Diet Doc Patients Lose Weight Fast With Doctor-Supervision and … – Marketwired (press release)

CLARKSBURG, WV--(Marketwired - May 09, 2017) - With American obesity rate at nearly 35%, millions of Americans are motivated to find the perfect weight loss solution. However, finding a suitable diet and maintaining weight loss, particularly over the long run, is challenging for most individuals. In general, even reducing 1 to 2 pounds per week requires reducing daily intake by 500 to 1000 calories. Medical weight loss solutions and physical activity can help dieters lose weight fast but it is important to be extremely careful in choosing weight loss solutions because some of them are downright dangerous.

For instance, the original hCG diet, developed by Dr. Simeons in the early 1950s, limited daily calorie consumption to a mere 500 calories and prescribed small doses of hCG (human chorionic gonadotropin). hCG is a hormone produced during pregnancy that contains 244 amino acids and has been linked to rapid weight loss by supposedly reducing "abnormal" fat from cells and around internal organs. Dr. Simeons' diet was essentially starvation-based and resulted in negative effects like extreme weakness, hair loss, and muscle loss. It also faced heavy criticism and was ultimately declared unsafe and unacceptable by medical experts, nutritionists, and leading weight loss centers like Diet Doc Weight Loss.

It must be noted that as more has been learned about the hCG hormone, safer hCG treatment programs with higher calorie requirements have become available. Typically, these programs involve undergoing hCG treatment while consuming between 800 to 1250 calories everyday. As a result, dieters can lose weight consistently while minimizing the negative side effects associated with the original Simeons method of hCG dieting. However, dieters should still follow doctor guidance and adhere to nutritional requirements every day to avoid negative consequences.

Diet Doc, a nationally recognized weight loss program, has continuously discouraged the Simeons method of hCG dieting and suggests high-calorie programs that involve safer weight loss. Doctor-supervision and diet customization based on nutritional needs are also highly recommended.

Regardless of their weight loss history or individual struggles, Diet Doc helps patients develop an individualized diet based on their nutritional needs or even their genetics. All Diet Doc programs, provide a doctor-supervised, customized diet plan. Instead of encouraging patients to adopt harmful dietary practices with no prior medical knowledge, Diet Doc consults with patients to provide a detailed weight loss plan based on their nutritional needs and medical history.

Losing weight with Diet Doc is safe, simple and affordable. Nutrition plans, exercise guidance, motivational support, and dietary supplements are all part of the package. Over 90% of Diet Doc patients report an average weight loss of 20 or more pounds every month and long-term weight loss maintenance is made possible through continuous counseling.

Patients can get started immediately, with materials shipped directly to their home or office. They can also maintain weight loss in the long-term through weekly consultations, customized diet plans, motivational coaches and a powerful prescription program. With Diet Doc, the doctor is only a short phone call away and a fully dedicated team of qualified professionals is available 6 days per week to answer questions, address concerns and support patients.

Getting started with Diet Doc is very simple and affordable. New patients can easily visit https://www.dietdoc.com to quickly complete a health questionnaire and schedule an immediate, free online consultation.

Obese woman loses 12st after ditching this ONE thing – Daily Star

LISA JACKSON reveals how she lost 12st by removing one thing from her diet. WARNING: GRAPHIC IMAGES.

At her heaviest, Lisa Jackson was drinking six cans of coke a day.

This left Lisa tipping the scale at 24st and a dress size of 24. Her body mass index was 53.2 double the healthy weight range.

The 29-year-old said the initial weight gain began in 2007 when she found herself getting too comfortable in her new relationship.

By 2013, Lisa had doubled her weight after spending days eating chip buttys, crisps, chocolate and pasta or pizza.

In February that year, Lisa saw a picture of her that would make her change her lifestyle. Standing next to a slim friend, she couldnt believe how large she was.

Lisa began to eat fruit and yoghurt for breakfast, tuna for lunch and chicken breast with sweet potato for dinner.

She also swapped her 800-plus calories of coke per day for water.

High-protein, low-carbohydrate diets are all the rage right now and for good reason. Protein is an important component of every cell in the body. Hair and nails are mostly made of protein and your body uses protein to build and repair tissues.

Three days after Lisas surgery, she was discharged and left with a fat stomach.

"After working so hard to lose half my bodyweight, finding my dream man and getting a taut flat belly is the icing on the cake, Lisa said.

"I was absolutely amazed by the skin removal picture. I didn't ask doctors to take it but now I'm glad they did.

"I keep it on my phone and look at it as a reminder of how hard I worked and how much I went through to achieve my dream body."

"Most people would look at it and be disgusted - but for me it's a reminder of what I've done."

Do apple cider vinegar diets help you lose weight? – KRON4.com

Related Coverage

SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) You may have seen the ads on the internetvinegar as a super food to shed pounds quickly or turmeric to cleanse and detox your body.

KRON4 wanted to find out the facts to these claims, whether they can help or hurt you.

In part 1 of our series, KRON4s Terisa Estacio looks at apple cider vinegar diets.

The Kardashians have reportedly done it, and so has actress and healthy lifestyle guru Gwyneth Paltrow. We are talking about the apple cider vinegar diet making a splash on the internet.

Testimonials brag about following the diet, incorporating the cloudy potion and watching the pounds melt away. But are these alternative facts or the real deal?

Recent reports have shown that regular consumption of apple cider vinegar can lead to digestive health improvement, reduce bloating, increase absorption of vitamins and mineral from food, as well as more balanced PH levels within the body, saidBen Lazzarini, who is with Whole Foods Market.

We have a wide variety, ranging from 16-ounce on the go beverages to somebody who wants to incorporate into more of a daily routine,Lazzarini said.

I think that every year there is a new thing, said Leah Groppo, who is a dietician and diabetes educator at Stanford.

If you go out to eat at a restaurant, you choose a really large burrito. You pull your vinegar out of your purse and you put it on top of that burrito. Is that really going to offset the 150 grams of carbohydrates that youre eating? No, its really not. Groppo added.

Yet on the internet, countless posts cite studies about the wonders of the apple cider.

Reports suggest national shows and news networks have all agreed. Some refer to major research universities including Stanford.

Groppo says she doesnt know of any conclusive studies and adds if you are reading anything on the internet, pay attention to the fine print.

If you look at the vinegar detox diet, it is looking at 650 calories a day, Groppo said. And so on average, people are consuming upwards of 1,800, maybe to lose weight 1,500 caloriesbut 600 calories is significantly lower. Adding vinegar on top of that, if you attribute it to the vinegar, it is the calories that you are intaking.

Groppo says vinegar is not a bad thing, and putting it into your diet can have some benefits.

She says that is true of other ingredients like turmeric to help with inflammation.

Theres really not one big thing that you can add to your food thats going to be the ah-ha moment that your body is going to suddenly turn into this fat-burning, weight-loss machine before you, Groppo said.

Groppo says although it may not be what some people want to hear, managing your weight is still focusing on the basics.

And what about all of those celebrities and their claims about diets and cleanses doing the body good?

Celebrities probably have personal chefs, dieticians, people to encourage them, they have trainers. Its a different ballgame than what most people are in in this world, Groppo said.

Also popular right now are cleanses,a prescription of elixirs that are supposed to detox your body and make it clean again.

Once again, when it comes to your health, there is no quick fix or special potion or fad diet that will reset your body and ultimately make you healthier.

Here’s Why Tom Colicchio Usually Loses Weight While Filming Top Chef (and Padma Lakshmi Doesn’t) – Bravo (blog)

We all know it seems to be easier for men to lose weight than women. Faster metabolisms, more fat-burning muscle, and more testosterone are all reasons why men seem to slim down much more quickly than women do. But that's not why Top Chef head judge Tom Colicchio says he usually loses weight when taping a new season, whereas host Padma Lakshmi tends to gain a few pounds (as much as 17 during Season 4all that deep-dish pizza in Chicago!).

She eats more than I do on the set because she does the quickfire challenges and the eliminations and I only do the eliminations, Tom explained in a recent PEOPLE interview. I actually tend to lose weight believe it or not.

While the show is filming, Tom's schedule is more relaxed than when he's at home, allowing him to squeeze in more exercise, he added. I work every other day so I have more time to workout then I do when Im home, he said. So I usually maintain my weight or sometimes lose weight.

Padma, who claims she consumes thousands of calories a day while taping Top Chef, resorts to her go-to cleanse to help keep extra pounds at bayher "Cranberry Drano." It all gets stirred up and handed to me two or three times a day before I go on set or right after I come off set to keep the pipes clean, she told PEOPLE.

To stay in shape, both Padma and Tom love the same workout: boxing. Tom met his trainer while watching a fight at Madison Square Garden eight years ago and has been boxing ever since. Padma describes boxing as her "meditation" and hits up NYC's Mendez Boxing to stay fit.

It's no wonder these two are so good at sparring with each other at judges' table.

Advice to iron out those fat dimples from cellulite – The Philadelphia Tribune

The word cellulite was coined decades ago in an European beauty-spa to describe fat that has pushed itself between the walls of your connective tissue.

Many people think toxins cause cellulite. Toxins have nothing to do with cellulite. You can develop cellulite whether youre heavy or thin. Nothing you put on the out side of your body will reduce the fat on the inside. The only way to reduce cellulite is to reduce your fat intake and do some exercise.

What is commonly called cellulite is just a dimpling appearance of fat on your thighs and buttocks. Everyone can develop cellulite. Cellulite is most common in women. Its possible for a woman of normal weight to have more cellulite than an overweight woman.

The area where cellulite develops is made up of a network of fibrous bands on top of fat. The fat pushes through this network of bands and creates a waffled or dimpled appearance. The more fat you have, the more cellulite shows. As you age the supportive structure that makes fat appear smooth begins to breakdown. It now takes less fat for the cellulite to show.

Poor diet, fad dieting, slow metabolism, lack of physical activity, hormone changes, dehydration, high total body fat, thickness and color of your skin are other conditions that lead to the development of cellulite. Even genetics can play a role in your development of cellulite.

In the last few years over $30 billion each year was spent to get rid of fat. The least effective method was the cellulite creams, which claim to work by helping your body metabolize fat.

Cellulite develops deep under your skin and metabolism takes place inside the body, not outside. Dieting is the most popular way to lose weight. Dieting will never burn fat or calories. Most of the people who lost weight while dieting gained back all the weight they lost. Some dieters gained back the original weight and from 10 to 15 pounds more.

When you plan to get rid of cellulite you should look at your complete lifestyle.

The Right Nutrition

You should never take in less than 12 calories per pound of body weight. That means a 100-pound person should take in no less than 1,200 calories daily. This type of eating plan will help keep your metabolism constant.

Your metabolic rate determines how fast your body burns calories. To help get rid of your cellulite, you should drink plenty of water and cut high sodium foods from your diet. Eating plenty of fresh vegetables, fruits and whole grains throughout the day will help to replace fat calories. Eating small meals throughout the day will keep you from overeating. We should eat foods loaded with vitamins, minerals and fiber but low in fat and calories.

These nutrients rich foods include vegetables, fruits, whole grains, beans, peas and low fat dairy products.

Its recommended that we have at least four servings each of fruit, vegetables, whole grains and two servings of protein. Low fat dairy products are also important. You need at least two serving daily.

Get Physical

Exercise also speeds up your metabolic rate. Ideally you should do an aerobic workout to burn fat and some strengthening resistance exercises to develop and tone muscle tissue to effectively burn fat. If you diet without exercising, your body will feed on muscle to get what it needs.

A good beginner workout should consist of a light aerobic workout like brisk walking, stretching and basic calisthenics like push-ups for the chest, back and triceps and crunch ups for the abdominal area.

If you have never worked out or youre out of shape, you should see your doctor to get his approval to start a program. You should always work your way into a program gradually. If youre coming back from a long lay off (more than six weeks) due to an injury, you need to be very careful and follow your doctors orders.

Aerobic exercise can help keep weight off, which can reduce the appearance of cellulite. To really smooth out your skin, youve got to lift weights. A study done at the South Shore YMCA in Quincy, Mass., found that adults who did three 30-minute aerobic workouts each week for eight weeks lost 4 pounds, but gained no muscle and only slightly improved body fat composition. Those that combined 15 minutes of aerobic activity with 15 minutes of strength training three times a week lost 10 pounds of fat, added 2 pounds of muscle, and saw a greater overall improvement in body fat composition. The later group looked better and lost a lot of the dimples.

Aerobics Workout

An aerobics workout is any workout that keeps you moving continuously for 30 minutes. It takes the body 30 minutes to switch to the fat burning stage during a workout. The average person can comfortably start with 10 to 15 minutes of aerobic exercise. Gradually build your aerobic exercise time to 30 to 45 minutes at least 3 times a week. Aerobic exercise is the only effective way to burn fat.

Some examples of aerobic workouts include 30 minutes or more of brisk walking, jogging, bicycling, skating, swimming, walking in a pool, aerobic, dancing, racquetball and jumping rope.

Workouts which include a lot of stop-and-go movements will burn calories but are not considered aerobic. These include karate, volleyball, weight training, sprinting, tennis, ballet and gymnastics.

Resistance Exercise

Not doing muscle-building exercises will make you look worse than when you started your diet. Muscle gives the body its shape. Doing toning exercises with weights or active exercise machines for the whole body two to three times a week will help to smooth out the dimpled effect caused by cellulite. Lack of muscle tone will make cellulite more obvious. When you build muscle it will also help burn fat.

A beginner should start by doing 15 minutes of calisthenics. This should include two to three exercises for each body part. Push-ups, sit-ups, knee bends and calf raises are excellent basic exercises.

After getting in some conditioning, starting using some weights. Join a gym. Get a trainer. Make your workout harder.

Dieting and Smoking

The only sure way to lose weight safely is to exercise and diet at the same time. By dieting and exercising sensibly you can lose 1 to 1.5 pounds of body fat a week. Any greater loss will be water, muscle and bone. So get rid of that cellulite safely. Eat right and exercise.

Stop smoking. Cigarette smoke reduces blood vessel flow, weaken connective tissue and disrupt the formation of collagen. Smoking helps to cause the connective tissue to become stretched and damaged more easily. This allows underlying fat to show through your connective tissue. Smoking can also causes premature wrinkles and aging, leave skin dry and discolored and can contribute to stretch marks.

Before starting your fitness program, consult your physician.

What Exactly Is the Sirtfood Diet, and Why Is Pippa Middleton On It? (Spoiler: You Can Drink Red Wine!) – Bravo (blog)

In news that will shock no one, Pippa Middleton reportedly is hitting the gym hard and strictly adhering to a diet in advance of her May 20 wedding. According to E! News, the 33-year-old, set to marry hedge fund manager James Matthews, has been attending hour-and-15-minute Pilates classes at the exclusive KX Gym in Londons Chelsea, and sticking to the Sirtfood diet, created by health consultants Aidan Goggins and Glen Matten. (Adele and a bunch of other Brits weve never heard of also reportedly are fans.)

So what is the Sirtfood diet, anyway? And should you be doing it? Here's the lowdown.

What is the Sirtfood diet?

Research shows that certain foods contain chemicals called polyphenols, which stress out cells so much they stimulate your sirtuin genes, which go into fasting mode and control metabolism and trigger weight loss. Such foods include kale (of course), blueberries, capers, extra virgin olive oil, onions, and walnuts, to name a few, but also indulgences like dark chocolate and red wine (!).

OK, you had me at red wine. How does it work?

For the first three days of the diet, you are only allowed Sirtfood green juices and one full meal made up of approved Sirtfoods, for a grand total of 1,000 calories a day. After the initial phase, you can increase caloric intake to 1,500 calories by having two green juices and two Sirtfood-rich meals a day.

Sounds doable. Whats the catch?

The diet not only restricts calories, it also limits what you can eat. I never recommend completely removing foods from my clients lives because it never ends well, says Tracy Lockwood, a celebrity registered dietitian and founder of Tracy Lockwood Nutrition in New York. She recounts how whenever her clients complete a quick fix diet, they tell her how they celebrated their success with pizza and fries. Now, that doesnt make sense! she says.

Still, Ill lose weight on the Sirtfood diet, wont I?

Any weight loss you do experience on this diet likely isnt real, Lockwood says. The initial weight loss may be related to fluid loss, so its going to eventually come backand then somewhen people go back to their regular eating patterns, she says.

But how bad could eating kale, blueberries, and walnuts all day every day really be? Is the Sirtfood diet safe?

Not at all, says Lockwood. Anyone who is looking to lose weight wont effectively and safely do so by putting themselves in such a severe caloric deficit, she says. And this diet can cause disordered eating habits due to the restrictive nature of the calories and lack of essential macronutrients.

Whats more, maintaining such a diet long-term is near impossible for most folks, unless your sister is a princess and youre about to marry a millionaire. Instead, Lockwood advises, I would encourage people to simply incorporate foods that are high in sirtuins in their existing balanced diet rather than adopt this one.

It seems Middleton herself would even agree. I grew up with the belief that good health is about moderation in all things, she wrote for Britains Waitrose Weekend magazine back in 2014. So Ill be celebrating healthy living through exercise, a balanced diet, and a little of the naughty stuff sprinkled in.

Gluten-free diet may come with health complications, study reports – Science Recorder

Gluten-free diets do not lower your risk for heart disease and may even lead to some health concerns, a new studypublished in BMJ reports.

Gluten is a natural protein found in wheat, rye, and barley. In recent years, many people have cut the substance out of their diet because they believe it leads to better health. However, no long-term studies had looked at how that change affects the risk of chronic conditions.

In the recent research, a team of U.S.-based scientists found that cutting out gluten tends to lower a persons intake of whole grains. As those grains are linked to numerous health benefits including a lower risk for heart disease losing them can lead to problems.

As a result, the team states that, unless a person has celiac disease, they should not shy away from gluten. It can be reduced in some cases, but for the most part, people should balance non-gluten foods with ones that contain whole grains.

Researchers reached this conclusion by analyzing data from a study of more than 110,000 U.S. health professionals. All of the subjects periodically answered questions over a 26-year period about the different foods they consumed. This allowed the team to estimate how much gluten each patient had in their diet, as well as see whether or not they experienced a heart attack during the study.

After dividing the subjects into five groups, the researchers found that those who ate the most gluten did not have a higher risk for heart attack than those who ate the least. In fact, the data showed that gluten initially appeared to be linked with a lower risk of heart attack. However, this connection is not tied to gluten consumption, but rather the intake of whole grains.

These findings do not support the promotion of a gluten-restricted diet with a goal of reducing coronary heart disease risk, the researchers wrote in their study, according toLive Science.

This study is purely observational, which means no concrete conclusions can be drawn about cause and effect. However, the scientists believe there is enough evidence in the data to show that the reduction of gluten may lead to specific heart-related health problems and that people should make sure to keep whole grains in their usual diet.

Any time you eliminate whole categories of food youve been used to eating, you run the risk of nutritional deficiencies, said co-author Peter H.R. Green, director of Columbia Universitys Celiac Disease Center, according to Newsweek. Unless people are very careful, a gluten-free diet can lack vitamins, minerals, and fiber.

Fitness center offers exercise alternatives for all ages – Manhattan Mercury (subscription)

By Ron Wilson May 7, 2017

Want uninterrupted access to TheMercury.com on your computer, smartphone and tablet?

We have many subscription options to fit your needs.

Being fit: That should be a goal for everyone. Health and physical fitness should be important to every individual. Today well learn about a family fitness center which is working hard to involve people of all ages and to make their rural community even more healthy and physically fit. Kristina Kaufman is executive director of Blythe Family Fitness in Pratt. She studied at McPherson College and met her husband through friends. He was a competitive bodybuilder and she gained interest in fitness and health through him. She later earned degrees in nutrition and business.

In 1996, Kristina and her husband opened a fitness center in Kingman. In 2004, they opened a second fitness center in downtown Pratt, upstairs from the Sears store, with approximately 15,000 square feet of space. Ultimately, Kristina and her husband were recruited to combine their business with the Blythe Family Fitness center as it began, and to manage and operate it as they do today.

The Blythe family was from Pratt, Kristina said. Their dream was to have a facility that would benefit the entire community.

The family contributed funds which were combined with support from the community to build the fitness center. A plaque inside the front door recognizes Roy and Elsie Blythe who quietly strove to live the Golden Rule, graciously sharing their generous hearts, patience and encouragement.

In August 2011, Blythe Family Fitness opened its doors. The facility is a beautiful two-story building with approximately 50,000 square feet of space. This includes three basketball courts, a tennis court, a multi-purpose or training room, a racquetball court, tanning and spray tanning beds, and an extensive weight room. A walking track encircles one of the basketball courts. The center serves individual members and also hosts sporting events.

We host gymnastics, volleyball and basketball tournaments, Kristina said. Last week we even had archery.

True to its mission, the fitness center has opportunities for all ages. The center offers child care and summertime crafts for schoolchildren, a Retirefit program for age 60plus, Tai Chi (I thought that was a flavor of tea), Pilates, yoga, Dance-2Fit, group cycling, Execufit advanced weight training, classes, and more. There are offerings from competitive racquetball leagues to a smoothie bar and supplements.

Its a good problem to have, but Im running out of space, Kristina said. We have people on waiting lists for our trainers. She still does some training herself but now works mostly on management of the business. In honor of one local leader, Jack Ewing, an offering called Jacks after school program is provided for third through sixth graders. This includes games, exercise, homework time, leadership development, and healthy snacks developed in consultation with the local K-State Research and Extension office.

We are part of a Healthy Coalition committee which is working on a grant to encourage a more healthy community, Kristina said.

The community is so supportive, Kristina said. We work with the city, the high schools, the grade schools, the parks and rec department, and Pratt Community College.

Blythe Family Fitness has grown to more than 2,000 members.

Every year I try to find something new that we can offer, Kristina said. This is a very family-oriented place. Thats why I love it here. For more information, go to http://www.blythefamilyfitness. org. Guests from out of town are often quite impressed with Blythe Family Fitness.
