How losing weight helped Eastwood mum fight depression and family trauma – Eastwood Advertiser

A mum from Eastwood has told how slimming regimes have helped her make three miraculous recoveries from depression and family trauma, as well as lose weight.

Julie Noble celebrated her 51st birthday last weekend with a family holiday after reaching her target weight of 10st 10lb.

But the joy of a trip to the Tattershall Lakes Country Park resort in Lincolnshire was in stark contrast to the dark days of 1999, 2012 and 2016.

Twenty years ago, Julie hit the scales at 18st 10lb and wore size-34 clothes after a negative battle with weight-control.

She recalled: I didnt feel comfortable in myself at all. I thought I was being stared at all the time, and life was just so unpleasant.

With the help of Weight Watchers, Julie lost eight stone in preparation for an operation on her varicose veins.

But then she piled on the pounds again, and by 2012, she had joined Slimming World after ballooning to nearly 16st. She said: I felt so uncomfortable and I was suffering from depression.

Within 12 months, she had shed 5st before her rollercoaster weight-ride yielded a third lapse three years ago. This time, it was caused by the shock and anguish of her eldest son, Ashley, being diagnosed with bone cancer.

Ashley, now 26, was in the operating theatre for more than 16 hours as he had his pelvis removed. The bottom of his spine was also badly affected, and his recovery is still not complete.

With all the worry, I put on two-and-a-half stone, said mother-of-four Julie, who is a supervisor at Peacocks store in Eastwood. But with the help of Slimming Worlds amazing plan, I have lost it.

Its all been very emotional. But weve got our lives back on track now, and I can enjoy everything again.

JULIES story is now set to inspire other would-be slimmers because she launches her own Slimming World class as a consultant at Plumptre Hall in Eastwood every Friday from 9 am.

Full of praise for her is her mentor, Jeanette Chawner, who says: Slimming World has changed Julies life. Her world collapsed when her son was diagnosed with cancer and she was at his bedside for days. But her eating and health issues are no longer a problem, and she is feeling confident enough to invest in herself and her own business.

Weight loss: I was so fat I had to quit my job after years of gorging on takeaways – The Sun

TIPPING the scales at a staggering 17 stone, Louise Nicola Hickson was no longer able to work.

Her weight had spiralled so out of control that her energy levels had plummeted to an all-time low and she could barely walk without being in pain.

19

Determined not to end up like her father who has type 2 diabetes, Louise, 28, decided to take drastic action to shed the pounds.

She overhauled her diet after after having vertical sleeve gastrectomy surgery and has since shed an impressive eight stone.

Louise, from Luton, is now more confident than ever and no longer suffers from depression.

She said: "Ive been like 90 per cent happier than I ever was before."

19

19

Louise had piled on the pounds after years of gorging on Chinese and chicken takeaways.

She suffered with PCOS, depression and anxiety and used food to comfort her - munching on bacon sandwiches with crisps for lunch and carb heavy super-sized portions for dinner.

And the weight began taking a huge toll on her life - and she could barely keep up with her family when they went out shopping.

Louise was alsoregularly getting sick with infections which she believes was due to the extra pounds she carried with her.

19

19

She said: "Im a bubbly type of person and always try to make people laugh. Actually, I used to use my humour to disguise my weight sometimes.

"Things that lead to my weight gain are a mix of PCOS, depression, anxiety and binge drinking.

"I honestly tried not to think about it too much and I was always in denial about my appearance.

"In time things I couldnt ignore started mounting up.

"I felt rubbish all the time, my periods were erratic and painful.

"I stayed in for days not doing anything until the weekend then Id binge drink and eat my weight in calories.

"I could barely walk five minutes before my legs and feet were on fire and I couldnt keep up with my family."

19

19

19

Louise was reminded of her weight occasionally by her father Richard, who warned her that she didnt want to end up with diabetes like him.

And while he urged her to shift the weight, it continue to pile on - to the point she was forced to quit her job.

Louise said: My dad used to say that he hoped I never got to where he was because he has diabetes.

"It got to the point I left my job as I didnt have energy to do it and then my depression got worse."

It got to the point I left my job as I didnt have energy to do it and then my depression got worse

Louise's wake-up call came when she stepped on the scales and was mortified when she saw she weighed a hefty 17st and was also wearing a UK dress size 22.

"I felt embarrassed and a little shocked when I got onto the scales on December 2016 and with my mental health suffering, I knew now was the time for me to make some serious changes about my health," she said.

In February 2018 Louise decided to have vertical sleeve gastrectomy surgery (VSG) and afterwards she knew she had to change her relationship with food and alcohol.

19

19

She said: "I decided to have VSG surgery on November 2017 and had the operation February 2018. "After that I had to learn to have a much healthier relationship with food.

"Now breakfast is usually a healthy fry up in my air fryer.

"Lunch can be either a chicken or salmon salad or a protein shake.

"Dinners are low carb alternatives of everyday meals like curry, Bolognese, roasts.

"I try to snack on low calorie alternatives and fruit where I can but never restrict myself from enjoying some chocolate too. As long as its balanced.

"With consistency I have managed to lose eight stone in about a year and half and I no longer wear a 22 dress but a size 8."

19

19

Louise's diet before and after

BEFORE

Breakfast: No breakfast

Lunch: Bacon sandwiches with crisps

Dinner: Chinese or chicken takeaways with high calorie cider

AFTER

Breakfast: Bacon, eggs, vegetables and high protein toast

Lunch: Salmon or chicken salad

Dinner: High protein low carb curries, bolognese and roasts

Snacks: Low calorie fruit or a little chocolate from time to time

Since her weight loss, Louise is more confident than ever and says that her journey has enabled her to make lots of new friends.

And she has recently got a new job in a warehouse.

"Some people tell you not to lose any more weight on this journey, which can be super annoying especially when I wasnt planning to lose anymore," Louise said.

"Ive made so many new friends and have so much support.

19

19

19

"Ive even managed to repair some old broken friendships because Im in a much better place now.

"Im on my feet a lot now especially with housework and carrying food shopping home.

"Also, my new job means Im stood up all day and often running around the warehouse which I actually like.

"In my spare time Im enjoying spending time at the gym doing cardio and strength training.

"Its actually become a hobby of mine and its been so good for my mental health too."

Obese womans 35st weight loss transformation success saved her life – Daily Star

A morbidly obese woman has shared her 35st weight loss journey after doctors were forced to cut off her tongue because she was too large for surgery.

Jen Costa put on 25st over 14 years by gorging on takeaways every day after she suffered a horrific car crash.

The 35-year-old was so large that she was unable to stand up in the shower and had to have her partner wash her with a sponge as she sat on a chair.

Then one day when she went to complete a takeaway order on the phone, she noticed a pain in her mouth which was a tiny white lump on her tongue.

Jen, then 46st and wore size 9XL, was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer of the tongue but was told she was too fat for surgery and radiation.

Refusing to let her health take over, Jen visited a dozen hospitals across New York, US, before a doctor agreed to help.

Following a 19 hour operation to remove most of her tongue, Jen was unable to eat solid food which forced her on a liquid diet.

She said: I was handed a death sentence and it's ended up saving my life.

"What started as the darkest period of my life soon revealed itself as my biggest blessing in disguise. I used to be addicted to food. I abused the privilege to eat.

"After the car accident I was completely bed-bound and ordered a takeaway every single day. Now I have no choice. I can't eat anything but it's a blessing. I've lost 35st.

"God allowed me to battle cancer and to make me appreciate all that I took for granted in my life. Beforehand I was obese, sad, miserable, depressed and angry.

"But the cancer has made me strong and humble. I have no taste in my mouth it's just a lump in my mouth which is just there.

"I miss pizza, I miss ordering a Chinese and I miss the taste of my Grandma's chicken. But despite that I'm just so much happier."

Despite always being a bit chubby, Jen was still an active person during her teenage years.

But everything changed for her when she was hit by a car on a public highway which saw her left knee snap and ligaments tear in half.

She lost movement in her lower half for a year and then struggled with putting weight on her leg, placing her into depression and making her turn to food for comfort.

For the past two and a half years, Jen has been on a liquid shakes diet which has seen her weight drop from 46st to an impressive 12st.

She continued: I just know if I wasn't told I had cancer, I wouldn't be here today. I would have just continued sitting there eating my life away.

"I've lost the ability to taste and chew things properly. But I took advantage of that when I had it. Because I'm not eating as much, I have so much excess skin.

"I've had a few skin removal surgeries which has helped me lose the weight. The diagnosis just turned my life completely around.

"I had to die a little in order to learn to appreciate how it felt to be truly alive. I'm alive for the very first time in my life."

Rob Kardashian Reveals the 1 Person Who Motivated Him to Lose Weight – Showbiz Cheat Sheet

Rob Kardashians weight has fluctuated quite a bit since his family rose to fame on their popular reality television show. Kardashian used to star alongside his siblings on Keeping Up With the Kardashians, but he only appeared on the show during its first few years. Kardashian dealt with major weight gain, and he disappeared from the show and became somewhat of a recluse. But now, recent photos show that he has lost a significant amount of weight and there is one person he credits.

When KUWTK first premiered, Kardashians life was a focal point of the show because he was the only son. He was hardly old enough to drink when the familys life became one giant documentary in the form of a 30-minute reality television show on E!. As the only son, he instantly became a heartthrob, and alongside Kourtney Kardashians then-boyfriend Scott Disick, he brought plenty of comedic relief. People loved Watching Kardashian and Disicks brotherly relationship unfold; the men are still close today, even though Kardashian doesnt appear on the show.

Kardashian only appeared on the familys show up until season 7; then, his screen time dwindled. He found himself in a tough spot and started to gain a lot of weight. He wasnt seeing the same success his sisters were, though he did manage to launch a sock line with the help of his mother, Kris Jenner. But the weight took a toll on him, and he retreated from the spotlight entirely. Though he still remained close with his family, tensions grew when he began dating Blac Chyna, the ex of Kylie Jenners then-boyfriend, Tyga. However, his family always had his back, despite that he wasnt interested in being on the show.

Khlo Kardashians show Revenge Body helps people become the best version of themselves after going through a difficult time. Khlos divorce from Lamar Odom gave her a different outlook on life, and she started working hard to be in the best shape she could be in. Now, Kardashian has done the same, thanks to his sister. A source told E! News that Khlo helped her brother realize he needed to hit the gym, and she served as his main motivation. Kardashian recently posted a photo with his mother on Halloween, and people were shocked to see that he lost about 20 pounds.

Though Kardashian appears to be in a much better place thesedays, a comeback to KUWTK remains tobe seen. A life in reality television can be a lot to handle, and with thingsfinally going well for Kardashian, he might not want to put himself right backinto the spotlight. However, he could start coming around more and more duringfilming, though hell likely still take time to work on himself for now.

Weight loss: The best time to eat breakfast to slim down and lose weight – Express

Weight loss, particularly in the short term, is a simple case of calories in vs calories out. But once dieters start to hit the dreaded plateau, a more detailed approach is needed.

Breakfast is commonly known as the most important meal of the day, with studies showing those who dont skip breakfast are slimmer than those who do.

The time breakfast is eaten can impact on weight loss - so when is best?

Speaking to NDTV, dietician Kamal Yadav said: Having a wholesome breakfast can help you healthily lose weight.

The best time to have breakfast is within two hours after waking up.

The sooner you eat breakfast after you wake up, the better it is for your metabolism.

Breakfast helps in decreasing appetite. Consuming breakfast first thing in the morning greatly decreases hunger and cravings throughout the day."

What are the best foods to eat at breakfast time? Choosing the right mix of protein, fat and carbs will set dieters up for the best start and keep their weight loss on track.

Recent research conducted in the Journal of Nutrition, suggested that eating more fibre is a great way to prevent weight gain or even encourage weight loss.

According to EatingWell, there are five main foods that should be at the top of the list for any slimmer.

Starting the day with a low-calorie breakfast meal using some of the five healthy breakfast foods (oatmeal, peanut butter, yoghurt, eggs and raspberries) is best, as eating them regularly can help with weight loss.

This could be scrambled egg on wholegrain toast with spinach and a side of raspberries.

The protein and fibre in the breakfast will help fill dieters up while still maintaining a low-calorie count. It has been estimated that this meal has under 300 calories.

Instead of using thick, sweet sauces such as ketchup or brown sauce, dieters should use herbs and spices to add flavour and interest to meals.

At breakfast this could include chives, cinnamon, or chilli flakes depending on the dish.

While what a slimmer eats will have the biggest impact on weight loss success, exercise and fitness will hone results.

One trainer has revealed the best moves to get rid of belly fat - often the area of the body most people wish they could trim down.

This Guy Lost More Than 100 Pounds in an Incredible 10-Month Transformation – menshealth.com

In January 2018, Quantel Thomas made the resolution to go to the gym and lose weight. And while this is a promise that plenty of people make to themselves, Quantel had good reason to start taking his health and fitness seriously. He weighed 284 pounds and was suffering "constant aches and pains": when he visited a doctor, he was informed he had a high risk of some serious health conditions. "They told me I was pre-diabetic," he says.

Quantel had been overweight for a long time, as far back as the age of eight or nine. He played football in high school, but after having a seizure in his freshman year, he quit playing sports, and that was when his weight gain really began: he was 300 pounds by the time he turned 18 years old.

In 2017, he was still gaining more weight each month, and so at the start of the new year, he resolved to go to the gym as often as possible, and his workout regime soon included training six days a week.

"I really wanted to just get out of that tunnel," he says, although there was another reason too: "At first, it was just for attracting females, I'm not gonna lie to you... Who wants to be with somebody who's not confident in themselves, think they're disgusting-looking, ugly... People don't like hearing negativity about themselves."

After one month, Quantel had already dropped from 284 pounds to 255 pounds. Within ten months, he was down to 180 pounds, having lost more than a third of his body weight.

In addition to reducing his body fat, Quantel has also been building strength through weights training (which has been scientifically linked to a reduced risk of diabetes). He can currently bench press 285 pounds, and deadlift up to 475 pounds. After his dramatic transformation, he now weighs in at 204 pounds as he continues to bulk up for his bodybuilding training. He is studying Exercise Science at college, and he intends to pursue a career as a personal trainer so he can help other people get "out of that tunnel" and feel better about themselves.

"To be able to love myself, that's the true, ultimate milestone achieved to this day," he says.

UAE weight-loss story: ‘How I lost 44kg in two years’ – Gulf News

Mouna El Khoury at various points during her journey Image Credit: Instagram/@yallaketo

Thirty-seven-year-old Lebanese-North African expat Mouna El Khoury went from 104kg to 60kg over two years with her Keto diet.

Now the 174cm self-confessed food lover is 18 weeks pregnant with her second child and weighs 62kg. This is her story in her words - edited for brevity and house-style:

My weight-loss journey started when I was 13.I gained a lot of weight and then from there, I just got into cycle diets I would go into strict diet, lose weight, and then I would eat and gain it back.

Later, I faced health challenges;I had insulin resistance, I had Diabetes Type 2 when I was 18. I had a lot of hormonal issues after that I developed polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) in my early 20s. So all of that contributed to my weight gain/weight loss. I just got confused in an unhealthy world, because its not so easy to find something that works for you and just maintain it as a lifestyle. That was really the thing whatever I was trying was not easy for me to sustain [it].

'It affected my mood'

Each time I would gain [the pounds], my weight wouldfluctuate from 74 to 89. Each time, I would go into a strict diet for a year, work out 5 days a week, no carbs, no sugar, no fat. Basically boiled chicken and broccoli. And you feel depressed, because you look around and say, 'this is not possible'. I tried also meal plans. And after a month or two I got fed up, because I always felt constrained.

Then in my late 20s I also had something called prolactinoma tumor on my pituatery gland its located close to the nerve and was pressing my gland. Then I started putting onweight as well.

I was young, I didnt care to take my pills seriously. And of course I dont recommend that but the only thing that I felt that made a huge difference was when I decided that I needed to focus on my food. At the time, for a year-and-a-half yes, I was on treatment but also no carbs, no sugar and all of that and my acute PCOS, it completely disappeared; my Diabetes, I was off pills; everything went back to normal. The reason I dont think I kept it as a lifestyle, I didnt have the maturity at the time to understand that when you find something that works for your health or your body, you cant just go back to your old habits.

The other thing is I didnt know yet about Keto, so I didnt know I could enjoy it like have a small piece of butter on my steak or avocados as much as I want like things like that that make it more enjoyable as a lifestyle.

Post baby weight

Fast-track, surgery of the tumour done, I went through twomiscarriages and then I got pregnant and like many women, sometimes we have post-partum, we are tired, its [often overwhelming] as a new mum, so I picked up a lot of weight. Through my pregnancy I think I gained 18-20kg, but then after delivery, I kept on gaining weight. I reached 104kg.

One year post-partum, at 104kg, I was in really a bad place, and I felt depressed. I was tired, just taking my son to playground was a hassle; I couldnt play with him. I was lethargic, I was exhausted. I just felt I couldnt go on.

The thing is, at the time, I was also tired of dieting.

One day I just broke down; I was washing my face I just fell down in the bathroom. It was that breaking moment of me just saying things out to myself and recognizing that I was not in a good place that made me want to find something that would transform my life. I was like I need inspiration, so I went to YouTube and I wrote weight loss, life-changing, and I came across Keto, [a high fat, less protein, low-carb diet].

It led me to Dr Eric Berg [who is one of one of the top ketogenic diet experts in the world]. I started watching his videos about PCOS, insulin resistance, big tummies and it was an eye opener for me everything that he was saying was something I had gone through.

Starting on Keto

I love food. So when I sawKeto food, I was like, 'where have you been all my life?'

At the beginning, I was not thinking healthy Keto, I was addicted to all the fast-food. I was like theres a solution for me to still enjoy these foods and lose weight Im in. I think its important that people realise that when you are at 104 or 140kg, and you are addicted to junk food and sugar and carbs. You cannot expect someone to have a piece of grilled salmon, and a bit of lettuce and go on with it.

The truth about Keto

1.You can be Keto and be extremely unhealthy and you can be Keto and be extremely healthy.2.You cannot know everything from day one, so its a journey, step one is finding ways that are low-carb, that are keto in your mind so you dont feel deprived3.Then you change it into a healthier version build up your choices4.This doesnt happen in a day or two this is a journey.

The first month was about Keto. Finding the thing that satisfied what I liked at the time and what I was craving. And that was mainly junk food. I lost 20kg the first 3 months.

Dealing with a sweettooth

From the beginning I was well aware that I needed to adopt new habits for a long lifestyle. I was addicted to sweet, sugar, chocolate, so what I did was a chocolate mousse. I came up with a recipe and every day I would have potful of it. For 10 months, I had the same dessert, because it would satisfy my craving, I know it was low in carbs, it was basically made of whipped cream. Its easy and it takes 15 minutes to do the whole week itll last. It was practical, simple and not breaking my bank. [Read till the end to get the recipe.]

Then I added intermittent fasting. [This] is amazing tool for weight loss, but good for so many other things [as well]. It resets your metabolism, it's good for your health. I did it one month within Keto -why? Because its easier to fast when you are fat adapted. You dont get as hungry as if you are running on carbs. When I started it I was having two meals a day. Big meals, and then I built it up, until I was ablewithin three months to go into one meal a day and I was into one meal a day for over a year and a half. But that works for me, because Im not the kind of girl wholl eat a little bit. When I eat, I eat. I enjoy big meals. I think its the combination of both Keto and fasting that gave me this amazing results.

Yes you can eat hummus on keto

People get confused about this hummus is a bean so how can it be Keto? The thing is to make hummus you fix the beans with olive oil, Tahini and lemon. Both olive oil and Tahini are good sources of fat, so it kind of balances out the dish in terms of carbs:fats intake. Its about thinking a bit smartly and logically about your choices. [That said, count your calories, so you don't get thrown out of Ketosis.]

Third month was about creating habits. The key point here is because on a keto diet, you start running on fat, you dont get cravings, that hunger, you dont feel that need to snack, if you do it properly, with time, your cravings go, completely.

[In the first three months I was down by 20kg]. 10 kg down next three months. Then another 14kg down in a year.

It became such a lifestyle that I wasnt really looking at the scale I knew that this is the right lifestyle for me.

Now, with my pregnancy I have incorporated a little bit of carbs into my diet so sometimes Ill eat a little bit of banana. Because with pregnancy your carbs need to be a little higher, but I dont go for donuts or anything. First I talked to my doctor. He said: rice, potatoes, pasta bring nothing to your kid, they just make you fat. Hes like, if you have a strong craving for it and you want a portion, go for it, but will it add any nutritional value to you? No. he said: eat as much as you want healthy stuff and youll have a healthy baby.

And thats what Im doing.

Sipping water throughout the day is the key for weight loss, says new research – MyLondon

The dreaded middle age spread is often inevitable - but new research claims by drinking litres of water, you can stop it in its tracks.

Regular sips throughout the day can help those hoping to slim down shed the pounds by boosting metabolism, say scientists.

As well as burning up calories, it helps with hunger pangs as well as cleansing the body of waste.

Research shows it is the most commonly reported dieting tool - more than three times as popular as eating less food and over twice as preferred as exercise.

Corresponding author Professor Lu Qi, a nutritionist at Tulane University in the United States, said: "Our analysis revealed an increasing trend in the use of increased water consumption as a weight loss strategy.

"This increase can be attributed to convincing evidence regarding the potentially important role of water in reducing energy intake, which thus contributes to the long term maintenance of weight loss."

The findings, published in JAMA Network Open, are based on data collected from about 48,000 men and women aged 40 to 64.They were participants in the continuing National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) who were followed for up to 17 years.

Among those with a BMI (body mass index) of at least 25 who considered themselves overweight, almost four in ten (38%) tried to slim by "drinking a lot of water," said Prof Qi.

On the other hand, fewer than a fifth (18 per cent) chose exercise and one in nine (11 per cent) eating less.

Experts say if you are constantly dehydrated, your body tends to retain more water in an attempt to prevent levels getting too low.

It is important for liver and kidney health, too.

Guidelines suggest about two litres per day. Urine colour is a good indicator.

If it is light yellow or fairly clear this is a sign of being well hydrated.

Dark yellow or amber means you need more water. Over the study period from 1999 to 2016 current individual BMI increased by an average of 20 per cent and weight by 6lbs (2.77 kilos), underlining the growing obesity epidemic.

Prof Qi said: "These increases were observed despite increases in the proportion of participants who attempted to lose weight and used weight loss strategies, such as reducing food consumption, exercising and consuming a large volume of water."

The proportion who had attempted to lose weight increased from around a third (34%) at the start of the study to more than four in ten (42%) by the end.

Prof Qi said: "Social pressure associated with an acceptable body weight and size might contribute to the increased reporting of weight loss attempts."

He added: "Taken together, these findings suggest that although 34 per cent to 42 per cent of adults in the United States in our study reported weight loss efforts, many of them might not have actually implemented weight loss strategies or applied a minimal level of effort, which yielded unsatisfactory results."

The proportion of participants who reported consuming more fruits, vegetables and salads, changing their eating habits, consuming less sugar, confectionery and junk food increased sharply.

Prof Qi said: "Evidence from other studies has shown these changes to be associated with less weight gain and, therefore, these strategies would be encouraged.

"Existing guidelines and compelling evidence also suggest longitudinal weight management relies on a combination of reductions in energy and fat intake, an increase in dietary fibre intake, regular physical activity, self monitoring, and other behavioural techniques.

"Reduction of either carbohydrates or fat has been similarly related to weight loss, especially in the context of low-calorie diets."

The prevalence of obesity among US adults increased from 34 to 40 percent between 2007 and 2016. Around a third of adults in the UK are obese.

Prof Qi added: "Obesity is associated with a variety of major chronic diseases, including cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes and cancer, as well as premature mortality.

"Compelling evidence suggests that even moderate weight loss significantly reduces the risk of obesity-related diseases and mortality.

"However, losing weight and maintaining a healthy weight remain significant challenges.

"Earlier this year Hollywood star Chris Pratt revealed he lost almost a stone by "drinking water and weeing three times before 10am."

The 40-year-old actor once tipped the scales at a gut-busting 21 stone. He shed over five stone for the role of hunky Peter Quill in Guardians Of The Galaxy.

Brides amazing weight loss transformation after losing 7st with simple plan – Daily Star

A woman, who tipped the scales at 15st at her heaviest size, has shared her 7st weight loss journey.

Rachel Edros started to think about kick-starting her journey after her boyfriend popped the question back in 2017.

The 31-year-old, from Cardiff, was terrified of becoming an overweight bride after fearing how her wedding photos would look if she remained the size she was.

She tried meal replacement shakes and other weight loss methods, but nothing ever worked for her, until one day she decided to try Slimming World with a friend.

Now after joining the group in October 2018, the resource specialist has exclusively revealed how she lost an impressive 7st.

She told Daily Star Online: As the time went on and thinking about my wedding pictures at the size I was, really scared me. I didnt want to be an unhealthy, overweight bride.

Id always made out that my weight didnt bother me as it was easier (I guess) than facing the truth but I knew I wanted to do something about it.

These pictures would last a lifetime and I knew I had to make sure I looked and felt the best I possible could so I joined Slimming World with a friend on 29th October 2018.

I think Slimming World has been extremely instrumental in my weight loss journey, its not like anything Ive done before in terms of it not just being a diet.

I didnt start exercising until about 4 months into my journey with Slimming World, specifically because of how I felt in my own skin but I managed to get overcome my fear.

As well as Slimming World, Rachel first started to increase the amount she was walking everyday to lose weight. Then came the strength training which helped her to build and tone muscle.

She explained: I look forward to hitting the weights now whereas before I thought it was more a guys thing. The amount of energy I have now is amazing.

My life has changed so much that its quite unbelievable, people nearest to me have commented on how Im a changed woman all the time and I see that!

Since following Slimming Worlds Food Optimising eating plan, Rachel has only really cut takeaways out but still enjoys healthy home made alternatives.

Rachel, who now weighs 7st, added: I still have all the fixes in place to maintain a healthy diet, as long as youre patient and following the plan, it will happen, it just takes time.

I previously suffered with debilitating back issues in the mornings, I would often lay in bed for anything between 5-15 minutes trying to breathe through the pain before getting up.

[But now] Ive had absolutely zero pain in my back which has improved my quality of life and general mood daily!
