Rio and Kate Ferdinand study "fitness Instagram" accounts in bed.
The former footballer and his wife - who wed in September - like to find new ways to stay in shape so when they get some time together, they turn to social media for suggestions and ideas.
Kate said: "Me and Rio sit in bed and look at people's fitness Instagram accounts.
"We'll be like, 'Ooh we like that, let's try that.'"
Kate loves the fact she and her husband can also enjoy their mutual passion for fitness in their own gym.
She said: "It used to be, 'I'm going on holiday so I need to train every day' but it's a lifestyle now.
"I train to look good, feel good, and be happy.
"I love working out and it's something that me and Rio have in common.
"We're really lucky as we get to work out at home."
The former 'Only Way is Essex' star's own Instagram account has been a source of fitness inspiration for many people and, because she wants to be a "good role model", she wants to be "honest" with people about how she looks after herself so promised to be frank in her new book 'Fitter, Happier, Healthier'.
She told heat magazine: "I do want to be a good role model, which is why I speak about myself a lot in the book
"I don't want people to have an unrealistic view of how I work out and what I eat.
"It was important to be honest about who I am, so they can feel more comfortable with who they are."
Kate has a lot of "little" goals she wants to achieve over the coming months.
She said: "I have lots of goals, not just necessarily with fitness.
"I have actually written them down on my phone - I want to stay fit, healthy and feeling good.
"I want to be positive and not let negative people control my thinking. I want to go watch [my step-children] play football more.
"They are just little things really."

The cheap fitness band market is a tough space in 2020, with strong competition from Xiaomi and others, but a new entry is coming soon from Realme.
Chinese phone manufacturer Realme has previously confirmed it's working on a fitness tracker and we now know that it's coming in February this year.
An exact release date for the Realme fitness band is currently unclear, but the company's India CEO Madhav Shethat confirmed that it will be launching sometime in February.
Shethat has previously teased the device on stage by wearing it in front of a crowd, but the company has yet to reveal the specs or price of the device.
We know from this tease that it will be available in a yellow color, but it's currently unclear if other shades will also be available. It also looks to have a silicone band, which may be the only strap option available for the fitness tracker.
A press render shared recently on Weibo - a Chinese social networking site - has given us the best look yet at the Realme fitness tracker, again showing it in yellow, but it sounds like we shouldn't have long to wait until we get an even closer, official look at the device.
Realme may take to Mobile World Congress at the end of February to announce its new fitness tracker. The company also has a variety of other products in the pipeline, including headphones and power banks, so we may hear about them in February too.

Ask the Expert: What are some fitness routines to help seniors maintain good health? – The Daily Progress
![](https://www.dgw.tv/wp-content/themes/elegant-brit-b/images/caticon.gif)
![](https://www.dgw.tv/wp-content/themes/elegant-brit-b/images/comicon.gif)
What are some good exercises or fitness routines for seniors to maintain good health?
At any age, movement and exercise are essential, and as we age, this need becomes more dramatic. We need to maintain cardiovascular strength (for endurance to get out and about), muscle power (to get up and down from a chair, lift our grandkids and do projects around the house) and balance (to prevent falls). These add up to having the vitality to do things we want in life with a minimum loss of our independence. But how can we do this?
Good routines for cardiovascular exercise include 30 minutes per day of walking, swimming or social sports like tennis or pickleball. Balance exercises can include tai chi, yoga, and group balance classes. Strength training may be done in a gym with weight machines or at home with light hand weights and functional movements like sitting and standing from a chair, using your own body weight for resistance.
Research shows that substantial health benefits are achieved with 150 to 300 minutes per week of moderate-intensity exercise, or 75 minutes per week of vigorous exercise. The important thing is to get moving and dont stop. Working with a physical therapist or a certified athletic trainer can help you do this safely in a way to meet your goals. Get moving and enjoy.

NORTH PLATTE, Neb It was awards night for the Platte River Fitness Series in North Platte.
Dozens of runners and their families attended a banquet at Harbor Lights where they were treated to a pasta dinner and an awards ceremony.
As the awards were announced the participants made their way to the front to claim them.
One of the winners was Jamey Swanson.
After suffering an injury which melted the bottoms of his feet and later developing a disease which will eventually cause his feet to be amputated, Swanson decided to live his life to the fullest.
"The disease, there's no cure for it. It doesn't get better it just progressively gets worse and worse," said Swanson. "I didn't want to live life being supported under some kind of device. I wanted to get out and live my life while everything is still there. I've made peace with the fact that it may get worse. I just want to enjoy life."
As a result of Swanson's new lifestyle, he has signed up for a half iron man in August.

The best workout shoes for every type of exercise, according to fitness trainers – CNET
![](https://www.dgw.tv/wp-content/themes/elegant-brit-b/images/caticon.gif)
![](https://www.dgw.tv/wp-content/themes/elegant-brit-b/images/comicon.gif)
Trainers share their tried and true picks for the best workout shoes.
Whenever you start a new workout program, one of the first things you should do is decide what shoes to wear. The right type of shoes can be crucial to your workout, even if you just plan to lift weights at a gym or use the stair climber. It's even more important if you want to runor do CrossFit, where you need a shoe that supports your feet and joints.
If you're new to working out, chances are you're a bit lost about which shoes will be the best to support you in your new workout. And you don't want just any pair of shoes, especially if you're going to be investing a lot of time (and potentially money) into your new workout routine.
Shoes can ultimately be a personal preference, but if you're looking for some suggestions, the best people to ask (in my humble opinion) are fitness trainers. Why? Trainers pretty much spend 24/7 in sneakers and likely have tried them all. They know which ones to skip, which ones to invest in, and oftentimes can save you from a headache when you've just bought 4 different pairs of sneakers but hate all of them.
So let these fitness trainers save you some precious time (and hopefully money) by checking out their recommendations for the best shoes for every kind of workout. No matter if you're running, boxing, or dancing and beyond -- this guide has you covered.
"For trails, I prefer Salomon XA Pro 3D GTX. These are Gore-tex to keep your feet dry and have firm soles for added stability on the trails. The toe box is also reinforced to keep you from stubbing your toe. As these shoes are sturdier, they are good for indoor cycling and some indoor exercise classes. With a firm sole, some activities (such as calf raises) might be difficult in these shoes."
--Mollie Millington, runner and certified personal trainer.
"I love the Asics Kayano as they provide additional ankle stability for people with muscle imbalances, which we all have. Once the ankle and knees are supported correctly, the proper shoe can relieve pain in the knees and ankles and help correct over-pronation which is when your foot rolls inward, causing shin splints and can cause knee pain and swelling.
"A good stability shoe will help minimize the rolling inward and help the heel-to-toe transition slowly, correcting your running form over time.
"I personally love how light this model has become over the years. The shoe has transformed into a fashionable and light shoe while helping correct the form of our feet while we run while improving the pressure on our joints while we run with added cushioning. Every client I put in these shoes loves them, as they can be worn while strength training or running."
--Holly Roser, certified personal trainer.
"There are two main things you look for in a CrossFit shoe: durability and versatility. A good CrossFit shoe takes you from squats to rope climbs to burpee box jumps all in one workout. A good pair of CrossFit shoes feels just as comfortable during an 800-meter run as it does during a couplet of deadlifts and push-ups -- and NoBull surpasses standards for all of the above.
"NoBull shoes have a reputation for being heavy-duty yet comfortable, supportive yet flexible. Plus, they're sleek and simple, and you can choose from high-top, mid-rise and regular to find your perfect fit,"
-- Amanda Capritto, CrossFit Coach, certified personal trainer and CNET writer.
"My fave sneaker model is the Asics Gel Nimbus. They were the first pair of shoes I bought when I started training with DanceBody in 2016, and I'm seriously committed to them. I've tried a bunch of different sneaker brands and models, but I always come back to the Gel Nimbus.
"They have amazing shock absorption for high-impact movements, but are light enough that they don't feel like clunky moon shoes; the perfect balance for dance cardio."
--Sam Ostwald, trainer and instructor at DanceBody
"For boxing workouts, these are super-comfortable and feel like you're walking on clouds! I also like that they can be slip-on and not tied with laces. I do a lot of strength training and high-impact moves and have loved these shoes for the past four years. I still wear them whenever I do boxing workouts, drills and high-impact training,"
-- Amanda Alappat, former pro boxer and personal trainer.

Midlife Fitness Files: The Telegraph's new health series, in which we get keep fit advice from the experts as they talk us through their weekly workouts and daily diet
Davina McCall is 52 and lives in Kent with her three children. She is currently a panellist on ITVs The Masked Singer and her next TV project will be the new series of ITVs Long Lost Family.
My weight has yo-yoed most of my life. In my early thirties, I would workout loads in the new year, then get totally unfit and start again the following year. But when I had Tily at 36 I couldnt bounce back and knew I had to get serious about fitness. Thats when I met my trainers Jackie and Mark [Wren]. Theyre responsible for a huge turnaround in my life, mentally and physically. Ive learned the yo-yo fitness thing isnt good for me but nor is being overly fit. Now, Im seeking a base level of fitness. My legs get flabby quickly and on telly I like waving my arms around in short sleeves without worrying about a bingo wing flinging around, so I want to be toned all year around.
Health is now my biggest motivator. I lost my sister Caroline to cancer when she was only 52 and my mum also to cancer. Exercise is one thing you can do to prevent all kinds of illness, so keeping fit feels like a gift to myself; an act of self-love.
Im training for a 10km run on February 9th so I do two short runs of about 20-30 minutes and one long run which is about 7-8 miles (about an hour) each week. Ill combine the short runs with a half hour intermediate home workout from ownyourgoalsdavina.com.Ive just discovered Reformer Pilates which as a game-changer, so once a week Ill run for 20 minutes to my local Pilates class, do that for an hour and then run home. On Saturday, Ill do the same thing but with a Spin class, then come home and do a ten minute abs session. About three hours a week of exercise is my ideal but if I am busy I will try do six half hours or a little less. I have a job! Its all I can manage.

The TREAT diet might be the best way to lose weight and keep it off, expert reveals – The Sun

IF you've already given up on your resolution to lose weight this New Year, then you're not alone.
Research suggests that by January 19, most of us will have ditched our diets - and it's easy to see why.
1
Many of us start the year by going full steam ahead - whether thats going to the gym seven days a week or cutting out carbs completely.
But we fall off the wagon once we realise that our new lifestyle isnt sustainable.
Yet an expert claims to have come up with a way of to lose weight for good - a "treat diet".
Dietitian Terri Ann Nunns says the answer to sustainable weight loss is allowing yourself a small treat every day.
She says: It might seem counterproductive, but a treat a day really is the way to lose weight and more importantly, keep it off.
It might seem counterproductive, but a treat a day really is the way to lose weight and more importantly, keep it off
"Deprivation and restriction might help you to lose weight quickly, but before too long your cravings will get too much and you could end up bingeing on all the food you deprived yourself.
Allowing yourself a small daily treat helps you to stay in control of your cravings and makes your diet sustainable in the long term.
"Lets be honest no one wants to swear off chocolate for the rest of their life, so its about finding ways to include your favourite treats in your diet in a way that doesnt become detrimental to your overall health.
Here, she shares her top tips on how you can try out the TerriAnn Treat Plan yourself...
A treat a day doesnt mean eating a tub of ice cream every evening - its about eating a little of something you fancy to satisfy that sweet tooth or savoury craving.
Often, a small treat is enough to satisfy those cravings, without consuming a large number of calories.
For the best results, include a single treat of under 150 calories a day into your diet.
Sweet treats for less than 150 calories
1 Cadbury Chocolate Mousse -105 kcal
20g dark chocolate -100 kcal
5 jelly babies -100 kcal
35g dates - 100 kcal
2 ginger biscuits - 100 kcal
20g sweet popcorn -100 kcal
3 x Mcvities Thins Milk Chocolate biscuits -93 kcal
1 bag of quavers -88 kcal
1 low calorie hot chocolate - 50 kcal
10 strawberries -50 kcal
1 square of dark chocolate - 50 kcal
1 shortcake or ginger nut biscuit - 50 kcal
100g pineapple -50 kcal
Staying on track can be difficult, so make it easier for yourself by planning all your meals in advance - including snacks and treats.
Knowing what youre going to eat every day in advance will not only make it less likely that youll reach for convenience foods, which are usually higher in calories and less likely to keep you full, but having a treat on the horizon will also help to keep you on track when you feel tempted.
Increase your chances of sticking to your plan by prepping food on a Sunday in advance of the week ahead and buying treats in bulk.
Lower calorie options can be harder to find so stock up to ensure you dont reach for higher calorie foods when cravings hit.
In theory a cheat day an entire day off your diet where youre allowed to eat what you like is fine, but in practice it can lead to overeating and bingeing on all the foods you deprived yourself of during the week.
This is because an entire treat day once a week can lead to an all or nothing mentality youve been good all week and you feel like you need to make up for it.
However, this can be detrimental if youre trying to lose weight, and you could easily undo all the good work of the previous week if you consume too many calories.
Instead, incorporate more regular treats into your diet but on a smaller scale, to avoid this binge eating cycle and to ensure you keep within a calorie deficit.
Be honest how many times have you bought yourself a bar of chocolate or a bag of crisps and finished the pack before youve had chance to really enjoy it?
Were all guilty of eating on the go, while watching TV or on our phones, but when enjoying a treat, its important to take the time to truly savour it.

If You Want to Lose Weight, Follow This Dietitian’s Simple and Satisfying Smoothie Hack – POPSUGAR

You can squeeze so much nutrition into a smoothie. You can include fresh fruit, seeds, and veggies, and if you throw in a little protein powder, smoothies make a satiating meal that's quick and delicious. But if you sip down your morning smoothie and it typically leaves your stomach growling an hour or two later, try this dietitian's hack add oats to your blender!
Registered dietitian nutritionist and NASM-certified personal trainer Whitney English Tabaie, MS, recommends her clients eat more whole grains like oats because "studies have shown that diets rich in whole grains help support weight loss and reduce inflammation," she told POPSUGAR. "They provide a hefty dose of plant protein and fiber, which aids in satiety and helps balance blood sugar levels so you stay fuller longer."
Rolled oats are a great source of slow-digesting carbs, fiber, and protein, all of which aid in that satiated-for-hours feeling. After grinding up a quarter-cup to half-cup of rolled oats in the blender, add the rest of your smoothie ingredients and blend until well combined. The result is a thicker, more fiber-filled smoothie that's sure to keep you feeling full well until lunch time.
If you want to prepare your smoothie the night before to save time and you prefer a more silky-smooth texture, try this banana oat smoothie recipe that involves soaking the oats overnight. It offers 10 grams of satiating fiber and over 14 grams of protein, and it tastes thick and delicious like a milkshake!
