New Hampshire fitness facilities ‘on the verge of bankruptcy’ – New Hampshire Business Review

Many of the states fitness facilities are on the verge of bankruptcy and may follow in the wake of the Golds Gym chain which filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on Monday if they dont get to reopen soon, Michael Benton, CEO of Genavix Corp., a national chain as well as the owner of three fitness centers in New Hampshire, told the Governors Re-Opening Task Force on Tuesday.

And shortly after his testimony, Hampton-based Planet Fitness, the largest fitness chain in the nation, announced sharply reduced earnings after being shut down for the last two weeks of the quarter.

Benton, speaking to the task force, said he thought the fitness industry could reopen safely, with strict social distancing and sanitation guidelines in place, by May 18.

At the very least, he urged the committee to let gyms reopen by June 1, so they can invite members back and collect monthly membership fees, which are usually due on the first of the month.

Fitness centers cant take advantage of the federal Payroll Protection Program, because virtual workout sessions only go so far, and gyms, unlike restaurants, cant offer takeout. We didnt apply for the PPP, said Benton, who owns Executive Health & Sports Center in Manchester, Express Fitness in Hooksett and the Sportsplex in Bedford.

There is no money to run our operation, he said.

But fitness centers are not just another sector of the economy. They are important to customers health

Disrupting a pattern of exercise hurts their ability and immune system to stay healthy, he said.

With help from others in the industry and based on the experiences of gyms that are open in other states Benton presented a detailed 19-page reopening plan. It would allow gyms with a front desk to remain open from no more than 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. at 50% capacity, and each member would be asked to have their temperature voluntarily taken. The staff would enforce social distancing.

Exercise equipment would be placed eight feet apart. Group exercise activities would still be allowed, but they too would be cut in half and people spaced 10 feet apart, and contact sports, like basketball, would remain closed. Pools would also be open at 50% occupancy. Showers and lockers would remain open, but saunas and steam baths shut.

In addition, staff would be offered personal protection equipment and at a minimum wear face masks, be behind Plexiglas shields, and shifts staggered to prevent congregating, with touchless or disinfected time clocks.

Hand sanitizers would be located throughout the facility and equipment would be sanitized after every use. No guests would be allowed and no new out-of-state members could sign up.

D.J. Bettencourt, chair of the task force, said a working group would consider the guidelines.

Even though Planet Fitness didnt testify at the hearing, Bettencourt said the company wished to participate in that group.

Everything You Need to Know About Dallas Fitness Studios (Eventually) Re-Opening – D Magazine

Gov. Greg Abbott gave the go-ahead for some Texas businesses to reopen last Friday. Gyms werent part of that initial opening, so fitness-focused Dallasites are waiting for an update on the next phase. That will include personal services like salons, barbershops, and gyms, the governor said. No date has been confirmed, but Abbott said he hopes to reopen these sectors in mid-May, barring another spike in COVID-19 cases.

After weeks of at-home exercise, we understand the temptation to take a workout class as soon as local studios reopen. That said, before you book your spot, make sure youre informed about the potential risks. Many studio owners arent sure its safe to hold classes in just a few weeks, even if the governor says they can. Heres what you need to know.

Several studios say they wont open for business until they feel comfortable doing so, regardless of whether Gov. Abbott clears them to.

Dallas County is still reporting its highest numbers of new infections and deaths, says Parker Williams, founder of The Ride House on Lovers Lane. I do feel it is a bit early for gyms to open.

I am excited at the prospect of re-opening, says Rumer Richardson, owner of BEYOND Studios. [However], due to the lack of diagnostic testing we still face, Im unsure [about it]. I will make our decision based on the number of new cases in Dallas County and the overall comfort [level of] myself, my staff, and my clients. Re-opening just to be open is not worth it if there is a high risk.

We will only reopen if we believe its safe for us to be at the studio, echoed Cyclebar in an email to members.

Others are eager to get back to business.

I must say I was a bit disappointed in the soft opening of Texas. Im really ready to re-open [gyms and studios], says Kay Gaskill, an instructor at Zynn22.

Back in March, when the first coronavirus cases were confirmed and local businesses were responding accordingly, we asked our favorite Dallas studios to share their updated safety and sanitation practices.

We will continue our streaming service even when we are able to open doors. We want clients near and far to feel comfortable working out as they please.

Some studios impressed us. Many, however, did not. A handful of studios revealed they were cleaning machines just once per day. Others were relying on members to wipe down their own equipment.

It was an unprecedented situation, and we couldnt fully fault the gyms that were less stringent. After all, at the time, group gatherings were still permitted. Now, months later, we canand shouldexpect more from fitness studios. Thankfully, it seems our local favorites are stepping up their cleaning practices.

BEYOND Studios, for one, has created new policies.

While we always had stringent practices between classes for our equipment, we relied on clients to help us clean, says owner Rumer Richardson. [Now], we will extend the time between classes and keep the doors locked as the instructors clean not only the equipment but also all door handles, bathroom fixtures, lockers, etc. We [have] always had neoprene handles that are easy to clean and have ordered more sets so we can deep-clean them more often.

Though social distancing in a small studio setting sounds difficult, every studio we spoke with has a plan in place to make sure classes are spread out. For most, itll be blocking off equipment or marking a spot for each student.

We plan to tape off the floor so yogis know exactly how far apart mats should be to practice in their own socially-distanced space, said Diana Rodgers, the owner of We Yogis.

Additionally, many studios have plans to minimize contact between students and instructors.

I am making sure to get information not just from the news but also from direct contacts in healthcare, the FDA, and CDC to ensure we are providing proper protection for our studio, says Richardson at BEYOND. The studios instructors will take their temperatures before each class, wear masks while they teach, and wear gloves while cleaning. They also wont be performing manual corrections.

One studio set a new standard by deep-cleaning the air in its classrooms. Our HVAC systems have aggressive fresh air capabilities and we run NASA-grade air purifiers, says Brandon Hartsell, CEO of SunstoneFIT. They completely mineralize airborne bacteria, mold, fungi, mycotoxins, viruses, allergens, VOCs, and odors. These systems run 24/7. Our rooms get complete air turnover between classes.

The bottom line: though most studios are taking sanitation seriously, dont be afraid to ask your go-to studio about its cleaning procedures before heading in. The companies we contacted all said they welcome questions and concerns. We make an effort to make our Climbers feel heard, so if they come to us with ideas, we are all ears, said District Climb creator Tamra Michelle. District Climb is as much ours as it is theirs.

Well be updating our guide to safely working out once studios are cleared to open.

Gov. Abbott has said he hopes to jump operational capacity to 50 percent in phase two of re-openings, which will include gyms, studios, salons, and other personal services. However, he has not yet announced official capacity restrictions.

Though most studios are taking sanitation seriously, dont be afraid to ask your go-to studio about its cleaning procedures before heading in.

Williams at The Ride House isnt sure what percentage of his clientele will be comfortable returning. I suspect numbers will be severely affected by [our members] understandable cautiousness, he says. [Theyre worried] about being in public spaces, around other people.

For planning purposes, some studios, such as Uptown Yoga, sent out surveys to ask members whether theyll feel comfortable practicing in-studio, and if so, what days and times they prefer.

Similarly, many of the studios we contacted plan to offer only their most popular classes and cap the occupancy at 50 percent or less. Classes at most studios will be spaced out throughout the day to accommodate regular deep cleanings.

ClassPass and StudioHop members might be waiting a while to get a workout in. The North Texas studios they partner with can choose if and when theyd like to reintroduce third-party bookings.

[Our] first week back open, we will have only BEYOND members and class package holders, says Richardson. We will slowly start allowing third-party systems, such as ClassPass and StudioHop, to visit. This is our way of thanking those who have directly supported us in this time.

As weve sheltered at home, many North Texas-owned gyms and studios have applied for small business loans. Unfortunately, each studio we spoke with had trouble navigating the process.

The complete failure of the PPP loans has left us in limbo just like millions of other businesses, says Williams of The Ride House. [Weve seen] slow implementation, erratic loan processes and approvals, confusion about eligible companies, and granting of loans to publicly traded companies that have thousands of employees [In contrast], many small business owners are uncertain of their ability to reopen.

I know this might be a heavy, dark look, but its the real world, Williams continues. Nothing is more frustrating than government officials saying that the aid packages are going flawlessly.

There has been no guidance from the government or banks regarding [loans], and when we do get guidance it is open-ended, says Richardson at BEYOND. [Were thankful for] the loyalty of so many members. [Very few] have paused their memberships during this time.

Some studios froze their members accounts when they closed. Our biggest struggle [has been] that loss of revenue for an extended, unknown time period, says Rodgers, of We Yogis.

It is possible that we will see hundreds of thousands of small businesses [close permanently as a result of lost revenue], continues Williams. The winners in that scenario are the corporations that will no longer have as much competition. The losers are, of course, the small business owners who have their whole lives invested. The clients who love the community feel of the locally-owned studios [lose, too].

If you want to support your favorite studio but arent ready to visit in person, consider subscribing to their streaming services.

For many locally-owned gyms and studios, class streaming has been the sole source of revenue. Some studios offer members-only access as an incentive for their students to keep their memberships active. Others have held donation-based live-streams. A handful boast free, publicly accessible class libraries.

Of course, free classes are temptingand in these uncertain economic times, we wont fault you for choosing one. Remember, though, that paid classes keep your go-to studios afloat until youre comfortable visiting in person.

While we pivoted rather quickly to streaming, other studios have provided similar services for free or markedly less, says Richardson at BEYOND. We have [chosen to] maintain our pricing at a rate that ensures we are able to pay the instructors adequately. We will continue our streaming service even when we are able to open doors. We want clients near and far to feel comfortable working out as they please.

If you frequent group classes because you love the energy, consider tuning in to a live-stream class for a similar feel. Many studios, like GRIT by Brit, also have virtual communities to help hold you accountable.

A few studios like TruFusion and Zyn22 are renting their equipment to members to use from home.

Our biggest triumph [is] launching an online platform almost overnight and renting out all of our bikes to give our members as close to an in-studio experience as possible, says Kristin Krezner of TruFusion.

We look forward to the day when we can safely operate at full capacity, continues Krezner. The vibe and energy in our packed studios is unparalleled.

Week 3 to include Drive-In Movies and supervised fitness centers – WVNS-TV

Gov. Justice and state officials provide an update for media on COVID-19 preparedness and response plans. For more information about COVID-19 prevention and more, call the States toll-free hotline at 1-800-887-4304 or visit Coronavirus.wv.gov.

Businesses allowed to reopen in Week 3 of the West Virginia reopening plan include wellness facilities, such as gyms and fitness centers supervised by licensed professionals, and Drive-In Movie Theaters. Rumors about businesses being given special permission by the Governor to open are false, according to Gov. Jim Justice. The Governor said they are issuing no special permissions.

West Virginians are still encouraged to stay at home if they can under the safer at home order. People should continue to follow the guidance of the DHHR and the CDC.

Dr. Clay Marsh said as West Virginia reopens there is increased risk to people. COVID-19 is not gone and residents of the Mountain State should be cautious as they go out. People are recommended to wear face coverings to protect themselves and others.

Telehealth services are still available even as hospitals and care facilities reopen. Secretary Bill Crouch said the DHHR is being told children are enjoying the telehealth process.

How to Clean Any Smartwatch, Wearable, or Fitness Band – How-To Geek

Washing your hands is an important part of personal hygiene, but what about the gadget on your wrist? Everywhere you go, it goes, too. You probably also use it with dirty hands while youre out and about.

The coronavirus can live on a smartphone for up to 96 hours. Your smartwatch or wearable could also be a vector for disease, unless you clean it regularly.

Your smartwatch is a fitness tracker, communication device, and can even replace your bank card for contactless payments. Going to the gym, accepting calls, and touching payment terminals can contaminate your wearable. If you touch your watch without cleaning it properly, you could be transferring germs.

Microorganisms that cause the flu and COVID-19 have been found to live on hard metal surfaces for up to three days, so cleaning everything regularly is important to avoid getting sick.

Apple recently updated its cleaning guidelines, recommending people disinfect their gadgets with isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol of around 70 percent concentration, or withdisinfectant wipesthat contain the same. Rubbing alcohol kills most microorganisms on contact, and then evaporates, leaving a clean and smudge-free surface.

While the guidelines for cleaning your Apple Watch are specific to Apple products, most manufacturers use similar materials, including glass, stainless steel, and nylon. This suggests Apples guidance can be applied to similar products. Just remember, if you break something by not following the manufacturers cleaning instructions, your warranty will be void.

You should be mindful of the instructions provided by your smartwatch manufacturer when cleaning it. Water isnt sufficient if you want to properly sanitize your watch. Apples guidelines reiterate that alcohol shouldnt damage glass, metal, silicon, or many plastics. Its a decision youll have to make yourself.

With that in mind, cleaning your smartwatch is pretty straightforward. First,remove the watch band from the main unit.Assuming the watch is water-resistant, rinse the watch in warm water to remove as much dirt and grime as possible before you disinfect.

Dirt can trap germs and other harmful microbes, so you want to be sure to remove it all, and then disinfect afterward. You can saturate a cotton ball in isopropyl alcohol to spot clean any particularly stubborn grime.

Next, use rubbing alcohol or similar wipes to disinfect the watch all over.Clean the band according to the manufacturer instructionstake care to spot clean leather without saturating it. If possible (and if youre comfortable doing so), disinfect the band with isopropyl alcohol.

Metal, silicone, and plastic watchbands are unlikely to be damaged by isopropyl alcohol. Nylon bands are also unlikely to be damaged, although Apple recommends against using rubbing alcohol on any of its fabric bands. We recommend performing a tester on an inconspicuous spot first.

Finally, allow the alcohol to evaporate before reassembling your watch. All done!

Fitness trackers are a lot like smartwatches, except theyre usually designed to be worn for longer periods of time. Fitbit has specific recommendations for cleaning its fitness trackers.Like Apple, this includes using isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol to disinfect devices.

Further, Fitbit recommends avoiding soap-based cleansers and other products that can get trapped in the band and cause skin irritation. Instead, the company recommends soap-free cleansers, plus a good rinse to make sure any dirt is sufficiently washed away.

Fitness and activity trackers are designed for exercise, so, of course, they get sweaty. A quick rinse in the shower is a good start, but it wont kill germs or remove more stubborn, stuck-on grime where harmful microorganisms can live.

Thats why you should take care to remove and clean your fitness tracker regularlyespecially after you work out.

Cleaning your fitness tracker is just like cleaning a smartwatch. Youll first need toremove the band from the unit, if possible (Fitbit owners can follow the companysofficial guidelinesto do this).

Assuming the tracker is water-resistant, rinse it under a tap to remove as much dirt as possible.If you see dirt remove as much of it as possible. Spot clean any stubborn patches with isopropyl alcohol and a cotton swab to loosen it up.

When the tracker is visibly clean, thoroughly disinfect it with rubbing alcohol or similar disinfectant wipes.Clean the band according to manufacturers instructions (again, Fitbit hasofficial guidelines).Disinfect the band with isopropyl alcohol or disinfectant wipes, if possible.

After the alcohol evaporates completely, reattach the band.

Smartwatches and fitness trackers arent the only wearables you need to clean regularly. Anything you wear out of the house is exposed to potentially harmful germs. This includes jewelry, badges, wearable cameras, and headphones and earbuds.

You should also sanitize regularly anything you touch a lot, like your smartphone, keyboard, mouse, and any other gadgets.

While Pump may not be the first rapper that comes to mind when thinking of hitting the gym, the mere mention of the popular fitness chain is just another sign of rap's affinity with looking and feeling good. Pump's gone through his own fitness journey, laying off the lean and slimming down in recent months. Whether it bephysical, mental, spiritual or otherwise, in celebration of National Fitness Day (May 2),hip-hop artists aresharing how and why they work on their fitness year-round, especially during quarantine.

ForYoung M.A,it's no secret that when she first came in the game, she loved her Hennessy. Turns out, she wasn't just drinking for fun. Themurder of her brother in 2009 brought on depression, anxiety and an overall unhealthy lifestyle for M.A. For like a whole year straight I was eating bad and drinking bad and I wound up gaining almost 20 pounds, she told XXL in the winter 2019 issue of the magazine. With the coronavirus quarantine putting a stop to hip-hop hitting the road, that hasn't prevented him from getting his fitness on at home. One thing he's sure to do: just say no to sweets.

Some gyms and fitness studios reopen with precautions in place – KFOR Oklahoma City

OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) Not every gym and fitness studio chose to reopen on May 1, but for those who did, there are extra precautions in place.

One fitness studio, Pilates on Western, chose to reopen with measures like smaller class sizes and extensive cleaning.

Co-owner Gina Bruno-Dunn says she was ready to get back open as soon as possible.

We felt like we could really control our space and make everybody safe, she said.

There are lots of distancing measures in place. Only four people are allowed in each pilates class on spaced-out machines. A maximum of six people is allowed for barre and yoga classes so everyone can be spread out.

A significant amount of extra cleaning is taking place.

Weve always sanitized everything prior, weve just kind of upped the game, weve added steaming, we do the floors, we take our shoes off, we encourage everyone to wash their hands, Bruno-Dunn said.

She says shes not concerned about people exercising together.

I feel like its a really controlled environment, youre not really close enough to anyone that I feel like you could spread germs, she said.

Some clients choose to wear masks when working out.

The studio moved to virtual classes during shelter-in-place, and theyre keeping that option if people dont feel safe going in.

Some clientshave still continued to stay home and continue with the virtual. I think that thats fine, everyone should do what theyre comfortable with. Everyones situation is different, Bruno-Dunn said.

When the novel coronavirus forced the shuttering of Denver gyms, Fitness In The City found itself in a familiar position: creating workouts with minimal equipment. The seven-year-old studio started in 2011 as an outdoor workout with friends. Sessions focused on functional fitness and typically didnt require much equipment beyond a patch of grass, maybe a step, or perhaps an exercise band. It gave us an outlet for people to come together and get movinga social outlet focused around wellness instead of bars, says co-owner Stefan Olander.

That group kept growing, though, so in 2013, FITC opened its first brick-and-mortar location in the Golden Triangle, and over the next several years added another in Five Points and partnered with the River Yoga and High Ride Cycle to offer members access to a variety of fitness activities. The workouts remained true to FITCs goals for functional fitness. While the studios gave trainers more options for the popular Power Hour workouts (full-body routines typically with weights), the sessions, especially the circuit-based meta ones, remained grounded in functional movementsthink step-ups from a kneeling position (aka getting up from playing Legos with kids) or holding a low squat (aka weeding).

When COVID-19 hit, FITC loaned its equipment to members and picked right up where it left the studio: Trainers put together a 32-day Quarantine Challenge, inviting members and the public to do as many of its once-a-day classes (streamed and then posted on FITCs YouTube channel) as felt reasonable. That library of workouts is still available for free to anyone. A $119 streaming membership gets you access to the daily live workouts at noon each day, and members have access to streamed classes from FITC and the River, as well as a private library of recorded workouts.

To date, FITC has sustained 90 percent of its membership, a testament to the relationships the studio has built with its clients, some of whom have been with them since before there was a studio, when FITC was just a park and a bunch of friends, bonding over sweat. Something weve always preached is community, Olander says. We always talk about how important it is and how much we focus on it, but the amount of support of love and support weve received from our members and how theyve held us up has solidified for us how important it is.

Workout type: HIITMuscle focus: Legs, core, cardioDuration: About an hour

The Workout: Part of Fitness In The Citys 32-day Quarantine Challenge, this workout sets your legs and lungs on fire. Three blocks of the same eight movements are peppered with surprise elements like burpees to help keep your heart rate up. Fortunately, the ample rests between 40-second bursts also give you plenty of time to recover. Structured like many of FITCs workoutswith one trainer (in this one, co-owner Eric Waller) instructing while others (Olander and Kathryn Morgan) are demoing the workoutthis one begins with a luxurious eight-minute warm-up before launching into dynamic movements. Throughout the session, Wallers instructive cues come at crucial timeslike when youre dying 30 seconds into scissor kicks. Also helpful: the modification suggestions to increase or decrease the difficulty of a particular movement, and the Spotify playlist FITC provides for you to sync up with at home. Nothing like a little Young Thug to help drown out the misery.

Google Fit: all about the smartwatch and phone fitness app, and what sports it tracks – TechRadar India

If you've ever used a Wear OS smartwatch, or searched for fitness apps on your iPhone or Android phone, you'll have come across Google Fit Google's fitness hub for tracking and recording your exercise and workouts.

There are plenty of fitness apps out there like Strava, Huawei Health, Fitbit and Apple Health, many of which are linked to specific wearables and Google Fit is very much of this vein, even if it lacks some of the social features of its competitors.

Since Google is such a ubiquitous software developer, it makes sense you'd consider Google Fit to be your fitness app of choice. If you've already got the app by choice, or by having a compatible smartwatch you might be surprised by some of the features it's got hidden away too.

That's why we've brought together this easy guide, so you can understand how to set up and make the most of Google Fit, including a full list of all the different sports it can track. Read on for everything you need to know.

If you don't already use Google Fit, here's how to get it working on whatever device you use.

Google Fit on a smartwatch

If you've got yourself a Wear OS smartwatch, the device will come pre-loaded with the Google Fit suite, but you'll still need to set it up to automatically track and store your data.

To set up your smartwatch in the first place, you'll already have downloaded the Wear OS app, and signed in with your Google account. So on your smartwatch when you try to log into Google Fit, the device will remember your account details.

Now Google Fit is set up on your smartwatch very easily, too! If you don't have a Wear OS smartwatch you can't use Google Fit on the device, though if you download the app onto your smartphone you can manually copy your fitness data if you wish.

Google Fit on a smartphone

Whether you've got an iPhone or Android phone you can use Google Fit easily. You can find it on the Play Store or App Store and download it for free.

When the app is downloaded, open it and log in with your Google account you'll need such an account to use Google Fit, but if you don't have one it's easy to set up.

When you're in, you'll find the app has all the functions of Google Fit on a smartwatch: you can track various activities, see records of your workouts, and add weight and blood pressure data too to fully get a catalogue of your health.

You can also add activities manually, so if you've got a smartwatch or fitness tracker that isn't a Wear OS device, you can track workouts with whatever app the wearable does use and type it in manually to Google Fit if you want.

While you can see all your workouts logged on your smartwatch, it's easiest to keep track of them all on the Google Fit app, and when you monitor a workout on the watch app the data is automatically sent to your phone, so it's easy to check out.

Runs or walks will count the number of steps, active time, distance run, calories burnt, and Move Minutes (used for Google Fit's Heart Points system), while graphs also show you heart rate, pace, and elevation over the run.

A map shows you the route you took too, but you won't get this if you don't give the app location permission, or use a smartwatch without any form of GPS.

You can see all your exercises in a timeline, where Google gives them names like "Morning walk" and "Lunch run" as well as showing mini maps and some of the stats from your workout. This way you can see the various patterns emerge in how you work out.

When you're not exercising, Google Fit can track your steps, whether you're using it on Wear OS or on your phone, though generally the former tends to be a little more accurate.

In the Google Fit app you can set yourself a step goal to work towards, and a progress wheel similar to the Apple Health's circle shows you how close you are to reaching that goal, and also how many of the aforementioned Heart Points you've achieved in the day.

For more accurate counts you can tell Google Fit your weight and height, but if you don't want a huge tech company having your exact body measurements (or simply don't know yourself, for whatever reason), you don't have to provide this for the step counter to work.

On Wear OS watches, Google Fit is actually broken up into three individual apps. There's Fit Workout to track your various exercises (detailed fully below), Fit Goals to see workout records, and Fit Breathe.

Fit Breathe is, as the name suggests, a guided breathing app that, over the course of two minutes, guides you through inhaling and exhaling to relax your respiration. Many wearables have a similar feature, and they can be useful for some people to mitigate panic or anxiety and normalize breathing patterns.

Google Fit on smartphones can also be used to track your sleep, letting you know how well you slept each night as well highlighting any routines you have.

Finally, Google sometimes uses the Google Fit phone app to spread health advice for example, during the Covid-19 pandemic it prompted users to check out the World Health Organization's advice on staying healthy.

Here, we've listed every single activity you can track on Google Fit at time of writing, including what metrics it tracks. Technically this is part of Fit Workout, a separate app to Google Fit on Wear OS watches, but it's all part of the same family of applications.

There are almost 100 different sports modes, although many are very, very similar. We've arranged them into categories so it's easier to find the part you're interested in.

If you like walking or hiking related fitness there's a standard Walking mode, Fitness Walking, Hiking, Nordic Walking, Stair Climbing, Stair Climbing Machine and Treadmill Walking.

Speeding things up for runners, there's also a standard Running mode, Circuit Training, Elliptical, High intensity interval training, Interval Training, Jogging, Sand Running and Treadmill Running.

If you want to really track your fitness, then the normal Biking mode will help along with Handcycle, Road Biking, Spinning, Stationary Biking and Utility Biking.

For people who play ball or team sports there are American Football, Australian Football, Baseball, Basketball, Beach Volleyball, Cricket, Curling, Football, Golf, Handball, Hockey, Indoor Volleyball, Rugby, Soccer and Volleyball.

Racquet sports are also well covered here, like Badminton, Racquetball, Squash, Table Tennis and Tennis

There's snow excuse not to track workouts if you like your winter sports with a standard Skiing mode along with Backcountry Skiing, Cross Skating, Cross-Country Skiing, Downhill Skiing, Ice Skating, Indoor Skating, Inline Skating, Kite Skiing, Roller Skiing, Sledding, Snowboarding and Snowshoeing.

You can take to water as well as land with Ergometer, Kayaking, Kitesurfing, Rowing, Rowing Machine, Sailing, Stand-up Paddle Boarding, Wakeboarding and Wind Surfing.

If you like to fight to stay fit then Boxing, Fencing, Kickboxing, Martial Arts and MMA.

A few combination sports or exercise regimens have tracking modes like Biathlon, Calisthenics, CrossFit and P90x.

Weights training modes are covered including Strength Training, Kettlebell, and Weight Training.

There are also some of the more extreme sports that don't fall into these other categories like Paragliding and Rock Climbing

Finally, there are some health, equestrian, dancing and lifestyle-centric modes like Aerobics, Dancing, Flossing, Frisbee, Gardening, Gymnastics, Horseback Riding, Jumping Rope, Kick Scooter, Pilates, Polo, Skateboarding, Skating, Stroller Walking, Wheelchair, Yoga, Zumba, and then an 'Other' mode too.

Most of these modes track heart rate and time, and others chart some combination of distance, steps, location, calories burnt and pace. For the majority we've tested, the data is rather barebones and reps, points in games and more will have to be remembered by you instead.
