Every Mother Raises New Funding To Provide Millions Of Mothers With A Clinically Proven And Effective Workout They Can Do At Home Or On The Go -…
NEW YORK, May 6, 2020 /PRNewswire/ --Every Mother, a clinically proven fitness program for pre and post-natal women, today announced the closing of a $1.5M seed round led by Courtside Ventures with participation from Serena Williams' Serena Ventures, Techstars Ventures, The Fund, and prominent angels Robin Berzin (Parsley Health), Ilia Papas (Blue Apron), and Jenny Fielding (Techstars and The Fund). These funds will be used to help Every Mother accelerate growth and scale its operations to meet an ever growing demand from mothers around the globe for an easily accessible, clinically proven streaming fitness method that will help them repair and recover from issues that are often viewed as collateral damage of motherhood and made worse by traditional exercise.
"When Leah and I started Every Mother, we were both disheartened and motivated by the lack of education and dearth of fitness options available that properly address and responsibly protect against the physical changes that accompany childbirth," said Allison Rapaport, CEO of Every Mother. "From our launch until now, our clinically proven approach has struck a chord with moms at all points in their lives who were relieved to know they didn't just have to accept perpetual discomfort around their core. These women learned the way they moved and exercised could change what they felt forced to accept, and that they could reap tremendous benefits from carrying these lessons through their ongoing fitness lifestyle. Through this new round of funding, we will now not only be able ensure that we have the best talent to help us expand and scale, but we will have immediate access to partners that we can grow with and gain strategic guidance from to further our mission of providing safe, convenient, effective fitness solutions to every mother."
Unlike other, more expensive pre and post-natal fitness programs that focus solely on helping mothers lose their baby weight or bounce back post pregnancy, Every Mother's method is designed to address a number of physical issues that mothers face, including resolving and repairing diastasis recti or ab separation, while helping alleviate back pain and urinary incontinence, so women who are suffering can feel whole again. In fact, the company has conducted studies with leading research hospitals including Weill Cornell that show Every Mother's method not only does no harm for diastasis recti, but that it actually resolves it, and helps alleviate the accompanying symptoms of a protruding waistline, urinary incontinence and back pain. This Summer, Every Mother will release the results of a prospective non-randomized trial with Hospital for Special Surgery, with support from Harvard Medical School, designed to demonstrate the statistical significance of diastasis recti improvement and build awareness and acceptance in the medical community, to help more mothers avoid surgery and lifelong discomfort from a condition that is resolvable with exercise.
"As investors in the fitness and wellness space, we meet a lot of companies that have theoretical ideas of how to solve for physical ailments, but rarely do we have the opportunity to partner with a company whose clinically proven approach is the foundation of the methodology," said Kai Bond at Courtside Ventures. "Allison and Leah at Every Mother have been able to create more than a wellness platform, but also a community that has transformed the lives of all mothers."
Every Mother's program is designed to be incredibly easy to use. Mothers simply sign-up for a quarterly or annual membership, answer three questions to get to the correct stage, and for as little as just $10 a month, they gain access to a curated track of the best information and programming possible to meet them wherever they are on their pre and postnatal fitness journey.
Once onboarded, mothers are empowered to begin learning the foundations of safe and effective movement that can be progressively woven through their day. Featuring highly curated video content that leverages Leah Keller's lauded EMbody method, as well as tips from experts including well known nutritionists, OBGYN's and more, Every Mother provides multiple exercise paths with a daily dose of core movement, full body fitness, optimal reminders, progress tracking and integrated community links to foster a lifetime of superior core strength, function and fitness, all within a supportive and motivating environment.
"Every Mother immediately caught our attention for its ability to successfully address this incredibly important and much needed area of female fitness that had, up until this point, been readily misunderstood or even ignored," said Jenny Fielding, MD Techstars. "We knew the team at Every Mother was onto something big. We are proud to have invested in Every Mother at Techstars NY and to be upping our investment again in this groundbreaking company again today."
As a company led by busy working moms, Every Mother is constructed to create extraordinary results in only 10 to 30 minutes a day. Its guided streaming video experience is designed to ensure this important group doesn't have to think about how to exercise but instead knows exactly what to do and how long it will take them each day, so that it fits directly into their lives. The program is also equipped with scheduled reminders, a diastasis recti tracker and other built-in tools for accountability, to ensure mothers can achieve the ultimate long term benefits of its approach.
At the core of the program is Every Mother's supportive community that creates a bond between members and a sense that everyone is in it together to help mothers achieve their goals. In connection with rethinking the way they move, mothers find the community aspect so helpful, they usually come in for one pain point but end up staying and progressing throughout Every Mother's entire program, addressing different and important stages of fitness throughout their journey.
"At Serena Ventures, we often look for companies that make everyday life easier. As a mother, I have experienced first-hand how hard recovery from childbirth can be, and the moment we were introduced to Every Mother, we knew we had to get involved," said Serena Williams, founder of Serena Ventures.

Aged care residents benefit from tailored exercise programs – Have a Go News
Tailored exercise programs led by accredited exercise physiologists dont just provide physical benefits for residents living in aged care they improve mental wellbeing and social engagement, according to new Edith Cowan University (ECU) research.
A series of studies led by ECU Associate Professor Annette Raynor from the School of Medical and Health Sciences has investigated the benefits of a 12-week exercise program delivered by an accredited exercise physiologist for older adults living in three different residential aged care facilities in Perth.
According to health authorities, more than 50 per cent of the 230,000 Australian residents living in aged care experiencesymptoms of depression.
The new studies have provided preliminary evidence for the feasibility and effectiveness of an accredited exercise physiologist-led therapy program to promote residents physical and psychosocial wellbeing.
Associate Professor Raynor said previous research on exercise in aged care had tended to focus on thephysical effectsof resistance training and balance programs on fall prevention and in promoting functional capacity and mobility.
This focus on the physical outcomes from exercise often decreases the significance of psychosocial benefits, such as enhanced independence, elevated mood and reduced agitation that can also be achieved with exercise, Associate Professor Raynor said.
The program led to improvements in residents sense of independence, autonomy and social engagement. Residents demonstrated improvements in balance, strength, flexibility and mobility. The individualised structure of the program enabled residents to foster personal connections and accommodated specific needs relating to cognitive and physical impairments.
While the exercise programs achieved physical improvements in balance, strength and flexibility, other significant benefits such as increased connectedness and motivation were also observed.
Associate Professor Raynor said staff had noticed that residents were coming out of their rooms more often, joining in activities, their mood was enhanced and they were generally more happy.
One lady we worked with had experienced a stroke. She couldnt dress herself or go to the toilet unassisted. Prior to her stroke she had been very independent and found her current situation frustrating.
Through the exercise program she regained some independence, was able to join classes, choose her own clothes and go to the bathroom on her own, Associate Professor Raynor said.
These are the changes we were looking for an increase in strength and functional ability are great, but the extra benefits that this enhanced physical ability brings to the residents quality of life demonstrated the meaningfulness of the program.
Associate Professor Raynor said exercise interventions in aged care in WA were typically not delivered by exercise physiologists, who are specifically trained to deliver tailored exercise programs.
Because this exercise program was led by an exercise physiologist, they could prescribe and deliver one-on-one or group sessions tailored specifically to each individual.
This also meant they could build personal relationships and adapt the exercise to the residents needs, she said.
The paperIts not just physical: Exercise physiologist-led exercise program promotes functional and psychosocial health outcomes in aged careis published in in theJournal of Aging and Physical Activity.

Retired Fighter Pilot Performs Brain Training Exercises at (Close to!) Mach Speed– Challenges Kids to Train Their Brain and Attempt to Beat His Time…
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo., May 5, 2020 /PRNewswire/ --Colonel Jeff Moore, USAF, Retired, has accepted hundreds of life-changing challenges throughout his remarkable career. As an F-16 fighter pilot in the United States Air Force, he was used to flying at speeds of up to 1,500 miles per hour while operating under high G-forces and simultaneously processing multiple sources of information at a rapid pace in combat.
But in 2014, when his 9-year-old son Evan began one-on-one brain training at LearningRx to help defeat his struggles with reading and attention, Moore became fascinated with the challenges, achievements, and mental sweat that Evan's training sessions provided. It reminded him of his pilot training.
So when Kim Hanson, CEO of LearningRx, invited Moore to be a guest on her "Train Your Brain Tuesday" video series, Moore jumped at the opportunity.
"Even though my wife, Amy, is an educational psychologist and the director of research for LearningRx, I was skeptical about brain training until I saw the results for myself. Not only did Evan's cognitive skills improve dramatically, he defeated his reading struggles completely. I became such a believer in the program that I even joined the LearningRx research team as a cognitive trainer for a couple of years after retiring from the Air Force. I guess you could say brain training is in the Moore family's DNA!"
In this latest video episode, which offers free interactive brain training exercises and activities that kids of any age can do at home, Hanson challenges Moore to a brain-building exercise that requires him to add, subtract, and multiply a series of numbers in as short a time as possible. "I've been away from brain training for more than three years, so I was excited to see if my cognitive skills were still on-point."
And that, they were. Moore successfully completed 36 numbers in just 35 seconds. At the end of the video, Hanson encourages parents and their kids to complete the same challenge using a standard deck of playing cards. Anyone who films themselves beating Moore's impressive speed of 35 seconds, can submit their video to LearningRx's Facebook page where it will be posted and promoted.

The Importance of a Supportive Employer and Flexible Work Environment – Society of Women Engineers
The current world pandemic has highlighted to me the importance of an employer who is supportive of the employee, both professionally and personally, and encourages a flexible work environment. I work for HP Inc., and I feel very fortunate to work for them right now. Having a flexible working arrangement has been a defining characteristic of my career and is something that I value highly.
Three main components create a flexible work environment: time, location and assignment. I have utilized all these components throughout my career at HP.
Flexibility with time is varying when you are working within the day as well as the total time spent on work activities. Many engineers shift their work hours to accommodate meetings across time zones (coming in early or staying late), specific projects (timed-testing and specialty tests), exercise programs, family activities, and volunteer projects. I volunteered with SWE outreach programs and FIRST Robotics, and for both activities I left work early to spend my time encouraging students to pursue engineering careers. I have also shifted my time to volunteer for non-engineering activities, like elementary school field trips, doctors visits, and sporting events for my kids. The willingness of HP to accommodate these activities allows me to be a complete person and fills my bucket, creating a happy employee.
Flexibility with location is something that many employees are experiencing currently. However, before the pandemic began, working from home was a key component to my success as a parent and employee. Right now, Im working from home 100%, and while its not ideal, it enables me to help my kids with their schoolwork and take care of family matters. During normal times, I would take morning or evening telecons from home to allow quick transitions from work to kid activities. Some employees even use alternate locations as a home base during conferences or while visiting family.
Assignment flexibility allows managers to work with individuals to vary the experience for optimal productivity and fit, depending on ones life situation and the business situation. Certain projects lend itself to remote management while others require on-site or in-person presence. Assignment flexibility requires buy-in from team members and management. Two ways I have experienced assignment flexibility are first, being assigned to projects that dont require extensive travel when my kids were little, and second, taking on a role that involved test areas which were able to continue work while I was not physically present, allowing my impact to not be limited to my personal work hours. I also see this flexibility firsthand as coworkers grapple with medical issues or home situations demand more attention than work.
Management by Objective is necessary to create this flexible environment. Employees can contribute to the best of their ability throughout their career, benefitting both the employer and the employee. Employees are happier, healthier, and more dedicated to coworkers when allowed to be contributing members of their communities in addition to accomplishing their work objectives.
As I prepare to travel to another state and care for my mother, a recovering COVID-19 patient who was on a ventilator and hospitalized for four weeks, I am reminded of why I value the flexible work environment. I plan to work remotely and use some PTO during my time away from my family. Throughout her illness, my management and coworkers have been extremely supportive of my needs and accommodating with my projects. They have gone out of their way to show care and concern. This isnt the first time. I have seen these caring actions and flexibility offered to many employees throughout my tenure at HP. I realize that not every job and function has this remote work capability, and I am grateful for my current situation.

Six top training tips to prepare for the return of rugby – South Wales Argus
TRAINING grounds and pitches have been empty since the Welsh Rugby Union suspended the season in mid-March because of the coronavirus pandemic.
Players, from professional level down, are in lockdown and are without their usual sporting routine.
Elite squads are guided by full-time strength and conditioning, sport science and medical staff, who send programmes and stay in touch to prepare for a progressive return to rugby.
Below that level the advice, physical and mental, for players drops off but here are six top tips from Chris Jenkins (pictured below), the former head physio at the Dragons who was with Russia at last years World Cup in Japan
1. Develop or maintain a good routine
Instil good routines now sleep, diet, training, recovery sessions and then add rugby into your new routine at later date. It is sometimes hard to install these new routines while playing, so use the chance now to develop them and you will start next season a better player than when you left.
2. Self-analyse your physical condition for rugby
Perform a self-analysis of your current physical state as a rugby player what are your strengths?
What are your weaknesses? What opportunities are there for you right now to improve the physical qualities within your body? What is preventing you from taking these steps?
By doing this you may improve your performance and reduce your risk of future injury.
3. Resolve and improve current or old injuries
If you have any ongoing pain and niggles, for example patella or Achilles tendon problems or Groin programs, now is the time to work on them.
It is very difficult in season to work on these injury areas as the combined load of matches, training and working life lead to little time and a reliance on medications.
It may still be a significant amount of time before we train and play rugby, and a 6 to 12-week intensive rehabilitation program may lead to a significant improvement in your condition.
4.Home workouts
For those that are fit and injury-free, ensure your home exercise programs mimic aspects of the game.
The game involves explosive sprinting and change of direction, and this is currently missing from many home exercise programmes due to lack of access to weights/space.
A way to counter this and get power back to prevent the risk of re-injury on return to rugby is to plan drills that are relevant to the game.
Down-ups, hill running, short sprints, jumping, hopping and burpees mimic the high intensity nature of the game.
Get advice if you have never included these in your programme before and add to your home workout - you will feel better for it when pre-season starts and it could reduce your risk of injury.
5. The mental game
At the top level, players individually and in groups have access to many different professionals that bring a new dimension to their recovery and mental aspect of the game.
Access to sports psychologists has led to an improvement in the mental health aspects. There are many options available here: meditation, breathing routines, yoga.
It is all being done at the highest levels of the game. There are lots of good books, YouTube videos and apps to help explore this important aspect of modern game.
6. Connect and stay in touch with coaches and teammates
This is a challenging time and you are not alone. Join Zoom and enjoy what these meetings with your rugby teammates and community can offer.
Stay positive and busy, follow the World Rugby guidelines on coronavirus, control what you can control and come out ready for your best season yet!

And well, you just thought of it and we are ready with the diet plan the singer was following that made her lose so much weight.
According to the reports in Sun Online, Adele has shed almost 50 pounds or 20 kgs over the course of a year, all thanks to the Sirtfood diet that attributed her to go flab to fab. Aidan Goggins, the author of The Sirtfood Diet, tells the portal that the singer has "publicly shunned conventional dieting and extreme exercise in the past", instead of losing weight by eating her "favourite food." Thats not it, with a diet plan, comes a little exercise to maintain the balance and reportedly she took up pilates even though not being a fan of the exercise regime, revealed by her instructor. "I don't believe she liked exercise much but she has changed her lifestyle and I believe that 90 per cent was dieting," said Goodis to Sun Online.
So what is the Sirtfood diet? Well, it said that there are certain kinds of 'Sirtfoods' which activate proteins in the body called 'Sirtuins'. However, specific proteins in the body regulate stress levels, inflammation, as well as the ageing process. The foods which are included in the diet are green tea, apples, parsley, turmeric, red wine, blueberries, dark chocolates, citrus fruits, soy, olive oil, kale and coffee. But before you start making notes of it, we should also let you know that even though it is a diet that Adele has been practising and has done some wonders to help her shed extra kilos, it is not necessary it will work the same in your favour as well.

New Delhi: Today, May 6, is celebrated as International No-Diet Day (INDD) every year. Created by Mary Evans Young in 1992, the day is designed to promote a healthy lifestyle with a focus on health at any size. INDD celebrates the beauty and diversity of all body types. It aims to increase awareness of the potential health risks of dieting and the unlikelihood of success - particularly on weight loss maintenance.
Perhaps, the anti-diet movement seems to be gaining momentum in recent years, with many people opting for intuitive eating instead of fad diets and restrictive eating regimens. One reason for this shift could be due to the mounting evidence showing that dieting doesnt work in the long term. A number of studies have shown that dieting may provide short-term results when it comes to weight loss, which means almost every dieter is likely to regain that lost weight in the long term. So, on International No-Diet Day, let us tell you what actually happens to your body when you stop dieting and adopt a healthy eating plan.
So, instead of going on a diet, adopt a balanced diet that will provide your body with essential vitamins and minerals it needs to keep you fit and healthy.
