and dogs like NomNom, virtual dog training courses, and tools to communicate with your pet like Hunger For Words.
Consumers are getting more comfortable with performing their own haircare and skincare routines.
At home beauty and wellness alternatives are currently experiencingdouble digit growth, a trend that we'll see impact the beauty industry permanently. It's not an entirely female phenomenon. Hair clipper sales havesoared 200%and more and more men are more likely to shave their heads in quarantine.
Page views related to haircare and skincare products DIY home kits has increasedwe've seen 36% and 1.7% increases respectively.
Companies providing not only the beauty products themselves, but also those providing custom training services, communities and more, will thrive. Perhaps beauty companies will offer VR filters people can swipe through at home like those offered by Pinterest and others. Once consumers like what they see, companies will then supply products to make them look like the filter.
This may be obviousvideo games and board games are providing all types of people with a welcome escape in lockdown. The Nintendo Switch isflying off the shelves, and the company currently can't make enough game consoles to meet the demand. This is due in part to one of their new releases, Animal Crossing, which has drawn the attention of the masses from across the globe.
In fact, as many people turn to safe, at-home entertainment, the U.S, has spent $1.597 billion on gaming hardwarea blockbuster amountsince the great recession, when we spent over $1.8 billion on hardware.
Our enthusiasm for gaming has been reflected on the open web. We've seen a 145% increase in gaming page views on publisher sites.
There's a huge opportunity for people to connect through video gamesit could be the sports' world next frontier, as eSports are currentlyoutperformingtheir goals. Games that include world building scenarios, the ability to socialize and incorporate exercise will thrive post-pandemic.
Most of the health-related news cycle revolves around obesity in relation to coronavirus deaths, but also, educational content on how to not lose weight in lockdown. Searches for 'weight loss' have steadily increased the more time we've spent in quarantine, and the more fitness and health apps we download. According to Statista, we downloaded over2.6 million home workout, no equipment appsin March of this year.
Staying healthy sustainably, and while sedentary, is a challenge. But some companies are starting to figure it out. Blue Apron recentlymade a comebackas more and more people look to learn to cook healthy, and Peloton stock is up 4% in the last month.
We've seen a huge spike in searches related to weight loss since the global pandemic began.
Now stuck at home, we're now more aware of our fitness, which may build habits that stick around. With so many healthy food, fitness and exercise options available, there's an opportunity here for aggregation of the market.
Just like we saw streaming services aggregate to places like Roku and Apple TV, fitness and food aggregation will be next. Physical gyms might also thrive later, to meet the new demand.
The news cycle is a direct reflection of what's grabbing consumer attention in real-time. Successful businesses will heed it's advice and use it to "look outside" in times of crises, but also how to "look inside" effectively to determine where to save costs and make responsible business choices.
There is not enough content that speaks about why the opportunity in all of this for existing companies, and new companies that will be born now and be with us forever. For the next Airbnb of healthcare, of fitness, of home improvement, lookoutside.
