ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. Thousands of Western New Yorkers gathered Saturday afternoon at Highmark Stadium, but it wasn't for the Bills. It was for some free fitness classes.
Fitness on the Field featured yoga, Zumba, boot camps, and much more for people who attended. Organizers said they wanted to work with the Bills to make the stadium a community asset.
"As the Bills continue their success, it's just going to mean more opportunity for us as the official health plan of the Buffalo Bills to bring the community into this facility, to connect them to Highmark Stadium, and connect them to the team in a really meaningful and healthful way," Michael Ball of Blue Cross Blue Shield said.
Organizers also stressed the importance of mental health during the fitness classes.

Alexandra Daddario Started Training For A Bigger Butt On Baywatch, And She’s Continued That Fitness Journey Since – CinemaBlend

Alexandra Daddario is a girl who knows her way around a squat. That is to say, she works out with the goal of expressly improving the shape and the size of her derriere. The Baywatch star started working out with a trainer when she was trying to get swimsuit fit several years ago, but after the movie ended, she continued on that fitness journey.
The actress recently shared her workout and healthy eating strategies in a profile for Womens Health. In it, the magazine revealed that training her butt is Alexandra Daddarios big goal. In order to achieve this, her trainer Patrick Murphy has her on a regimented fitness and diet routine and says she really puts in the effort, revealing:
She puts in the work and never looks for shortcuts.
Alexandra Daddario is in good hands. Murphy has worked with a lot of big names known for action sequences. Hes worked with John Wick star Keanu Reeves, who has most recently learned new skills to film Parabellum, the fourth installment. He also has helped shape the lives (and bodies) of The Meg and Batgirls Ruby Rose and Daddarios co-star Zac Efron, who has been open about getting Baywatch fit. Murphy even touts a Baywatch workout plan for clients.
The trainer has said there are specific exercises the White Lotus star targets in order to maintain her goal of a bigger butt. When they workout together they do a lot of glute-oriented exercises, including clamshells, Bulgarian split squats, and walking lunges. She also likes to work on posture through exercises such as reverse flies. Murphy previously admired Daddarios work ethic around the time Baywatch came out, saying on Instagram at the time:
Your commitment, focus and high intensity work in the gym paid off big time!
Avoiding shortcuts makes sense; Hollywood stars like Rebel Wilson, Lizzo and Hilary Duff have touted body positivity in recent years, but simultaneously many actors and actresses have to work to be camera ready at all times. For example, most of Daddarios famous swimsuit scenes might have come in Baywatch in 2017, but she also went viral for a bikini scene in The White Lotus during the pandemic. Fitness is clearly at the forefont of her routine.
Though the actress eats healthy and likes to keep moving in nature during her downtime, too. She said turkey sandwiches and egg whites and fruits are some meal favorites. She likes soup, steak and pasta with vegetables for dinner. And when shes not working on set, she tries to spend time outside.
Ive found that my body heals faster and responds better if Im in tune with myself and can be in nature.
Theres been a rash of female celebrities really pushing working and lifting heavy over the past several years. I think workouts from superheroines like The Marvels Brie Larson and other ladies in the MCU have really pushed this movement, but it's clearly not just superheroines who are lifting heavy these days.
In fact, Dwayne Johnson even went viral earlier this year after he admired Khlo Kardashian's glutes, so it seems butt workouts are starting to gain the stamp of approval from those who really understand the effort gains take. Here's hoping that effort pays off in Alexandra Daddario's next roles.

Bad Fitness Habits That Are Rapidly Aging Your Body, Trainer Reveals Eat This Not That – Eat This, Not That
![](https://www.dgw.tv/wp-content/themes/elegant-brit-b/images/caticon.gif)
![](https://www.dgw.tv/wp-content/themes/elegant-brit-b/images/comicon.gif)
No matter your age, the goal is to lead a healthy, active lifestyle. This means sticking to a few crucial habits: eating a diet chock-full of veggies and lean protein, performing strength training, and getting in weekly cardio sessions. Although many individuals try to stay dedicated to their healthy habits, picking up some unhealthy ones along the way isn't uncommon. Today we're going to chat about the bad fitness habits that are rapidly aging your body so you can ditch them ASAP. Keep reading to find out if you're making any of these errors.
Growing older comes with the loss of lean muscle mass, otherwise known as sarcopenia. After you hit 30, you can lose up to 3% to 5% of muscle mass every 10 years. This results in decreased mobility and increased weakness. That's why it's so important to perform strength training and make sure you're eating enough protein in your diet.6254a4d1642c605c54bf1cab17d50f1e
Of course, when leading an active life, there's a right way to go about it. Make sure you're avoiding these bad fitness habits that are rapidly aging your body.
Related: The Best Fitness Habits That Slow Aging, Trainer Reveals
Pre-workouts are all the rage right now. Many fitness enthusiasts love incorporating them as part of their routine so they can train harder and make the most out of each sweat session. Some use them as a pick-me-up if they're not feeling energetic and need that extra push to get into workout mode.
The problem is that many of these pre-workout supplements are high in caffeine, which can lead to negative side effects like headaches, insomnia, anxiety, jitters, and an increased heart rate, according to Healthline. In addition, pre-workout could upset your stomach, increase water retention, and even result in weight gain (if creatine is part of the particular formula).
It's easy to become reliant on these supplements, but for the sake of your health and getting in a solid workout, I recommend using them as a last resort. Stick to one to two cups of coffee instead.
Related: The #1 Strength Workout To Regain Muscle Mass as You Age, Trainer Says
Although you want to make progress in your workouts, some individuals go overboard. This is typically in the form of performing too much volume (sets and reps). It's easy to think that if you're doing something good for yourself, it's probably worth overdoing. However, there's only so much work you can do before it negatively impacts your body. The term for this is known as "junk volume," where you're simply accumulating fatigue with no added benefits.
Remember that training is also a stressor on the body. If you're using too much volume without taking sufficient time to recover, this can increase your cortisol levels. Your energy over the next few days will suffer. Needless to say, it's not worth having a brutal workout followed up by a few where your performance isn't the best. Instead, perform 2 to 3 working sets of an exercise, then move on to the next.
Just like going overboard with training volume is a major no-no, another one of the bad fitness habits that are rapidly aging your body is skipping out on rest days, which can cause burnout. If you're training hard, then you need to take a day to focus on active recoverylow-intensity cardio, stretching, and stress management. In order to make progress and build muscle, you have to let your body rest and recover. After all, that's when the growth occurs.
Dedicate one to two days a week to rest days, focusing on other low-intensity activities. If you've been pushing your body through a tough training program, consider taking a deload week, where you cut back on both the volume and the intensity of your workouts.

Fitbit Inspire 3 Review: A Tiny Fitness Tracker With Big Battery Life – CNET
![](https://www.dgw.tv/wp-content/themes/elegant-brit-b/images/caticon.gif)
![](https://www.dgw.tv/wp-content/themes/elegant-brit-b/images/comicon.gif)
The $100 Fitbit Inspire 3 (85, AU$180) is a great entry-level fitness tracker ideal for Fitbit newcomers as well as a major refresh for anyone upgrading from an older Fitbit. It has a color AMOLED display, a new menu system and the same long battery life. The Inspire 3 is compatible with Android and iOS to receive notifications or call alerts from your phone, plus it tracks sleep in the same way as the most expensive Fitbit trackers and smartwatches. So it's easy to recommend the Inspire 3 if you want the best battery life from any Fitbit -- 10 days -- without the bells and whistles from our current favorite, the $150 Charge 5.
The Inspire 3 comes with a six-month free trial of Fitbit Premium, the $10-a-month subscription service that unlocks more data on sleep and recovery. The previous Inspire 2 model came with a one-year trial. While not required to use the Inspire 3, Premium is fast becoming an essential part of the now-Google owned Fitbit experience and definitely something to consider when looking at the total cost over the lifetime of the device.
Plus, several less-expensive fitness trackers have been nipping at Fitbit's heels for the past few years so there's more competition than ever. In particular, the $60 Xiaomi Mi Band 7 has an even larger screen than the Inspire 3 and offers similar health features, even if it lags behind on sensor accuracy. Garmin also has the Vivosmart 5 with even more fitness-tracking options, but it's more expensive at $150 and has just a monochrome screen.
Earlier Inspire models had to make do with a monochrome display, but the Inspire 3 gets a boost with a color AMOLED screen. This is really the biggest reason to upgrade if you are coming from an older model, as it makes all the difference to the user experience without sacrificing battery. The case measures 1.55-inch, but the screen itself doesn't take up all the usable space on the device. Depending on the light, you can see the edges of the display and the bezels.
You might be curious about how the Inspire 3 compares to the $130 Fitbit Luxe, released in 2021. If you're choosing between the two, apart from price, the Fitbit Luxe is a tiny bit slimmer and its screen is a hair larger, but the difference is hardly noticeable unless you inspect them side-by-side. So unless you really value the sleeker look of the Luxe and want a more jewelry-like finish with bands and accessories, the Inspire 3 is a far better value overall.
The display can stay always on, so the clock face remains visible at all times, though that does eat into overall battery life, reducing it from 10 days to 3 days. The clock faces are all big enough for me to see, but I think if you need reading glasses, seeing your workout metrics on screen might be a bit of a challenge as the text is quite small.
Navigating the Inspire 3 is a little different than on earlier models. There are now two haptic buttons on either side that you can pinch to turn on the screen or to return to the clock face from any menu. Swipe left and right to access workout tracking, breathing exercises, timers and alarms or notifications from your phone. Swipe up and down to get to settings and your daily health overview, respectively.
A new $20 clip attachment lets you wear the Inspire 3 elsewhere on your body to track a workout when you can't wear it on your wrist, like for boxing. But the Inspire 3 doesn't have the same quick-release buttons as the Charge 5, which make it easier to swap bands; instead they're toggles that are quite fiddly to adjust. The Inspire 3 is water-resistant to 50 meters (164 feet).
The Inspire 3 without a strap, in the clip-on attachment.
For newcomers to Fitbit, the Inspire 3 can track steps, heart rate and blood-oxygen levels throughout the day and night. Workouts and sleep can be tracked automatically or manually as well. The Inspire 3 uses a metric called Active Zone Minutes to help you reach recommended activity levels, and it takes into account how much time you spend with your heart rate in certain zones, personalized to your age and fitness level. I really like how it's tracking all this passively in the background, even if I forget to start a specific workout. Just going up and down the stairs several times a day can help contribute to your Active Zone Minutes goals.
Starting a workout on the Inspire 3
The Inspire 3 has connected GPS rather than a GPS built-in to the device. This means you'll need to take your phone with you to track outdoor route information and distances for things like walks and runs. You can track over 20 different workout types with space to store six workout profiles on the device itself. To swap in your favorites, you need to load the Fitbit app then resync to the band.
The fitness tracking experience is pretty simple, though you can see heart rate, time elapsed, pace, calorie burn, steps and your active zone minutes goal by swiping through each screen during a workout. After you're done, it shows a quick summary of your metrics, and when you sync with the Fitbit app, you get the full rundown on your phone including route information and a map if it was an outdoor workout.
This tracker also has high and low heart rate alerts, plus irregular heart rhythm detection during sleep, which can notify you if it registers signs of atrial fibrillation.
Fitbit's sleep tracking is comprehensive, and even on this small device you still get a full deep dive into sleep stages. It's all easy to interpret in the Fitbit app when you sync each morning, and if you have Premium you'll see trends over time as well as metrics like skin temperature overnight. After 14 days of wearing the device, you'll get an in-depth sleep profile and each month you'll get an updated sleep animal that depicts your sleep style. I'm a tortoise, if you're playing along at home.
All your workout and sleep data is pulled together in the Daily Readiness Score, also a Fitbit Premium feature. This helps indicate if your body is up for taking on more activity that day, or if you should take it easy and concentrate on something a little more relaxing like breathing exercises or yoga. I'm a big fan of the score and love the personalized workout recommendations it gives. There's also a stress management score that can indicate how your body is coping with stress, calculated from metrics like heart rate, sleep and activity levels. A higher score means you're coping better, but I don't find it as helpful as the Daily Readiness Score overall.
The Inspire 3 is fairly bare-bones when it comes to smart features. You can see notifications come through from your phone, with the option to filter them by app type from the Fitbit app. There's a timer and alarm app built-in to the tracker, plus a find-my-phone feature to ping it so long as it's within Bluetooth range. It's also compatible with Google Fast Pair so it connects quickly to Android phones.
But that's about it. There's no Fitbit Pay for contactless payments from your wrist, music playback control or music storage onboard. Really, you're getting this tracker for its passive health and fitness monitoring -- not as a smartwatch alternative.
The 10-day battery life of the Fitbit Inspire 3 is really impressive, and includes sleep tracking, some basic workout tracking and essentially wearing the device 24/7 during my tests. That battery life matches the Inspire 2, even with the new tracker's more vibrant color display.
While battery life could vary based on your usage -- and substantially so if you use the always-on display mode that brings it down to three days of battery life -- I was still really impressed with not having to charge the tracker anywhere near as often as other Fitbit models I've reviewed.
Fitbit nails the formula for a basic fitness tracker with the Inspire 3, especially if you want something that tracks passively in the background with only occasional recharging. But its most useful features require Fitbit Premium, which is an additional monthly cost once the free trial is over.
The Inspire 3 should meet the needs of someone looking at Fitbit's slightly more expensive $130 Luxe tracker, and even surpasses it with longer battery life. But if you want Fitbit Pay and even more fitness-tracking features without spending extra on a Fitbit Versa smartwatch, the $150 Fitbit Charge 5 is the best overall buy.

National Fitness Day is back, so get active and develop a fitter, healthier Ireland – Independent.ie

![](https://www.dgw.tv/wp-content/themes/elegant-brit-b/images/comicon.gif)
National Fitness Day is back with a bang this year. Leisure and fitness facilities across the country are opening their doors to the public with open days, classes of all kinds and free giveaways on Thursday next.
he aim of the day is to promote the benefits of physical activity, while showcasing the range of facilities, sports, and options available across the country for people to choose from. National Fitness Day is spearheaded by Ireland Active and supported by Sport Ireland, Healthy Ireland, and the European Commission.
Ireland Active is the national association for leisure, health and fitness sector and represent over 350 publicly and privately-owned leisure centres, gyms, swimming pools, fitness education providers and recreation facilities nationwide. They were instrumental in the safe return of gyms following the Covid-19 pandemic lockdowns.
Now, Ireland Active are working tirelessly to lobby government in tackling the cost of the energy crisis which is causing havoc in the Irish leisure industry.
The bottom line is that without financial support in the upcoming budget, people are facing the loss of fitness and swimming facilities that they rely on for their health and wellbeing while children will lose out on learning to swim.
Over 60 Ireland Active member leisure centres and gyms will participate in National Fitness Day events. Schools will take part in a Take on the Teacher challenge, pitting students against teachers in sports day games in the hope of winning fitness equipment for their classrooms.
Offices and workplaces will also be putting on free yoga and aerobics classes as a way of invigorating staff while incorporating more physical activity into the workday.
Regular exercise has a number of beneficial factors, from creating a healthy mind and body to a greater quality of life. However, many of us find getting fit troubling. It becomes a challenge, and it shouldnt be that is why we believe a day like this is so important.
With a multitude of free events available on the day, it is a fantastic opportunity for those who might not be regular gym-goers to get moving and exercise.
David Nolan, National Fitness Day Ambassador and sports scientist, writes that: Being physically active and engaged in exercise has a wealth of benefits for your physical and mental health.
While you may be familiar with the physical benefits of improved fitness, reduced risk of lifestyle-related diseases and achieving a healthy weight, you may not be as au fait with the mental health benefits.
Those who exercise regularly, on average have better mood states, reduced anxiety, improved mental function and reduced risk of neurological diseases such as Alzheimers and other dementias.
National Fitness Day is for all demographics, whether old or young, gym fanatic or newcomer. For this reason, Ireland Active are partnering with ExWell Medical, who provide medically supervised exercise as a means of rehabilitation and disease prevention.
As Nolan explains: Exercise is especially important as you get older, particularly strength-based exercise as it strengthens your bones and muscles. This allows you to move better and maintain your independence and quality of life as you age. Strength exercises also reduce your risk of falls and fractures, which we all know can have a drastic impact on your health.
No matter your age or ability, there is a form of exercise you can reap the benefits of. Seek out qualified professionals who will be more than happy to help you get started. Whether its strolling, swimming, or squatting, you wont regret starting.
Our national physical activity guidelines recommend children and adolescents (2-18 years) should be engaging in moderate-to-vigorous physical activity for at least 60 minutes every day, while adults should be physically active for at least 30 minutes for five days a week. However, research has shown that only 13 per cent of children and 46 per cent of adults meet these guidelines.
In addition, significant gender gap in physical activity levels persists, with 54 per cent of men to just 38 per cent of women meeting the guidelines.
So, National Fitness Day is a nationwide effort to break down these barriers and provide free classes along with a welcoming and enjoyable experience to gym-goers. How you celebrate National Fitness Day is entirely up to you. However, there is no shortage of events taking place across the country.
Karl Dunne, Chief Executive of Ireland Active, sums it up well when he states: At Ireland Active, we are passionate about developing a fitter, healthier Ireland. This years National Fitness Day will run as part of the 2022 European Week of Sport, and we are particularly proud that we will play our part in what will be a fantastic week of activities.
After what has been a difficult year for our industry, we are really looking forward to seeing everyone get involved on the day and making use of the excellent facilities on offer across the country.
If you wish to get involved, a map of all activities in Ireland, along with sign up details can be found on nationalfitnesday.ie.

This regimen is a circuit-style session. That means you'll move straight from one exercise to the nextwithout breaksuntil completing the circuit. You'll rest for 1 minute before repeating. So gear up, and keep reading for the total-body workout that'll flatten your stomach.
Grab a dumbbell or use just your body weight for this first exercise. Stand with your feet hip-width distance apart. Keeping your chest upright, push your hips back and down, and descend until your hips go below the height of your knees. Then, come back up, making sure to push your knees out as you go into the squat, and keep your weight on your heel. Perform 20 reps.

For lunges, stand upright with your feet hip-width apart. Take one large step forward, and then lower your body until your thigh is parallel with the floor. Your knee should be at a 90-degree angle. When done, come back up, and switch sides. Perform 12 reps per side.

Grab a moderately heavy dumbbell or kettlebell, and find a bench or chair. Put one knee, along with the same-side hand, on the bench for support. Hold the weight with the opposite arm, and pull it up to your chest, making sure to keep your core engaged. Bring the weight back down until your arm is straight, and repeat. Perform 10 reps per side.
Get back into the same push-up position as before, but this time, bend your elbows and rest your forearms on the ground. Your elbows should be directly under your shoulders. When you are holding this position, make sure to keep your abs tight and keep your hips in the air with your glutes engaged. There should be a straight line from your shoulders all the way down your body to your ankles, so no sagging hips! Hold for 30 seconds.
For this final exercise that'll help flatten your stomach, lie on one side with your legs extended. Keep your feet stacked on top of each other. Bend your elbow, placing it directly underneath your shoulder, and lift your hips off the ground. Make your whole core stays activated. Perform a plank for 15 seconds per side.
Rest for 1 minute, then repeat the circuit 3 to 5 times.

I want to make a training atmosphere where we are building ourselves up over time, not breaking ourselves down, says Coach Brian.
His approach is designed to maximize the bodys potential through conditioning. This enables the students to build the endurance and strength necessary to progress through different BJJ levels without the added burnout. He leverages over a decade of experience in mixed martial arts to create tailored approaches to meet each students unique needs.
According to Coach Brian, I was 114 pounds when I started training as an adult. Having techniques that work for the weaker student is very important to me.
Compared to traditional BJJ, 10th Planet Jui-Jitsu doesnt use gi. Instead, it focuses on developing clinching techniques or submission-only grappling to prepare students for self-defense and MMA competitions. This style of BJJ also incorporates different fighting styles or martial art techniques from across the world.
Beyond teaching students BJJ and building their fitness, Coach Brian also works to empower his students and nurture their self-confidence and discipline.
