World Class acquires Planet Swim&Gym, opens 38th health and fitness club in the network – Business Review

World Class Romania is continuously expanding its health & fitness network, taking important steps, with each new club opening, towards its core mission: to inspire, educate and motivate more Romanians to be more active more often. By making its premium health & fitness services accessible to more people, World Class aims to become peoples third most important place to be in, after home and work.

On November 28, World Class will open its 38th club in Romania and 29th in Bucharest, following the acquisition of Planet Swim & Gym club. The #BeHealthy Movement for More Movement initiated by World Class in 2018 has been growing stronger with each new member, each new participant to the World Class public health and fitness event and each new club opening in strategic locations, with large residential and corporate communities.

The acquisition of Planet Swim&Gym is a strategic step that takes us further into our mission. It has a very good location and the members will benefit from the support of a strong team of health and fitness experts. The club offers indoor and outdoor pools with a great relaxation area, making it ideal for families and also for after work wellness. We are strengthening our network and give more to our members by adding all the health & fitness services of Planet Swim&Gym. The club did a very good work building a health & fitness community, being highly successful in its swimming offer for kids and attracting families to be active together. This club is an excellent match to our network and it will be our 38th health & fitness club. The new acquisition brings our services even closer to the homes and workplaces of more Romanians. In the near future we have new plans for extending our networks in strategic locations., says Kent Orrgren, CEO World Class.

Starting November 28, the club reopens as World Class Planet to offer members a premium facility with premium training conditions, innovative health & fitness equipment and a highly experienced team of health & fitness professionals. It will be a Gold Category club.

The former Planet Swim & Gym club had a history of 15 years and all its members will be automatically become World Class members with access to all World Class clubs throughout Romania, up to the Gold category.

Planet Swim & Gym is a club with a long history in Romania of over 15 years and a strong health & fitness community. I am glad that following this acquisition, the clubs existing members will have access to even more benefits, more health & fitness clubs and an extended network of health & fitness specialists. I am confident that what we have built so far with Planet Swim & Gym will continue to grow and the result will be even more happy members who will choose a healthy lifestyle, said Alexander Fagiolo, owner Planet Swim & Gym.

The three-level club will provide two aerobic studios for group fitness classes, indoor cycling, private studio for 1-to-1 training sessions, interior semi-olympic pool and also an exterior swimming pool and a summer garden with lounge area. Members will also benefit from the services of a beauty salon.

The location of the new World Class club is strategic, targeting an area with a high density of residential as well as corporate public. Located in Voluntari-Pipera, 1 Emil Racovi Street, Voluntari, the club is another step into the World Class mission to make health and fitness services more accessible to more Romanians in order to help them be more active more often and enjoy better lives.

The club is highly accessible and the members will be able to park their cars in the private parking place with 200 spaces. It will function Monday to Friday, 06.30-22.30 and Saturday, Sunday 08.00-20.00.

Fitness column: Put stretching in its proper place to tackle workout priorities – Edmonton Journal

Paul Robinson notes that stretching should not take priority over more important workout activities.Getty Images

Despite popular cultures obsession with flexibility, stretching may in fact be hindering your progress in the gym.

To be clear, this has less to do with physiology and more to do with priority.

When starting out, I often ask new clients to complete a simple exercise to determine priorities. Pretty simple, really: itemize your top three goals and assign a percentage to each one. To be successful, exercisers should pay particular attention to the goal that occupies the biggest piece of the pie. Nine times out of 10, flexibility gets bumped by fat loss, shaping and strength.

Its not that I dislike stretching. I do it myself. The problem is, many exercisers default to stretching whenever the going gets tough. On the I dont want to do this scale, stretching anchors one end (willing to do) while hard work stoically sits at the other (no thanks). The appeal of prone comfort beats chin-ups every time.

Stretching has morphed into a sacred cow. Question it in public forums at your own risk. Believe me, I know. When Ive raised this topic at speaking engagements its been met with horrified gasps and hushed whispers heretic!

I get it, flexibility is important. However, while obesity, coronary heart disease, diabetes and sarcopenia (muscle wasting) can end your life, touching your toes, relatively speaking, falls under the nice to have category.

Again, dont get me wrong, many of our clients stretch. However, if I only see you a few times a week you can bet were going to focus on your top priorities, and stretching doesnt help you drop pounds, tighten muscle or build strength.

So, when designing your priority profile keep these stretching guidelines in mind to help you stay the course.

1) Warming up and stretching arent the same thing. Never stretch a cold muscle, as it can result in injury and hinder progress.

2) Stretching should complement your workout, not overtake it (unless, of course, your goal is flexibility). Assign the appropriate time frame as per your priority profile.

3) Proper weight training challenges muscle through a full range of motion. For exercisers with a plethora of health problems, this adequately addresses flexibility at least initially.

4) Proper stretching is as complicated as proper weight training often more so. If you cant remember how to perform eight weight training exercises, good luck remembering a series of stretches. While they have their limitations, resistance machines (the ones with seats and pins) keep things relatively simple.

5) Poor posture and imbalance require you to stretch tight, offending muscles and strengthen their weak counterparts. For example, proper stretches open an inflexible chest while mid-back exercises strengthen a weak back. Release one side and tighten the other.

6) I repeat, stretching doesnt strengthen muscle or drop pounds but it does offer comfort to beginners and gym-phobics. If youre hiding in the stretching area or attending the beginner yoga class because the weight room is a dark, foreboding place I get it.

7) Early morning exercisers, seniors, rehab patients and more advanced exercisers may require longer warmups and more advanced stretching than the average rank and file who are simply looking to grab a quick workout.

8) Stretching can offer solitude and reflection. Dont undervalue the importance of quiet, mindful contemplation.

When designing your exercise program make sure youre spending the most time and energy on priorities. Value stretching for what it is. In the end, what demands attention gets results.

Rachael Riley, The Fayetteville Observer Published 11:01 a.m. ET Nov. 25, 2019 | Updated 1:16 p.m. ET Nov. 25, 2019

Owens said that when he received his diagnosis, doctors recommended that he medically retire.

For my quality of life, and my mental preservation, I was like, I can either take what they say and take a medical retirement or I can fight for my livelihood, Owens said. So I ended up getting on a track. I ran a mile in 14 minutes the first time after Id been diagnosed, and I was like, Hmm, Im going to have some work to do.

Owens put in the work.

On Nov. 6, he received an unofficial max score for the tests six events.

'Today': Hoda Kotb reveals to co-anchors she's engaged to Joel Schiffman

Lt. Col. Jose Durbin, director of human performance and endurance for the 82nd Airborne Division, said scoring on the Army Combat Fitness Test is based on a soldiers military occupation.

A cook, for example, would need to meet the gold, or lower level scores, and an infantry soldier would need to meet the black, or higher level scores.

The green level is the maximum level.

Maj. Owens exceeded these levels on all events, which is a pretty significant thing, Durbin said.

The range of scores are: 140 to 340 for the maximum deadlift; 4.5 to 12.5 for the standing power throw; 10 to 60 for the hand release push-ups; 3 minutes to 1 minute, 33 seconds for the sprint, drag, carry; 1 to 20 for the leg tuck; and 21 minutes to 12 minutes, 30 seconds on the 2-mile run.

Owens scores were: 340 for the deadlift; 12.4 for the standing power throw; 1 minute, 22 seconds for the sprint, drag, carry; 20 for the leg tuck; and 12 minutes, 40 seconds for the 2-mile run.

Durbin said the only reason Owens score is unofficial is because the Army gives a time limit of 90 minutes to complete all the events.

He said Owens went over that time limit because there were more soldiers per lane or event taking the test that day.

But Maj. Owens is such a phenomenal soldier and athlete that he would have maxed it anyways, Durbin said.

Thousands feared drowned: More than 14,000 sheep fall into Black Sea after ship capsizes

Owens, who hopes to one day own his own gym geared toward kids, said he wants to encourage and help other soldiers prepare for the test.

As we start going down this road for the ACFT, you need someone to be that person to make you uncomfortable, allow you to be comfortable being uncomfortable, he said.

I think being successful ... in this ACFT gives me a little bit more time in order to provide for my family, reach my goals, small goals or objectives while Im in the military and continue to be an asset to my organization, he said.

The 1 ‘big’ diet mistake many people make on Thanksgiving – msnNOW

On Thanksgiving, people may forgo breakfast or lunch to save room for a feast in the evening. But this is not the best strategy to avoid packing on the pounds this holiday season, according to one nutritionist.

"It's a big mistake to fast before a big meal at a party, or at Thanksgiving dinner," said Katherine Tallmadge, a registered dietitian and op-ed contributor to LiveScience.

When people skip meals, they end up feeling so hungry by dinnertime that they overeat, Tallmadge said.

"You're ravenous, and you just eat like crazy. You're completely irrational," she said.

UP NEXT

To avoid this scenario, Tallmadge recommends eating a regular breakfast and lunch on Thanksgiving, at the same time you normally would eat these meals. This Thanksgiving, Tallmadge said she will eat her regular breakfast of oatmeal with fruit and nuts.

It's true that at Thanksgiving dinner, most people will eat more than they would on a normal day, Tallmadge said. But by eating a regular breakfast and lunch, you'll likely eat fewer calories overall than you would if you skipped the meals, she said.

Another tip to avoid eating too much on Thanksgiving is to pick your three favorite, high-calorie foods at the dinner table, and indulge in only those, along with vegetable side dishes, Tallmadge said.

Variety can also make it easy to overeat. For instance, if there are three pies for dessert, you might be tempted to take a slice of each, but you should stick with one, Tallmadge said.

And while it's OK to indulge a bit on Thanksgiving, you shouldn't continue this pattern of eating regularly, Tallmadge said.

Even though you'll likely have leftovers, be careful not to eat overly large meals for another week, she said.

"Splurge on Thanksgiving Day, but get back to normal, healthy eating immediately," Tallmadge said.

‘The Bachelor’: Cassie Randolph Reveals Her Skincare, Diet, and Workout Routine – Showbiz Cheat Sheet

Ever since Cassie Randolph won Colton Underwoods season of The Bachelor, fans have been enamored of her beauty secrets.

As many Bachelor stars go on to do, Randolph now makes a habit of linking her outfits in Instagram photos and sharing skin tips (mostly via advertisements) in her stories. But shes never really been explicit about her entire beauty/health routine.

In a recent Instagram Q&A the reality star did on her stories, she shared some of her tips and tricks.

What skincare products do you use? How is your skin so clear! asked one fan.

Hate myself, because Ive been meaning to do a skincare video for so long now like Ive promised a million times. Its hard because its always changing as I try new products, she responded.

But Randolph shared a few staples that dont ever change: RetinA @ night, sunscreen everyday, vitamin C serum, AHA or BHA, moisturizer.

Another fan asked Randolph if she has permanent makeup on your lips because theyre always so red.

Ive always had really red lips, she responded, including a baby photo of herself with a strikingly red pout. But I know a couple people who have done the permanent lip liner & love it!

Randolph speaks a lot about how its important to her to maintain a healthy lifestyle. She admitted in her recent Q&A that her diets been inconsistent lately since shes been traveling so much, but that she tries to eat as clean as possible.

Do you stick to a certain diet/workout routine? asked another fan.

gonna be honest, with everything going on and all the traveling this past year, Ive been super inconsistent with diet/exercise. I try to eat as clean as possible and listen to my body, Randolph responded. I actually have a lot of stomach issues (very sensitive). So I have always had to eat a lot of smaller meals/snack throughout the day instead of a lot at once.

As for working out, Randolph tries to be as active as possible.

A workout is worth it even if you only have 15 minutes! My fave is hot yoga, barre, and I love long walks! she shared. I find that I always am in a better mood on the days I make time to exercise.

Between school, friends, Underwood, her family, and work obligations, Randolph strives to create a healthy balance in her life.

Has it been tough balancing school and life in general? asked another Instagram user.

Yes! I feel like this past year has thrown a bunch of things my way that Ive really had to work at learning to balance. Schoolwork definitely makes it challenging. I pretty much bring it with me everywhere I go and use most of my free time to work on it! she responded.

But Randolph has learned its all about sticking to a schedule.

Id say that the key thing in relieving my stress is making a schedule for myself and sticking to it so that I allow time for all areas of my life, she wrote.
