Man is eating nothing but McDonald’s to LOSE WEIGHT – and it’s working – Daily Mail

A 238-pound man has vowed to eat nothing but McDonald's for 100 days in a surprising bid to lose weight and has already shed more than 12 pounds following the unconventional diet.

Kevin Maginnis, 56, from Nashville, Tennessee, has gone viral on TikTok after announcing that he would be having meals from the fast food chain for breakfast, lunch, and dinner for the next three months.

'I woke up this morning and I weighed 238 pounds. It's February 21st, 2023, and I decided that that is absolutely unacceptable,' he shared at the start of his video.

The business coach, who uses the handle @bigmaccoaching, explained that he was challenging himself to lose weight by only allowing himself to eat half of what he orders at McDonald's.

He also has to adhere to having three meals a day and drinking water instead of soda. Snacking is forbidden, but he has free rein to order whatever he wants, from Quarter Pounders to Shamrock Shakes.

'It's not as much what you're eating, it's the quantity that we're eating that really jacks us up,' he said, adding, 'I know many of you are gonna think I'm crazy, but let's find out.'

The video has been viewed more than 530,000 times and has received over 1,200 comments that were a mix of supportive and appalled.

On the first day of his diet, he opted for a Sausage McMuffin with egg and cheese and a hash brown for breakfast.Per the rules he set in place, he only consumed half of the meal and saved the rest for lunch.

Dinner that night was half a QuarterPounder 'done like a Big Mac' and half a medium fry. He had bottles of water with all three of his meals.

His portions are relatively small, and he admitted on the second day that he was feeling the effects of cutting his calorie intake.

'One thing I'm noticing is I'm feeling a little more heat in my stomach,' he said of his growing hunger. 'I'm coining a new catchphrase: "Seek the heat before I eat."'

By the third day,Maginnis shared that he had lost three pounds.

He also got blood work done, so he can see how his fast-food diet is affecting his health in addition to the number on the scale.

'Can we go from French fries to fit guy?' he asked in one playful clip.

Maginnishas been posting daily videos documenting his experience, and he was happy to report at the end of the first week that he was down 10 pounds.

After getting his blood work back, he noted that the numbers were not great, but he believes that by losing weight, he will improve his stats even if he is chowing down on McDonald's day and night.

Ten days into the challenge, Maginnis revealed that he had lost a total of 12.5 pounds and was down to 225.5 pounds.

That same day, he appeared on theToday show to discuss his viral diet.

'It's absolutely working,' he told hosts Carson Daly and Sheinelle Jones.

Maginnis explained that was a wrestler and used to box in the military, so he has had prior success with cutting calories to 'make weight.'

'You have to get to that part of your stomach where you have some heat in your stomach,' he said. 'They call it hunger; I call it my incinerator turning on to burn off all the excess fat.'

Daly was curious to know why he had chosen to eat McDonald's for 100 days straight, especially after he confirmed that the fast-food chain was not sponsoring him.

'Im big [and] my name is Maginnis, so the nickname Big Mac has been thrown out at times. I figured, "Why not embrace it?" And I like McDonald's,' he said.

Jones had assumed he'd be eating nothing but salads, so she was admittedly surprised to see that he was dining on burgers and desserts.

Like many people, she wanted to know if he was consulting with doctors to see what this diet is doing to his insides.

'I have cardiologists that love it and cardiologists that hate it,' he shared. 'Just like the comments on TikTok.'

When asked about his pre-diet blood work, he noted that it was 'going in the wrong direction,' but that didn't scare him off his fast-food regimen.

'My belief is [I] will be down 50 pounds by the end,' he said. 'My health with be better, my blood work will be better and if you don't believe me, follow along.'

Maginnis'schallenge has reminded many people of the 2004 documentary Super Size Me, which chronicled Morgan Spurlock's attempt to eat only McDonald's food for an entire month.

Spurlock ate at the fast-food chain three times a day for 30 days. His physical and mental health rapidly declined, and he gained 24.5 pounds by the end of the experiment.

Maginnis believes his version of the McDonald's diet will prove that portion control is what matters when it comes to weight loss, but fans will have to wait until spring to see his final results.

I tried Michael Mosleys 5:2 diet plan for a month and it’s great for quick weight loss’ – Express

It involves consuming only 800 calories two days a week, and a moderately low-carb Mediterranean-style diet is followed the other five days a week.

When you sign up, you answer several rounds of questions about your goals and lifestyle habits, and a diet plan is generated. Due to the small amount of weight, I wanted to lose, the website chose the New Way of Life programme for me to follow, which would see a healthy weight loss of 0.5-1lb a week for 12 weeks.

I overrode this programme choice and chose the New 5:2 diet.

From there, you can track your progress, plan next weeks meals and even create a shopping list for the ingredients you need.

There is also a section on exercise, with detailed sessions and videos to guide you.

The texture of the shakes was also unusual, personally, I found them really gritty, with a strong metallic aftertaste. Fast 800 says the texture is because they use "real food/natural ingredients" and the texture is "important because one of the things that we tend to miss out on with meal replacements is natural fibre".

I was then sent the new salted caramel protein shake flavour, and it was by far the nicest flavour from the selection - it contained 194 calories, 21.6 of protein, and 6.7g of fibre.

The salted caramel shake was also really smooth after it had been thoroughly shaken - and the stainless steel shaker was also great at keeping the shake cold for several hours if necessary.

I drank the shakes both on fasting days and non-fasting days and found they filled me up quickly, and that feeling lasted for several hours.

On the days I ate 800 calories, I really noticed a change in my mood and believe this was down to both a lack of food and as well as thinking about the food I could eat. I experienced some hunger pangs, but these passed after drinking a glass of water or herbal tea.

Dr Michael recommends exercise snacking or regular HIIT sessions - of which there are several on the website to explore and try.

As someone who exercises regularly, I struggled on the fasting days not to go to the gym and distract myself from thinking about my next meal or wanting to eat. Due to the limited calories you consume on fasting days, its not recommended to undertake strenuous exercise.

The New 5:2 diet is really easy to follow; so many people struggle with diets that are calorie restricted, but because there are only two days a week of eating 800 calories, it was easy to shift your mindset and push through, knowing the following day you could consume around 1600 calories of tasty, nutritional, Mediterranean-style meals.

In the end, I lost three pounds in four weeks by following the New 5:2 diet plan, so I'd recommend it for anyone looking for quick weight loss, or anyone wanting to overhaul their lifestyle and adopt a healthier way of living and eating.

Of course, fast food is never the healthiest option and should especially be avoided if you're trying to lose weight. But if you do choose to stop by Chick-fil-A, it's at least in your best interest to leave Chick-fil-A sauce out of the picture.

The video also says the narrators stepmother is losing 13 pounds per week due to the same hack.

However, this isnt all that it seems, as the videos are actually an ad for a dietary supplement called Alpilean. This supplement says it can help those who take it quickly lose weight. It should be noted that Alpilean nor this hack are new. In fact, earlier this year, Snopes reported that YouTube has previously taken down videos promoting the product, citing its spam, deceptive practices, and scams policy.

Several people contacted Snopes and explained what happens if you follow the links in the ad. This proves that the promised hack doesnt exist and merely exists to get you to buy Alpilean.

Is the Alpilean advertisement through Facebook real? It takes you to a website that has you watch about an hour-long video to learn about a miracle weight loss ice hack.
