The HCG Diet What is it?
The HCG Diet, which was first described by Dr. A.T. W. Simeons in 1954, is comprised of a very low-calorie diet (500 calories/day) combined with HCG hormone injections over an 8 week period. HCG is human chorionic gonadotropin. It is the hormone that is tested for in pregnancy and is commonly prescribed for infertility.
Multiple double-blind studies (1, 2) on the effects of HCG on weight loss have been published since Dr. Simeons wrote his book describing the HCG Diet. All of the studies have the same conclusion. The weight loss that occurs with the HCG Diet is solely because of calorie restrictions and has nothing to do with the HCG hormone. It stands to reason that anyone who restricts their intake to 500 calories/day for an extended period of time is going to lose weight. However, it is the opinion of most bariatric physicians that this caloric intake is not safe.
Because no legitimate studies have shown that the HCG hormone to affect weight loss, it is not approved for weight loss by the FDA. Though it is legal for a doctor to prescribe HCG off-label, in most states it is a violation to advertise a drug for an off-label use. In Texas, it is not legal to advertise HCG for weight loss.
At Houston Weight Loss and Lipo Centers, we only use FDA approved appetite suppressants, such as phentermine, in our medical weight loss program.
Most low-calorie diets prescribed by weight loss specialists have a minimum of 1000 calories/day. Eating a balanced diet of 1000 calories per day gives most persons an adequate amount of the recommended daily allowances of vitamins and nutrients. In certain cases, bariatric physicians recommend below 1000 calories per day. These diets are called very low-calorie diets or VLCDs. The most common VLCD is 800 calorie per day and is administered with specially formulated shakes. These shakes meet the recommended daily allowances of essential vitamins and nutrients. Trying to meet the recommended daily allowances eating regular food (without using these special shakes) is difficult and usually leaves a patient vitamin and protein deficient. Protein deficiency this can lead to muscle wasting which could lower your BMR and actually make it more difficult to maintain your weight in the future.
Furthermore, 500 calories per day is not sustainable. Those who specialize in weight management know that the key to long-term success is permanent diet and lifestyle changes. Changes like always choosing good carbs over high glycemic carbs. Or always trying to walk for 30 minutes after dinner. These are sustainable changes one could make in their way of life. No person can implement a 500 calorie per day diet into their lifestyle long term. As mentioned above, even doing this short term is not a good idea.
Most clinics that prescribe the HCG Diet tell their patients that they will be able to keep the weight off because HCG resets your metabolism. There is absolutely no scientific evidence of this. If this were true, all a person would have to do is come in for their HCG shot on a regular basis and they would lose weight. The truth is if any resetting of metabolism is going on, the 500 calorie/day diet is actually lowering the metabolic rate because your body is going into starvation mode.
Many patients also are buying homeopathic HCG over the internet. These substances have little or no HCG in them and even if they did would have no effect on weight loss. The websites selling these homeopathic HCG hormones are scams. It is not legal to sell any form HCG or HCG hormone stimulator over the counter.

What Is the Difference Between Sermorelin and Ipamorelin

Both ipamorelin and sermorelin are used to effectively treat growth hormone deficiencies by stimulating the production and release of HGH.
Technically, both ipamorelin and sermorelin are a type of growth hormone, but more accurately they are what is known as GHRPs, or growth hormone releasing peptides, sometimes also referred to as human growth hormone-releasing hormones, (GHRH) or growth hormone releasing factors (GHRF).
While the two GHRPs have much in common, they are not exactly the same thing.

Both ipamorelin and sermorelin are prescription medicationsused to treat men and women who have been diagnosed with sub-optimal levels of growth hormone.
Sermorelin and Ipamorelin are man-made (synthetic) versions of the GHRH naturally produced by your body. They are prescription medications, used to treat patients with growth hormone deficiencies. Growth hormone-releasing hormones are large peptide hormones that differ from one another only in the number of amino acids, which can vary from 37 to 44. Both ipamorelin and sermorelin are medications that are made to duplicate the action of the naturally occurring GHRH, Ghrelin. Ghrelin is a 28-amino-acid peptide that like ipamorelin and sermorelin acts to increase growth hormone secretion.
Sermorelin is made up of 29 amino acids, therefore its chemical name is GRH 1-29. Ipamorelin is considered to be a somewhat milder GHRP than sermorelin, chemically more similar to Hexarelin and GHRP6.
Both ipamorelin and sermorelin stimulate the secretion of human growth hormone with few if any negative side effects.
As stated above, either sermorelin or ipamorelin can be used to treat low levels of HGH in the blood. Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport (IATA: HGH, ICAO: ZSHC) is the principal airport serving Hangzhou, a major city in the Yangtze River Delta region and the capital of Zhejiang Province, China.[1] The airport is located on the southern shore of Qiantang River in Xiaoshan District and is 27km (17mi) east of downtown Hangzhou. Architecture firm Aedas designed Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport.[2]
The airport has service to destinations throughout China. International destinations are mainly in the east and southeast Asia, and points of Africa, Europe, and South Asia. The airport also serves as a focus city for Air China, China Eastern Airlines, China Southern Airlines, Hainan Airlines and Xiamen Airlines.
In 2017, Hangzhou airport handled 35,570,411 passengers,[3] which ranked 10th in terms of passenger traffic in China. Additionally, the airport ranked 6th busiest in terms of cargo with 589,461.6 tonnes and was the country's 9th busiest airport by traffic movements at 271,066.
The airport was planned to be constructed in three phases. The first phase of construction started in July 1997, and was completed and opened for traffic on 30 December 2000. It replaced the old Hangzhou Jianqiao Airport, which was a dual-use civil and military airfield. In March 2004, the airport officially became an international airport after immigration and customs facilities were built and put into service.[1] A second runway of 3,600 meters is also under construction. Terminal extensions are also under construction as of 2012.
The airport was a hub of CNAC Zhejiang. After the airlines' merger with Air China, the latter inherited the Hangzhou hub.
KLM launched the first intercontinental air route out of Hangzhou, to Amsterdam, on 8 May 2010.[4]
On the evening of 9 July 2010, the airport was shut down for an hour when an unidentified flying object was detected.[5][6][7] Air traffic control could not locate it on radar and prudently waved off landing flights. Eighteen flights were affected. Though normal operations resumed four hours later, the incident captured the attention of the Chinese media and sparked a firestorm of speculation on the UFO's identity.
Phase One of the airport occupies 7,260 acres (29.4km2) of land. It has a capacity of eight million passengers and 110,000 tons of cargo a year, and can handle aircraft as large as the Boeing 747-400.[citation needed] It has one runway which is 3,600 metres (11,800ft) long and 45 metres (148ft) wide. The passenger terminal can handle 3,600 passengers an hour and is 100,000 square meters in size (including an underground parking of 22,000 square meters). The departure level has 36 ticket counters, including 12 in the international side of the terminal. There are 2,900 seats in the departure lounge. The immigration and customs area occupies 9,500 sq. meter of terminal space.
The apron occupies 340,000 square metres of land, and there are 12 jetways and 18 departure gates.
Maintenance facilities are certified to perform B-Check on all types of aircraft and C-Check on Boeing 737 and Boeing 757 aircraft.
Phase Two of the airport expansion project began construction on 8 November 2007. It included an International Terminal, a second Domestic Terminal, and a new runway.[8] The International Terminal was completed on 3 June 2010. The terminal has 8 air bridgegates, with one gate capable of handling the Airbus A380. All international flights, including flights to Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan depart from this terminal. The original terminal handles exclusively domestic flights. All other constructions were completed and operations began on 30 December 2012. [9]
The new runway is 3,400 meters (11,200ft) long and 60 meters (200ft) wide, which is capable of handling the Airbus A380.[10] The new domestic terminal (T3) has 90 Check-in desks and 21 Self Check-in counters. It also adds 26 security lanes and 31 aerobridge gates.[11] All public spaces of the terminal have free WIFI services.[12] With the addition of the new passenger terminal, the airport now has a total terminal floor area of 370,000 square metres and will enable the airport to handle 8,520 passengers at peak hour and 32.5 million passengers annually.[10]
Loong Airlines has its headquarters in the Loong Air Office Building (; Chnglng Hngkng Bngngdlu) on the airport property.[13]
There are airport bus services linking the airport to points throughout Zhejiang and cities in Jiangsu.
Bus services to/from downtown Hangzhou originate/terminate at the Ticketing Office on Tiyuchang Road with intermediate stops in between.
There are currently no subway or railway lines that serve the airport. However, two lines on the Hangzhou Metro: Line 1 and Line 7, both of which connect the airport with the city downtown, are currently under construction and are expected to enter operations by 2020 and 2021 respectively.
The Airport is accessed by Airport Road, which connects to the Airport Expressway and is linked to downtown Hangzhou by the Xixing Bridge. The Airport Expressway also has an exit at North Shixin Road, which is linked to downtown Xiaoshan. The Shanghai-Hangzhou-Ningbo Expressway has an exit at the airport.

How long you will need to take weight-loss medication depends on whether the drug helps you lose weight and whether you have any side effects. If you have lost enough weight to improve your health and aren't having serious side effects, your doctor may suggest that you stay on the medication indefinitely.
If you don't lose at least 5 percent of your body weight after 12 weeks on the full dose of your medication, your doctor will probably change your treatment plan or consider using a different weight-loss medication.

Bupropion-naltrexone is a combination drug. Naltrexone is used to treat alcohol and opioid dependence. Bupropion is an antidepressant and quit-smoking aid. Like all antidepressants, bupropion carries a warning about suicide risk. Bupropion-naltrexone can raise blood pressure, and monitoring is necessary at the start of treatment. Common side effects include nausea, headache and constipation.
Liraglutide is also used to manage diabetes. Unlike other weight-loss drugs, liraglutide is administered by injection. Nausea is a common complaint, and vomiting may limit its use.
Lorcaserin initially raised concerns because it works somewhat like fenfluramine a drug that was withdrawn from the market because it damaged heart valves. However, there is no evidence that lorcaserin damages heart valves. Lorcaserin is typically well-tolerated. Possible side effects include headache, nausea and back pain.
Orlistat can cause bothersome gastrointestinal side effects, such as flatulence and loose stools. It's necessary to follow a low-fat diet when taking this medication. Orlistat is also available in a reduced-strength form without a prescription (Alli). Rare cases of serious liver injury have been reported. However, no cause-and-effect relationship has been established.
Phentermine-topiramate is a combination of an anticonvulsant (topiramate) and a weight-loss drug (phentermine). Phentermine has the potential to be abused because of its amphetamine-like effects. Other possible side effects include an increase in heart rate and blood pressure, insomnia, constipation and nervousness. Topiramate increases the risk of birth defects.
Phentermine as a single agent (Adipex-P) is also used for weight loss. It's one of four weight-loss drugs approved for short-term use (less than 12 weeks). This group of drugs isn't widely prescribed because of the limited duration of use, side effects and potential for abuse. The exception is phentermine. It's commonly prescribed and the actual rate of abuse appears to be low.
Weight-loss drugs aren't an easy answer to weight loss, but they can be a tool to help you adopt the lifestyle changes you need to lose weight and improve your health.

One of the ingredients in CONTRAVE, bupropion, may increase the risk of suicidal thinking in children, adolescents, and young adults. CONTRAVE is not approved for use in children under the age of18.
