Katie Price preparing for the worst as Harvey is taken to intensive care with 42C fever and risk of coma – The Sun
KATIE Price was fearing the worst last night after doctors warned that son Harvey was in a perilous condition.
She was told the 18-year-old was at risk of a heart attack or organ failure, which could plunge himinto a coma.

Harvey was rushed to hospital by ambulance with breathing problems after his temperature shot up to a dangerously high 42 degrees.
A close friend said: Katie has been preparing herself for this moment all his life and shes been told Harvey is in a perilous condition.
Shes been here before, but this time its far more serious.
Shes trying to be tough and strong, but inside shes falling apart and feels helpless.
The model and TV star was devastated that she would not be allowed to stay overnight next to Harvey in ICU due to new visiting restrictions triggered by the Covid-19 pandemic.
The close friend added: Doctors need to get his temperature down. Hes in a really bad way.
Harvey has the rare genetic condition Prader-Willi syndrome, which can cause weight gain and behavioural problems, and is also partially blind and on the autistic spectrum.
He sat in a wheelchair inside the ambulance that took him to Epsom Hospital, Surrey.

On Instagram last night, Katie told followers: I can confirm Harvey is in intensive care and in the best hands and would like to thank the ambulance services and the hospital staff for the quick response and making him stable.
It is the second time Harvey has needed hospital treatment in two weeks after he fell ill at sister Princess 13th birthday at her Surrey home.
Harvey experienced chest pains that felt like pins and needles and was later sent home after being diagnosed with a chest infection.
Speaking to The Sun earlier this month Katie revealed doctors told her Harvey is at serious risk of dying from a heart attack if he does not lose weight.
And, in a brutally stark statement, the fearful mum said she hoped Harvey would die before she does, because he simply will not be able to cope without her.
Katie said: When Harvey went into hospital, I feared the worst. I always do.
The doctors have told me hes at high risk of having a heart attack. Hes 27st, wears 5XL clothes and he gets out of breath walking up the stairs. So of course I panicked.
As well as Harvey, whose dad is former Manchester United footballer Dwight Yorke, Katie has Princess and Junior, 15, with ex-husband Peter Andre.
She also has two children - Jett, six, and Bunny, five with Kieran Hayler.
Death fears at 27st
By Joe Duggan
KATIE admitted this month she feared 27-stone Harvey could die of a heart attack if he does not lose weight.
The teenager has an excess appetite caused by his genetic condition.
After his hospital trip with chest pains last month, Katie said: I cant see him living past 50 unless we sort out his weight and breathing.
Harvey was born with the brain disorder septo-optic dysplasia which left him partially sighted.Katie found out when he was around six weeks old.
He also has ADHD and an underactive thyroid.
In 2018, when he was 16, Katie admitted she feared Harvey could die from diabetes if he did not get fit.
She praised her then boyfriend Kris Boyson for working out with him after his weight topped 22 stone.
Harvey now lives in residential care five days a week.
Katie has said his conditions arent life-limiting as long as he takes medication and we watch his weight.

Katie has total faith in the outstanding team whose care Harvey is now under.

President Trump Coronavirus Task Force
We ought to be thinking about how wed live with the virus for years. After all, it usually takes years to develop a virus vaccine.
We cant try to impose six-foot social distancing or face masks forever; humans are social animals. As it is, now that were in the midst of the pandemic, a substantial minority of Americans, in the sort of denial and wishful thinking encouraged by the Trump regime, refuse to follow any guidelines. This minority makes it nearly impossible to stop the pandemic in the United States.
Of course, everybody will have to decide for themselves the costs and benefits of following the standard public-health guidelines for a pandemic without a vaccine.
Barring a vaccine, well have to accept that well just have to wait for herd immunity, achieved by most people being infected, to stop the pandemic. And for now, if were responsible, calmly waiting in lines at stores and other public places six feet apart. Thats the sort of thing that most living Americans, famous for their impatience, have never had to tolerate until now. Indeed, were all getting new lessons in the usefulness of patience and fatalism.
The White House, for all its corruption, incompetence and lies, is quite right that America will have to live with the virus for the foreseeable future.
COVID-19 will seriously sicken, and kill, only a small percentage of the U.S. population, but that may still mean millions of people over the next few years. And we have to accept the tradeoff costs of reopening in sectors, especially schools, where the social, intellectual, economic and, yes, physical and mental health costs of not mostly physically opening exceed those of staying mostly physically closed. Remote learning, for example, is a disaster, especially for younger students.
As we wait, there are other things we can consider doing, besides social distancing and face masks, that can help save people from getting very sick from COVID-19: For example, lose weight! Obese people are particularly vulnerable to this virus. And America is the Empire of obesity.
I wonder how much the U.S. birth rate will fall because of the pandemic. Social distancing indeed!

Governor Gina Raimondo
Who would want to be a governor now!? Consider Rhode Island Gov. Gina Raimondo, who has come under pressure from small business and Lt. Gov. Dan McKee (who seems to be running for governor) to step up state help for small businesses slammed by the pandemic. Large, very profitable, and sometimes politically connected and lobbyist-rich enterprises seem so far to have received disproportionate shares of federal COVID-19 money meant for small business across America.
Saying that small business is the backbone of America is an old favorite of politicians but of course, in practice, its the big ones that are favored, especially since the federal government in recent years has pretty much stopped trying to limit monopolies and oligopolies.
The Governor is holding back some federal relief money for small enterprises because the state faces a huge budget deficit caused by the pandemic. But under federal relief rules, states arent supposed to use the money that theyve gotten from the Feds to plug budget holes! The governor is hoping that the Feds will soon come up with money to help states and localities address these COVID-caused budget nightmares. With an election looming, the Feds probably will come through.
"Were putting the final touches on our proposal," she said of her new plans for small businesses.
"It's most likely going to look like small grants to various small businesses who qualify, something for say restaurants to buy supplies...dollars in the hands of businesses," the governor said. In any event, many, many small enterprises are dying across America because of the pandemic.
The Governor is trying to reduce the big cuts in public services, and increases in taxes, that seem inevitable in this mess. She and other governors will make plenty of enemies as they move money around in the crisis.
Meanwhile, I admire how the state and localities are creating such detailed plans on how to reopen schools, but of course, much depends on the course of the pandemic. As Dwight D. Eisenhower said:
Planning is everything, the plan is nothing, meaning you need to layout possibilities, options and the general direction you want to go but reality tends to pot-hole and twist the straight route you had hoped to take and you must improvise.

Speaker of the House Nick Mattiello and Senate President Dominick Ruggerio
Even as Rhode Islands state government faces a disastrous financial situation, the Democratic leadership of the General Assembly seems determined to hand a new plum to part of one of its most important constituencies public-employee unions. This is the sort of thing that happens when the public is distracted by other things.
The legislature plans to hand big disability pension payments to retired (and they tend to retire mighty early) firefighters who get any cancer, with the presumption that the disease is caused by their occupation. A disability pension for firefighters in Rhode Island is about two-thirds of pay, tax free, for life.
Many, many people, in all occupations, get cancer, and with a wide range of causes, genetic, environmental or otherwise. You can get cancer from smoking cigarettes, being out in the sun too much, drinking excessively (which can cause liver cancer) and just bad genes.
This provision, which seems to be a done deal that the governor will accept, will cost taxpayers dearly over the years.

Metacomet CC PHOTO: Club video
Not surprisingly, many neighbors of East Providences 18-hole Metacomet Country Club arent happy. The club has been bought by a developer, Marshall Properties, that puts up, among other things, strip malls. Most of the neighbors have liked having all that lovely green space next to them and want to keep it that way. But the developers have suggested that they might put a hotel, stores, apartments and townhouses, offices and assisted-living housing there. Many East Providence residents who dont live near Metacomet might be happy if the tract were thus developed, bringing in lots of new property-tax revenue.
Maybe the neighbors who most strenuously oppose redeveloping the park-like tract should pass the hat and buy all or part of it and turn it into some sort of a private nature reserve bigger than the 52 acres (35 percent of the tract) that the developers have offered to set aside for open space. After all, the neighbors have been the people most benefiting from Metacomet.

Brooks Brothers filed for Bankruptcy
Brooks Brothers, that venerable clothier (founded in 1818) has filed for protection under the U.S. Bankruptcy Act. The proximate cause was the loss of business caused by COVID-19, but it has also suffered from a long decline in sales of more formal business/office wear, both because offices are more informal than they used to be and because even before COVID more and more people had been working from home, where its acceptable to be something of a slob. And, more generally, weve lost the sense of occasion represented by being well dressed.
Brooks stuff has generally been too pricey for me but I have fond memories from many years ago of buying their tough blue Oxford button-down shirts on sale. They lasted for years.
Tropical Storms Move North
Tropical storms off the East Coast are forming and strengthening farther north than they used to. Thats because the ocean water south of New England is warming as part of man-driven global warming. Tropical storms main source of energy is the warm moist air over warm ocean water.

Inspiring Words and Bad Behavior
Its important to differentiate between the inspirational value of the ideas and words of American luminaries represented in statues and other public displays, and their actions. Dont minimize the words just because of the flaws of the speaker and writer. And hypocrisy makes the world go round anyway.
Thus, while Thomas Jefferson was a slave owner, his words in the Preamble of the Declaration of Independence have helped lead people to new conceptions of human rights. While in writing that all men are created equal he really meant all white men who owned property, over the years his words took on a universal applicability and resonance.
We should accept the complexities of history.
On other statues (not the American Founders): Move to museums (if the statues are truly fine art and not just political kitsch), but dont destroy, statues of the traitors who were Confederate generals, etc. most of which were erected long after the Civil War in the Jim Crow era and the fraud known as The Lost Cause in the old Slave States. Change the names of the military bases named after the Confederate traitors. As for statues of the likes of ambiguous figures such as Columbus, etc., if its good art, keep em where they were. But, as Ive suggested before, hire sculptors to make statues of neglected heroes to put in the mix, thus enriching the publics understanding of history.
By the way, there are no public statues of Hitler in Germany
Another study indicates that Blue States are generally much better places to live than Sunbelt Red States (unless you really hate winter). Consider WalletHubs most recent ranking of the 10 safest and 10 least safe states in America as measured by 53 indicators. The 10 safest, in order of safety, are: Maine, Vermont, Minnesota, Utah (Red State but with all those civic-minded, charitable and clean-living Mormons), Wyoming (Red State with very low population density), Iowa (Purple State), Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Connecticut and Rhode Island.

Its not normal to go to the toilet 15 times a day – The Irish Times
Andrew Kiernan believes the best way to address any stigma attached to having inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is to talk about it openly.
Its better to be upfront with people and although you may lose some friends along the way, the best people will stick by you, says the 25-year-old, from his lockdown home office in his parents house in Co Monaghan. Kiernan, who was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis in 2014, works in human resources for the Kerry Group in Naas, Co Kildare.
Kiernan was fit and healthy until he was 19, in fifth year in secondary school and playing football, with ambitions to play for his county. Then, in March 2014, he noticed blood in his stools. Within weeks, he was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis and put on maintenance drugs to control the condition. However, the bleeding continued and following his first year in college in Dublin, he was severely fatigued, had lost weight, was anaemic and fainting frequently.
I spent seven and a half weeks in hospital, was infected with E.coli and had sepsis. Im lucky to be alive, he says, frankly. Following blood transfusions and biomedical chemotherapy, Kiernan was released from hospital back to student life.
IBD is used to describe several diseases, including Crohns disease and ulcerative colitis which are both chronic (long-term) diseases that involve inflammation of the gastrointestinal tract (gut).
Ulcerative colitis is an autoimmune disease so the white blood cells attacking the lining of my colon was causing the ulceration and bleeding, explains Kiernan. For the next 18 months or so, he was put on a variety of immune-suppressant drugs to control the condition.
I missed a lot of college. I had to re-sit some exams and I had to quit football which was the hardest thing of all, he explains. In January 2017, Kiernan opted for a full colectomy, after which he was fitted for a ileostomy bag which takes the waste materials that usually pass through the colon [large intestine] and out of the body from the rectum.
It was the best thing Ive ever done. It gave me back my life. Within five months, I was playing football again and six months later, I went inter-railing across Europe with a group of friends. I was able to eat or drink what I liked, explains Kiernan.
He says that after the surgery, his biggest fear was around relationships with girls. I basically followed the fake it till you make it rule and Ive had no bad experiences. Im with my girlfriend now for more than two years.
However, his surgical procedure followed by recovery meant that he had to repeat third year and thus finished his BA in Education Studies at Marino Institute in May 2019. An internship during college with the Kerry Group led to his current position. Now, looking back over the past six years, he says, A lot of people struggle mentally with having IBD but surgery transformed my life.
The internet is a dangerous place for people to go for information. Id advise people to talk to those who have had it and stick with those who are positive. In my case, having had to cope with this condition made me more resilient during the lockdown period.
Stand-up comedian Andrea Farrell often uses her experience of inflammatory bowel disease for her comedy sketches. She was diagnosed with Crohns disease five years ago on her 26th birthday. She had been unwell for months. Before my diagnosis, I thought that my symptoms which mainly consisted of going to the toilet a lot and a mouth full of ulcers were linked to food and my diet, explains Farrell.
A vegetarian at the time, Farrell switched back to eating lots of red meat and then tried many other diets. Before I was diagnosed, I had definitely developed some food anxieties. My friends thought I was a picky eater and knew I didnt really like going out to dinner. I was afraid to eat because everything passed through me so fast that I just wanted it to stop.
Her diagnosis came after a period of hospitalisation following swelling of her joints, blurred vision and extreme weight loss. I had to leave my job at the time and stop performing comedy until I felt fit again. But, once I started to get better, I got a whole new lease of life. I now live mostly in remission and try to recognise the early signs of a flare-up [my eyes get bloodshot and I get hives on my shins]. During a flare-up, I also get severe joint pain and inflammation which, in the past, has meant Ive had to use crutches until the swelling goes down. But, thankfully, this hasnt happened for some time.
Farrell advises anyone with IBD not to become desensitised to their symptoms and let them become normal. Its not normal to go to the toilet 15 times a day. Its not normal to pass blood and lose weight at an alarming rate, she says.
However, while diagnosis is scary and upsetting, Farrell says it also brings a sense of relief. A diagnosis means you know whats wrong with you and your journey to recovery can begin.
Sufferers of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) experienced higher than usual levels of stress and anxiety during the Covid-19 pandemic, according to a new survey. Three out of four people living with Crohns disease and ulcerative colitis conditions collectively known as IBD experienced stress and anxiety, and over half of those surveyed said they were depressed due to their condition in the past few months.
The Irish Society for Colitis and Crohns Disease (ISCC) reported a 300 per cent increase in calls to its helpline in the three months since the Covid-19 pandemic hit Ireland. Callers spoke about their concerns about cocooning, managing their mental health and accessing healthcare appointments.
In response to these issues, the ISCC has launched a podcast Gutcast in which experts and sufferers of IBD share their advice and experiences of the condition. Each of the eight episodes focuses on a specific topic including managing everyday demands of work and social life, coping with fatigue and getting the most out of healthcare appointments.
Rugby player John Ryan, HR executive Andrew Kiernan and comedian Andrea Farrell speak frankly about their experience of living with colitis in episode 8 which will be available in August (See iscc.ie for details on downloading the podcasts).
About 40,000 people in Ireland suffer from IBD, most of whom are diagnosed between the ages of 15 and 35. Symptoms range from regular diarrhoea or constipation to cramping pains in the abdomen, loss of appetite, anaemia and ulcers in the mouth and digestive tract. Many sufferers end up taking sick leave from work, school or college, and parents with IBD often find caring for their children difficult.

Lululemon Athletica Inc (NASDAQ: LULU) And The Future Of Fitness – Simply Wall St
COVID-19 is a crisis that has impacted everyone, from all walks of life and in some way or another. For those in the fitness industry, gyms have been closed and home workouts have become the new norm. Subsequently, home fitness products and connected fitness offerings, such as online group workouts and virtual gym memberships, have seen a huge surge in relevance and demand. This brings us to one of the latest developments in this space.
A High-Tech Mirror
Lululemon Athletica Inc. (NASDAQ: LULU) recently announced their acquisition of a young startup called Mirror, (for USD $500m cash), that offers interactive workouts from home via a $1,495 mirror. The product that the company sells is a high-tech reflective screen that streams live or on-demand classes and workouts from an app so that you can work out from home. This differs from the retail side of Lululemons business, but it ties in well with one of the companys strategies of creating a great Omni-guest experience for its customers (otherwise referred to as guests by the company). Considering Mirror is expected to generate $100m in revenue for 2020, after only launching in September of 2018 (and is expected to break-even by 2021), the fast-growing startup could provide a further boost to Lululemons growth prospects if the two offerings are successfully integrated.

How Has Lululemon Fared Through COVID?
For a retailer in a global crisis, Lululemon performed relatively well in the first quarter of 2020. Its net sales only declined by 17%, compared to others in the athleisure industry such as UnderArmour Inc (NYSE: UAA) and Nike Inc (NYSE: NKE), whose sales declined 23% and 38% respectively for similar periods. Lululemons decline in sales can be linked to a large portion of their 491 retail outlets being closed due to government-imposed lockdowns around the world, so it wouldnt be far-fetched to expect net sales to recover once more of their stores reopen.
The chart below outlines Lululemons history of earnings and revenue, both of which have grown over the last 5 years.
Heres where things get interesting. In their latest update, Lululemon also reported that their direct-to-consumer (DTC) sales increased by 68% and now represents 54% of the companys total revenue. Back in Q1 2019, DTC sales only represented 27% of their total sales, so it has doubled its contribution to the companys top line, and not only that, these online sales generate higher margins than those from their retail outlets. An increasing top-line and expanding margins typically means more profit can flow through to the bottom line and ultimately to shareholders pockets. To see the latest consensus from analysts about how the companys earnings and revenue will fare going forward, click here.
Investors may also find comfort in the fact that according to our analysis, Lululemon has a flawless balance sheet. Not only do they have short term assets (US$1.7bn) that outweigh long term (US$734m) and short term (US$631m) liabilities, but they also have no debt. This latest acquisition, if done with cash as expected, will reduce their $823m cash balance accordingly.
All In All
Lululemons acquisition of Mirror is a bold statement about where they think the future of fitness is going. It has recognized that there are new ways of building intimate relationships with their guests and Mirrors offering would help them solidify their stance as an experiential brand. The company has performed relatively well through COVID so far and thanks to its strong balance sheet, favorable growth prospects, and brand loyalty among customers, it seems well equipped to continue to do so.
Keep in mind though, every company bears some elements of risk, and Lululemon is no exception. Weve identified some risks that you ought to be aware of.
Alternatively, if you want to find more companies like Lululemon, weve compiled a list of companies that have solid balance sheets and fundamentals here.
