How to talk to a loved one about their weight and its links to severe coronavirus – Telegraph.co.uk

It's a conversation that no one wants to have. Obesity isa notoriously sensitive and personal topic for many people, makingaddressing someone's weight a delicate process at the best of times.

But as the links between being overweightand severecoronavirus symptoms grow more clear, it is an exchange we could soon be having.New figures from the UKs Intensive Care National Audit and Research Centre found that the proportion of morbidly obese patients in intensive care units is twice the proportion in the general population. NHS data, meanwhile, suggests thatobesity raises the risk of dying from coronavirus in hospital by almost 40 per cent.

Of course, that doesn't makethe conversations around weight any easier. So, how should you broach this loaded subject with a loved one?

Although it's not the easiest conversation to have, remember that addressing arelative about being overweightcould potentially save their lives - so you shouldn't feel guilty about approaching the topic.

For Sarah Le Brocq,a director at Obesity UK, incorporating Covid-19 into the conversation around obesity can be done in a more matter of fact way than talking about just weight in general.

The evidence around coronavirus and weight is out there, so it feels like less of a personal attack, she says. I would say something like: 'in a larger body size you may be atincreased risk of more severe consequences of Covid-19.'

"Avoid phrases such as 'you will get the virus because of this'. Just gently show them that they are more likely to, and offer them support.

Dr Kate Mason is a clinical psychologist from the Roots Psychology Group. She says the conversation is always going to bedifficult because the topic of weight is enmeshed with this idea of self worth.

If you make them feel shamed by it, or take the mick out of them and youre too obvious with your language, it is likely to make things worse, she says.

Dr Mason says the key to speaking to a loved one about their weight lies inbeing mindful of both the language you choose, and how youpresent your intentions. She recommends approaching the subject at a time when your relative is feeling relaxed and avoid making it into a formal sit down conversation, or speaking about weightduring mealtimes.

Keep the focus on their health and feelings," she says. "Rather than directly telling someone that theyre putting on weight, try encouraging them to be healthier, and incorporate yourself into that conversation too - saying we is better than saying you'."

An example of this could be: "I tend to feel rubbish when I put on weight. I noticed you're looking low and fed up. Is there anything we can do?"

In practice, this means going on a run together, or learning to cook healthy meals rather than baking a cake. However, Dr Mason maintains its important not to monitor their health and exercise, as this could make them feel like they're the problem.

"You shouldnt say anything that can be interpreted as shaming and embarrassing - something that would imply theyre not good enough, or you might not love them if they put on weight," says Dr Mason.

For Le Brocq, you can effectively open the conversation by using a broad question that avoids the subject of diet and weight altogether.

Try saying something like, 'how are you feeling',or, 'do you need any support at the moment'.This allows them to explain if theyre feeling anxious, and you can guide the conversation from there," she says. "To avoid people getting defensive, it'simportant to recognise obesity is acomplex issue that involves more than just diet. Steer clear of conversations such as, 'have you thought about what you're eating' as these can feel like a personal attack."

Erectile dysfunction is more than a sexual problem – it could be an early sign of cardiovascular disease – TheHealthSite

Guys, if youre having problem with your sexual performance or suffering from erectile dysfunction (ED), get your heart health checked. A study published in the Journal of the Endocrine Society suggested that erectile dysfunction could also be a sign of a mans risk for cardiovascular disease and early death. This risk exists regardless of your testosterone levels. Also Read - Men with erectile dysfunction at high risk of death: Know the factors leading to this problem

Erectile dysfunction, also known as impotence, is characterized by the inability to develop or maintain an erection of the penis during sexual activity. This condition occurs more often in older men, and it is more often linked to low levels of testosterone. In previous studies, low testosterone levels have been linked to a higher risk of death in middle-aged and older men. But those results have been inconsistent, said Dr. Leen Antonio of KU Leuven-University Hospitals in Belgium, the lead researcher on the new study. Also Read - Indiscriminate use of marijuana ups your risk of heart ailments

Dr. Antonios team examined the relationship between hormone levels and sexual function in men. Surprisingly, they found that having erectile dysfunction is a bigger issue than low testosterone levels. Also Read - Not satisfied with your sex life? Some sexual health issues you shouldnt ignore in the New Year

As both vascular disease and low testosterone levels can influence erectile function, sexual symptoms can be an early sign for increased cardiovascular risk and mortality, said Antonio.

Dr. Antonios team analyzed data from nearly 2,000 men ages 40 to 79 in five medical centres. They examined the relationship between their hormone measurements and sexual function. During the average follow-up period of 12.4 years, 25 per cent of the men died. Of the men who died, those with normal testosterone levels and erectile dysfunction had a 51% higher risk of death than those without these symptoms.

They also found that men with low total testosterone levels and sexual symptoms had a higher risk of death compared with men with normal testosterone levels and no sexual symptoms.

Higher risk of early death was found in men with sexual symptoms such as erectile dysfunction and poor morning erections. But the researchers didnt find association of low libido with a higher risk of early death.

In addition to low testosterone levels, erectile dysfunction may result from clogged arteries, or cardiovascular disease, which can impede the blood flow necessary to create an erection. Thats why erectile dysfunction, regardless of testosterone levels, can indicate a risk for heart disease and early death.

According to Dr. Antonio, the blood vessels that provide blood for an erection are smaller than the coronary arteries. This means that when theres a build-up of plaque in the arteries (atherosclerosis) the blood flow in the penile vessels may be affected earlier than in the coronary arteries.

Some other possible causes of erectile dysfunction include

Erectile dysfunction can be both prevented and treated by practicing a healthy lifestyle, Dr. Antonio said. Treating heart disease risk factors such as smoking, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and obesity may also help prevent the sexual disfunction, the researcher suggested.

Antonio noted that sexual symptoms could be an early warning sign of poor or worsening health status as well as an increased risk for cardiovascular disease and mortality.

So, it is important to discuss sexual symptoms with your doctors to identify and treat other cardiovascular risk factors or apparent cardiovascular disease, the study author added.

Why do women gain weight during menopause? – The Conversation AU

For most women, perimenopause the transition to menopause begins in their 40s. The entire menopause process typically lasts around four years and begins with the ovaries making less estrogen.

A woman is considered to be post-menopausal when she hasnt experienced a menstrual period for 12 months. This usually occurs between the ages of 46 to 52 years.

Read more: How to make work menopause-friendly: don't think of it as a problem to be managed

Symptoms of menopause can include irregular periods, hot flushes, fatigue, tender breasts, night sweats, vaginal dryness, difficulty sleeping, changes in mood and lower libido.

During menopause, hormonal changes can affect the way fat is distributed in the body, but ageing is more likely to be the cause of any weight gain associated with menopause.

Gaining weight isnt inevitable, though. Theres plenty you can do to combat weight gain as you age.

Certain areas such as your stomach are more prone to weight gain during menopause. This is because the change in hormones, which lead to a higher testosterone-to-estrogen ratio, alters where the body deposits fat. Fat comes off the hips and is deposited around the middle.

But the hormonal changes involved in menopause arent the reason you gain weight.

The weight gain that comes with menopause is a by-product of ageing.

As we age, our body stops working as efficiently as it did before. Muscle mass starts to decrease a process known as sarcopenia and fat begins to increase.

And because muscle mass is one of the determining factors of how fast your metabolism will run, when your muscle mass decreases, your body starts to burn fewer calories at rest. This might make it more challenging to maintain your weight.

As we age, we tend to continue with our same food habits but dont increase our activity. In fact, aches and pains can make some people actively decrease theirs.

Not compensating for the ageing process and the change in body composition can lead to weight gain.

And this applies to men too they are just as likely to gain weight due to this process known as sarcopenia.

Due to a change in body fat distribution and increase in waist circumference, menopause can also increase your risk of other health conditions.

Read more: Hot flashes? Night sweats? Progesterone can help reduce symptoms of menopause

Following menopause, your ovaries make very little of the hormones estrogen and progesterone. Estrogen helps to keep your blood vessels dilated relaxed and open which helps keep your cholesterol levels down.

Without estrogen, or with lower quantities, your bad cholesterol (known as low-density lipoprotein or LDL-cholesterol) starts to build up in your arteries. This can increase your risk of heart disease and stroke.

Having less estrogen also results in a loss of bone mass, putting you at risk of the disease osteoporosis, which makes your bones more prone to fractures.

Weight gain associated with ageing is not inevitable. There are a number of things you can do to maintain your weight as you age.

1. Exercise

Incorporate regular daily exercise, with a mixture of intensities and variety of activities. Try to include body-strengthening exercises two days per week.

2. Weigh yourself but not too much

Weigh yourself once a week at the same time and day to monitor the trend over time. Any more than this will only create a fixation with weight. Day-to-day fluctuations in weight are to be expected.

3. Create positive habits

Create positive habits by replacing negative behaviours. For example, instead of mindlessly scrolling through social media of an evening or turning on the TV and comfort-eating, replace it with a positive behaviour, such as learning a new hobby, reading a book or going for a walk.

Read more: How to beat weight gain at menopause

4. Eat more slowly

Eat food away from technological distractions and slow down your food consumption.

Try using a teaspoon or chopsticks and chew your food thoroughly as slowing down your food consumption reduces the quantity consumed.

5. Switch off from technology:

Turn off technology after dusk to improve your sleep. Blue light emission from phones, tablets and other devices tell your brain its day, instead of night, which will keep you awake.

Lack of sleep (less than six hours per night) can compromise your decision-making abilities which might lead you to make unhealthy choices that contribute to weight gain.

6. Curb sugar cravings naturally

If youre craving sugar youre better off reaching for foods naturally high in sugar and fat first. Some great options are fruits, nuts, avocado and 100% nut butters. These foods release the same feel-good chemicals in the brain as processed and fast food and leave us feeling full.

Allow yourself your favourite treats, but keep them to once per week.

Heres What Chris Evans Does To Look Like Captain America – TheThings

Chris Evans told Huff Post that getting in Captain Americashape really wasnt easy: Working out sucked, eating sucked more. You get to a point where you just cant even look at another piece of chicken. Youre just so bloated, but you just have to keep consuming protein, so that was tricky.

Just likeDwayne Johnson, Evans needed to bulk up, which meant that he needed to up his meal intake. He ate endless protein, in the form of chicken breasts and protein shakes.

The tricky part was not spilling over and gaining fat, and well discuss everything Evans did in order to avoid that outcome. From his workouts to his eating habits, well look at everything that went into turning Evans into Captain America.

Enjoy the article and, like always, be sure to share it with a friend. Lets get started!

Hollywood celebs who are building for shirtless roles usually need to lose weight via rigorous diets. Chris Evans talked about workouts to Huff Postand explained that things were a little different for him. He actually needed to gain weight instead of losing it. He explained that the process was a challenging one, both nutrition-wise and training-wise;

It was just relentless. Ive got a fast metabolism and I lose weight very quickly, so for me to get big, it was just eat a lot.

As Chris Evans explained to Extra. the nutrition part was a grind every single day, especially given all the chicken breast he was forced to eat. By the end of it, he couldnt even look at a chicken breast the same way.

Evans was also careful with carb choices and usually ate his chicken with some plain brown rice. There really wasnt an easy way out when it came to food!

According to Evans trainer, a lot of his lifts included classic compound movements, such as the deadlift, squat and incline bench press. The bench was meant to bring out his upper pec, especially given that he was rocking the Captain America suit.

Along with the compounds, Evans also hit bodyweight exercises such as pullups and other movements that were meant to get his heart rate going.

RELATED -Heres What Ariel Winter Does To Stay In Shape

The name of the game with celebs tends to be lighter weights and more reps, as this workout regimen fills out muscle during a cutting phase.

However, Evans and his trainer took a different approach, attempting to tax the central nervous system with big weights and a lessened volume range. The workouts were grueling, and Evans admitted that he resented going to the gym for a little while.

It wasnt one of those programs that featured abs, chest, and arms every single day. The goal was to make Evans well-rounded, especially on-screen, while he was rocking the prestigious Captain America suit.

That meant back and leg exercises on their own days. Leg day was never easy. It was quite a grind for Evans.

When it came to his carb intake, Evans trainer was very cautious about what kind of carbs were going into Chris' body.

Among the acceptable carbs were specific fruits, such as berries, which are low in calories compared to other fruits. Apples were also allowed - apples are an easy fruit to consume, especially for a busy and active guy like Chris, who is always on the go.

His workout schedule, according to Super Hero Jacked, featured five days in a row, which were followed by two rest days on the weekend.

He wasnt hitting multiple body parts at once - instead, the goal was single body parts on each day. So, day one featured legs, while day two was back, and day three was the chest. He ended the week with biceps and triceps, followed by a delt day.

He had at least six meals a day - for someone like Dwayne Johnson, that is considered breakfastfor the rest of us, though, thats a lot of meals per day. A couple of meals consisted of pre and post-workout snacks, to fuel and build or to repair.

Supplementation is required to supplement a need you arent meeting through your daily diet. For Chris, that was protein, as eating massive amounts of chicken breasts wasnt always possible...although he did eat plenty of chicken, Evans turned to shakes throughout the day to up his protein levels.

He also fueled his workouts with a BCAA drink that gave him extra energy.

RELATED -What Chris Evans is Up to Post-Captain America

The protein intake was sky-high - he was basically upping his protein total with every meal he ate. Chicken breasts were the key source, given how protein-dense they are, matched with a low-fat total ranging around 1.5 grams of fat per serving. Evans also used protein shakes and lean fish, to change things up from time to time.

Carbohydrates werent as prevalent as Evans would have liked. It was a tricky project for his trainer, as they wanted Evans to look full and jacked, but not bloated.

In order to do this properly, they needed to be aware of his carb sources, which were limited to brown rice post-workout, along with healthy berries.

Mum who was ‘ashamed’ of her weight sheds eight stone – ExaminerLive

A care manager who was so ashamed by her weight that she only went to the supermarket after dark told how she shed nearly 8st.

Leanne Wrathall weighed 18st 6lb before her transformation which saw her shrink from a size 24 to a10.

The 36-year-old mum-of-four of Harlow, Essex, said her life was ruined by her weight, leaving her humiliated during nights out and so paranoid about attracting negative attention that she always made her husband fill up their car at the petrol station.

Just 5ft 1in tall, at her 18st 6lb heaviest, she was so big that her body mass index (BMI) used by medics to gauge a healthy weight was 46.8, compared to the NHS recommended range of between 18.5 to 24.9, meaning she was obese.

But Leanne, who has four children, Teagan-Faye, 12, Hayden-Leigh, 10, Teddy, eight, and Xander, three, with her care worker husband, Darren, 38, said her turning point came when she could not fasten an airline seatbelt over her belly prompting her to join the 1:1 Cambridge Weight Plan shedding 7st 10lb and making her a 10st 10lb size 10 to 12.

Recalling how she felt haunted by her massive belly, she said: Id wake up, put my hands on my stomach and think, Its still there.

I couldnt look at myself in the mirror. My husband would have to get out of the car to get petrol at the garage, because I was too worried that people were looking at me. They probably werent but in my head they were.

Leanne explained: I would shop in the supermarket at night when there were less people there to see me, because I was so paranoid.

And if I put something in my shopping trolley, even if it was for my children, I worried that people were thinking, She shouldnt be eating that.

Describing herself as a comfort eater, Leanne who had always been on the bigger side fell into bad habits, grabbing food whenever she could, because of the unsociable hours she worked as a care manager.

Every time she tried to lose weight, managing to shed six stone for her wedding 11 years ago, she could not keep it off.

If I was having a good day, I would celebrate by eating and if I had a bad day or was stressed, I would treat food as my comfort blanket, she said.

I realised I rarely ever ate because I was hungry.

If I was out with friends or my kids, if they did not finish their meal, I would finish it for them, she recalled.

Carbs were my downfall. I would eat a lot of pasta and convenience food, especially because of my work. I work long, unsociable hours and I would not have time to prepare dinner, so it would be pizza or a takeaway, then Id go to sleep.

Sometimes I wouldnt eat all day, then I would think, Well, I can treat myself.

Leanne continued: I felt awful about it. It left me depressed. My weight would be the thing I thought about last thing at night and first thing when I woke up in the morning.

Nights out also filled Leanne with dread weeks in advance, as she stressed about what to wear.

Id have friends come to stay from abroad and I couldnt bring myself to go on nights out with them, because of how I looked, she recalled.

If I did go out, I would sit in the corner, not even getting up to go to the toilet for the whole night. I would hold it in because I didnt want to walk across the room in front of people, she added.

I would stress for weeks if I had something coming up especially if anyone asked me what I was going to wear. I could not talk about it and on the night itself, I would sit in my bedroom crying.

I could not walk up the stairs without getting out of breath and I couldnt play with the kids.

She said: If my three-year-old was having fun in a soft play area, I wouldnt join him, because I was worried about what I looked like.

The final humiliation came for Leanne when she had to ask for a seatbelt extender before take-off on a flight to Romania.

I travel to Romania quite a lot, as I volunteer with charities, so the turning point for me was at the beginning of 2018, she said.

I had to ask for a seat belt extender. Id been stretching the seatbelt as far as I could and trying to hold in my stomach, but I simply couldnt fasten it. It was so embarrassing, she recalled.

That was the moment when I finally knew I had to lose weight.

Finding slimming groups intimidating, Leanne opted to follow the 1:1 Diet by Cambridge Weight Plan, where she met with her consultant Nikki one-on-one, rather than in a group.

Asked not to be told her starting weight, she only found out that she had reached 18st 6lb after she had lost three stone.

Swapping her usual junk food for shakes, porridge, snack bars and healthier meals like spaghetti Bolognese and cottage pie, the weight started to drop off.

I began to see results really quickly and every time I lost a stone, I would get a fridge magnet. Those fridge magnets felt like getting the Olympic gold medal, she laughed.

I lost eight pounds in the first week and a stone and a half in the first month. Then it was an average of a stone a month, she said.

If I went on holiday, Id have a little break from the plan, but I found I would naturally pick the healthier options.

I love the food. I know its full of goodness and nutrients, and especially at the moment, Im doing my best to keep healthy.

I also drink three litres of water a day, Leanne added.

Leanne even started to exercise doing a couple of cardio classes at the gym each week and taking part in charity runs slimming down to 10st 10lb by October 2019.

Now I just feel content. Im not saying I look in the mirror and say, Wow, I look good, but I feel much more confident, she said.

Im the first to suggest to my friends that we go to a concert, or meet up if theres a DJ on in town, she said.

We went on holiday to Ibiza in June and it was the best holiday weve ever had. I just enjoyed it and because I was enjoying it, the kids had a great time too. I was in the swimming pool playing with them.

I bought a different bikini to wear every day for the whole two weeks. In fact, I bought 16, so a couple of times I had to change, because I was determined to wear every one of them and Id never worn a bikini before.

She said: I stopped worrying what people were thinking and felt comfortable walking around the supermarket in daylight.

It takes a while for your brain to catch up with your body, so in my head I was not a size 10 and Id still go and pick up a size 14.

Someone would say, That looks big on you, so Id pick up a 10 and think, Oh my God it fits! As a size 16 I was still wearing a size 22!

Four people who have really benefited from Leannes weight loss are her children.

My kids love it, she said. They used to play a game where they would measure my waist by hugging me. Now they can touch their hands around me, whereas when I was big, they couldnt do that.

My consultant, Nikki, is fantastic. Its not a quick fix, its a lifestyle change and she has been there for me every step of the way.

Now I want other obese people to stop being miserable by following in my footsteps and losing weight. If I can do it then anyone can.

Adele’s birthday photo: Is celebrating weight loss fat-phobic? – Insider – INSIDER

Adele caused a stir on social media on Wednesday after posting photos of her 32nd birthday celebration in isolation and thanking first responders and essential workers for their service during the pandemic.

Fans and fellow celebrities complimented her "glow up" in the photo, in which she looks particularly slender.

The British singer-songwriter has apparently been losing weight since her divorce in September and has previously credited a special diet and a lot of Pilates. There was a buzz about photos of the singer looking slender after Drake's birthday party in October, then at a Christmas party, and then again on a beach in January.

Many have said the singer looks "gorgeous" and "unrecognizable," by way of a compliment.

But the latest photo has also sparked discussions about what it means to celebrate a person's weight loss. People have voiced concerns about whether it's appropriate to comment at all, and whether there's a healthy way to do so.

An expert told Insider that all the answers depend on context.

People on social media were quick to create memes about Adele's photo, but some also expressed concerns that the emphasis on weight loss could be unhealthy and harmful to people.

Roisin Ingle, a writer, pointed out that weight loss isn't an indicator of worth and said Adele should be celebrated for her talents.

Sherronda Brown has written that complimenting weight loss can be problematic in part because it assumes thinner bodies are more valuable, but also because it can put commentators' own insecurities on the person they're ostensibly celebrating.

"My body is not better now than it was six months ago just because it happens to take up less space, and I need people to stop trying to make me carry the weight of their own fat hatred," Brown wrote for Wear Your Voice magazine in March.

In response to previous posts about Adele's body, Audra Williams, a writer in Toronto, tweeted that weight loss could be a sign of serious physical or mental-health issues and that complimenting it out of context it could send a dangerous message that how you look is more important than whether you are healthy.

Studies have indeed found that while weight can be a component of health, factors like blood pressure, insulin resistance, and cholesterol levels are more important.

Fat-shaming could also contribute to greater health risks rather than motivate people to lose weight. And people with poorer body image can face a higher risk of heart disease and diabetes regardless of their body-mass index, or their height-to-weight ratio.

Pursuing weight loss no matter the health costs can also increase the risk of dangerous eating disorders and worsen health. And during a global pandemic, people can be particularly vulnerable to disordered eating.

Weight loss can also weaken your immune system, so right now even more caution than usual is important when considering or discussing weight loss.

Since weight loss is complex, discussions about it should be too, said Kelly Coffey, a certified personal trainer and health coach.

"To make a blanket statement that commenting on someone's weight is horrible is shortsighted," Coffey previously told Insider.

Coffey said that for people who have made an effort to lose weight or become fit, compliments can be an important source of validation and support, particularly when they come from people they care about.

"It can be incredibly validating and invigorating to have someone that you love notice and celebrate it if you've been trying to lose weight," she said.

But where comments can be problematic is if you know someone has a history of disordered eating or health problems, mental or physical, related to food, Coffey added.

And as Brown wrote, some people may prefer to be left alone entirely, particularly by those they don't know well. In that case, comments about their body in any way are likely better left unsaid.

If the person is someone you're close to and you aren't sure how your compliment will be received, the best approach is to ask the person directly what they're proud of and how they'd like to be supported, Coffey said.

"Ask them what they doing, how they're feeling, and then celebrate whatever thing they express pride in," she said. "Let them tell you what they want you to be excited about for them."

That might include weight loss, but it could also involve things like feeling more energetic or being stronger.

Simon Cowell weight loss how did the BGT judge lose weight? – The Sun

SIMON Cowell has lost a staggering four inches off his waist following his health kick.

The X Factor boss, 60, revealed his incredible weight loss transformation during a holiday to Barbados in 2019.

Simon has lost 20lb after embarking on a health and fitness regime.

He used to binge on sausage rolls, hamburgers and his favourite jam tarts made by his personal chefs.

But since ditching his unhealthy lifestyle he reveals he has managed to trim down by four inches on his waist.

Speaking exclusively to The Sun, Simon said: The most dramatic period was the first month where most of the weight comes off and you look at yourself and think wow.

I used to be 36 inch waist and now Ive lost four inches. Im really happy now."

Simon achieved his weight loss by reducing his meat intake and cutting out all sugar.

He overhauled his diet after suffering a fall on his stairs inside his London home October 2017.

The mogul blamed his injuries on his unhealthy lifestyle where he lived like a vampirestaying awake till 8am every morning.

On his new diet, he explains: All I do is avoid just red meat - white meat is fine - and I eat loads of vegetables, salads and drink this great beer.

If youre on a diet you have to keep the food sensible, but its got to be interesting and tasty, then the diets surprisingly easy.

Im on a diet but it doesnt feel like it now because the food I eat is really healthy and I dont find it tedious. If its boring you wont stick to it.

He admits hes astonished by how good he looks, especially as hes still been able to drink his favourite alcoholic beverage - Corona Premium Light.

You can drink this light beer but youve got to be sensible about quantities. I have loads more energy and feel great," he said.

In previous interviews, Simon has hinted that he was following a vegan diet.

He told Dan Wootton in April 2019 that he had cut out meat, dairy, wheat, sugar and was planning to ditch fish too.

Simon said at the time: A friend of mine, who is a doctor, recommended speaking to an expert, and I did it on a whim.

I was allergic to melon, so I didnt eat it for six months, but I saw this man and he explained it and it made sense.

Within 24 hours I changed my diet and Ive not looked back since. You feel better, you look better.

I cut out a lot of the stuff I shouldnt have been eating and that was primarily meat, dairy, wheat, sugar those were the four main things.

He added: "I can eat fish but this year I will go the whole way.

However in an interview with The Sun in January 2020, he admitted he still eats white meat such as chicken and turkey.

He said: All I do is avoid just red meat - white meat is fine - and I eat loads of vegetables, salads and drink this great beer."

Simon admitted he was a pretty traditional eater - favouring comfort foods like jam tarts, hamburgers and spaghetti Bolognese.

But it turns out overhauling his diet wasn't as s hard as he first predicted.

He said: It was way easier than you may think. Like, I used to have yoghurt in the morning and I changed it to almond-milk yoghurts. I have almond milk in my tea.

I can eat certain fruits but not all fruits. You have to be careful because some fruit can have more sugar than a can of Coke.

Once you get into a pattern Ive found it quite enjoyable. It has helped me sleep and I wake up feeling less tired.

"I noticed a massive difference in how I felt in about a week. I have more energy and focus and it wasnt difficult.

"I dont like to use the word diet because thats the reason I never went on a diet before the word diet makes me miserable.
