Should you lose body weight?
The answer is Yes if you are overweight or obese.
Overweight and obesity refer to a persons excess body fat. By maintaining a healthy body weight, you will look and feel good without placing your health at risk. Many chronic diseases such as heart disease and diabetes, list overweight and obesity as risk factors. The desire to lose weight quickly has led many people to turn to fad diets, which promise a quick fix if you adhere to rigid rules that focus purely on weight loss. They also generally promote a specific food, food groups or a combination (e.g. eating only nuts or berries, meat or fish) and may even claim that these foods alter your bodys biochemistry, making it burn your body fat.
Although you may lose weight quickly when youre on a fad diet, it is usually not sustainable as you will regain the weight or end up weighing even more. Worse still, some fad diets may have harmful side effects. Hence, the effective and safe way to lose weight is to focus on practising a healthy lifestyle that incorporates eating healthily and being active regularly.
Strike a balance
A simple concept to maintain a healthy weight is that of energy balance.
In essence, the energy in (calories from food consumed) should ideally be balanced with energy out (calories used by your body and any physical activity).
If the energy balance is negative i.e. more calories are going out than coming in, then a normal weight person may become underweight.
If the energy balance is positive i.e. more calories coming in than going out, then a person may become overweight or obese.
To lose weight, youll need to reduce your daily calorie intake from food, and increase your daily energy expenditure through physical activities. It is also important to set a goal of how much weight to lose.
It is best to target losing five to 10% of your body weight over six months, or 0.5kg to 1kg per week.
Aim for steady weight loss over a longer period.
Healthy diet for weight loss
Your body requires energy and nutrients to function. Hence, you still need to practise balance, moderation and variety in planning your meals. Heres a sample of calories in popular foods:
Drinking plain water is much healthier than sugary drinks. MCT
> 1 bowl curry noodle (670 kcal) or 34% of daily energy requirement (based on 2,000 kcal)> 1 plate fried kueh-teow (670 kcal) or 34%> 1 bowl assam laksa (470 kcal) or 24%> 3 pieces of banana fritters (goreng pisang) (390 kcal) or 20%> 1 bowl kueh-teow soup (360 kcal) or 18%> 1 piece of fried chicken (260 kcal) or 13%> 2 pieces of karipap (260 kcal) or 13%> 1 can sugar-sweetened drink (137 kcal) or 7%> 1 mug teh O (60 kcal) or 3%> 1 glass plain water (0 kcal) or 0%
To lose weight, aim at reducing your intake by 250 kcal (approximately the calorie contained in one piece of fried chicken) per day.
Try having at least three main meals a day, but reduce the portion size and choose foods with lower calories.
From the sample above, you will notice that certain foods have very high calories.
For example, consuming one serving of curry noodle and one can of sugary drink for lunch would contribute to about 40% of the daily energy needs of an adult. You should opt for a lower calorie combination, e.g. kueh-teow soup and plain water, which provide only half the amount of calorie compared with the previous combination. If you are hungry between meals, try to limit additional food intake to a maximum of two snacks a day.
By playing badminton for an hour, you can lose around 320 kcal. Filepic
Avoid deep fried foods, sugary drinks and desserts, and opt for healthy snacks such as yoghurt, wholegrain crackers, and fruits.
Do consider eating fibre-rich foods as they will help you feel full.
Avoid having late dinners or eating supper just before bedtime as the energy from this meal will be stored as fat during sleep.
Exercise and be physically active
Exercise is extremely important for losing weight. The frequency, intensity, type of activity and duration will affect how many calories you burn. Below are the approximate amount of calories burned from various activities:
> Swim for 1 hour 15 minutes (530 kcal)> Jog for 1 hour 15 minutes (440 kcal)> Cycle for 2 hours (390 kcal)> Play badminton for 1 hour (320 kcal)> Brisk walk for 1 hour and 15 minutes (300 kcal)> Dance for 45 minutes (260 kcal)> Sweep the floor for 30 minutes (70 kcal)
As per the energy balance concept, if you take three pieces of banana fritters, you will need to cycle for two hours to burn off the calories!
Hence, you should be mindful when it comes to balancing your energy intake against your energy expenditure.
Aim to burn an additional of 250 kcal or more from physical activities daily to lose weight such as brisk walking for an hour.
Make a schedule for exercise and find some activities that will fit into your lifestyle. You may opt for indoor exercises (e.g. aerobics/yoga) or take up sports (e.g. futsal, swimming, etc.) with family or friends.
Start with baby steps and gradually increase the intensity of your exercise to 60-90 minutes per day.
Walking is a simple yet excellent way to increase your physical activity level. Aim for 10,000 steps daily and keep track of your progress with a pedometer.
If you consistently fall short of this target, make an extra effort by going for daily walks.
Long term health benefits
Following a healthy, low-calorie diet that is combined with exercise, will likely ensure that your weight goes down.
Remember not to give up too early!
If you revert to your old eating habits, or go back to a sedentary lifestyle, this would lead to regaining the weight you lost.
A conscious effort is needed in order to achieve a healthy weight for long term health benefits.
It may be difficult in the beginning but once you get into the habit of healthy eating and active living, you will find it very rewarding.

HCG Diet – Rapid Weight Loss Centers

Human Chorionic Gonadotropin, HCG for short,is a hormone that is produced in high quantities in pregnant women (200,000-300,000 IU a day). During pregnancy, it triggers the body to mobilizes the mother's stored fat. This is essential because it helps ensure that the baby gets the fuel it needs in order to be healthy. It is commonly used as a fertility drug with no side effects. HCG is highly effective in helping female patients become pregnant. This drug can also help males patients that are suffering from fertility issues (a treatment with this medicine usually enables such cases to produce a higher amount of testosterone).HCG is a popular medicine that is regularly prescribed to male and female patients as part of a regimen to induce fat loss.HCG For Dieting
HCG triggers your body to mobilize abnormal, external fat and most of this fat is around your belly and waist. Therefore HCG helps trigger where your fat loss comes from when you lose weight. HCG makes you feel energetic and helps suppress your appetite. For dieting, a very small amount of HCG is used in conjunction with a low-calorie diet to trick the body to release and burn your stored fat. You dont feel hungry and run-down because your body is now running on your fat reserves. HCG combined with a low calorie diet allows your body to shed off all the unnatural locked fat reserves and keeps your muscle and structural fat in order. HCG dieters report that they feel better and have more energy because of these effects. These results are from using real HCG, not the homeopathic brands sold on the internet.
It cannot be sufficiently emphasized that HCG is not a sex-hormone, that its action is identical in men, women, children and in those cases in which the sex-glands no longer function owing to old age or their surgical removal.
Don't use HCG during a menstrual cycle, the best time to start treatment is immediately after a period. On the first day of full flow, you must stop the injections. You will continue the 900 cal/day diet. When your period is almost over and you are just spotting, you may restart the injections. The injections that you missed during this time will be added to the end of the program so that you get the full 20 or 40.
HCG is a natural hormone and safe for men and women with correct dosages. HCG is currently being used in weight loss clinics because it works and it is safe. HCG is prescribed to help fertility issues in men and women, fertility dosages are as high as 6000 IU and higher per single dose. During pregnancy, a woman's body contains HCG in amounts as high as 300,000 IU on a daily basis. The dosages for weight loss is very small compared to dosages given for fertility reasons. The dietdoseis only 250 IU per day.
Things you can do to ensure that you lose one pound a day or more. Drink more than 2 liters of water per day. Use the B-12/Lipotropic injections to boost your energy and metabolism. Do not eat genetically modified foods or foods with high fructose corn syrups. Avoid artificial sweeteners. Avoid Fast Food Restaurants.

Take The Cake: Diets Don’t Work (But They Do Give People …

Its news to literally no one that diets dont work.
We know that food restriction is correlated with a panoply of negative outcomes: anxiety, body dissatisfaction, inability to focus, and, yes, chronic hunger. I would argue that anyone who has been on a diet could tell you that they dont work, but weve long willfully ignored the results (both as individuals and as a culture) because why exactly? There are a few answers to this question, but Id like to focus on the fact that diets serve other purposes less tangible than a radically different body, and more emotional and social. Id like to share four roles that dieting serves for people who are dieting, with a focus on how it interacts with feminine gender socialization:
Dieting is very good at getting our every waking thought/breath/impulse to focus completely on it. When youre restricting you are deep in the mindset that every bite, every step, every decision you make is either making or breaking you. A cookie or carrot is what stands between you and having a terrible day. When your fate is tied up in every single bite of food, how can you not become utterly consumed? You are being utterly consumed, girl!
Disassociation is something women have learned how to do really well as weve spent hundreds of years navigating our systematic dehumanization. I grew up watching the women in my family disassociate like pros from their dissatisfying marriages, from disrespectful children, from the fact that they had maybe never had an orgasm. Dieting is a socially sanctioned method of mentally high-tailing out of whatever is going on and keeping you entirely in your head, laser-focused on your next bite, your scale, your plate.
Women have been taught that we can talk about how much we hate our body as a way of bonding with other women. Think of that scene in Mean Girls where the popular girls come home from school, stand in front of a mirror and begin a chorus of criticism. Not to be that feminist, but its pretty clearly an example of patriarchal sabotage.
Women are socialized into communicating in a very limited way with other women. Were allowed to talk about a few safe topics that keep us stuck in a sense that we are alone (not the real topics that women face and that unite us like: sexual assault, sadness, sexual frustration, trauma, abortion). In recollecting what women-strangers talk to me about, I would say it boils down to the following: the weather, children (if she has some), maybe housework or our favorite new coffee beverage, maybe where we got our outfit, and dieting. Of all that is available, talking about dieting is actually quite intimate in comparison to, say, discussing the weather. I do honestly believe that when women start talking to me about how food is evil or how bad they look, theyre trying to communicate to me that they want to be friends. Of course, undercutting yourself is not the best basis for intimacy building, but we work with what were socialized to work with unless were introduced to different methods!
Dieting is pretty much universally socially acceptable in our culture. Dieting is considered part of self-improvement and discipline, two of the most important things in our culture. Our culture loves it when we take complete ownership of our fate and pretend that all problems are individual problems that can be solved by individual efforts (not collective change). Dieting is an individual behavior that is supposed to solve a cultural problem - fatphobia. It is hard to stand out - some people dont get to choose whether they stand out or not (like Im a fat brown lady who lives in an affluent white coastal city. I dont get to choose if I stand out.), but some people undertake dieting as a way to fit in.
There are plenty of social rewards to be had by just jumping on the restriction bandwagon. Others verbally encourage people on diets, offering compliments for skipped meals or salad consumption. If youre a fat person, you get accolades for trying to fix your body. These rewards are also internal and psychological. There can be both the negative emotions that come with dieting as well as the positive emotions that come with being able to separate oneself from non-compliant fat people (e.g. Well, yes, Im fat but at least Im trying!). This is a manifestation of internalized self-loathing that is then projected outward.
Its important to understand the multiple dimensions of why people adopt dieting behavior. Its also important to keep talking about and enacting fat activist and fat positive methods as an intervention. Keep feministing!

You probably dont associate celiac disease with heart problems, but research has shown that people with celiac disease are at significantly higher risk of suffering a heart attack. This latest research was presented at the American College of Cardiology's 63rd Annual Scientific Session. Researchers analysed the health records of patients from 13 different healthcare centers between January 1999 and September 2013.From a total of almost 22.4 million patients, 24,530 had celiac disease. Patients with celiac disease were found to have significantly higher rates of coronary artery disease than non-celiacs. The rates were 9.5 percent for patients with celiac disease, compared to 5.6 percent for the rest.
Your skin is actually your largest organ and it has an important role in elimination. We sweat when we become too hot and it is an effective way to lower our body temperature. Sweating has another important function though; it helps your body to eliminate toxins. You probably know some people who sweat excessively, or who have particularly offensive smelling perspiration; their body is desperately trying to eliminate wastes.
